First of all I just want to give A shoutout to GhostWind on discord for the idea. Spur of the moment thing but it works haha. This is in Mention to the Genshin leaks. I don't play Genshin however just a heads up before I get reviews asking me for in game names. ENJOY
Things were relatively normal from within the walls of Blake and Yang's small but comfortable condo.
Yang had just gotten back from a days work as a motorcycle mechanic at her own shop she ran out of the garage. Work had been slow for her since a major shop had opened up killing a lot of business for her.
That was however until about 2 weeks ago when many of that shops old customers came to her to see what had went wrong with their bikes. It turns out that the shop had fixed the original problem while purposely messing something up so that some months down the line they would come back when they needed it fixed. However that was not what happened and they went to Yang instead suspecting that the chain shop had done something.
She had stumbled through the front door to find her best friend and roommate Blake passed out on the couch with a beer and take out she ordered while playing some random fighting game she had no idea what it was called however. This had been a regular occurrence ever since she had been laid off from her job as a receptionist at a Psychiatrists office.
Yang had been really worried for her health after her last doctor visit. She had gained considerable weight and her blood pressure was at levels that were life threatening for a woman her age. She never knew what to say or how to get the conversation to stir towards it. it never left her mind with Yang now perched on one leg in the kitchen out of boredom and uncertainty of what she wanted to eat.
She decided to grab a beer from the fridge to drink away the problems of the day. Many dark thoughts rushed to her head about the complications Blake was going through and how she felt that work was slowly killing her from the inside. It was in that moment she found what she wanted to start the conversation with.
Recently a game they both played known as Atlas Breaker had a breach where phone numbers were posted on several parts of the site including a users profile. Blake had gotten a new phone the week prior that had been set on the counter. She knew this because the number posted on the profile she had in the game via the leak was a completely new number unlike the one she had for the past 7 years they lived together.
Her eyes shot open realizing the spark she had just ignited despite the state of utter disarray she was in from the day she had. She had to wonder though if this was normal for people to come up with ideas in such condition. Regardless she treaded over to the unconscious Faunus after throwing the empty can of what she called "cheap alcohol" in the nearest garbage bin to the living room which was connected to a part of the countertop that was seldom used but nice to have.
Staring down gracefully at the couch Yang tapped Blake's shoulder in the same manner she usually woke her from the deep euphoria of a peaceful slumber. Suddenly her eyes were glancing back at Yang with Blake staring deep into the orbs. She mouthed something Yang couldn't understand before sitting up on the other end of the couch covering her face with a spare hand in embarrassment.
Yang moved closer to her friend checking to make sure that she wasn't hungover from overloading on drinks. She looked in her direction before looking away quickly with her face turning a deep red. She had let this issue bother her to a degree that didn't need to be and was going to stop before she did any permanent damage.
"Hey, I just came in and saw you sleeping so I woke you." Yang informed her friend being partly truthful. She had been there for a few minutes prior to her waking Blake up but this didn't matter.
"Oh shit, I must have passed out playing something again." Blake said in clarity realizing what must have happened after it was said and done.
"It happens, However I do have a few things I wanted to talk about." Yang looked somberly at Blake knowing she was hiding a lot of what had been going on and that she most likely knew already.
"Sure, What's on your mind?" Blake asked her friend knowing either way it wouldn't end well so best get chewed out now than later.
Yang was trying to hold back laughing from what she was to ask Blake. It was so fucking stupid but at the same time it had to be said.
"You got a new phone right?"
Blake nodded wondering what this was about but intently observed Yang trying to find out more context.
"Well, I found your new number on your profile for Atlas Breaker." Yang choked up air as laughter expelled every breath she had for the next 30 seconds or so.
Blake cocked her head confused as to what was so funny to this situation.
"Hey Blake I got your number." Yang jokingly nudged her with Blake laughing right along with her at the stupidity of it all.
"Probably just Cinder Spying on us and leaking it as some revenge plan." Blake snickered this entire situation cheering her up from the worried mood she was in only moments prior.
"Well, The real reason I wanted to talk with you is because I've been noticing how you've been acting since you got laid off and well you need help girl before it gets worse." With those words leaving her mouth Yang had just confirmed Blake's worst fears. Had this been moments earlier it may not have ended as well but she took it in stride.
"Yea, Honestly though I needed that and I'll start getting back up on my feet so I don't rot here on this couch, Besides I am way more productive than that." Blake said with more pride than she had since she came home the day of her untimely layoff.
And that she did, In the 20 years after this she became a competitive powerlifter before she died in a car accident aged only 43.
But that day lived on in her mind and became a running joke between the two with "I got your number" being a frequent phrase between them in public even though many of the people around them didn't get it. But that didn't matter to them. What did was being there that day.
