Chapter 1 – Together Again

Hi guys ! I'm starting a new Fan fiction on Han and Leia, I'm super excited! I'm probably going to write a story about what happened before this one, that could explain things at the beginning.

BTW, I'm not a native english speaker so please be understanding :)

After a mission gone wrong, Han is in carbonite again, Chewbacca is with his family on Kashyyyk, Luke is gathering the remaing jedi stuff in the galaxy and Leia is gone

It's been two years and a half… well, two years and a half for her, since she is living on an island planet where days last twelve standard hours instead of twenty-four. She came here after everything that happened: the mission gone wrong, Han severely injured and put in carbonite to protect him, all of this because of her. This mission was her idea. She blamed herself for that.

After a big revelation about her past to the republic, Leia's career was compromised and she had to go away. She found an island planet, where she was living kinda like a hermit. It was like this place has called her. After all that happened, she sought for peace, calm and a bit of loneliness. She had to refocus on herself.

Leia first came across the galaxy to discover her past. She went to the castle of her mother on Naboo, she went to Tattooine, where her biological father and brother grew up, she was even invited at Chewie and Mala's on Kashyyyk.

She also had a jedi training. Luke taught her the force, the handling of a lightsaber and she eventually build her own. After that, she just needed a kyber cristal and it was while meditating that she found it. It called her on this Island planet. Turns out there was a force cave where the cristal was, and also a tiny jedi temple. Leia settled on this isle where she build herself a little house, out of wood and stones.

The isle was quite big but it didn't bothered her, in fact she liked it that way. There was a forest to the east, a broken bridge leading to an old village on the island next door to the north, there were also mountains and cliffs to the south-west, with the entrance to the cave, hid by a fall coming from the top of the mountain and all the way down to a lake in the meadow, right in the middle of the isle.

Her house was situated to the west, at the edge of the meadow and with a bit of cliffs as a backyard. On the side next to her house there was a rock where she liked to meditate because from there she could see sunsets. The downing sun was giving purple, pink, yellow and orange shades to the sea. It was beautiful, soothing, this was her favorite moment of the day.

At first she found it kind of sad, all she could think about was how she would never be able to watch this beautiful moment with him.

She wanted to be with him, the man she loved, together, and nothing would separate them. Unfortunately, they were already separated and for who knows how long. But she had moved on and now she simply enjoyed sunsets.

On a typical day, Leia would take water from the lake to her well, then she would harvest the food she was growing, then she would go to the forest, finding wood and have her daily little walk. After that, she would go back to the house, walking by the river; then prepare dinner after having cut the wood, and then meditate until the sunset while she would eat and look at the lovely shades of colors created on the horizon. After twilight, when the night is dark, she would eventually go to bed.

This particular night, Leia made this dream again. She had troubles to fall asleep, as often, and now she was having this recurrent dream or rather that nightmare.

Han. She saw him. She saw the mission all over again. They were talking about the remains of the empire. She had the idea that he, as a smuggler, could trade her to the bunch of remaining imperials. Of course he vehemently disagreed with that. With a lot of persuasion she changed his mind, or at least he agreed to trust her despite his really bad feeling about this thing.

So, they trade her to a bounty hunter. She just had to find the terminal in order to steal the localization data of the other imperial bases. Then the usual rescue team – Luke, Han and Chewie – would come set her free.

That was the plan. Of course, as it was all planed, it didn't work out the way they expected.

On the imperial ship, Han got captured and if she wanted them to let him go, she had to reveal to the Republic her origins. A spy of them discovered the nature of her bloodline, and the fact that she was the daughter of Darth Vader.

They settle a transmission with the Republic and she was forced to announce the big revelation.

An explosion cut the transmission and created a diversion in order to give the team enough time to escape. They did, but there were collateral damages.

Han has been tortured and Leia had to watch this, powerless, until she finally did what they wanted. She has been hurt herself too but she could handle that.

Everything that happened then flashed quickly before her eyes: they all went to Polis Massa, Han's vital prognosis was engaged and he stayed in the comma for weeks. Weeks during which Leia stayed besides him, talked to him, while his state was not getting any better, she barely ate, slept or went out. Chewie and Luke encouraged her to leave the room once in a while.

Several weeks later, the medics decided to froze Han in the carbonite given that his health state was getting worse. The medical process would let time and save energy so Han's body could recover better. There was also a chance the process would not work as planned, but given the – almost desperate – situation, anything could be tried to wake him up.

As always in the dream, Leia felt sadness, dismay and confusion, anger and she had this injustice feeling again. She didn't want to leave him, with the possibility that he will never ever wake up again.

She felt like something collapsed in her.

The memories of them into the Falcon, with Luke and Chewie sharing a meal together, memories of the time back to the rebellion, their fights, their whole relationship. The thought of never being with him again made her never want to wake up again either.

Late that night, after they put Han in the carbonite, she came back home alone, to the empty house filled with all his stuff, his whole live, she didn't sleep and cried all the tears of her body.

In her nightmare, she lived the mission, the hospitalization, the horrible first night without Han again, all the feelings – all the pain – came back, like the first time.

But this time, she felt a slightly different way than usually. This time, there was a moment of void, everything seemed empty inside and around her. Suddenly her lungs were filled with air, and a pair of hazel eyes opened.

She woke up with a start. This dream was much more confusing than every other. As she needed fresh air, she went out. The moons were lighting the land and gave sliver reflections to the sea. She sat on her meditation rock. She contemplated the quietness of the night. She came back after a while and she wasn't thinking about that weird dream anymore.

The next day, she carried this odd feeling all day long. She was not focusing on her tasks, her mind was drifting and was never really there – or anywhere in particular.

In the afternoon, she heard a ship reactor landing by the mountains. She thought about Luke. He was visiting her from time to time. She saw two silhouettes walking down to her place, maybe Chewie was coming saying hi too. She went inside to prepare some tea and then she went back outside to give everyone a seat.

When she turned around to welcome the crew, a shiver ran trough her as if she had just seen ghost. Those hazel eyes, the same as in her dream, where standing right in front of her.

She couldn't believe her eyes nor let any word get out of her mouth. He was there, right here. She looked at Luke, a few steps behind who greeted her by nodding his head also as an affirmation sign.

So it was true. He hadn't change at all. The same hairstyle, the same clothes, the same smirk, although his facial expressions seemed attenuated, he looked kinda lost, leaned on a crutch.

"Leia..'' he whispered

"Han" she said reaching out his hand but not finishing her gesture

He took her hand, looking deep in her eyes, whispering her name again.

Earlier when he woke up in the room with medics all around him, her name was the first and, in fact, the only thing he could say. There was also this blond guy dressed in black leather who knew him, although Han didn't remember meeting that kind of guy. He talk about names, places and events that he was supposed to know about but which didn't ring any bell to Han.

He could only picture this woman, dark brown braided hair, the softest smile he's ever seen, a round nose and the most beautiful brown eyes which he wanted to look deep into. Leia…

He didn't know who she was or what she had to do with him. He could only picture her undeniable beauty and her name.

When he pronounced her name, the blond guy asked if Han remembered her, which he did, so he thought that his guy might knew her too. When Han asked if he did, the guy answered positively and wanted to know if he had any memories of him too.

Seeing that Han didn't, he did not ask anything else, he just sat in the chair next to Han's bed. He wanted so badly to see Leia that the medics finally agreed to let him go out a couple of hours before coming back. And there they were, on this isle, standing in front of each other, just holding hands and looking deep into the other's eyes.

Leia wanted to jump in his arms, to kiss him, to tell him that she didn't forget him, to let him know that she still loved him wholeheartedly. But when looked in his eyes was confusion, he seemed lost and not understanding what was going on around here. Leia thought that this kind of love overflow might be too overwhelming for him and not be what he needed right now.

Luke stepped nearer to talk to his sister. There were a bunch of things she needed to know.

She served the tea and the two of them came inside. He told her everything, his unfrozing from the carbonite because his health signals were good, he told her how Han woke up saying her name, remembering nothing – or anyone – else than her.

It was already strange to be around him again, but it was stranger to be the only thing he could remember.

When she came back outside, Han and her talked a little bit awkwardly before going to the ships and taking off. They did the trip all the way back to Polis Massa quite silently.
