This is my first time ever publishing something I wrote in English and I'm more nervous than I would like to admit about it.
I want to apologize in advance for the grammar and spelling mistakes you may find throughout the chapter. English is not my mother tongue and I still struggle a bit with it, and I do not have a beta reader.
Also, the characters do not belong to me (and this may be a bit OOC).
Please, let me know if you like the story (or not) by dropping a review or sending me a message on my TBBT account on Instagram, @/hxartworm.

Sheldon Cooper did not do things out of the blue. Well, normally, at least — he once decided to travel the whole country by train not even leaving the station.
But that was a isolated event. Usually all of his decisions were thought through for an annoying amount of time. Until now, at least.
He was taking the bus, something he despised, on his way to Amy's apartment. To ask her to marry him. A chill went down his spine.
It was not like he had never thought about it before. Actually, the subject was on his mind for longer than he would admit and more often than he'd like. He was ready to "make her finger like Saturn and put a ring on it", as Stephen Hawking said when Sheldon brought up the topic — come on, he was a genius; if he said it was a bad idea Sheldon wouldn't insist so much on it.
The problem (why there always had to have a problem?) was that his significant other broke up with him before he could pop the question. He didn't understand how he could have misread her. Was she unhappy with him? If so, for how long? Why didn't she say something earlier? Is it possible that she did and he missed it?
Turns out, yes, it was possible. He realized how inconsiderate he was to her, the woman he loved. So much so he pushed her away from his life. Every time he thought about it a little piece of him died. He was so afraid she would not respect him and his boundaries that he didn't notice how patient she was to him. All of the things she wanted him to do were normal to a relationship and honestly he was willing to do them; he even wanted them. But he was scared — of what? Maybe of not enjoying it and disappointing her, maybe of enjoying too much but she disliking it. Something always could go wrong, and he knew that. He didn't imagine it could be like this, though.
The first day after their break up, Sheldon struggled with giving her time. He was afraid if she thought too much she'd see he was not the perfect man she feel in love with. Then, when Amy got mad at him for something stupid that came out of his mouth and officially ended their relationship, his world stopped doing its movement of rotation (metaphorically, of course).
He tried harder to keep his distance, and with time it was becoming a little less painful. He hoped once they both healed, they would resume the relationship. It'd be all right.
That is, until Kripke show an interest on his woman.
Of course he knew the men could chase after her. She was wonderful. A beautiful, intelligent and down to earth woman. Acknowledging it did not make it easier to him. Anyway, sooner than later, Kripke would be learn his lesson — he was just waiting the time of their duel.
The bus make it's last turn and, in not much time, Sheldon got out, heading to Amy's building. He checked the ring one last time, to make sure it was there.
He stopped second guessing his intentions to marry Amy sometime ago. This idea was in this mind since the prom do-over, when he told her he loved her. Since then, he prepared himself and waited to the right time — he needed to be the man she deserved. And if he didn't know how much he wanted her by his side before, when they were together, those months apart were more than enough to show him.
He was ready. To marry her, to be intimate, to make her feel special. He finally was ready.
He crossed the streets carefully, and soon was standing in front of her building, looking to the door as if he didn't know how to open it. Of course he knew — he was a genius, for the love of God — but he was paralyzed for a moment.
What if she said no? It was a possibility, a big one. She could think he would not be husband material, and give up on him. Or worse, she could have someone over, she could have found someone better than him.
Breathing deeply, trying to use Kolinar to suppress his worries. Fortunately, it worked just enough to encourage him to keep moving.
While going up the stairs (the elevator was too risky, mainly in a night like this), Sheldon thought about what brought him there tonight. Well, yes, Amy, but he was referring to the events that made him decide to ask her to marry him even though they were not boyfriend and girlfriend anymore.
His outburst in Leonard Nemoy's documentary was the icing on the cake, but when he was showing his belongings and found himself holding that engagement ring, he just thought how it was not supposed to be in that box, but in Amy's finger instead. It did not help the fact that now Leonard and Penny knew his intentions — knowing Penny as well as he did, he wouldn't be surprised if Amy was waiting for him at the door.
With that thought, he finally got to the third floor and headed to 314.
Taking the box out of his pocket, he knocked only once, despite the inching in his brain.
When Amy opened the door, she was in her sleeping gown with a robe over it. He could help but notice how beautiful she was, and how long it was since he saw her without her usual layers.
He missed her so much.
"Sheldon", Amy called, gaining his attention. "What are you doing here?"
Sheldon took a long, deep breath. That was it, he was going to do it. He would finally have the answer he wanted for so long.
He locked her gaze with his and it felt right, like it always did. Her green eyes full of emotion were the push he needed to do the thing he came for.
"Amy", he whispered her name, getting down to his knees. He cleared his throat and continued. "Will you marry me?"
