This short fanfic is set in the same universe as Another Time, Another World and was published with the consent of the publisher of that fanfic (which you should go read before reading this one). Therefore, there are spoilers for that fanfic. I do not own Mobile Suit Gundam 00 or Another Time, Another World.

2317 AD

"Graham Aker, Flag Kai, launching!"

With those words, Graham Aker, piloting his CBNGN-003 Flag Kai, flew out from the launching bay of the Ptolemaios II in low orbit over Earth before transforming into its vehicle mode. Its destination, the Caucasus, where terrorists armed with mobile suits have been stirring up trouble in the region, threatening to provoke border skirmishes that could lead to a large number of civilian casualties before the Earth Sphere Federation could mobilize its forces and intervene. This in turn prompted Celestial Being to send Graham to conduct an armed intervention in order to prevent further instability in the region.

Following the defeat of the A-Laws in 2312, the members of Celestial Being had been secretly offered amnesty by the ESF in exchange for technical assistance. Some, such as Graham's former rival, Setsuna F. Seiei, along with the latter's girlfriend, Feldt Grace, had taken the offer, using the opportunity to retire in peace. Others, such as Sumeragi Li Noriega, refused the offer and still conduct armed interventions, albeit with the unofficial tolerance of ESF, who view the organization as a useful and less corrupt alternative to the A-Laws.

Graham, in what could be described as an ironic twist of fate, had been in neither group, instead being a one-time enemy of Celestial Being-turned-new recruit. Back when people called him "Mr. Bushido," he had immersed himself completely in the tenets of that ancient Japanese code of honor, living only for battle and nothing else, until Setsuna, who he had once dismissed as a honorless terrorist, humbled him and forced him to question the core of his beliefs. Now, five years later, he's flying to battle on behalf of Celestial Being, in order to fight for something more than just for battle's sake.

Graham shook these thoughts out of his head as his target, the primary base of operations for the terrorists, came into sight, where he could see Jinxes and Aheads, almost certainly acquired on the black market. After a quick count, he determined there were three Jinxes and two Aheads currently on patrol, while eight of the former and three of the latter seemed to be docked on a makeshift airstrip. Whether or not there were any others on the premises did matter to Graham at the moment; he would destroy the inactive ones first in a strafing run to prevent reinforcements from posing a threat before dealing with the guards.

With the plan in mind, Graham moved in for the kill, dropping his payload of smoke bombs to obscure the vision of his enemies before strafing the docked mobile suits, destroying them with his GN Sword II Kai and linear cannons. With the first task complete, he came back around to deal with the guards, dodging their retaliatory fire as he transformed the Flag Kai into its mobile suit mode. With his Sword II, he made short work of the surviving Jinxes, destroying each of them with well-placed shots.

Seeing that their enemy was devastating them from the air, the two Aheads took the sky, deflecting shots with their GN shields as one began attacking the Flag Kai in melee with a beam saber while the other provided suppressing fire with its GN SMG. While their tactics might've worked on a less experienced pilot, Graham had been piloting mobile suits for almost a decade now. Switching the Sword II to its plasma sword configuration, he quickly exploited an opening in the melee attacker's defense to bisect it before turning his attention to the gunner, quickly reducing it to burning scrap with his sword and linear cannon fire.

With the mobile suits neutralized, Graham finished his mission by completely destroying the terrorist base, leaving only enough intact so their passing might be identified. As he departed, his sensors picked up signs of ESF forces arriving in the area, likely to investigate the battle that had just occurred.

"With any hope," Graham noted to himself with some degree of satisfaction as he made the atmospheric climb back to the Ptolemaios II, "they'll know who did this and leave well enough alone."
