Neon Genesis Evangelion

Calling in a Favor: Bargain

A/N: This crossover's been attempted, but I doubt that anyone tried this idea.

In the vast multiverse, every second that past, every breath taken…was another moment where a new universe began or ended…or a planet inhabited by intelligent life just up and ended due to the drawbacks of existence. And one sphere that served as a window and a doorway to such a universe within the multiverse in front of him showed him another echo of a former sphere of life known as Earth, decimated by its own people that were split between a desperate desire to prevent the end of the world and an unforgivable desire to end all life on Earth to achieve a perverse form of immortality. In the end, the result, as he had seen in many other universes that he had to visit and undo in many ways, was the world ending because everyone's fate was forced upon one boy that was damaged beyond the usual capacity by everyone that left him to suffer, left with only a girl with a serious attitude problem that even the end of the world wouldn't let up.

"Unfortunately, the Earth of this universe is among the twelve universes currently overseen by him, so I can't make any attempt to defy the dark fate that is their future," he uttered as he looked at the two teens left alone on the dead world where all they knew, all they loved or tried to protect was just taken from them by people that sought the end on purpose and a woman chose to abandon everyone to serve as an eternal testament to her species' existence. "This is just as worse as the struggle happening in the other multiverse because that failure of a mother continues to run from her child in one universe after another where such events either failed to happen or were prevented and her doppelgänger had to accept her fate as another cog in the machine that was life as it was meant to be or lose more than what she was willing to cast off for her twisted testament that even I wouldn't care much about, past, present or future."

He turned away to look at another sphere that floated in front of him, showing a young man that appeared to be in his early teens, but was wracked by heavy signs of premature aging; his hair had turned white with only bits of dark that was fading out and wrinkles under his eyes. This was a young man under more stress than any person was allowed to go under before it built up and killed them, but for this man, who was on a mission, was too tired to stop just yet…and too full of pain and suffering, in his heart and his soul…to call it quits yet.

"I guess I have no choice," he sighed as he returned his gaze to the other sphere where the two teens were left alone on the dead Earth. "I have to call in a favor from him through his son who is assigned to that universe."

The lone man grabbed the sphere and disappeared from off his wooden throne.

It had the equivalent of three Earth months since the time of the Tournament of Power, and there had been no points of interest to the Omni-Kings to amuse them. In truth, the battle between the strongest fighters in the multiverse had been the most fascinating to both, and it would be awhile before the next great event happened to amuse them.

"Omni-Kings," went the Grand Minister to both Zeno and Future Zeno as they were playing a game with planets again, "an old acquaintance seeks an audience with you."

"Who?" Zeno asked, something Future Zeno also wanted to know.

"Who?" He echoed, and behind the Grand Minister was a creature that resembled a human, but emanated a strange energy that rivaled various deities, almost similar in ways to the Supreme Kais and Destroyers…but not entirely like them at the same time. "I've seen you from before."

"Yes, I've seen you from before," Zeno echoed as the mysterious man bowed to them.

"Grand Zeno," he greeted the Omni-King, but then looked at Future Zeno, "and Grand Zeno?"

"Brother Correction," they both addressed him. "Brother Correction."

Rising back to his full height, the man looked around and saw twice the number of attendants associated to Grand Zeno than he did the last time they met, which was the equivalent of an eternity ago. He turned to face the Grand Minister and had to ask a question that needed to answered to satisfy his curiosity.

"Have I missed anything that has transpired since the last time I met the…Omni-Kings?" He asked him.

"Much has transpired," Grand Minister answered him. "Grand Zeno has been given a friend of his status: Himself from a different future."

"I guess that would be among the greatest of solutions to befriend oneself. I am happy for Grand Zeno. Sincerely."

"Thank you. Omni-Kings, Brother Correction has called in a favor to ask of you. I am sure as you recall, long ago, Brother Correction visited you when you were going to remove six of the original eighteen universes…and proposed a benevolent solution."

"You offered to hold onto them in case we ever desired them back," Future Zeno responded. "You believed that they were to be cherished like much of everything else. Has anything happened to them?"

"The six universes you loaned to me are doing well. Everyone within them are living peacefully. There is a new problem that has occurred recently within Universe Nine under your possession, your great Omni-Kings." Brother Correction explained, raising a sphere up from his left hand and enlarging it so that all could see. "This Earth has suffered a great and irrevocable harm brought upon by its own people, leaving only two humans left alive and an abomination that was intended by one human to outlast all of existence as a testament to the human race's existence. Now, this has occurred many times in many lifetimes, but in many of those cases, it was only by a miracle that problems were either prevented or undone. This isn't the case in this matter. The planet's spirit has died because of the phenomenon that was instigated and all of the life that originally existed has been obliterated from it, all save these two young people."

The Omni-Kings looked at the two humans, noticing that they looked like they hadn't been through much, and then Future Zeno looked at Brother Correction.

"Can't these humans restore their world on their own?" He asked him.

"No," he answered. "The Earth is dead, Omni-King. The plants are withered, the oceans either transmuted into or converted completely into a blood-like substance, the atmosphere ripped up beyond regeneration… In short, there is no hope for these two. They will die within a month because of the people that unleashed this madness by using them to carry out the end result."

"Universe Nine?" Zeno questioned.

"Yes."

"What do you propose?"

"I am asking for your express permission to do as I always do within other universes: Undo the mistakes committed by those that seek to change the world for reasons that others wouldn't agree to follow or allow. I am asking…that you allow me to help this world…and punish the people responsible for its end."

"He has offered to show you a glimpse into something that may impress you that he has discovered will happen later on involving various other universes," Grand Minister informed the Omni-Kings as Brother Correction raised another sphere that enlarged to show seven different universes that appeared to be related in strange ways.

"Ooh," Future Zenon expressed as he saw a young man that resembled the boy on the dead Earth, only this one was pale-skinned and appeared to be quite violent, seeing as he was killing various men and women, followed by a little girl wielding a pair of strange swords, wearing strange armor, and another girl with strange markings under her eyes that stood out due to having gray hair.

"Who are they?" Zeno wanted to know, watching a woman that was wearing strange armor that seemed to be lacking something inside herself as she tore through walls and taking bullets from several gun-wielding humans that stood no chance against her, followed by a little girl that just screamed a feeling of sadness around her. "Who are they?"

"Strangers with no relation due to coming from separate lives in separate universes," Brother Correction explained, "but they are related in a strange sense due to someone that they're trying to find and save."

"Him?" They both questioned, pointing to a boy that had looked withered and tired, with white hair and wrinkles under his eyes. "Is he dying?"

"That's something he seeks, but one version of how he seeks it comes at the expense of other universes interconnected to the one he used to reside in. However, another variation of how he achieves this goal is by capturing a woman that abandoned him…and continues to abandon him in favor of her own ambitions, despite them being no better than those of a villain's."

"How do they get together?"

"Heh. They're already together. Think of their individual abilities and personalities bringing them together for one reason that transcends space and time. A series of conflicts, a war or battle, if you will. One side is these men and women that have different reasons for joining together and finding the woman that abandoned her son…and her son, who has found a few people like himself, like-minded, all in a state of suffering, and all wanting the same thing: A blissful oblivion. In due time, there is going to be a situation that brings each of these men and women together. It's almost similar to a tournament, if you will. A…final struggle."

"A tournament, you say?"

"Yes. With a prize that is very similar to what I've been told your Tournament of Power was like. They want to save their universes, but they also want to save the boy that has suffered one casualty after another. It's just the way they may have to save him may be the same way that ends them unless they can find a solution that helps all of them."

"When will it begin?"

"It could be a week or two, or a day or two. Time moves in a tricky way with these universes, but their battle is inevitable. If you want an opinion on whose side to cheer on, I would cheer for the side with the dead boy that is good at murder and embraces innocence."

On the see-through screens, the Omni-Kings could see the inclusion of a man with a prosthetic arm and a sword along with another boy that resembled the one that was killing people, only he brandished a large staff with a tiger and dragon depicted on it.

"Some of them all look the same," Zeno told Brother Correction.

"A mirror that is fractured will still display your reflection," he responded, "but every reflection within each cracked section will reflect a different-sized version of the person being reflected. That reflection will be different from every other reflection, just like how in the multiverse, each universe has a different version of everyone that exists within it. Sometimes, the people are the same in every major sense, but in others, the changes are vast and great. A man can be a woman, a woman can be an animal, and an animal can be a human or alien. A man can be married to the same woman, or a different woman, or even another man. Even the great fighters you saw in the Tournament of Power, they can be different in other universes. Human, alien, animal, ghost, machine, whatever. The only thing that can't be changed…is the supreme being tasked with watching all that occurs in each universe."

They noticed how one of the people that appeared involved resembled a small boy wielding a large sword, jumping and moving around in ways that no other child his age could do even if they were trained since birth.

"I like him," Future Zeno pointed to the little boy.

"He's a child immortal," Brother Correction explained. "Immortality was forced upon when a relative on his mother's side tried to kill him. He has since moved on with his life and is living with other relatives that are stimulating to his physical, mental and emotional development. He has also helped to save the world he lives in."

The Omni-Kings looked at Brother Correction and made the displays disappear.

"You have permission," Zeno expressed.

"Might I suggest that you keep the Omni-Kings informed of this upcoming final struggle?" Grand Minister suggested to him.

"Understood, Grand Minister. Thank you."

Floating in the space between the moon and the disgraced planet that was Earth in Universe Nine, Brother Correction looked down at the dead world, occupied only by the two children that had been left alone. He had already met with the Supreme Kai and Destroyer of this universe and informed them that he had been given permission by the Omni-Kings to do as he saw fit with the Earth and its inhabitants, but told them that they could do as they pleased with the Evangelion that had long since abandoned this solar system to outlast all other living things after he told them what the person inside it had chosen to do that was perceived as a threat to both beings so long as it existed. While he had some measure of compassion for the soul within the artificial abomination, he would not permit her to echo her sins after all was said and done.

This favor I now owe Grand Zeno may one day come back to haunt me, he thought as he held up a sphere to perceive the status of Unit-01, but you allowed this to befall the people…and you must pay the price for your arrogant ambitions.

To be continued…

A/N: This is my first crossover between these two franchises. Please, be gentle. This might be a three-part story. It all depends on how soon I get started on the next chapter.

But I wanted to see what could be done if I had my Brother Correction character have certain limits to what he can do and needed special approval to act beyond the scope of his authority in a place he had no authority in. This would also mean that he would have to owe a favor to whoever gave him permission, and this could imply that he and Grand Zeno had met at some point in the past and how he gained possession of a handful of universes to watch over until the time came for him to return them to Grand Zeno if he ever wanted them back. Anyway, until next time.
