Can You Save Her? 4
Chapter 1 Swim
As the water closed over Tara's head, she felt despair and desperation. Here she was in Jax's new pool with two cinder blocks from Gemma and Clay's garage tied to her feet. And she was going to die here if she didn't do something.
It hadn't been that long ago when they had celebrated the completion of the pool with a big pool party and barbeque. She and Jax had been so happy then before they'd gotten ripped apart.
Untying the cinder blocks tied to her feet quickly proved impossible. The knots were too well tied. She tried to pull her feet free from the bindings. That was also impossible.
She'd never been good at holding her breath. She had maybe a minute to save her life. It seemed futile but she tried to swim. Of course, that didn't work. That had been the purpose of the blocks tied to her feet—to kill her by preventing her from swimming and escaping.
Was it possible to cry while underwater and drowning? She could feel the tears forming. She didn't want to die. She didn't want to die. She was afraid to die.
If only she could go back in time a couple of weeks and keep this whole nightmare from happening. That wasn't possible. She had to face it; she was going to die in the next minute or two.
Tara couldn't give up or she would die. That's when she remembered she had her small pocket knife in the pocket of her jeans. Jax had given her the knife. She usually just used the nail file blade of the knife. That's why it was in her pocket. She'd torn her nail.
She fumbled in her pocket for the knife and got it out and opened the blade. She would never be able to cut through the thick ropes with that tiny blade in the seconds she had remaining. It was the only hope she had though.
The blade was too small and dull. It slipped from her hands. It fell to the bottom of the pool just out of her reach. Now there was no hope, no way to cut the ropes that bound her feet.
Her lungs were burning. Her body was starving for oxygen. In seconds, she knew she would breathe in water that would fill her lungs with water. She would drown and there would be no more Tara.
She prayed that someone would find her in the next few seconds and rescue her from death because that was the only way she was getting out of the pool alive.
Someone please rescue me, Tara thought desperately, she wouldn't last much longer. Any second now, she would breathe in water, drown and die.
Please, please, someone find me soon, Tara thought, before everything turned to blackness and she was no more.
