Hello and welcome to this fanfic!
This is my first one, and it was inspired by the users Pantalion and AndTails, their fanfics are amazing you should read them
Okay I'll stop writing now enjoy

As per usual, the blue hedgehog and the two-tailed fox managed to erupt the evil scientist's brand-new mecha into flames. But every time he hauls his fat bottom out of there just in time to make a narrow escape, so that he could ambush the two friends again another day.
But today was different.
"Yes!" Tails exclaimed as the small device he threw attached itself onto the doctor's ankle. It immediately shifted from a tiny silver hemisphere with a blinking red light in the center to shiny black, nearly undetectable on the doctor's boot.
Sonic placed his gloved hand over his brow as he watched Dr. Robotnik flee into the dark hallways of his newly constructed base. The outline of his rotund figure was solely illuminated by sparsely placed alert lights, signaling the two friends presence by blinking red."You got him, buddy?"
Tails composed himself, and tried not to jump for joy. He had to stay nonchalant, just like Sonic. "Heh, yeah, 'course I did." He leaned back against the metal wall, crossing his arms. "This time I implemented my new camouflage software, so the chance that Eggface is gonna notice it is slim. Combined with a homing mechanism that tracks the targeted entity's heat emission, our tracking device's accuracy would be increased by at least 40%."
Sonic raised an eyebrow. "Uh, whatever you say. Why don't we blow this joint and get outta here, so you can see where he ran off to on your computer at home?"
Tails smiled to himself. Sometimes it was fun to mess around with him using fancy words. It makes him seem more useful, anyway.
"Hold on a sec," Tails pulled out his Miles Electric. "Let me just send a command to my PC so it can start syncing up..."
"Ugh, you're always so picky about the little things." Sonic whined. "Let's just race home NOW instead of getting all slowed down by your science stuff, yaknow?"
Well, sending the command and letting the computer start the process while they were running home it would actually be faster. Whatever.
"Ohhh, so you need a head start? I bet I could beat you anyway." Tails began typing out the command anyway, knowing exactly what Sonic would say.
"Wha- hey! Hmm... you could be right. Maybe you need a challenge to get you to go faster... I think we're onto something! Let's do it! Threetwoonego!"
Sonic promptly wagged a finger at him and took off, leaving a blue streak in his wake. Tails rolled his eyes with a smirk. Cocky as always. Well, now that he'd gotten rid of Sonic, he could at least finish up the last few lines of code in peace and quiet. When he finished, Tails put his handheld away and revved up his two tails. He let them spin for juuust long enough to build up enough momentum to overtake his terminal velocity, and then released his red and white sneakers from the ground.
"Looks like you won again, Sonic." Tails rubbed the fur on the back of his head with a grin as he stepped onto the green grass of their base.
"Heh, you almost got me this time buddy!" Sonic winked at Tails.
Like every race, Tails purposely makes it back to the base one or two seconds behind Sonic. Even with the handicap this time. To compensate, Tails decided to take a shortcut through a lower level, full of badniks, so he could get to the base just after sonic did. He accidentally let his guard down for a moment too long as he was running, and let a buzz bomber hit him. He'd been carrying a couple rings, luckily, so his burnt flesh healed itself within seconds. A small price to pay for near victory. Sonic usually took the more clear routes, so that he could run more freely without having to carefully parkour across moving platforms. Which, of course he could still do just fine...
"Helloooo? Earth to Tails." Sonic waved a hand in front of Tails' face, snapping him back to reality.
"Ah! Sorry, Sonic," Tails shook his head. "What were you saying?"
"You missed my victory speech! I guess I'll start over," he cleared his throat. "Thank you all for coming to support me and my— hey, buddy, what's that on your arm?" Sonic snapped out of his victorious stance to get a better look at his friend's arm.
Tails internally smacked his forehead. He forgot that rings didn't grow back fur, leaving a visible bald spot below his shoulder.
"It's nothing!" Tails pushed Sonic's reaching hand away. "I'm fine, I just... had a run-in with a gohla and it caught my fur a little while I broke it?"
He hoped Sonic would buy his lame excuse. Gohla fireballs always catch your fur on fire a little when you break it because of how hot they are. He'd rather sonic think that he destroyed a gohla instead of let himself get hit by a buzz bomber (those things really sting). Sonic didn't need to worry about his injuries anyway.
"A gohla?" Sonic rubbed his chin. "In green hill? I've only seen those in hill top."
"Uh..." Tails avoided Sonic's suspicious gaze, thinking quickly. "Maybe it was migrating for the summer?"
"Sure, let's go with that. I'm sure you taught that gohla a thing or two!"
Tails exhaled a sigh of relief as he rubbed the back of his head again. "Haha, I sure did... let's go check out the new data from the tracking device on my PC," Tails said before Sonic could think about the fact that even if gohlas did migrate, then they would much rather stay up in hill top during the summer. They would be less likely to overheat because it's cooler up there. But Eggman doesn't care enough about his mass-produced robots to add that into the programming.
Sonic complied, like Tails knew he would, and they both made their way into the safety of their home base.
