In the depths of Tartarus,
A lone man walked across the plains of the prison for monsters. He was skinny, with a low stature. He was tall, but malnourishment had caused him to be slightly hunched. His cheeks were gaunt and his clothes were ragged.
His eyes, though, were the worst part. They were poisonous green, with a mad glint in them. Any creature, god, mortal, monster, and anything in between would shudder in fear if they looked directly into them.
It was notable that wherever this man, or whatever he was now, walked, there were no monsters. Nothing attacked him. He looked completely at ease.
Actually, he seemed disappointed that there were no monsters. It was as if he wanted to fight.
This man is known as many things. For over 250 years he has been down here, and in that time, he gained a reputation for being quick and ruthless. If he was feeling merciful that is.
If he was not, then he would be anything but merciful. Any monster that made it out of Tartarus would go to incredible lengths to stay out, because going back meant dealing with him.
Among the names he goes by, the most common ones are 'The Destroyer', 'The Bane of Monsters', and 'Perdetrix'.
However, there is one more that is the one he, supposedly, prefers: 'daĆmonas'. 'Demon'.
Mount Olympus, Empire State Building 600th floor,
"So it is confirmed. Something is rising. Something that will try to destroy Olympus and everything it stands for. Do we know what?" the king of the gods asked the gathered council, his voice rumbling like a storm.
"Yes, father," Athena said. "It appears to be a primordial, but we do not know which one, or how they plan to do it."
Zeus considered that. "Gaea is still scattered, yes?"
It was Poseidon who answered this time. "Yes. As far as I can tell, she is still too scattered to form consciousness."
"Good." He paused. "Any other information?" when no one came forward, he frowned. "Very well. If you find anything else out, call a meeting immediately."
The council of 14 nodded and flashed out one by one. Soon it was just Zeus and Athena.
"Father, I have a theory on who is rising." She said after a moment.
He glared at her. "Why did you not share this earlier?"
"I did not think it would be wise. This is only a theory, with little evidence." she took a deep breath. "I think it may be Tartarus."
He was silent for a moment before asking, "Tell me why you think this is so."
"Well, monsters have been appearing more and more for the past 200 years. The hunters and campers can hardly keep up. They also go to incredible lengths to stay alive and out of Tartarus, almost as if they're afraid to go back.
Furthermore, monster attacks seem to have increased as well. They are trying to limit our numbers and supplies. They are working towards something. Something big."
Zeus contemplated this. "I want you to look into this. Ask some of your children to help if you need to. Find out if there is credence to this theory. I hope you are wrong, but make sure."
"Yes, father." And with that, she flashed out.
"Please, Chaos, let this theory be false." And then he, too, flashed out.
this is NOT replacing Children of the Jacksons. this is just a story I will do on the side.
