Notes: This takes place about six years after the defeat of BelialVamdemon. Nothing else applies. Ken and Daisuke are about seventeen; June would be about twenty-three.
Summary: Daisuke wants to tell Jun that he's dating Ken. Jun wants to have her snack.
"Are you sure about this?" Ken asked, fidgeting. He knew nothing would go wrong. He'd met Jun many times before and she'd eventually stopped squealing every time he walked in the door. She hadn't even asked for his autograph the last handful of times.
Daisuke patted him on the arm. "Sure. They need to know sooner or later." He didn't seem all that disturbed, but why would he be? This was his family. Ken managed a bit of a smile. This was also Daisuke. Daisuke didn't worry about anything. If he'd been hanging off of a cliff without their partners anywhere in sight, he would simply admire the view instead of trying to get himself to safety.
It was one of the reasons Ken loved him. Though Ken also suspected himself of being attracted to idiots. Or at least one idiot in particular.
Daisuke tugged at his sleeve. "Come on, we want to get there before she decides she has to go out."
Ken knew how to keep up with Daisuke's strides after all the years they'd been together. He tried not to lag behind, no matter how nervous he was about this conversation that was to be. He'd never talked to Jun as her brother's boyfriend, just as his friend. He knew Daisuke hadn't ever dated anyone else officially. What would she think about this?
He wouldn't know if they didn't get this over with. So he followed Daisuke up to the apartment, thinking over answers to as many questions as he could come up with. He wanted to at least sound as if he knew what he were talking about. Whether he did or not was beside the point.
"Hey, Jun!" Daisuke shouted as soon as they crossed in and took their shoes off. "Got a minute? We've got some news for you!"
Jun poked her head out of the kitchen. She didn't often turn up at the family apartment these days, spending most of her time at university, but Daisuke knew when to find her there. He waved as he strolled over, one warm hand around Ken's.
"This better be good, squirt," she said. "I'm trying to get something to eat."
"You can eat while we're talking," Daisuke said with a generous wave of one hand. Jun rolled her eyes, nodded politely at Ken, her gaze not even seeming to notice their conjoined hands. He nodded back, perfectly willing for Daisuke to do the actual honors here.
As for Daisuke, he leaned against the nearest wall, regarded Ken and his sister for a few seconds, then caught Ken by the back of the head, tugged him in closer, and proceeded to kiss him quite thoroughly and fully, with great attention to detail. Ken had enough time to squawk a little, before he sank into it, his mind cheerfully blanking out as he returned the kiss, arms sliding around Daisuke, groaning softly.
He more or less forgot what they were there to do as the kiss continued. Only when he couldn't breath anymore did he find it necessary to step backwards and try to get his lungs to work again. Daisuke grinned softly at him before he turned to where Jun - was still getting her snack together.
"Jun?" Daisuke spoke her name almost as if he didn't think she'd noticed. His sister glanced at them.
"What? Are you two done yet? Didn't you want to tell me something?"
Daisuke blinked a few times. Ken didn't often see Daisuke this taken aback. "I did. I kissed Ken. We're dating. We've been dating for four months."
Jun blinked in her own turn. "Did you expect me to be surprised?" She turned back to the refrigerator and started to rummage around. "Did you want a drink, Ken?"
He nodded slowly. He could usually use a good drink after one of Daisuke's searing-hot kisses. It helped get his brains together. Usually just long enough for Daisuke to get interested in kissing them away all over again.
"Are you telling me you already knew?" Daisuke managed to burst out. Jun straightened up, two sodas in hand, and glared at him.
"Everyone knows! You two don't exactly make a big secret out of it. All I'm surprised about is that you said you've been dating four months! I thought you were dating the first time you brought him over!"
Ken thanked all of his lucky stars that he hadn't actually been drinking when she said that. He suspected he would have started choking on it. As it was, he choked on air, staring in shock. "You thought what?"
"You mean you guys weren't?" Jun shrugged. "Looks like I owe Momoe dinner."
Daisuke rubbed the back of his head. "Are you trying to tell me that you guys bet on us?"
"Not exactly." Jun opened her drink and took a long swig. "I just told her I thought you were dating and she thought you weren't yet. So we decided if we ever got the answer, whoever lost would take the other one out to dinner." She picked up her snack and headed out of the kitchen. "Have fun! Don't be too noisy!"
As she vanished into her room, Ken hoped to have the chance to settle himself by taking a long drink of the soda. Daisuke crossed his arms over his chest. "Well, that wasn't what I was thinking," he muttered before turning to Ken. "Meh, better than nothing."
Ken wasn't going to argue. He'd rather have a nice peaceful "already knew" than some of the other options he could think of. He considered for a few moments. "Do you think your parents know too?"
"Let's find out," Daisuke suggested, tugging him over to the couch in the living room. "They're going to be home later." His eyes glinted in the light with a brightness that told Ken quite a bit. "Then we can try your parents."
Ken mentally swallowed at that. His parents had insisted they would love him no matter what, but he'd never indicated to them that he would never give them grandchildren, at least not the way they probably expected. Adoption might or might not be an option, either. He just didn't know.
But he wasn't going to give Daisuke up, no matter what. He couldn't imagine his life without Daisuke in it and he didn't want to. So he quite willing followed him to the couch and waited for the Motomiyas.
Daisuke, of course, found many ways to pass the time.
The End
