Charlie eased Tonks slowly out of bed, her plaid socks hitting the floor. She winced as her bones crackled. She still felt pain in her leg, but after a week in the Hospital Wing, Tonks felt a lot better. Charlie and she started to walk, Charlie giving her worried looks as she did. She shrugged him off when he asked,
"Alright, Tonks?"
"I'm perfectly stable, thanks, Charles."
They continued to walk, but not entirely in silence. It had been awkward at first, talking about the bloody weather and who won the last Quidditch match, but soon everything started to work out. They discussed how the caretaker, Flich was a git and how his cat should be banned from Hogwarts. As they spoke, however, a cat walked in front of them, stopping at their heels. Tonks nervously grabbed onto Charlie's arm, flushing as she noticed. She retracted her arm and looked at the cat's yellow eyes. She looked down the dark empty corridor, shivering at the site. She then realised something.
Tonks looked at the cat in horror, her bright blue eyes meeting the equally bright ones of the cat. This wasn't any old cat. This was the caretaker's cat. She whipped around just in time Flich stare at her, meeting her gaze head-on. Flich had just caught them in an empty corridor. Two of the best pranksters in Hogwarts. Caught. Great.
"What are you doing here Weasley, Nymphadora?" Flich snarled, his lantern illuminating his face. Tonks pursed her lips, annoyed at the use of her first name. Charlie's eyes darted back and forth between Tonks and Flich, complementing what he could do. He finally took off his shoe and threw it at Flich, grabbed Tonks hand, and they ran, well, Charlie ran, out of the corridor.
But Flich had other plans. He grabbed Charlie and squeezed his arm, making bruises.
"Detention Weasley, with Professor Snape," said Flich, his sadistic grin making her sick to her stomach. She got out her dark red wand, as deep as blood, against Flich's neck.
She snarled, "Let. Him. Go." Flich immediately dropped Charlie, making him land on the floor.
Flich started to walk away, clever enough not to make a scene, "Detention, Weasley. My Office, Monday, seven PM." Charlie sighed and sagged against the wall. Tonks bit back her smile, the situation called no reason for it. She helped him up and she looked at the watch, sighing. It was already Lunch. She helped Charlie up and they started walking to Lunch. Tonks' stomach growled with hunger and she looked down. Oh, Merlin, she was hungry. They stopped in front large brass door, about to go and eat when somebody stopped them.
Tonks looked up and was surprised to see Willaim Weasley, otherwise known as Bill. His long hair was pulled back into a ponytail and his brown eyes were focused on her. She was supposed to be mad at Bill, but she couldn't find it in herself to actually be mad. She smiled, her eyes brightening up with confusion as Bill said,
"Can I borrow Tonks for a second Charlie?" Charlie looked at Tonks and nodded nervously.
"I'll be in our usual spot Tonks, see you?" Tonks nodded silently and followed Bill outside, ignoring her empty stomach. When they got outside, Tonks turned around and put her hips.
"What was so important that you needed to steal me from my lunch William?" Bill rubbed his neck and started to talk,
"Well, Tonks I just wanted to say-
-sorry?" Tonks guessed. "Well, save it, Bill, It doesn't matter anymore." Bill rolled his eyes, annoyed,
"Actually I wanted to say something Tonks." Bill composed himself. "Do you remember that day in the rain, before the firsties got sorted?"
Tonks nodded, how could she forget? That was how all the drama actually started, with Bill dropping the list.
Tonks' jaw flew open and she gaped and she looked at Bill, shocked.
Bill dropped the list. Bill dropped the list. William Weasley, who was one of the most organized people she had ever met. Bill Weasley had dropped a list that was given to him. Bill Weasley.
"Yo-you dropped the list." Tonks started, shakliy. Bill nodded, smiling slightly.
"I know you would have picked it up, Tonks. I didn't agree with your friends, so when they asked, I decided to help you." Tonks looked at the ground, her smile growing wide. She looked at Bill, his fang earring and his long hair in jagged cuts across his shoulders. Bill was taller than Charlie but had less shoulder and chest-length, so Charlie was bigger in size. Tonks hugged Bill, and surprisingly, Bill hugged her back.
"Wow, thanks, Bill. Really rebel of you. Do they know?" Tonks muttered, if her friends knew, then they would be VERY angry with Bill. Bill shook his head, suddenly becoming scared. Tonks smirked, some very bad things were going to happen to Bill if her friends found out.
Especially Charlie.
Tonks took a step back and looked at the watch on Bill's wrist. Lunch was already done, so that meant she had Double Potions with Snape.
"Sorry Bill, but I have to go, Potions with Snape." Bill nodded but suddenly grabbed her arm. She looked at Bill, confused.
"What's wrong William?" Bill smirked and said with glee.
"You owe me something, Tonks." Tonks furrowed her eyebrows,
"Since when do I owe you something, Weasley?" Bill answered in a calm matter,
"Since I gave you that list..."He trailed off as Tonks sighed.
"Fine, what do I owe you?" Bill grinned and leaned in, whispering in Tonks' ear. Tonks gasped as Bill told her. When he finished, she took a step back and said flatly,
"No"
Bill gave her a look and she sagged her shoulders, glaring at Bill.
"Fine" She then stalked away, annoyed and slightly amused at what she was about to do.
