Chapter 6: Like Riding A Bike

AN: Another update! I hope yall enjoy it, this was very fun to write!

Marron sat at her desk, biding her time as she kept glancing over to her phone. He never texted her after that encounter in his office. He usually always does, but then again, Marron hardly knew the man.

She grabbed her bag, with her lunch, and bee-lined towards the break room. It wasn't that she was annoyed…

No, she was annoyed. What bothered her, even more, was she couldn't pinpoint why. Trunks not contacting her should not be a cause for concern, nor should she get bitter about such a minuscule detail. He didn't owe her anything and the same goes the other way around.

She sat down in her chair, huffing as she stuffed a cold sandwich into her mouth. But a small part - no - a microscopic part of her dared to think of him with someone else and a sudden ire lit within her chest. Was that jealousy? Absolutely not.

Or so she'd say, then moments later her mind would bounce back to him, quick flashes of them intertwined, and the plethora of compromising situations he's had her in.

"You sure are eating that fast," a clear voice whispered behind her. Marron jumped, whipping her head around to find Coconu standing with a microwave meal in hand. "Mind if I sit here?"

"No, not at all," Marron sated, a quick blush creeping on her cheeks. "Sorry just, trying to have a quick lunch, I'm not mad or anything."

Coconu eyed her dubiously. "Uh-huh...that's why you are grumbling while scarfing your food down."

"I-I was not-" Marron began stuttering, she was in disbelief.

"Yeah, yeah, blondie you don't need to tell me," he patted her head as he sat beside her. "Look, you've been pretty frazzled lately...I know you just broke things off with Pensil but if you need someone to talk to, your childhood bestie is right here."

Marron sighed, leaning her head against his shoulder. "Coconu...it's just so weird…"

He dug his fork into the rice and looked over to her, "how so?"

"Well…" Marron entertained the idea of mentioning her current affairs, obviously omitting some of the more personal details. But she didn't think it would be too wise, not with the cards she's been dealt lately. "I am not going to lie, it's complicated...I'm just trapped in this weird cycle with this-"

Too much detail.

"I just — I don't know how to exactly handle this individual," Marron tried to remain vague. "We both agreed upon certain circumstances but I'm feeling like...there's a part of them that…"

"Why are you being so vague," Coconu asked, his palm on his cheek. "Is this an NDA-type deal?"

"W-What?!" Marron exclaimed, "n-no, nothing legally binding."

"Then…" Coconu paused, inching dangerously close to the blonde's face making her fluster in her seat. "What?"

Almost in the nick of time, they both heard a throat clear. Marron whipped her head around to find Trunks standing awkwardly at the doorway. "Was I interrupting something?"

"No!" Marron exclaimed, scooting away from Coconu.

"Now, Mr. Nucifera, let's not go around picking up cute girls at work, hm?" Trunks commented, taking a sip of his coffee cup.

Marron's face turned beet red, looking down at her food. She felt like she was sandwiched between the gaze of two very attractive men with no forms of escape. "Mr. Briefs, it's not-"

"Don't worry, I understand Ms. Chestnut...you can get easily flustered," Trunks commented, a knowing grin laced on his lips. Marron shot a deadly glare at her boss and she almost wishes he hadn't. He looked so cute.

See Marron, this is what I mean! She thought to herself, not helping herself by staring at the way his suit fit so perfectly on him. The lax way he leaned on the archway, she wondered how it would feel to—

Wait a minute…

What was she thinking?!

"Mr. Briefs, I can assure you nothing suspicious is occurring between Ms. Chestnut and I," Coconu insisted.

Trunks smiled, "no worries, I am not concerned."

"Well...I'll be taking my leave then…" Coconu cleared his throat, throwing out his plastic plate. "Those drafts won't finish themselves."

Trunks watched until he was out of an earshot, and looked over to the woman frozen in her seat. "Do you wanna do something cool?" Trunks asked Marron, who almost choked on her sandwich.

"What?" She coughed.

"Not that…" Trunks emphasized as he pulled out a small device. "I want you to be a test subject."

"A what?!" Marron shouted out. "First you blow me off via text, and now you are asking me to do some crazy scheme?"

"Oh...I forgot," Trunks palmed his forehead, "I spent all night making these...got lost in my work if you will."

Marron quirked her brow, approaching her boss, who smelled of wooden notes. "You're the perfect candidate, you're in peak physical condition!" He exclaimed, leaning closer to the blonde's ear, "trust me...I'd know," Trunks winked.

Her face grew into a sudden shade of pink. "What do I get out of this?"

"Who knows," Trunks shrugged, "I'll make it worthwhile."

She conceded, throwing out what remained of her lunch, following the taller lavender-haired man. "You're gonna love this, I hope," Trunks began, looking down at the shorter woman. "You know, I meant what I said…"

Marron turned her line of vision upwards toward Trunks who smiled lazily at her. "You are cute."

Was he flirting? At work? Marron's head was spinning. "Are you...you know...dating Coconu?" She turned her head quickly, shaking her head vigorously. "What, seriously?" Trunks asked, clicking the elevator button.

"Yeah, we are high school friends, I mean...maybe he has a thing for me?" Marron commented, "but nothing that I've noticed…"

Trunks' expression was hard to gauge. Marron glanced at his face trying to read him but it seemed he had glazed himself over. She looked away as soon as she noticed him give her a slight glance in her direction, pushing her glasses up nervously as they waited for the elevator to ding.

In a sudden motion, the blonde felt herself get spun and pinned against the metallic wall of the elevator, a knee placed between her legs as he looked down to her. "That's not what I saw," his voice was rumbly, a calloused finger running along her jawline as he tipped her chin up to him.

Woah… Marron was taken aback by the sudden shift in character. "You...you're jumping to conclusions," her face was getting warm, probably embarrassed with how close he was to her. She was definitely getting a good whiff of his cologne now.

On the offhand, the scent the hybrid couldn't get enough of returned, intermingled with a new undertone. Something he couldn't quite place a finger on. But he knew it was coming straight off Marron.

"Mr. Briefs isn't this a bit…" Marron bit the inside of her cheek feeling herself almost melting in his presence.

He was amused with her reactions, moments like this...he liked to relish in the aroma of her arousal. He kept pushing buttons, trying to figure out the inner workings of Marron. What made her tick? What turned on the fountains of lust within her?

"Inappropriate?" Trunks replied curtly as he separated, as the elevator reached their floor. "Mmm, maybe a tad bit," he responded. "Your reactions are always priceless though," he teased as he walked off the elevator into the executive floor.

Marron's eyes widened as she speedily ran beside him, nudging him in the ribs. "This is my second day appearing with you on this floor…" Marron bit out, "don't you think this is gonna raise some suspicions?"

"No," Trunks replied, "they know you're my little testing bunny."

Marron's eyes nearly popped out of her skull, turning her head over to her boss. "You mean testing subject?"

He didn't really mean for that to slip out, but now that it did...

"Oh, right..." Trunks feigned embarrassment, "I'll talk about that bunny thing later."

Why was she being strung along by this mad scientist's plans? God knows, but she found herself on the helicopter pad of the building, the wind was so intense, she could feel her long brown skirt daring to fly in all undesired locations.

Marron watched as he got down on one knee, causing the blonde to hastily step backward. "W-What are you?"

"Oh calm down, will ya?" Trunks scoffed, "Your shoe?"

Marron let out a sigh of relief, her shoe…

Wait...her shoe?

Was he into some weird feet thing? Is this why she was up here?

Trunks rolled his eyes, clicking a small device to the bottom of her shoes. "Alright Miss Scaredy Pants...I've got a treat for you," Trunks stated causing the blonde to blink, confusion struck across her face. "You've got our super-secret project attached to your shoes, remember Bulla flying around?"

"Y-Yeah?" Marron replied inquisitively. "I don't have those on do I?"

"Yes, you do!" Trunks stated, a bit too excitedly. He pressed down on a button on a remote, causing the blonde to float, quickly he noticed how panicked her face became.

"Why didn't you say anything?!" Marron screamed, "you better not leave me up he—" However before she could finish her rant, she felt Trunks slip right behind her. Her back was aptly guarded by him. "Not cool...you could have told me you have them on too…"

Trunks looked to his side, chuckling sheepishly. "I forgot," he lied.

"Yeah, okay…" Marron grumbled, holding his forearms for balance. Her hair flowed gently beside him, the distinct scent of strawberries mingling in the air, as he slipped his hands into hers, balancing her panicked movements.

It was obvious she'd never been taught to fly, though he was confident a student of the Kame-Sennin school had the ability. "You just gotta relax, you just got to aim the rockets in the angle of the direction you want to go in."

His voice was calming, it was like...he's done this his whole life. "You're scared of looking down?" Trunks whispered into her ear. "Take a look." His voice was gentle, coaxing her to relax as Marron breathed in the thin air.

Marron gulped, squeezing the grip of her hand as she looked down to find herself intermingling through the clouds, a small peek of the Capsule Corp building far below them. She was mesmerized by the glinting ocean of West City, the sun shining ever so brightly in the distance.

"Wow…" she sighed out, turning her head over to Trunks who has trying to hide a smile. "I see why Bull- I mean, Ms. Briefs,"

"Bulla is an avid fan of flying, she thinks it's fun to scare people with it," Trunks responded curtly. "Y'know Marron...you're holding on to me pretty tightly," he commented, causing Marron to loosen her grip slightly. Feeling herself dwell on the sound of her name on his lips.

"Sorry!" She responded sheepishly as she turned her body completely at him. "You're pretty good at this," she began, "how long has this been in the works?"

Trunks looked to the side, rubbing the back of his head. "Well, not too long," Trunks responded, his eyes evading Marron's inquisitive gaze.

"Hm...it seems like you're a natural at it," Marron quirked a brow at him. "Why'd you pick me?"

"Because I..." Trunks stopped his train of thought, staring straight into Marron's wide blue eyes. Brimming with curiosity, he reached out to his hands to balance. He wanted to see her smile...like this.

He always noticed her quiet demeanor, noting how solitary she would get if no one popped in to check. He knew she was going through a rough transition, even if he could never replace what's left...he seemed to watch her from afar, watching her bloom into herself. He didn't mind...being there, as a friend...of course.

"Because I know you were one of Kame-Sennin's pupils, you must have some physical resolve to be able to handle this!"

Marron laughed, feeling herself lose balance as she held tighter to his arm, not daring to move an inch.

Something about seeing her beside Coconu...did bring out a strange emotion he didn't anticipate. Not with the circumstances they've made for themselves, anyway. Aside from their sexual affairs, she was free to enjoy the company of other men...in fact, they agreed to do so. So why is he having such a difficult time accepting their terms and conditions now?

Trunks lifted her higher, watching her eyes widen as they found themselves in between a thick, fluffy cloud. It was...oddly intimate, for just a moment, as he pulled her closer. He watched her reddened face as a single thumb played with her thicker bottom lip. He took a moment to stare at her, drink in her face for a moment. She had a delicate heart-shaped face, with the smallest (but proportional) nose he's ever seen. Her doe-like eyes were fluttered by thick black eyelashes and pillowy lips that were almost the color of cherries.

He brushed the astray hairs away as he held her tightly with his other hand, descending his lips against hers. Marron was caught by surprise, not expecting such an intimate moment to arise. There was a thrill in being so utterly frightened of the situation, and yet being treated so gently, reassured she wasn't about to fall to her death…

As their lips parted, the air felt thick with an odd tension. She was shivering in his arms, unsure if from the cold breeze or from the kiss. "I—"

"Sorry," Trunks chuckled sheepishly, a hint of red peeking past his tan skin.

"Rule number 3…" Marron reiterated.

"Are we in Capsule Corp right now?" Trunks asked, "I think a little kiss wasn't going to hurt anyone?"

Marron, straightening out her skirt, locked her hands into his forearms, and looked him straight in the eyes. "You're testing me," she stated blankly.

Trunks chuckled as he brought her down to the helicopter pad, "more like you are testing me."

She quirked a brow, as her heels clicked down to the roof. "What do you mean?"

"Well…" Trunks began, "you're pretty cute."

Marron shot a defiant glare at him, "Are you done teasing me?" Marron responded, crossing her arms.

He slung an arm around her shoulder, leaning down to her level. "Never!"

She rolled her eyes, taking a step forward and spinning on her heel. "So Mr. Briefs…" Marron began, "am I good to return to my desk now?"

Trunks watched her, a brilliant expression was strewn across her face as the blonde from her hair shined brilliantly in the sun. "Not yet, I have a request," he chimed in, "Don't worry, it has nothing to do with the bunny thing…"

Marron let out a sigh of relief.

"I…" Trunks stuffed his hands into his pockets, "I was wondering if you had wanted to...go somewhere, tonight."

"Are you asking me on a date?" Marron replied, in a mocking tone.

"No, ew," Trunks joked. "I think it'd be a nice change of course from our usual meet-ups, wouldn't you say?"

"Alright, alright," Marron waved her hands, "I'll go on this not-date with you, I haven't taken out any food to defrost anyway."

"I'll meet you at seven tonight, I'll text you the address," with that, Trunks disappeared into the building, leaving the blonde dumbstruck. Now to find her way back to accounting without rousing suspicion.

Marron looked down to her phone, she hoped she wasn't under-dressed, but as she pulled up to the address sent to her...it seemed like her worries were quelled rather quickly. She donned a white corset top (tied rather tightly, if you'd ask her) with translucent sleeves falling gently past her shoulders down to her wrists.

She stood in front of the izakaya, there was a line of drunkards singing along some popular song as Marron leaned herself defensively against the brick wall, idly tightening her half-up half-down pigtails a bit tighter. She waited around, in front of the door, pointing the tip of her heels against the concrete sidewalk.

She felt a presence creep behind her, she turned around catching Trunks just a couple of feet away from her. "Wow," he paused, glancing at the blonde's suddenly bubbly appearance, "here I thought you only defaulted to a librarian."

"Well, Briefs...I can do more than just that," Marron winked. "Have you so little faith in me?" She replied, a small pout on her lip.

She hated to admit it but he looked good himself. Her eyes were drawn to the deep v-neck of his black and gold patterned silk t-shirt, tucked loosely into black pants. "So are you gonna keep gawking at me or are we gonna have dinner," Trunks replied slyly, noticing how long she stared.

The blonde cast a knowing glance at him, before walking inside the premises.

The two were sat in a booth, away from the crowd. Marron looked up from the menu, this location isn't similar to the one by their job. They were about 30 minutes out from West City, deep in the "hip" neighborhoods of the city. There were lanterns dimly lighting the restaurant, creating a very cozy environment.

"Y'know what you want?" Trunks asked, his eyes not tearing from the menu.

"Uh…" she hadn't even taken a look at the menu. "I'm not sure," Marron scanned over the menu. Yakitori, karaage, kushiyaki...she could almost drool. "What are you ordering?" Marron peered over her menu, taking a quick peek at Trunks, noticing the multiple thick gold thick rings on his fingers, matching in karat to the Cuban link on his neck.

"I'll get two of everything, to start…" Trunks stated plainly.

"To start?" Marron almost squeaked out. Was this man serious?

"Yeah, I'll see if I'm still hungry after that...maybe some drinks?" Trunks continued, he closed the menu, placing the menu down, sliding it to the side. "You can take some stuff from my plate if you're unsure," Trunks added, "can't promise I won't devour it all though."

"What are you the world's biggest show-off and the fastest eater in the world?" Marron mocked, placing her cheek in her palm.

"Yes and no...that would go to my dad," Trunks replied. "What makes you think I'm a show-off?"

"You're wearing red bottom dress shoes, have a thick gold chain on and multiple twenty-four karat jewelry on...who exactly are you trying to impress?" Marrons scoffed.

She felt her personal bubble be slowly pressed in as he leaned closer to her across the table, "you, obviously." His smirk was mischievously irresistible.

A waitress came by, grabbing Trunks' large order, leaving the two alone once more. "Question," Marron began as she took a sip of her water.

"Okay...shoot," Trunks replied.

"How do you always know where I'm at?" Marron asked. She sipped on her straw, glancing up at him. "It's like...today, you found me...capsule corp is massive, and there are about three to five lunchrooms on my floor alone."

Trunks looked around, awkwardly tugging on the chain on his neck.

"You keepin' tabs on me Briefs?" She pointed her paper straw accusingly towards him.

"Naw, just common sense," Trunks said rather smugly. That wasn't exactly a lie, he deduced Marron would be in one of the lunchrooms on her floor, but it was really his ki sensing that let him track her energy signature.

"Now it's my turn," Trunks asked as the waitress set down the jugs of beer. He took a sip and gave Marron a pointed stare. "Why are you denying Coconu's feelings?"

She was taken aback by his statement. "Goin' straight for the deep stuff, huh?" She stared off to the distance. "I never saw him that way, he's attractive, but…"

"There's a but?" Trunks quirked a brow. "You and him would make a great match!" He exclaimed.

The truth was, saying that made him feel like acid was bubbling up his throat. He could almost taste the bitterness on his tongue.

"You think?" Marron asked, looking down with an unfamiliar emotion glazed over her eyes. "Well, Valese thinks the same…" Marron commented, drumming her nails against the wood. "I just...didn't expect him to look the way he did when we reconnected."

"It happens," Trunks stated briefly, taking another sip of his beer, "puberty will hit some people like a truck."

Marron snorted. "You're telling me?" She asked, leaning her head on her hand. "I didn't grow a nose until I was thirteen…"

"What?!" Trunks exclaimed, now getting closer to her face. "No way, how?"

She brushed a manicured finger past her brow hair. "My dad was a short, noseless monk…"

"I bet you looked cute without it," Trunks teased.

She rolled her eyes taking a sip of her drink. "You say that now, but most people teased me about it...Coconu was always there to make me feel better…"

"See, match made in heaven," Trunks replied, smiling painfully.

Marron nodded. "I just...don't think he sees me that way...he's probably just being nice," Marron replied sheepishly.

"No way," he responded. "He definitely has a thing for you, I promise you."

Marron eyed the man, giving a slightly sultry glance as she leaned herself against the table, granting an ample angle of her cleavage. "Say," she began, "why are you so interested in my love life?"

"I-"

"Can't answer?" Marron interjected as the food arrived on the table, a collection of different grilled meat in skewers. Others fried into bite-sized chunks.

"You know, outside of work you're a lot more brazen than you let out to be," Trunks stated.

"How's that?" Marron questioned, as she popped a kaarage in her mouth.

"Well," Trunks said as he grabbed a skewer, "you're acting a whole lot more confident than you did earlier today at work, do you have a double persona I should know about, Ms. Chestnut?"

She watched as he devoured the food with a ridiculous speed, she had never seen a man eat his food so voraciously. "Uhm…" she wanted to respond but she was rendered speechless. "Are you even-"

Trunks gulped, taking a sip of his beer. "Breathing?" Trunks asked, "yeah."

Marron cautiously grabbed a skewer from the table, watching Trunks down his food. She hadn't noticed how his beer was perpetually full. She glanced over to the waitress who kept refilling his drink. One jug turned to five, all while Marron tried to keep up with the

As the voracious eating slowed down, she watched as his cheeks were pinker than she remembered. However, she too had gotten a bit buzzed, granted she only drank one jug of whatever beer they had. She found herself sliding beside him in the small booth.

This rung a bell.

This scenario.

"Hey," Marron said flirtatiously- or so, she believed. "You ate pretty fast," she was giggling at the half-lidded man's face, "are you still hungry?"

A lazy grin spread across his face, "what are you offering?"

"Why don't we get out of here and you can find out?" Marron giggled her manicured fingers playing with the chain on his neck.

This time, the two stumbled their way into a hotel room, though the details were blurred. They were too focused on each other to pay much mind to the minute details. There were purple neon lights illuminating the bedroom as the two crashed down on the soft mattress.

This alcohol had Marron acting out of her norm, her face burned but she wasn't turning away but leaning into her desires. He untied the corset top, watching mesmerized as her breasts fell with a bounce. She raked her hands along his scalp, tugging the lavender tresses as he descended upon her breasts, looking up at her in an almost mischievous manner.

"I have a request."

Marron froze, blinking at him.

"Okay?"
