NOTES:
*Karaudo – cloud (if Google can be trusted)
*main character – Fujikoka Hikaru (last name, first name)
THANK YOU TO MY BETA - SIVA for helping me proof read to catch mistakes.
So I am looking to make this a Hound Dog x OC. The first chapter is in third person, I may put it in first depending on what y'all prefer. I can write it either way. I would love to hear your opinions or thoughts! Or if you want to see anything in particular.
I do have a general outline for the first part of the story already written out and I will try and crank out a few chapters this weekend!
*for the warnings! Nothing will be super explicate for the non-con elements. This is due to a domestic violence relationship she currently has. However, I will put warnings before anything so that y'all know before hand. Don't worry, Hound Dog and or Aizawa will help her!
Let me know what y'all think?
This is also cross posted over on AO3 under Bella_Donna_Poison.
"Student has displayed symptoms of Emotional Dissonance which occurs whenever expressed emotions are in conformity with organizational norms, but are clashing with true feelings. This typically occurs whenever you are required, whether by rules, roles or convention, to behave or respond in a specific manner that is conflicting with how you truly feel. Student might possibly be being bullied as they seem to be trying to hide their real feelings."
The pen scratching across the paper as the woman quickly wrote down her thoughts was the only noise in the room. The child she had been seeing for quirk counseling was showing more and more signs of cognitive distress. Whether due to being unsupported at home or bullying at school. With a frown Hikaru closed her manila folder and opened the filing cabinet. Filtering through the drawer she quickly found the student's section and put the counseling notes inside.
Shutting the door with a thump, the woman stood up and quickly stretched. It was seven o'clock at night, she realized.
"Jeez...I really need better time management." The words were muttered to no one in particular as the silver haired woman quickly stepped out of her office and closed the door. Locking it, she turned and ambled down the hall, feeling how gummy and dry her eyes were with how long she had sat in front of the lamp writing and finishing her reports.
Thankfully the train station wasn't far, she would be able to get home swiftly. The public school she worked at in Masutafu really wasn't that far from home. Sure Shizuoka Prefecture was large and there were a lot of kids, it could get really overwhelming, but Hikaru would never trade her job for anything. Or so she thought at least.
Jogging the three blocks to the train station, she quickly swiped her pass and boarded the train. An ache settled in her feet, high heels did not agree with her when the poor woman had to be up and about all day. Groaning quietly, she tipped her head back and held onto a rail above her head so that an elderly woman could have the seat. She would kill to be off her feet right now.
Hikaru swayed with the train, exhaustion pulling at her. Blue eyes blinked hard, struggling to stay open, shoulders slumping as if someone had put fifty pounds on her back. The rocking of the train really was not helping her situation, the movement soothing despite the ache in her feet and hunger making itself known.
Finally the train began to slow some twenty minutes later as it reached her stop. Letting go of the rail, the woman exited the train and walked the last two blocks home. Her eyes wateredas Hikaru lifted a small hand to cover her mouth mid yawn. The apartment building finally in view, she picked up her pace and trudged up the stairwell to the second floor. Fumbling with her keys, she quickly entered the apartment and closed the door behind her. Making sure the bolt lock was clicked, she lifted a hand and felt along the wall for the light.
A soft chirp and bell echoed across the apartment. Followed by a thump as a fluffy cat came into the room, stretching out his hind legs mid stride. Hikaru smiled and leaned her left shoulder against the wall while pulling off her high heels. Balance was not her forte, it was a miracle the woman hadn't broken her neck sooner! After hanging up her keys and leaving the shoes by the door, she leaned down and picked up her gray cat. He was a stormy gray shade with long fur, a simple black collar with a pink bell around his neck. The fat cat was already purring as she lifted him up into her arms, choosing to ignore the fact he was already getting fur all over her black top.
Oh well, I can always wash it later. Although tomorrow is Friday thank fuck. Sitting down on her sofa, she set the cat on her lap, running slender fingers through his thick fur. Right next to her couch sat a small end table, her home phone blinking with a voicemail. Raising a silver-white eyebrow the woman reached over, much to her cat's annoyance, to press the play button.
"Sorry Karaudo, mommy didn't mean to be annoying." She kissed the top of his head, earning her a happy purr as he began to knead her stomach happily. Great...he is gonna slobber all over me. She thought with mild amusement. The machine beeped and began to play the message.
"Thursday four-sixteen pm, from XXX-XXX-XXX," BEEP, "Good afternoon Fujioka-san, my name is Nezu-"
Hikaru did NOT live under a rock, despite what her peers may think, she did keep up with society...sometimes. And Nezu...THE NEZU was calling her?! Focus you ass. Focus!
"-I am currently looking into adding onto my staff and was looking into people with suitable credentials. As the principle of UA I would like to extend an invitation for you to meet me for an interview for the possible position of guidance counselor to assist us. We are rather understaffed having only one at the moment. If you could be so kind as to return my call at XXX-XXX-XXX I would greatly appreciate it. Have a good evening Fujioka-san, I hope to hear from you soon." BEEP.
Hikaru's foster mother would have been absolutely ashamed at how her mouth had fallen open. She was sure she looked rather undignified. Hunger and sleep forgotten, she nearly upended Karaudo, who growled and moved to the other side of the couch grumpily, in her haste to snatch the phone. Punching in the number provided, Hikaru lightly bit down on her thumbnail. Heart jack rabbiting in her chest. After four rings the phone clicked and -
"Good evening, am I a mouse, a bear, or a dog? I'm the principal! How can I help you?" Hikaru struggled to contain herself, sure that she probably looked constipated as she tried to keep the noise of amusement and excitement from leaving.
"Hello?" The principal's voice sounded. Right...fan later...she had a prospective employer here.
"Ah...I apologize for calling so late. I just got in...this is Fujioka Hikaru?" It came out as a question, yet the delighted noise the principal made relaxed the knot in her chest.
"Not a worry! I apologize for reaching out so suddenly, I have been looking for potentials and found your profile through the school board. If I maybe so frank, how do you like your current job?" This time Hikaru did laugh, THE principle Nezu... was wondering how she liked her current job?
"It's well enough I suppose. I hear you're looking for a...counselor did you say?"
"Yes yes. With the unfortunate incident of the USJ and now the training camp...well I am afraid the students of class 1-A and 1-B may need a helping hand with sorting through everything." Hikaru hummed thoughtfully, a concerned bubble of energy taking over her chest.
"I totalally understand though. However, I'm just a counselor I don't think I'm qualified for-"
"Nonsense! I did pull up your records, you have a masters in psychology and even have a part time job as a therapist correct?" Again, her lips fell open. A choked noise escaping her.
"Isn't...isn't that illegal?" Hikaru breathed out with wide blue eyes. Panicked at the idea he would see everything. She didn't have any criminal record mind you, but...she had private things.
"Perhaps, perhaps not. However, I have to vet every candidate to verify them before an interview and employment. I'm sure you understand as we are a hero school, Fujioka-san?" A soft sigh escaped her as Hikaru pushed her bangs back, a smile tugging at her lips.
"Indeed you do. So, when do you want me to come in for an interview?" Another delighted laugh, rather creepily maniacal if Hikaru did say so herself.
"How about tomorrow morning, nine am?" Hikaru bit down on her bottom lip. She technically had work. However, she was sure her boss wouldn't mind. After all, she was there until seven pm.
"I can make that work." The words were murmured as she thought it over carefully. She was sure her boyfriend wouldn't be happy. However, it wasn't his career now was it?
"Perfect. I trust you do not need directions?" She hummed a confirmation, "Call when you arrive and I will have someone come get you. I look forward to officially meeting you. Have a wonderful evening Fujioka-san."
With that the line disconnected and she was left staring at the phone. Suddenly she fell back against the cushions arms coming up and feet waving as she squealed loudly. Karaudo jumping down from the sofa with a miffed grumble. She had an interview. An interview at the UA!
The blare of a familiar ringtone was what awoke her. Groaning, Hikaru rolled over and slid the bar on her screen to silence it. Rolling onto her stomach and pushing her face into the pillow, Karaudo jumped up on her back and settled comfortably in the middle of it. The rumble of his purr soothing her into a daze. Finally after five minutes the alarm went off again. Sitting up, she turned off the alarm for real this time, Karaudo curling up against her. Gazing down at his yellow eyes she smiled and yawned.
"Hungry fluffy butt?" He mewled and jumped off the bed. Hurrying to the door he looked back at her and gave an impatient chirp.
"Alright alright I'm up." Hikaru grumbled, stumbling out of the room and filling up his food bowl. Quickly dumping the old coffee out, she filled the glass and poured it in the back. Putting in a fresh filter and coffee. While that kicked on she went back to her room and scrounged up a pretty pastel top and some black slacks. A shower sounded heavenly.
Hikaru had never showered so fast, typically she took longer to let the hot water soothe her bruises and tense muscles. Brushing her teeth and blow drying her silver hair, Hikaru swiftly pulled it up into a ponytail and slipped into some cream colored flats. Kissing her cat on the head, Hikaru tried to ignore the fact that her boyfriend Kyo had not come home last night. He might have just had a double shift after all. Surely he...he wouldn't cheat on her again. Shaking off the thought, the woman practically ran to the train station.
Taking the train west she played on her phone in one hand while holding onto a hand bar in the other. Glancing up, blue eyes widened as the school came into view. It was in the distance sure, but it was massive from what she could see! And now that she looked, Hikaru could see students in UA uniform speckled throughout the train car. Swallowing back her excitement she tamped down on the mess of emotions cycling in her chest. A dull throb began to form in her temple. Wincing, she pushed the phone into her pocket and exited the train with the crowd.
Walking swiftly to the gates, she paused and pulled out her phone. Looking through her recent call log to contact the principal when she heard a throat clear. A prickle of...frustration wriggled in her chest. As well as an all consuming sense of exhaustion. Swallowing, she slowly raised her blue eyes up...to dark eyes. Long black hair. A scarf. This must be Eraserhead. She only knew of him because her boyfriend was on the police force and frequently grouched about the man.
"Err...hello?" The man was slouching, yet still so much taller than her.
"Are you Fujioka Hikaru?" She blinked and quickly nodded when she saw the flash of annoyance.
"Y-yes. That is me." He grunted and made a motion for her to follow him, shoving his hand back in his pocket. Hikaru pocketed her phone and quickly followed him. The school was massive. She could already see multiple people, students and teachers alike, glancing in her direction curiously. A bubbling knot of emotions pushed in from all sides. It was suffocating.
If Eraserhead noticed the tiny frustrated noise or the fact she tried to rub her temples inconspicuously, he did not acknowledge it. Finally they arrived at a door. Eraserhead knocked once and opened it, motioning for her to enter. Swallowing, she stepped in and saw principle Nezu sitting at his desk. Someone else was sitting next to him, some sort of dog mutant?
Quickly remembering her manners she quickly bowed low and straightened, silver hair sliding to cover her right shoulder.
"Thank you for seeing me, Principal Nezu." He smiled brightly and motioned for her to take a seat.
"The pleasure is all mine! Tea Fujioka-san?" Her lips quirked up in a small smile and she accepted the green tea gratefully. She sipped on the hot tea, letting her barrier drop slightly. A muddled mix of energy wafted through the room, picking through it carefully she could feel interest, excitement and...caution? She paused, noticing the calculating look that Nezu had.
"I see you are already getting acquainted." Cheeks flooding with color, Hikaru lowered her eyes.
"I...I apologize. I meant no disrespect...I-"
"Oh! Oh no you misunderstand. I can appreciate an inquisitive and cautious mind. You are testing to see what we are feeling, yes? Looking for a threat?" She blinked in surprise and glanced at the two obvious pro-hero's to see the calm...and admittedly calculating looks they too had.
"Well..I...yes. It's a bit of a habit."
"Smart one to have." Eraserhead grunted, leaning against the wall. His expression was so...cold. He looked so tired. Hikaru had to wonder how much the poor man was actually sleeping...
"So!" At the sudden happy voice, Hikaru jumped. A sheepish smile offered to them at the raised eyebrows. "I have already looked over your files and think you would be a perfect fit! However, I want to know what questions YOU have of me?"
What? This had to be the weirdest job interview. No questions? No..."why do you want this job"? Of course his quirk IS 'high spec'. So she supposed he had already seen everything he needed of her...
"Well, you mentioned over the phone you are looking for a counselor. However, based off of some of the things you mentioned, I take it you are also looking for someone that can act as a more in depth therapist to help with any trauma correct?" At the silence she found herself shrinking, the oppressive bubble pushing in on her again. What if I said something wrong? What if I offended? Or worse yet look stupid?! What if-
"I think you might soon become one of my favorite humans. You are perceptive. Yes I am looking mostly for someone that can assist Hound Dog with being a psychologist and therapist, as well as general student counseling which you already do at your current establishment." Her lips quirked up in a small smile, the painfully tight ball in her chest loosening so she could breathe again.
"Well then...I guess my only questions are when I can start and what's the pay." She joked. The principal's eyes practically gleamed.
What have I done?
