Chapter 1
Lord Elrond was miserable and dissatisfied with his own life for many years. His small family shattered cruelly after his beloved wife, Celebrian, death at the filthy hands of the minions of the dark lord. They attacked her and her guards while they were resting at the foot of the Misty mountain, they tortured her and her companions for their own fun then killed all of them without any mercy and left their bodies to rot beside the main road. Two days later, Elladan, Elrohir and a group of their friends of Mirkwood were returning from a long journey to Mirkwood and they were heading towards the hidden valley when they discovered the corpses of Celebrian and the elven guards. They were devastated but collected their wits enough to honor the dead and dug enough graves to bury the lady and her companions.
After this cruel accident, the life of the small family turned upside down. Elladan and Elrohir swore to avenge their mother by killing every single orc, warg or goblin they would meet in the most violent way possible. They said their farewells to their father a hundred of years ago and never returned home to this day. They joined a group of travelling fighters who devoted their lives to clean the whole Arda of the foul dark creatures and defend the powerless and weak. Sometimes, their news would reach his ears to reassure him of their survival but they refused to set foot inside their home until they see the end of their near- impossible suicidal mission.
Arwen was inconsolable, she tried to find peace on the Golden Woods with her grandparents Lord Celebron and Lady Galadrial but even the magical beauty and serenity of Lothlorien failed to give any comfort to the trouble heart and mind of the young elleth who lost her mother in a sudden cruel way so she decided to sail to Valinor seeking peace and healing to her all troubles.
Elrond was on the verge of breaking when his daughter set foot on the ship carrying her to the white shores, she was in a total dazed condition that she could not utter her farewell to her father and grandparents. Maybe if she turned her face for once and saw how her departure broke her father's heart and crushed the remains of hope inside him leaving him a void shell, she might have changed her mind and ran to his embrace to give and seek comfort from her only remaining parent. Unfortunately, she was drowning in her self-misery, closing her eyes to the pain inside the others. She left a broken hopeless father to meet the endless days of his life alone.
Glorfindel and Erestor, the only real friends of the half-elven lord, noticed how their friend withering slowly little by little everyday. They saw him forcing himself to eat, drink, sleep and work. It pained them badly that they had nothing to do to relieve their friend's agony. They accompanied him in some hunting journeys, they trained with him, they even held few festivals to draw a smile on his grim face but they failed miserably.
One day Elrond decided that he could not live this way, he would leave at least for a while the house that reminded him everyday of what he had heinously lost. He could not sleep on the bed he shared with his deceased wife, and could not bear any more to see the empty bedrooms of his three children, he could not fight longer the misery, pain and agony of loss and loneliness. He packed few necessities as spare clothes, food, skin of water, healing herbs, bandages, and his weapons. He searched for his two loyal friends and found them playing a round of chess, he cleared his throat to catch their attention when he was sure they were ready to listen, he said softly,
"I am really sorry my friends, I tried for so long to overcome my pain of losing my family but I failed badly. Everything in this house reminding me of what I had lost, I can't endure staying here any more or I am going to lose my mind. I have to leave, I am going to search for something deserves to life for it. It may take many years before we meet each other again. Please, forgive me and stay safe and healthy." he approached his stunned friends and hugged each one of them tightly and handed everyone of them something. He gave Erestor a parchment that he signed to announce him the temporary ruler of Imladris and gave him the validity to command and rule freely in his absence. Then he turned to his blond friend and gave him something so precious and asked him to protect it with his own life, he surrendered Vilya to his flabbergasted friend who tried strongly to refuse receiving the offered object but the half-elven lord insisted fiercely and he had no other option than to accept it and vowed to protect it until the day of his original master return.
After leaving all his duties to his faithful advisors, Elrond was free to roam the Middle Earth freely seeking something he did not even know exactly what it is but he has faith that when he finds that thing, he will find a meaning to his endless life. He put his packs on the saddle of his horse, and mounted gracefully the huge faithful beast then without taking another glance at the home he lived in for thousands of years, he left briskly eager to start new life.
