The Dragon's Legacy

Summary: When Yang was given an insight to her family's heritage and ultimately unlocking her true potential. Also, how I imagined that Bumblebee should be. Set after Blake had left. All mistakes are mine and I don't own anything. Speaking through their thoughts: Yang- bold her power-italic

She had been left completely alone. She was shocked at first. Then she was just depressed. Her father expected her to be right as rain even though inside she just felt hollow. She refused to believe that she was the reason that everyone left her.

Her mother, Summer, her father in a sense, and now Blake and Ruby were added to the list. She was struggling with not only the loss of her arm, but the loss of her partner. One she wanted so much more from.

Her heart ached each day she woke up to realize Blake wasn't with her and neither was her arm. One was crippling as it was and the other just broke her heart.

She was getting restless, so she had gone for a walk just to get some air when she heard a rumble.

A deep whisper that called to her in a way that was vaguely familiar. She turned and realized she had wondered to the caves.

These very caves had been forbidden to both her and by extension Ruby since she could remember.

Yes, she had set out to find her mother before. Never had she entered the caves because she remembered how intense and serious Tai had been.

She had only dared once to go near them, but again Qrowe was there to stop her from going any further.

Shaking off the foreboding trepidation she felt she ventured forward.

The whispers that surrounded her were slowly growing. She ventured deeper still, and she was determined to discover what was so bad.

She had been walking for what seemed hours and she was coming to where it was almost too dark for the common human to see.

She had walked into something enormous. It made her stumble back a bit. It's texture was so rough, but it felt like a warm living stone to her. She activated her semblance so she could have a better view.

What she had stumbled upon was a great gold dragon.

It was roughly the size of a gigantic castle. Her eyes had widened, and she stood there frozen in place.

She was barely the size of its eye. It had opened one of its great big eyes and she was stunned to recognize her own lilac within this beast's gaze.

"So, you've finally found me."

"I can hear you!"

"Of course, you can."

"Why?"

This time Yang had answered in thought.

"We are related dear one."

"Really?! That is amazing!"

"Your name literally translates into little dragon."

"Why then was I forbidden from seeing you?!"

"Your father thought it wouldn't be wise to have you reach your true potential at such a young age even if I disagreed."

"So how exactly are we related?"

"That is a long story."

"I have time please."

Yang sat down and huddled close.

"Very well. You come from a long line of ancient dragon blood. When our kind is born an innate power is born alongside them.

Each dragon before them was able to pass down knowledge and power to each new fledgling.

Sometimes their power would manifest in the form of a dragon.

The strongest of our line each had this in common.

When you were born you were the strongest and the brightest this line had ever seen to be treasured always.

To keep you from feeling entitled or trained properly in our ways your father decided to lock your power away and raise you normally.

Your mother never knew as far as we were aware. Her mind was on other matters mostly the loss of her mate Summer.

At once I am all of your family that have come to pass and a piece of you that has been separated from you with the purpose of making you being able to stand strong on your own."

"A lot of good that did. I couldn't even protect Blake properly and lost a limb for being too weak against Adam."

"Do you think you would be ready to finally be one?"

"I want to train first. I want to earn you."

"Earn? I am your birth right!"

Was growled in her mind.

"I don't even know what to call you!"

"I am you and with the power I will give you, you will be whole in more ways than one."

"You mean…"

"Yes."

"I will come back and accept you once I have improved upon my fighting tactics."

"Upon your return speak the words aloud: I, Yang Xiao-Long, accept my power for it is in my blood to be a dragon."

"Ok, I will return."

The great dragon blinked at her in acceptance then went to sleep. Yang then made her way back home.
