Prologue: The Calm Before the Storm

Nico, Lady, Trish and Patty blinked for the tenth time as Nero told them what had happened and about the letter from the Council. Nico nodded as the news sank in.

"I see why they did that." She said. "Since Dante saved Fortuna, and he bein' the Son of Sparda, they feel it's best and sensible that he should take over." Nero blinked at his friend and inspected her. "Bro, what's up with ye?"

"Ok, it's you." Nero said in relief. "I thought you were a body snatcher. You went all logical on my ass." Dante chuckled but was holding the letter in his hand as he would a snake, far away from him!

"Seriously, they want you to take up the Lord mantle?" Lady asked in shock. "Are they smoking?"

"Yea but they're nuts!" Dante said as he began to pace around as he slammed the letter onto the desk. "Do I look like Lord material?" Nero and Vera grinned.

"You could be." Vera said with a grin and chuckle. Nero snickered while Dante gulped then smirking.

"Fine…my Lady." He teased. Vera lightly whapped him. Nero dropped down laughing hysterically. Dante smirked further. "You'll be the loveliest Lady who's ever graced Fortuna."

"Don't make me blush." Vera giggled, her cheeks aflame. Nero couldn't stop laughing. They already sounded like an old married couple.

"Oh Babe, you know it's true. You're a knockout." Dante chuckled as he hugged the elder. Vera sighed softly and shook her head.

"What am I going to do with you?" She sighed. Dante smiled and kissed her softly.

"Just love me." He whispered. Vera smiled and lightly whapped the younger upside the head again as she picked up the letter and re-reading the contents for herself.

"Killjoy," Dante pouted. Vera chuckled and went back to reading the letter.

"Oh, you will need to be schooled." She said, a wicked grin gracing her lips. "I am so not missing this."

"No fucking way!" Dante said as he read over her shoulder, re reading then grinning. "Ha, so do you Babe."

"Pardon?" Vera asked, blinking. Dante pointed and Vera read silently before her green blue eyes widened. "Oh no…..Oh, I can't do this!"

"What is going on?" Nero asked. Vera handed the letter over to her son and Nero read. After a bit, the Holy Knight/ Devil Hunter laughed. "Guys, this is nothing. Even I have to be schooled."

"At least you'll get to wear pants." Vera grumbled. "Ill have to go to Charm School and...bring my own fan!" Dante snickered.

"Ah don't worry Babe, I'll make sure only I am looking up your skirt and down your front. I'll even sneak a few kisses behind that fan of yours!"

"That is not comforting." The elder said as Dante and Nero laughed. Nero was laughing even further when he heard Dante hum a song. Nico howled with laughter as she recognized the song.

"What?" Vera asked as she blinked. Nico and Nero snickered but kept silent while Dante leaned and kissed her cheek.

"Nothing Babe." He grinned as he continued to hum and walk away picking up the letter and re reading it. Vera rolled his eyes.

"Bullshit!" The elder swore and Nero gasped. He didn't expect his Mother to swear! Nico and Dante laughed.

" See Babe, I'm rubbing off on you already!" He called. Vera growled and flipped him. Dante gasped.

"Now, that's no way for my lady to behave."

"Bite me." Vera said as she went to check on dinner, causing the trio to laugh harder.
