The ZPD officers had arrested Shira Panthereyes who was guilty of trying to ruin the city of Zootopia.
"Oh, God! Come on, buddy, speak to me!" Finnick whimpered.
"Finnick, stay," Nick struggled.
"Daddy!" Ashley, who was 3 years old, cried and hugged her father.
Nick smiled weakly and returned the embrace to his daughter. Judy was by Nick's side as she held his head and smoothed his cheeks.
"Oh, Nick, my love!"
"Hang on, Wilde! The ambulance made it on time," Chief Bogo told Nick with passion, but with some bravery.
Gazelle sighed with concern and said,
"You'll be fine, officer Wilde."
In agreement, Clawhauser shuddered with concern, too.
"Nick, stay awake! You'll be okay," Judy whimpered with tears.
Ashley was sobbing as Finnick comforted her when he was trying to hold back tears. They were near Judy and Nick.
"C~ Carrots…" Nick winced with a weak smile,
"It's funny… I never thought a bunny like you… would ever love a fox… like me."
"No, Nick, don't say that! Please," Judy wept,
"Listen, is this the reason you had ME?! All I did is hurt you when we met at first sight!"
Nick winced as he placed a paw on Judy's cheek. Judy blushed, but hugged him hard with tearful passion. Nick did the same with a kiss on her forehead.
"Carrots, there is no time to talk now…" Nick wheezed once again,
"If I go, tell my mom and our daughter that I love them."
"Your… mom?" Judy asked with tears.
Nick nodded weakly and wheezed as he gave Judy his mother's phone number on a blank sheet of paper,
"You can tell your parents to call my mom with this. I know I would miss my job at the ZPD… But… above all that, remember… that I love you with all my heart, Carrots…"
"No, wait, Nick! I love you, too! I—"
All of a sudden, Nick dozed off already, which made Judy, Finnick, Ashley, Chief Bogo, Clawhauser, and even Gazelle feel sorrow with shock. Judy cried out once again,
"NICK!"
Later…
The ambulance drivers were scurrying Nick and taking him to the hospital despite him being in a critical site.
Judy had already sent a text to her parents of what happened. Her parents replied that they would also call Nick's mother, who wanted to see her son badly, but she noticed that her son and Judy have their daughter Ashley, which made Nick's mother and even Judy's parents feel excited for this moment and especially come to see what was going on.
Back in the hospital, Judy, Finnick, Ashley, Chief Bogo, Clawhauser and Gazelle were at the lobby, praying if Nick is gonna pull it through.
Some time later, the male doctor came and spoke for Judy in just a moment. He said while holding the clipboard with charts in his hand,
"Ma'am, your friend had a bullet on his chest. According to the charts during our work, it was close to giving broken lungs, but there was a lot of time for us to save him."
"What does that mean, doctor? Is Nick gonna be okay?" Judy asked.
Finnick while holding Ashley, Chief Bogo, Clawhauser and Gazelle stood up to hear the news. But when a door opened once again, the female nurse came with a sad look on her face. She faced Judy and shook her head sadly, as if the nurse gestured,
I'm so sorry, ma'am. Your friend's gone… he didn't make it.
Finnick held back a sob and comforted Ashley, who was crying quietly because her father didn't pull it through, and she now only had her mother. Gazelle teared up and covered her face, sobbing quietly. Clawhauser was on the verge of weeping.
Chief Bogo sniffled sadly, but puts a hand on Judy's shoulder with a heavy sigh and a feeling of compassion. He said quietly to her,
"I'm sorry, Hopps. There wasn't anything that could've been done; I know how much Wilde means to you."
Trying to hold back tears, Judy cried softly, saying to the nurse,
"Don't tell me Nick is dead!"
"What? What?! Judy, sweetie, is everything okay?" Bonnie, Judy's mother, asked as she came to check on her daughter.
"Jude?" Stu, Judy's father, asked with comfort as well.
"Oh, dear, what is it? Is it Ashley? What?" Nick's mother, Mrs. Wilde, asked.
She was feeling a little bit disbelief and faced Chief Bogo as Mrs. Wilde told him,
"Jus— Chief!"
Chief Bogo, who comforted Judy, sadly but surely pointed his hand to where Nick was. Mrs. Wilde, in shock, dropped her granddaughter's presents ever since the birth of Ashley and she walked into the room.
Hearing Mrs. Wilde open the door, Judy sobbed quietly as she even heard and saw Mrs. Wilde sobbing for her son, Nick, and crying out,
"No, no!"
Mrs. Wilde's wailing can also be heard, making the hearts of Judy, Finnick, Ashley, Chief Bogo, Clawhauser and especially Gazelle's, break into millions of pieces.
Some ZPD officers heard the news and they decided to put on a funeral for their only fox officer, realizing how their bunny officer felt about her friend.
Finnick was sobbing quietly because of what happened to his only pal, as he comforted Ashley, who cried in his arms for her father, and even near her mother, who was even more heartbroken. Clawhauser wiped his tears as Chief Bogo shook his head sadly.
On the other hand, Gazelle was near Nick's burial site, in her beautiful, sparkly black clothing. She was singing a heartwrenching song that would pay respects for Nick.
Once Judy walked up to the podium, she realized that she and Nick had a strong bond with each other. As a result, Judy wept and gave Nick's lifeless body a hug for one last time.
"Goodbye, Nick. My only best friend… I love you so much!" she choked in tears.
Judy kissed Nick for one last time, and eventually placed a rose on Nick's chest and wraps it with his arms, for Nick to hold. Once she paid respects for Nick, Judy gives a turn to her friends.
Finnick paid respects for Nick as well as he had Judy comfort her daughter Ashley, and he was on the verge of crying, too.
Chief Bogo motioned his officers to bury Nick, and they all agreed as the ZPD officers shut the lid of the coffin gently. Gazelle gave space for them to do so, and she wiped her tears away.
Once the ZPD officers buried Nick underground near the gravestone outside. People also built it, which read:
*~R.I.P~*
Nicholas P. Wilde
Fox, scam artist, officer of ZPD, and friend of the bunny officer Judy Hopps
"Never let 'em see that they get to you."
Nick and Judy's parents even showed up; Judy's parents were concerned about their daughter, while Nick's mother was heartbroken for her son.
Time passed since Judy at least had Ashley, and even Finnick, who was gonna room with them because of what happened last time.
"Hey, it's not your fault, Judy," Finnick said softly.
"I should've stopped Shira myself!" Judy wept.
"Oh, mommy!" Ashley whimpered with comfort as she hugged her mother,
"I miss daddy, too."
Finnick nodded as he saw Judy feeling Ashley's embrace. He said,
"Judy, there wasn't anything you could've done. Shira almost had you in a death grip."
"Face it. I failed Nick! Just like my job," Judy replied and hung her head low.
Finnick holds Judy's hand and said,
"I'm so sorry for your loss. He was my great friend."
"You have our condolences, mommy," Ashley agreed and hugged her mother.
"Thank you, guys!" Judy said with a tearful smile as she hugged Ashley, and even Finnick, who felt the same way.
Meanwhile in Bunnyburrow, Judy's parents, Bonnie and Stu, were concerned about their daughter, and they decided to let Mrs. Wilde stay with them, since her son was gone thanks to Shira, who was guilty and sentenced in jail for long time.
They all hugged each other with comfort, as if to know that he will be missed dearly, but remembered.
This indeed goes for the remaining of the future family: Judy, Ashley and Finnick, too.
