Tonks and Serena start to walk to lunch. Tonks looked at her hands nervously and started to walk to the Gryffindor table when Serena called out,
"Nym? Where are you going? I thought you were going to sit by me?" Tonks let out a sigh of relief, she would get to sit with Serenity. She started to walk over to the Ravenclaw table when she paused and looked back. She wanted to invite Jennifer, but she didn't want to make a fool of herself. She sighed and started back, she was going to invite Jen, she wasn't a coward. She walked over and said,
"Jen" She started quietly. "Would you join me at the Ravenclaw table?" Tonks watched in wonder as Jen's face brightened up in a smile and she replied,
"Of course I would Tonks!" Tonks looked at her, shocked. The Hufflepuff had never seen Jen this happy. She nodded swiftly and motioned her over to the Ravenclaw table where they sat and started on their lunch. Tonks smiled and started eating her Chicken Wings. She grinned and started eating more of it, excellent nosh in her opinion.
Nymphadora then introduced Jen to Serena. She started awkwardly,
"Jen, this is Serenity Clearwater. Serena, this is Jennifer Wood" She sat back and watched her friend's facial expressions. Finally, Serena started talking.
"Hello, Jennifer!" She said excitedly. Tonks was chuffed, they had hit it off! She continued to eat her meal until something distracted her. Alya Anders was walking towards her. She didn't know Alya very well, she only knew her because she had babysat her nephew, Johnathan Anders. John was 8 years old and really liked to Read, so Tonks had spoiled him rotten by buying him new books and reading material. She made some space as Alya sat down next to her and she asked,
"What's the Problem Alya?" Tonks questioned.
Alya Anders put her head in her hands and looked at Tonks,
"Tonks, my Nephew's Birthday is tomorrow and I don't know what to get him!" She cried. Tonks looked at her, confused, what nephew did Alya have? She didn't have on-. Oh, Johnathan. Tonks cursed, how could she forget it was John's Birthday? She babysat John so many times! Tonks thought quickly and told Alya what she thought.
"Alya, John likes Books, I think you should get him a potions book," Tonks said thoughtfully, biting her lip. Now, what would she get John? Ugh, why was life so hard?
Tonks shook her head, she would need to think about that later, right now, she needed to get to the next class. Tonks banged her head against the table, of course, she would have History of Magic next. Binns was such a bore, and she wouldn't be able to concentrate with all the Slytherins mocking her. Though she did have some sense of protection, She was half-Black, even if her mum had married a Hufflepuff Muggleborn.
Tonks got up, quickly said goodbye to Jen and Serenity and she walked briskly to History.
When Nymphadora got to the classroom, she sighed and leaned against the wall, waiting for the rest of the students to get there. She was the first on there, so she got the first choice of a spot. Anna always sat near the middle, so Tonks would have to sit at the front or the back. Neither of those options sounded appealing to her.
As Tonks thought, Professor Binns came in and went right through her. Tonks shivered and her eyes flashed with annoyance. Typical Binns. She walked over to a seat in the back and as the Hufflepuff went to sit down, Binns snapped,
"Lupin! I Shall pick seats for you, no need to trouble yourself." Tonks started and stood up carefully. Lupin? Since when? She sighed and carefully picked her words.
"Sir, Last time I checked, my surname was Tonks, not Lupin." Binns rolled his transparent eyes and said with a tone of arrogance,
"Lyall Lupin! It is not like you to play games in my class!" Tonks recoiled and looked at Binns in shock, not only did Binns think her name was Lyall, but he also thought she was male. Tonks shook her head and looked at Binns, waiting for him to tell her to sit down. His finger was pointed to the desk right beside her. She rolled her eyes and sat down, was it really much of a difference if she sat down right next to the seat she was supposed to be in?
Right at that moment, bunches of Slytherins came through the door, along with Anna. Tonks caught Annabelle's eye and hold her gaze. After a few minutes, Anna broke away and Tonks smiled victoriously. Binns told Anna to sit next to her and Tonks stopped smirking. She huffed and removed her bag from the walkway because as much as she hated Anna at the moment she didn't want to be the one to send her to Infirmary on the first day back. Anna sat next to her and Binns started class.
As Binns droned on about Giant Wars, Tonks yawned and tried to catch up on some much-needed rest. It was near impossible though, as Binns had installed some type of silent alarm that kept the students awake. Bloody Binns. Just as Tonks was finally closing her eyes and getting more rest, Anna whispered to her.
"I'm really sorry Tonks" Tonks winced, it sounded like Anna was about to cry. Honestly, she should be the one crying right now, it was Anna who decided not to tell Tonks anything, so why did Tonks feel so guilty? Tonks looked at her and said indifferently,
"Only my friends call me Tonks Vance" Tonks looked away as a fat tear slid down Anna's cheek. Then, Suddenly, Anna burst out,
"What do you want me to call you then? Nymphadora?" Tonks turned just in time for Anna to get up and storm out of the classroom. Binns called out,
"10 points from Hufflepuff Miss Vance!" And he went back to teaching. Tonks up her head in her hands.
Oh great.
