Chapter One: Meeting Alexis

"You'll like it out here. The creek is an amazing place for all kids." Josh says as Alexis is following him towards the woods.

"Are you certain this wise? I mean what if they find out? They'll freak." Alexis says worriedly.

"Not if you don't tell them. Think of it like telling me your secret and me keeping it safe in a bottle somewhere. Except it's not in a bottle it's in our minds between you and me." Josh says unworriedly.

"Okay. If you say so." Alexis says nervously.

*Timeskip*

As Alexis follows Josh up to a spot with some kids sitting and eating she notices many of them staring at her.

"Hey Secret Kid." A dark skinned girl behind a counter says.

"Secret Kid?" Alexis asks as she looks at Josh.

"They don't know my name like you do. So that's what they call me. Since I keep the secrets in the creek." Josh says.

"Oh." Alexis says as the girl then looks at Alexis.

"Who's this?" The dark skinned girl asks.

"Kit this is my sister Alexis. Alexis this is Kit. She basically runs the trading tree where you can get snacks and all kinds of stuff." Josh says as Alexis nervously looks at the dark skinned girl.

"So is this your first time at the creek?" Kit asks as Alexis nods.

"Um.." Alexis says nervously.

"She can be a bit shy." Josh says as Alexis looks at him.

"Well don't worry. I don't bite. What can I get you guys?" Kit asks kindly.

"Two chocorolls please." Josh says.

"Sure and these two are on the house today. Call it a welcome to the creek for your sister." Kit says as she hands Josh the two chocolate rolls.

"Thanks Kit." Josh says.

"Thank you." Alexis says as she follows Josh over to under a tree to sit down before three kids come over.

"Hey Secret Kid. Who's this with you? I've never seen her around before." A dark skinned boy says as Alexis looks at him before whispering in Josh's ear.

"What did she say?" A red haired girl with a bird asks.

"She asked why everyone keeps staring at her. It's okay. This is actually pretty normal when a new kid comes to the creek." Josh says as Alexis nods.

"You guys know each other?" A boy in a stripped shirt asks.

"Yes. She is my sister Alexis. This is her first time at the creek." Josh says.

"Forgive me but why is it so normal that people are starting at new kids?" Alexis asks as she sees people continually staring.

"They just are thing to find out if you belong to one of the play groups. Don't be surprised if they try to get you to join them otherwise." The girl says.

"Don't take this the wrong way but I would greatly prefer to play with my brother. Besides I love exploring and rather be myself more often than not." Alexis says.

"You're an explorer too!? Cool!" The dark skinned boy says excitedly.

"Um.. yeah.. why?" Alexis asks as the boys shows her a map.

"I love to explore the creek. I've been mapping it for a long time." The boy says as Alexis looks at the map.

"That must of taken a while. I am similar with sights I find interesting. I have a sketch book full of places." Alexis says as she hands the boy her sketchbook.

"Wow. You're even better at drawing then I am." The boy says impressed.

"Thank you. You're good too though. I mean I haven't met anyone who puts this much detail in things besides me." Alexis says as she smiles causing Josh to smile.

"I think my work here is done. I'll be back at the my secret keeping hideout. Come find me there when it's time for dinner. A horn will be blown when it's time to leave." Josh says as he stands up and leaves.

"So you're related to the Secret Kid? You guys don't look anything alike." The dark skinned boy says.

"Well I uh get my looks from another family member." Alexis says nervously.

"Do you have any pets?" The girl asks as Alexis nods.

"Yes actually. I have an exotic pet. A snow fox. I actually sketched her in the book with my brother." Alexis says as she shows the kids the page.

"Wow. She looks so fluffy." The boy in the striped shirt says.

"Oh she is. Highly excitable too but very loving and protective. I received her as a gift from our dad. He thought she might keep me company when Josh was out here and she does." Alexis says as she smiles.

"I can't believe the Secret Kid never said anything about having a sister. You're so cool!" The girl says.

"I'm not really but thanks for the compliment. I never did catch your names." Alexis says.

"I'm J.P. It's cool to meet you." The boy in the striped shirt says kindly.

"J.P.?" Alexis asks.

"It's short for John Paul." J.P. says.

"Well I like it." Alexis says kindly.

"I'm Kelsey. I'm a warrior and this is Mortimer. He's my trusty and faithful falcon. Well not really but still." The girl says as she gestures to the bird on her head.

"I think he looks just like a falcon. Besides he may be tiny but he looks mighty and looks can be deceiving." Alexis says as the bird tweets and flies over to her shoulder.

"I think he likes you. Anyway I'm Craig. It's really nice to meet a fellow explorer. Welcome to the creek Alexis." The dark skinned boy says as he smiles.

"Thank you. So how long are these kids just going to stare at me? It's kind of creepy." Alexis says creeped out.

"Well how about you join our group? Whenever you're not with us you're welcome to hang out with your brother. That way they won't pester you to join their groups and they'll knock off some of the staring." Craig says kindly.

"I'd like that." Alexis says as she smiles.

"Hey she's with us. Back off! She's part of our group!" Kelsey shouts as she runs around a bit.

"Man she's loud." Alexis says as she looks at Kelsey.

"Yeah but you get used to it." J.P. says.

"Well I'm glad I'm a part of your group. I guess some good did come out of my brother bringing me to the creek today." Alexis says as she giggled slightly.
