A/N: Heyo! I know I have like… a billion other things to write/update but I wanted to do a songfic for a change! Sadistic Pumpkin is one of my favorite Halloween Vocaloid songs and one of the most underrated in my opinion. I decided to interpret in the best way I could think with the little story info I already had from the song. I also tried not to copy and paste anything, just letting the lyrics fit in naturally and I think I fit everything in some way or another.

With all that out of the way... there are two Trigger Warnings for the following: Implied Child Abuse and Implied Sexual Abuse. If you can not handle these themes then please don't read! Can't have that on my conscience o_O

If you don't get triggered by the above topics then enjoy my Halloween special!

In a graveyard full of twisted trees and old graves without a soul left to care for them, a girl with short blonde hair walks by. She rubs her fingers against the hard stone as she walks by the desolate place. The sun has just set, the only thing illuminating the girl's path are street lights from beyond the gate. She came here, however, to look for something. Something she lost long ago. Taking a few more steps forward she can feel her foot hit something harder than the stray twigs from trees. Moving her foot to the side she sees an old and broken cane on the ground. It had been made of fine wood but covered in dry blood. The wood had been cracked and broken in many places. The girl gingerly picked it up as if she were carrying the most fragile glass statue. Seeing the cane again the girl thought back on its original owner. The one she dubbed "Pumpkin Boy"

Many years prior this young girl had much longer hair and found this small graveyard a comfort in her torturous life. It was a very old graveyard without a single relative left alive to honor the memory of the dead resting there. Only Rin Kagamine visited, often talking with the graves out of boredom or dicking around with whatever she found in the area. It was a chilly October and pumpkins often lined the streets. One nearby had already begun to rot after it was carved so Rin carried it back to the graveyard. She had asked that man for some honey and he gave it to her. She began to cover the pumpkin in the honey, trying to restore some life to it with the sweet substance. It was a pointless endeavor, honey would not fix the pumpkin but Rin had nothing better to do. Looking down at her mess she saw herself in her creation. Hollow and overflowing with sweet nothings and oh so very empty...

"Well that's a waste."

Hearing an unknown voice behind her Rin flinched and turned around. Behind her was a skinny boy who stood with the help of an expensive wooden cane. He had blonde hair similar to hers and carried himself in a proper yet inauthentic way. He was still young so any airs he had been putting on must have been copied from adults. Rin understood what it meant to copy others very well.

"Who are you?" Rin asked.

"Who am I?" The boy mimicked coyly.

"Just answer the question," Rin replied back without a shred of emotion. The boy stopped for a second to study the girl's face. There was no sign of fear or annoyance or pain. It was simply an empty expression.

"Well it doesn't matter anyway, I'll be dead by the end of the year anyway."

"How do you know that?" The girl asked.

"The doctors told me, I'm lucky to be alive right now."

"Shouldn't you be in a hospital or something then?" Rin asked.

"Should I?" The boy hummed in response, "I actually just transferred to the big hospital here. My family is still holding out hope for one last time but I know it won't work out."

Rin didn't respond. She didn't know-how.

"I like to go through graveyards, it makes me more prepared for the inevitable. But why are you here trying to fill a pumpkin with honey?" The boy finally had his turn to ask Rin a question.

"I was trying to fill it up."

"That would be pretty hard. You don't have enough honey and even if you did it would all just leak out of the holes," The boy said matter of factly looking at the pathetic piece of produce.

"You're right. It can never be filled. I know that too well." Rin responded, the words sounded poetic but there was no emotion to them. Rin then reached out to get a glob of running honey on her finger. She put the finger in her mouth and sucked the honey off.

"That won't do!" The boy said yanking Rin's hand out of her mouth. "You need a real treat! One that won't taste like rotting pumpkin and your own flesh."

"I usually don't get to eat treats like that," Rin informed him.

"If you come at this time every other day I'll give you one! Promise!" The boy beamed a smile at Rin.

"Okay, but will you tell me your name?"

"Nope!" His smile never faded.

Rin returned home shortly after the encounter. Sitting at the table was that man.

"I made you favorite! Pumpkin soup!" The man said as Rin sat down.

"Thank you," She said grabbing her spoon and taking a sip of the bland soup.

"Well will you look at that!" The man suddenly exclaimed, leaning over the table to look at Rin. "It looks like you have some color to your face today! If I were a betting man I'd put money on something really good happening today."

"I guess you could say that," Rin responded blankly, just like she normally does.

"Hmm alright," The man said, giving the girl a sigh and standing up. "I finished my dinner so come to my office when you are done, you got that dear?"

"Yes sir…" Rin responded. When she was gone she stared blankly into the soup, just like a broken doll.

After their first encounter, Rin began to visit the boy every other day at the cemetery. Just like he promised he often brought Rin cookies and candy to eat. He also brought picture books and card games that the two would enjoy while sitting on the fence closest to the street lights.

One day near the end of October the boy, who Rin would often call "Pumpkin Boy" (much to his amusement) had claimed to have figured out why Rin could show no emotion around others.

"You young girl, you have abandoned your heart!"

"Good because I can't feel anything anymore."

"Wait a moment!?" The so-called "gentlemen" exclaimed as Rin got up. While she couldn't feel the true emotion she had been practicing mimicking the boy. She gave a hollow smile.

"Come over here for a trick or treat?" Rin asked sweetly. The boy just laughed.

"It sounds like you are flirting with me," He said in between chuckles.

"What if I am?" The girl asked. The boy awkwardly stood up and walked over to the girl.
"There is nothing to gain from pretending to love me," The boy said.

"But you are the only one who can make me feel this way, and besides I'm just mimicking you so... how do you feel about me?" The girl asked innocently.

"...It doesn't matter. The doctors haven't found a cure for my disease. I'll be dead by December."

"Okay… I understand." But she didn't. Did she feel hurt? "Can I just ask for one thing?"

"What is it?" The boy asked, forcing a smile back to his face.

"Can you try to come to see me tomorrow? It's Halloween. I want to walk the streets with someone and get candy. I've never done that before."

"I will if I can get past my nurse, and hopefully my mom doesn't kill me for eating some candy," The sickly boy laughed a bit at the irony of his own statement.

"I will look forward to seeing you."

When Rin returned home that man was gone. He sometimes went out late at night and didn't return until late. Rin decided to make her dinner for that night, the only thing they had ingredients for was pumpkin soup. After Rin finished making dinner that man had returned home.

"W-Welcome home," she squeaked out when she heard his footsteps arrive in the kitchen.

The man just stumbled to her and collapsed in her arms for a moment. He smelled like 10 taverns combined. Rin hated when he returned like this.

"Would you like dinner?" Rin asked, she held a ladle in her hand and was ready to serve him.

"Leh me pry open… that door... to your ssssecrets…" The man slurred as his breath ran down Rin's neck. He pinned her to the floor. Her head bonked against the table and the pumpkin soup rattled right above her. The boiling meal was on the verge of spilling on top of her. On the bright side it would hit this detestable man too.

Most nights were like this for Rin. A nightmarish scenario filled with pleasure and desire. That man's breath was hot and heavy, he began to caress the girl. Most nights she just laid like the broken doll she was. Tonight was different.

Rin suddenly pushed that man off of her. He was drunk and startled so she easily got him off of her as he barreled into the table leg. The boiling hot soup hit the man. Some got on Rin as well but when she heard that man's cries she knew this was her only time to escape. So Rin got up and ran.

Exhaustion overran the girl however she tried not to let it stop her. When she got a quick breath she saw beneath her feet a dead cat covered in butterflies that were attracted to the bitter taste. Rin knew if she stopped running she'd end up just like that cat. As she ran towards the cemetery, not even the oncoming rain could stop her. Please be there Pumpkin Boy! I need the magic of treats to help me!

Rin eventually came to the cemetery. She couldn't see the boy and began to panic. As the rain hit her face she was uncertain if tears were mixing in with the droplets. She had never cried before, could she do it now?

"I can't let this be!" Soon the girl heard a familiar yet worried voice. She looked up to see the pumpkin boy with a pumpkin bucket and flashlight, he was shining it at her. With the flashlight, he could see she ran out in a muddy nightgown. She also had cuts and bruises and for the first time a look akin to fear. He knew something was wrong so he bent down to meet her. But when he got closer he could see her smile. What for? His face scrunched up in bemusement. Why is she smiling?

"Are you happy about this reunion?" He asked.

The girl replied, "I don't know."

"What happened?" the boy asked. Rin did her best to explain. The boy just nodded and listened.

"Is this why it is hard for you to show emotions?" The boy asked.

"I had to throw my heart away, it was the only way I could live," Rin said as she choked out a sound like a sob. However her heart was far from gone, and the boy would prove it to her.

"If you have lost your heart girl, it must be around." The boy suggested as he took the girl's hand and pulled her up. "We will look for it together."

"Why would you help me?" Rin asked.

"Because I want to end this so we can see the morning together!"

The boy led Rin through the cemetery. His goal was actually to take her to the police, hopefully, they could help her. She could get help and find her heart again.

However they were cut off by that man holding a broken beer bottle.

"Where have you run off to dEARRRRRRR!" The voice echoed out and made Rin flinch. The boy held her hand tighter.

"You never told me your name," The boy said to Rin, ignoring the man much to his chagrin.

"Rin…" She said.

"My name is Len," The boy said, giving her a sad smile. Why did he tell her now? He had told Rin it didn't matter.

"Don't ignore me, prince charming!" That man said with a gagging sound. "Who do you think you are acting all high and mighty with my creation! Have you given your heart to that freak?" He asked.

"No. I haven't used my heart. What's the use If I can fall for you instead?" Len asked. The last part was said to Rin, confirming his mutual feelings for her. Len lifted up the cane to defend Rin. He landed a strike which angered the man.

"Don't try me!" The man put the broken end of his bottle into Len's left eye.

"Len!" Rin cried out as the boy cried in anguish. The man was about to land another blow as the short boy was defenseless but he didn't expect the boy to attack back with a passion twice as strong.

Len hit the man over and over again with his wooden cane. The cane began to crack while blood splattered everywhere. Soon that man's cries got quieter and quieter until he no longer made any movements. As blood ran down the boy's face he looked back at Rin, he seemed different from before. He was no longer her bright Pumpkin Boy. But as Rin trembled and sobbed she realized she had become different too.

Rin tried to reach out to Len but as soon as she felt like she had grasped him he was gone.

The rain continued to fall on that cold Halloween night. Rin was left alone with a corpse and her sobs as the sun began to rise. That boy did not reflect in the morning like he had wanted to. It was as if the rain of this Halloween night had turned him invisible.

Letting the tears fall across her cheeks the young girl realized that he had given her one last treat. It was his heart. He gave up his heart for her recovery.

Rin sighed as she finished fixing the cane… okay well fixing might not be the right term… Rin had brought duck tape to close up the cracks, wrapping her shoddy work in purple and orange ribbons and putting a pumpkin at the end. She then descended further into the cemetery.

The kids nowadays talk about somebody that haunts this cemetery. The cruel and sadistic Jack-O-Lantern with beautiful blonde hair.

Rin laughed and laughed, thinking about the boy that had no desire to be remembered had now become an urban legend. She continued laughing for minutes until that feeling of emptiness filled up her heart. Feeling that way made her feel connected to the boy again.

She wondered if Len would like her offering, or if he'd like this new version of her at all. But really she didn't care if he played with her, destroyed her and ruined her sanity. She could be his toy. Tonight she'd even be his cute pumpkin. She would even disappear at the end of Halloween with him; she had to repay him for his heart after all. And maybe like before they could share this heart and their love.

With this thought in mind, Rin descended further into the cemetery… never to be seen again.

A/N: Okay I originally planned to call "That guy" "The Scientist" with the illusion that Rin was like… undead cause spooky but I left it vague so you can interpret her lack of a heart in a figurative and literal sense. That then opens the question: did Len live or die after fighting that man? Is Rin literally going to join the "Jack-O-Lanturn" Len or does she plan to join her Len in death? You don't have to choose one. Maybe you even have your own idea that I never thought of! Let me know in the reviews or add this to your favorites if you enjoyed this!
