Hi, all! Since you guys enjoyed my first Army Wives fanfiction, here I am with another one since writing NON-Anime fics for a change if kinda therapeutic, not gonna lie _
For context's sake, this chapter takes place during 1x07 after Roxy's birthday party where Roxy declares the Tribe, Betty and the people who went to her party as her family. But….this will lead to some problems with her detractors and I don't wanna give away the story! XD
ANYWAYS…. let the story begin already before you all get bored! XD
Despite the rough hand Roxy Leblanc had gotten early in her life, she had a good deal of great things to happen to her within the last twenty six years on her time on Planet Earth.
The first was the birth of her two sons, TJ and Finn. After the lack of relationship she had with her mother, the joy that she felt when she held both of her sons in her arms was nothing short of overwhelming. They were precious gifts to her that she would do anything to protect, even if that meant giving her life.
The second was her husband Trevor proposing to her mere days after meeting her. To say she was surprised would have been the understatement of the 2000s. While yes she found him attractive and sweet, she didn't think an enlisted personnel would think to start a life with her. Despite her shock, she was more than happy to take his hand in marriage. Unlike her first two husbands; TJ's father actually going as far as to physically abuse her and Finn's father being a one night stand; she felt like she could actually have a future with Trevor and could actually work other jobs than being a bartender or working odd jobs at places like Red Lobster.
The third was meeting Claudia Joy Holden. Initially Roxy thought of her as just a snooty bitch similar to some of the other high ranking officers' wives but much to her surprise unlike a good deal of officers' wives who would just ignore and demean her and never give her the time of day, Claudia Joy actually took her under her wing and actually listened to her and never scrutinized her for her personality or how she dressed but rather she encouraged it. It was actually because of Claudia Joy she was inducted into the unofficial "tribe" of Fort Marshall consisting of her, Claudia Joy obviously, Denise Sherwood, Roland Burton and Pamela Muran and although she and Denise didn't quite hit it off right away, she jived rather quickly with Roland and Pamela, especially Pamela who became her best friend rather quickly. While Claudia Joy was Roxy's first friend she couldn't connect with Roxy the same way Pamela could due to her lower rank.
Which leads into Roxy's current bit of happiness; the tribe, Trevor, Betty, her estranged mother and even other people of Fort Marshall had surprised her with a birthday party, the gesture was enough to bring a tear to Roxy's eye, especially when considered how things were for Roxy at first on base. Although Roxy found out while some of the officers' wives were snobbish, enlisted personnel wives and other lower ranks were pretty chill.
As Roxy noticed the loving looks she received from everyone, she decided to speak her mind.
"Okay! Um…..You know, we all have two families, we've got the ones that we're born with and the ones that we choose….And I choose all of you….so thank you all for being my family." Roxy said with a warm smile looking from Trevor to Pamela to Claudia Joy to Betty to Denise to Roland to finally everyone else who attended as they all looked touched by her words with some even looking close to tears.
As Roxy blew out her birthday candles with all her loved ones cheering her on, from nearby three women watched the whole proceedings with disgust evident on their faces.
"Ugh just look at her." One of the women, Marilyn, turned her nose at the thought of anybody actually willingly wanting to be around someone as undignified, tactless and trashy as Roxy Leblanc.
"Yeah she thinks she's all that when she's not worth shit!" The second of the women, Angie scowled at Roxy's backside still not over Roxy dissing her that one time. However, the third and most ignorant of the three merely smiled.
"I must say this is a new low even for Claudia Joy. Befriending and taking that trollop under her wing is one thing but to honor and celebrate a dreg of society's birthday?" Lenore Baker shook her head in disbelief. When she first caught of Roxy she was surprised that not only had Claudia Joy invited her to her party but was actually being welcoming and kind to her? Initially she thought Claudia Joy was only doing that out of pity and would drop her like a sack of potatoes shortly after but much to her shock and dismay, the two had gotten only closer and that tramp had gotten close with the Sherwood's wife, Moran's wife and Burton's husband after what? A few hours or days? Fort Marshall had really fallen far from grace if someone like Roxy Leblanc was being treated with anything other than disdain and exclusion.
"Look at all those losers!" Angie snorted at all the enlisted personnel wives all hugging Roxy.
"Trash flocks together." Marilyn high-fived her for the funny comment.
"I think it's time we remind Claudia Joy about her rank and to let that Leblanc twat know her place with a 'friendly reminder'". Lenore winked at the two women who grinned, eager to put Roxy in her place as bullying Roxy and Pamela were their favorite past times.
Roxy meanwhile was putting up the cake the tribe had made for her since she knew they would love a leftover cake, especially an ice cream one, now that the party was over.
"You guys really know how to make a girl feel special. Thank you all again!" Roxy beamed, happily adjusting the birthday crown on her head with her friends smiling warmly at her as all the other party goers had already left.
"Don't even mention it, Rox!" Pamela grinned, cleaning up the trash from the party.
"Yeah, if anyone deserved this party, it was definitely you, Rox." Claudia Joy awarded the blonde with one of her kind smiles making Roxy's heart grow warm.
"Thanks, guys." Roxy smiled as she gave Trevor a kiss before stalked away to the kitchen as Roland slapped a hand on Roxy's shoulder.
"So tell me, have things gotten better for you?" Roland wondered as Roxy smiled. While she had trouble getting along with higher ranking officers' wives excluding Denise and obviously Claudia Joy, she had no issues with her fellow enlisted officers who couldn't stand some of the higher ranking officers' wives, especially Lenore Baker. Just like Roxy, ironically.
"Yeah! It was rough in the beginning but now that I have you guys it's so much better here, regardless if people turn their noses up on me or not!" Roxy beamed with her friends smiling at her.
"Now and forever." Denise winked with Claudia Joy and Roxy smiling at her for different reasons. Roxy was happy that Denise was getting over Jeremy's abuse and Claudia Joy was happy that her best friend was returning to how she was before, slowly.
"What're you with that broom, The Good Witch?" Roxy smirked, noting the shape of Denise's broom, making everyone look at her amusingly.
"Hey it looked cool from Party City!" Denise smirked fake-mockingly as the tribe all shared a good laugh as this was a time of happiness and laughter.
Although….it couldn't last forever.
"Well, well, I see it's as lively as ever." Lenore droned as she strolled to the group with her two lackeys, Angie and Marilyn.
"I thought there was a foul smell in the air…" Pamela groaned softly with the rest of the tribe doing their best to hide their annoyance at their presence, some more than others.
"Hey, if it isn't The Three Scrooges!" Roxy smirked at the angered looks on the three, especially Angie and Marilyn's at her comment.
"Listen here, pipsqueak-!" Angie looked ready to have of the words with Roxy who looked ready to stand her ground though a hand from Lenore stopped Angie.
"I must say, it's quite rude we weren't invited to this little…exclusion….." Lenore forced herself looked at Roxy although it was very hard as it was a very common belief amongst the high ranking officer's wives except for Denise and obviously Claudia Joy that Roxy was way out of Claudia Joy's league.
"Well why should she? You two treat her like crap." Pamela pointed at Angie and Marilyn before looking at Lenore, "And you always leave her out of your fancy pants events." Pamela couldn't believe the nerve of these guys. Bully someone yet get mad when they don't want them around?
Surprisingly, Marilyn actually donned a kind look before walking to Roxy and putting a hand on her shoulder.
"Oh sweetie, I know you think we hate you but that's not the case. In fact, we wanna teach you valuable life skills." Marilyn said in a mock compassionate voice that Roxy knew right off the bat that was patronizing.
"Oh yeah?" Roxy rolled her eyes.
"Yeah. Like keeping your moronic inputs to yourself, for one!" Angie snobbily said with her and Marilyn laughing as Lenore looked quite amused as Roxy's friends all looked just with these stepford wives.
"Well I have some for you three. Your mouths have the option to stay closed so how about you three do that?" Roxy snorted with Lenore putting a hand on their shoulders to calm them down as they looked ready for a war of words.
"I must ask, Claudia Joy….why bother yourself with someone like her?" Lenore turned her nose at Roxy who looked offended.
"Someone like me?" Roxy raised an eyebrow.
"Listen you-"Pamela spat before Claudia Joy stepped in front of the two.
"What do you mean? I just treat her with common human decency and not care about trivial things about her." Claudia Joy fought the urge to roll her eyes along with Denise and Roland.
"Yeah, there's nothing wrong with officer's wives associating with enlisted wives." Denise added in support for Roxy, making her heart feel warm with her friends having her back.
"I hear she never finished High School!" Angie pointed out with Roxy rolling her eyes. She had to work and do what she could to live.
"And I hear she was a teen mom." Marilyn wrinkled her nose with Roxy actually feeling anger this time. While she made mistakes in her life, she would never regret having TJ or Finn. But before she could defend her actions…
"Wow, I knew you guys were low but to slut shame someone?" Pamela scowled.
"Yes she may be new to the game but there's nothing wrong with that." Roland defended Roxy.
"Roxy can be eccentric but there's nothing wrong with that. She's someone loyal who would do anything for her friends." Denise added, eternally grateful to Roxy for helping her with Jeremy.
"So you see, yes Roxy may not be the traditional military spouse but her kindness, fierceness, loyalty and work ethic make up for the reasons people like you look down on her for." Claudia Joy finished, mentally eye-rolling as she remembered all the officer wives basically hounding her as to why she allowed Roxy to even be around her.
Roxy felt teary-eyed with her friends' defense of her.
While Angie and Marilyn looked perturbed that someone like Claudia Joy Holden saw anything other than disdain for someone like Roxy Leblanc, Lenore kept her smile.
"I guess even tarts deserve some love. Marilyn, Angie; come on." Lenore turned on her heels with her lackeys following behind but not before shooting Roxy one last glare.
"Ugh go slither away." Pamela scowled at their retreating backs with Roxy turning to everyone.
"Guys…thank you." Roxy thanked her friends genuinely as Claudia Joy was quick to wave off her thanks with her trademark smile.
"No need for thanks, Rox." Claudia Joy smiled.
"Besides, bullies never prosper." Roland added.
"Yeah but…..I do need to thank you….Before I met you all, only Trevor and my boys made me feel loved and worth something…." Roxy looked down with a sad smile before literally looking up as Pamela slapped her shoulders.
"Well, you better get used to it!" Pamela winked.
"Yep! Once a tribe member, always a tribe member!" Claudia Joy reassured the blonde as Denise suddenly got an idea.
"Hey, Trevor! We need a picture!" Denise called to Trevor who missed the whole thing and came back just now.
"Oh uh….okay…." Trevor blinked before making sure everyone was ready.
"Okay….three….two….one!" Trevor said before snapping a picture that would stay with the tribe five forever.
Denise and Pamela looked very supportive and loving of Roxy, especially Pamela while Claudia Joy looked very doting of Roxy as she thought she was just adorable because of how small she was as Roland looked just happy to be included.
The tribe was really the best thing to have happened to Roxy, excluding marrying Trevor and having her boys
The tribe was not only a group of friends but rather a family to Roxy. One that accepted her for who she was, regardless of what society thought of her. The tribe was something that would always help and be there for Roxy no matter what and where they were.
And with that Army Wives ended after Season Five, the tribe remained the same as it always was and MOST IMPORTANTLY, Claudia Joy did NOT die _
(Sighs) Don't we all want a group of friends like Roxy, Pamela, Claudia Joy, Roland and Denise? _
