AUTHOR'S NOTE:

So I recently took it upon myself to re-read twilight. I just bought my copy of Midnight Sun and wanted to compare both Edward and Bella's points of views. What brought this on was a fanfiction—Bell—that I recently read. It followed the events of Twilight, but with a few key differences. Those differences actually made the novel look like a romance novel rather than a horror/thriller; especially after reading Edward's pov in Midnight Sun!

After comparing both first chapters, I am left with one profound question: HOW THE FUCK DID THESE TWO FALL IN LOVE?

Bella's first impression of Edward besides noticing his inhuman beauty, was his expression of hostile rage! He leant away from her like she smelled like dog shit. He sat so still and tense like he wasn't breathing—if he did, he'd kill her and everyone in that classroom! He glared at her with pure revulsion and hatred and ran away from her the second he could. He made her feel angry and humiliated, which probably also contributed to her insecurity and inadequacy through their entire relationship. Why did she fall in love with him? If I were in her place, I would've asked to switch seats maybe even classes! And later in the office she felt "genuine fear" around him. That was not a meet cute. That was when you encounter a serial killer. You have to get away!

Edward's pov was much more violent. I don't know if I'm secretly a sadist or what but all throughout Edward's spiel about killing Bella and all of her classmates I was oddly amused. But after reading a few fanfics where readers were put in Bella's place, I wondered what I what do in that situation especially after I read Midnight Sun. I would've been sick. Physically so.

Edward's first impression of Bella was through the mind of others. He saw her as a plain, average girl and then left it at that. His second impression of her was frustration as he couldn't read her mind. There was, however, maybe a vague indication that he might have felt care for her. He felt protective over her, for one second. Of course it was before he got a whiff of her.

I will never understand why Stephanie Meyer did that. To add more angst into the story maybe? I've read one of her other works, The Host. And the main love interests, Ian and Wanda, meet when Ian wraps his hands around her neck, strangling the life out of her. And we thought Edward and Bella's meet cute sucked.

Anyway, after Edward smelled Bella he, in his own words, turned into an animal that only existed to kill her. He distinctly imagined killing everyone in that room and noted that he could snap five necks per second. Ha! He hated her. He said that he hated her. How the fuck did he fall in love with her? It was when he had a moment of clarity did I realize why he hated her so much. She reminded him of everything that he hated about himself. He saw himself as a monster in the reflection of her eyes and he loathed himself for it. Question to all those out there: could you ever love someone who reminded you of all the things you hate about yourself. The thing that I liked about Edward was that he was painfully self-aware. He knew his hate was irrational. It was just easier to hate her. He should've left. He should've left and never returned. The Cullens could've; that's what they do in those situations. If I were him I would've; my pride be damned. I would not risk myself and my family by being near her.

Apart of me can get it. Their attraction towards each other. Take away the mate bond and what do we have? An insecure teenager that gets sudden attention from this otherworldly being with beauty that could rival gods. ( I bet if she read his mind that first chapter she would've moved back to Phoenix, beauty be damned!)

And Edward's hubris was his own pride. He wouldn't let a puny human girl break him. Bella was also an enigma for him. He couldn't hear her like he could the others. She was a silent solace, a challenge. Stephanie Meyer could've just left it at that, but no she wanted Edward to want to kill her and Bella to be painfully ignorant and stupid.

In conclusion, they really shouldn't have fallen in love. It was more like they became obsessed with each other.

And on that note, read at your own risk because I am just as sadistic, if no even more, than Stephanie Meyer herself.

Imagine a world where Bella wasn't just some ordinary human girl with mouth watering blood and a shield on her mind. What if she was different? What if she was just as much of a dangerous enigma as The Cullens? What if, instead of obsession, Edward and Bella found solace in one another? Two equally tortured souls finding comfort in one another.

Trigger Warning: There will be mentions of gore, violence, and attempts at suicide.

PREFACE:

Isabella Marie Swan was born September 13, 1987, in Forks Washington to a newly wed Charlie Swan and Rene Dwyer. She was a healthy of average of 5 pounds and 11 ounces with a height of 19 inches. That was, however, the only thing average about the newborn Isabella Swan.

She did not cry. She merely whimpered, as if to let the doctors know that she was there. That she was okay. She wasn't pink like most newborn children, no; Isabella was born a pure ivory white. Her skin was smooth, unblemished and it glowed with an almost ethereal light. In contrast, Isabella Swan's hair was a deep, rich raven that curled around her heart-shaped cherub head like a crown. Her lips were stained blood red and her cheeks held sometimes held a beautifully innocent flush. Whenever her mother regaled the tale of her birth, she would jovially recall how she'd thought she'd given birth to Snow White, fresh from the pages of the brothers' Grimm. However, the most startlingly otherworldly feature that Isabella Swan possessed would had to have been her large, enchanting lavender eyes. Eyes that would soon bring to her an eternal torment.
