A/N: Please enjoy this little foray into the Legend of Zelda and the Linked Universe of mine.

Link was tired.

The constant assassination attempts were slowly getting to him and the Yiga themselves were getting rather desperate after the death of their Master Kohga.

Poisoned apples? Those he could spot from a mile away. Poisoned bananas?

Now those were an interesting way to try and kill him; the fact that the Yiga assassins had managed to sneak some poisoned bananas (he could only imagine how hard it made them weep as they injected their favoured food with arsenic) into his pack, let alone his slate.

(Maybe they'd set it up on purpose, hoping to catch him out? He couldn't think like that, he was already paranoid enough as it is.)

He had been sitting on Proxim Bridge when he'd come across Brigo, and accidentally scared the daylights out of him. Brigo had already caught him (once, or twice) just standing on the ledge of the bridge, staring out into the distance or down beneath him.

Link didn't think of death much. No, that was a lie, he thought of death fairly frequently, but never his own. He already had vague recollections of how he had once died, and he didn't exactly need to relive those memories constantly. The deaths that Link thought about were those of his friends, his fellow Champions. A morbid curiosity one could call it, but the constant thought of his friends dying alone, unknowing of if Link, or Zelda or any of the other champions survived plagued him day and night.

It was on one of those days that he had scared Brigo again.

"You have got to stop doing that, Link!" Brigo had been clutching his chest as he said it, wheezing. "I'm terrified that one day…"

Link had stopped him before he could continue, his voice quieter than most, "You know I wouldn't do that. I couldn't do that."

Brigo had sighed, running a weary hand through his hair.

"You say that, but there's been too many who've just…"

They both went silent, thinking of the many who had lost their battles and couldn't see a way out. Since the end of the Calamity, there hadn't been as many deaths by suicide, from what the Stable workers and the few patrols had been able to tell, but the sense of helplessness didn't go away completely even when Zelda and Link had managed to complete their mission.

A change of topics was needed, one far less depressing, so Link asked Brigo if anything interesting had happened since his last visit through the area.

Brigo, relieved at the change of topic answered.

"Now that you mention it, a group of Hylian's came through here maybe a few hours ago, all dressed as though they were ready for battle. They didn't stop long, but they were asking about you."

Link was immediately on guard.

"Yiga?"

Brigo shook his head, "No. I casually mentioned banana's, but they didn't really react."

He pondered for a moment, before adding. "I think that they were genuine. And one looked like they were wearing a fur stole similar to the fur of that wolf that used to follow you around."

Wolfie. Or as Link had found out, mere weeks into their shared travels, a man also named Link, who once went by the name of Twilight.

Though Twilight was seemingly stuck in his wolf form, there were few occasions where he had managed to take his Hylian form. Blood moons in particular, or when the two of them visited the Fairy Fountains dotted around Hyrule.

Link and Wolfie had known that the two of them would end up going their separate ways, especially after the Calamity was defeated, but even then it was a hard thing for either Link to think about.

So why now was Twilight back? And he was travelling, not as a wolf, but as himself. With others. He never thought that he would see him again. Link knew for sure that even though they were clearly asking after him, he needed to see his friend, his brother again.

It was almost dusk as the chain made their way through the cavern between the Dueling Peaks.

Twilight knew this world, almost as well as he knew his own Hyrule.

He hadn't mentioned that to any of the others though, he wasn't quite ready to trust each and everyone of these Heroes; they could, would, eventually become pack, but the only one (two) for which that was currently true was the Hero of Time and that was only due to a shared past (future) that only one of them truly remembered. (Especially considering that the last of them had only joined them three days ago. Three days before they were brought here to this world. Some selfish part of him wanted to keep his cub as much of a secret and as far away from another adventure as possible. He had already been through far too much.)

He had vague recollections of the Link of this world mentioning Brigo and his constant patrols across Proxim Bridge and how, if you weren't Yiga or clearly an enemy, he would give instructions towards the nearest settlements, villages and stables.

With the Dueling Peaks stables ahead, he knew that they were nearby (or as close to) the stables as possible. it may take a day, but they would get there and hopefully then he would be able to enquire if Link had been through. Or at least hopefully get a message to his little brother. He didn't want to surprise him, at least not too badly.

The Champion didn't really do all that well with surprises.

And Twilight's reappearance in his life would definitely be considered a surprise; and hopefully a welcome one.

"What was with all of those banana questions?" Legend asked, staring around at their surroundings with slight trepidation and awe.

Fuck the Yiga.

He didn't verbalise it, but he did tense and hiss, making Time eye him warily. Luckily none of the others noticed.

"Maybe the people of this Hyrule just really dislike bananas?"

He would have laughed, because it was as accurate an assumption as Wind would be able to make without context.

As they made their way towards the stables, they could feel the stares of many a traveller. And Twilight could understand why.

They were all incredibly well-decked out in both weaponry and armour, and a large enough group that could come across as highly intimidating (even if a number of them looked as though they could be children). Add into that they were talking about 'finding Link'. People who dealt with Yiga bullshit on a daily basis really did deserve to be suspicious.

The Big Twin Bridge was just as he remembered it, every crack and loose board.

"We should see if they have any beds available, we don't need to be caught unawares in a new Hyrule."

Time was ever the voice of reason, as the others agreed.

"My feet hurt." Wind wasn't normally one to complain, but he was unused to walking everywhere. He was also uncomfortable around horses whenever the opportunity had arisen to ride one.

"Sorry sailor, but this Hyrule seems to be the biggest one we've been to." Warriors spoke, almost gentle for the normally sarcastic man.

"The biggest." Sky agreed, slightly out of breath.

Hyrule however was more interested in the sight of the cooking pot ahead of him, and the almost large group that surrounded it and whoever was cooking.

That was when the smell of stewed meat wafted through the air and into their direction.

Twilight could have frozen.

He knew that smell, it was a favourite of Link's to make whenever it had been a long ride or walk anywhere.

Somehow he knew that Link knew he was back.

A wild grin stretched across his face and if only Four was privy to it, he didn't say anything about it.

Link had made it to the stable in record time. Although, using the shrine travel points could be considered cheating to some, if he wanted to catch up to the group his wolf was travelling with he needed to be faster than them.

"Thank you for cooking for us again Link, we really do appreciate it."

Rensa's moustache was as wide as his smile, "There's a bed for you if you would like tonight, save you travelling late."

Link smiled at him, "I may take you up on that."

Rensa tilted his head curiously; he'd offered a bed to the tired Hylian many times after the young man had cooked for them time and time again, but very rarely had he actually accepted the offer.

Link knew this and let out a raspy chuckle, "I heard that a friend of mine was headed this way and wanted to greet them."

Rensa nodded, that made far more sense to him, even if he had never seen Link in the presence of another apart from the Princess.

(The Princess who pretended not to be the fabled Princess Zelda the last time the pair came through. Those amongst the horse stables and their network weren't ones to ask questions, and certainly didn't like to spread gossip. But for the Princess and her Champion, those whom stopped the Calamity, they'd garnered both rumour and free beds whenever they went to a stable. And a piece of coveted anonymity.)

"Can I have some? Can I have a bowl?"

Rensa sighed as Link hid another laugh behind his hand, "Not yet Shibo, you'll have to wait until Link has finished."

"But daaaa!"

Rensa shooed his son off, before sighing again and walking off to set up the bedding inside the stable for the night ahead.

As dusk settled, a large group of stable patrons had gathered around the cooking pot with their bowls, ready for that nights stew. (Link had somehow become famous throughout Hyrule, not just because of his fighting exploits or the fact that he was the Champion, but because of his stews and deserts whenever he stepped foot inside a stable or town.)

"Now can I have a bowl?"

Shibo, who had sulkily watched the pot as the meat and vegetables stew, asked with a small pout on his face.

Link nodded, ladling a heaping into the boys bowl. A line began to form behind him, as Link systematically filled each bowl with an eagerness that was infectious.

Everyone loved his cooking, and he was happy to share it whenever he was able to.

A comfortable silence overtook the encampment, everyone taking the time to enjoy the food prepared.

The only thing that broke the silence was the group of strangers, all dressed ready for battle, crossing the Big Twin Bridge.

The group was largely unfamiliar, although one did have markings on his face that looked similar to a mask that Link had stored in his home in Hateno (one that Zelda had probably taken for research purposes). One had a scarf in a shade that, if he had been wearing his tunic, would have matched it exactly. Another wearing a hood, whose tunic was multicoloured and another whose blond hair seemed to have been dipped into Sayge's dye baths. The youngest was wearing a familiar blue tunic, one that Link knew from experience smelled of the ocean and another whose sword was achingly familiar. He had held that sword before returning her to her slumber in the Lost Woods, with the one standing beside him having a darker shade of blond hair, almost brown and the simplest weaponry he had seen amongst the group.

And the last, whose pelt was heartbreakingly familiar to Link, whose tattoos matched the markings on his fur.

When they reached the stable, he was glad that he had put his hood up so that strangers wouldn't recognise him, even if the thought of Twilight not recognising him hurt like his half remembered past.

"Hello, my friends and I were wondering if you had any beds available for the night?"

The one with the mask markings seemed to be the leader amongst the group.

"Time! Ask them if they know a Link!"

"Shh! Wind!"

Even from where he was sitting, he could see Tasseren frown.

"What do you think about bananas?"

Link could have cackled. It was such a ridiculous question, yet a standard one to see if one was a Yiga member or not.

"I don't find them particularly nice, why?"

Suspicion left Tasseren as he replied to the leaders confused answer, "No real reason, and yes we do home some beds available. Though, you may need to share."

Link figured now was as good a time as any to speak up, even as unused as his voice was.

"Tasseren, the one with the pelt can share with me!"

The group as one turned to the sound of his voice, wariness clear on their faces.

In all faces, but one.

"Cub!"

Twilight's voice was more cracked up than what Link would have ever expected, emotion overcoming his mentor that he hadn't realised Twilight was holding back.

"Hello again Twilight."

The two stared at each other, before colliding in a hug that left the two men a heap on the floor, latched onto the other like dye on clothing.

They hugged each other for what felt like an eternity, before a throat clearing made the two break apart.

"Twilight, who is this?"

The leaders tone of voice was calm, but left little room for anything other than a proper explanation.

"Everyone, this here is Link."

An almost shocked silence filled the air, before he broke it.

"Hello, anyone want some stew?"
