Duckburg Falls

Chapter 1

"Where are we?"

Dipper and Mabel Pines were sitting side by side, staring out the window of their apartment building.

It had been several weeks since they had left Gravity Falls and was feeling a bit down. Dipper hated the fact that he couldn't see any of their friends. He hadn't made any friends since they moved back home and school had started. So he buried himself in his school work, and also started up his own journal's of his experince in Gravity Falls since the other three journal's his Great Uncle Ford had written had been destoryed.

Dipper sighed, and looked up at the night sky. It had been the worst day in his life, and he couldn't even see any stars here in the city and just stare at them like he usually did when he was down. No stars. No Wendy. No Gravity Falls...

Mabel wasn't having that hard a time as he was, and even if she did, she didn't show it. She was casually tickling her pet pig; Waddels, on his stomach as he snorted and squealed wth delight. At first their parent's were upset about having a pig in the apartment, if the land lord ever found out...

But after pleading and promising she'd take care of Waddels herself and he'll never leave her room. Mom and Dad agreed. So, Mabel was the most, interesting, person in school which made her almost as popular as Pacifica had been back in Gravity Falls.

Dipper felt a bit jealous.

She could make friend's so eaisly now, after being in Gravity Falls. What was she so worried about then, making a whole big deal about going seperate ways?

Instead of friends, Dipper had a shadow, a big bully of a shadow named Curtis who had taken a great dislike of Dipper the moment school started.

He'd find himself inside a locker before lunch, and dangling by his underwear on a flag pole by the time school ended. Mabel always had to lower and untie him, always with that disapproval look and a,

"What happened to my hard core brother?" Question.

Reality.

That's what happened.

Hard core?

He didn't even think he was hard core. All he did was try and stop an interdimensional dream demaon that can be summoned and realeased into a person's mind from trying to take over the world. Dipper still had the nightmares. Mable would take notice and comfort him as she herself felt the fear of the demon popping up at any moment for revange.

But their Grunkle Stan defeated the demon by letting it enter his own mind and his brother erasing it. He got his memory back and Bill Cipher had disappeared.

For good.

Right?

Dipper hoped it was true. But he still couldn't help but feel the demon's one eye on him. He shivered at the time that he had been turned into a sock puppet while the demon took over his own body. It was a horrible feeling, as if he could never again feel whole.

Mabel tried to understand. But she couldn't. She wanted to believe that they had defeated Bill Cipher. But she knew from the books that she had read on demons, once they got back home that demons can't be defeated.

Only contained, and only for a short time.

She hadn't mentioned that to Dipper. Didn't want his nightmares getting worse.

Her parent's had asked her what's been bothering Dipper since they got home. She assured them it was nothing. That he just missed Gravity Falls. They took her word for it and didn't ask anything furthur.

She; of course, did miss Gravity Falls. Missed her uncle's, Wendy, Soos. The mystery and adventures they had together.

But it wasn't so bad here.

She had her brother, Waddels, her parents.

What else could she possibly want?

"Wonder what they are doing, right now." Dipper said, interupting her thoughts. Mabel looked over at him.

Mabel didn't have to read his mind to know he was talking about Grunkle Stan and Ford.

"Probably punching the lights out of a Kraken." Mabel remark. "Or, Or finding the lost city of Alantis." She added.

"Yeah. Probably." Dipper grumbled. "Meanwhile, we're stuck here, in reality."

Mabel didn't know why, but she felt guilty about the fact that she made Dipper come home with her. Even though she said he could stay, that it didn't bother her. She knew he secretly wished he was back with their Uncle's.

Dipper was so sure that reality would be good for Mabel. But he wasn't sure reality was good for Dipper. He wasn't anybody here. He was just a total nerd that got bullied every single day. At least with his Uncle's he had been a somebody.

"I, I think I can fix that." She said, finally.

Dipper looked over at her in alarm.

"W,What are you -." He asked, as Mabel jumped up and walked over to her backpack. She didn't turn around as she rummaged around it. She slowly pulled out something then slowly turned back to him, Dipper stared at her as she gripped something in her hand, and smiled nervously at him. "Mabel." Dipper said, in a scolding sort of voice that made Mabel feel like a kid instead of now thirteen-years-old.

Mabel continued to smile at him sheepishly as she unfolded her hand.

Dipper stared at the object that laid out in front of him.

"Don't be mad." She begged, seeing the look of horror on his face. "But, I sort of found this, right before our birthday party, back in Gravity Falls, and well..."

In her hands was the Interdimensional Rift.

The one that Grunkle Ford had once shown Dipper. But instead of it being in a snowglobe type container with a caution tape at the base it was now in the form of a single orb like marble that stil had the space look inside and the glowing faint of blue with various stars of differenent shades of brightness, size, and still ahd that blue and black shady color too it.

Mabel had somehow used her creativity style to make the marble into a necklace that dangled on a silver chain in front of them. Instead of Dipper being happy about seeing it, she watched his face get as red as a tomatoe.

"MABEL!" He shouted with rage. "You, You had this and didn't tell me about it?" He asked.

"I, It was never really the right time." Mabel said, defending herself. "We, We just got back home from saving the world, and, and -."

"You realize if Uncle Ford or Grunkle Stan knew about this -." Dipper began.

"I know, I know." Mabel said, a bit nervously. "But, keep your voice down," She pleaded. She held up the marble to Dipper's eye level. He saw what she meant. A small crack was showing on the marbel.

Was it because of his shouting?

Was it really that fradgile?

Dipper had a bad feeling about the rift marble. He didn't know what it could do other then send interdiminsional demons into their world. What if it happened again? Dipper didnt' think he could do what he did back at Gravity Falls, and with their Uncle's off to who knows where, they wouldn't stand a chance alone against the demons.

"I can't believe you kept something like this, in your backpack, where anything could happen because of it!" Dipper hissed, angerly at her.

"It's been fine!" Mabel hissed back at him. "What's with you? Why are you acting like a -." She stopped when suddenly the crack from the marble opened up wider and before Dipper and Mabel had time to react a storm cloud appeared above them and they got themselves sucked up into it, along with the marble, but leaving poor Waddels alone in the room, looking around in alarm, and seeing Dipper and Mabel gone he rushed to the door, kicked it with his back legs, and ran out of the apartment, snorting and squealing in fear.

Mabel and Dipper was holding onto one another as they flew through the dark grey storm clouds that had just swallowed them up. Dipper had no idea what was happen, but his heart was pounding so hard against his chest. Mabel was hugging Dipper tightly.

He could feel her own heart beat rapidly beating, and her eyes were shut tight.

But Dipper kept his eyes open, one hand holding on to Mabel while the other on his blue and white pine tree hat that he always wore.

Wind rushed at his face making his vision a bit blurry, but he could still make out a brightness of what looked like the sun as continued to fly fast towards it.

Once they made it out of the stormy grey clouds they began to fall, and fast. Mabel still holding onto her bag finally opened her eyes, grabbed a grabbling hook she always kept with her, and shot it randomly in the air.

It cought on something, and it swung them foward, letting them land safely on the ground. Dust picked up as they landed and when it finally cleared they both looked around in awe. They knew at first glance they weren't home anymore.

Mabel asked the question that was running through Dippers mind as they stared at -

Ducks?

Ducks that walked, talked, and even had cellphones like humans did. They wore clothes too just like on the show that Mabel liked to watch.

Quack Detective.

"D,Dipper. Where are we?" She asked, in a hushed whisper.

Dipper glanced over at her, instead of her having a frightened and dismay look on her face, scopes formed in her pupils and a smile slowly started form across her face reveiling her tight, silver braces.

"I, I don't know." Dipper answered. "But where ever we are. We aren't in Califorina anymore." He said.
