Chapter 1. Ruby

"Hey Sis, breakfast is ready!" was the first thing she heard this morning.

Nomaly Ruby Xaio Long was awake long before her sister Yang, but because of last night's party, her farewell party for college, she doesn't have the best hangover.

With narrowed eyes and a headache that can easily split her head, she climbs out of bed and heads down to the kitchen.

Waiting there was already her whole family, her sister Yang, her father Taiyang and her mother Raven Xaio Long which she all greeted with a low "Toooooo loud".

Snickers from Yang and her father,"Oh how comes Sis, too much strawberry vodka?"

'Too much vodka,yea sure. All i had was two strawberry vodka, one beer and fife pancakes… ohhhh and 3 packs of Rum balls' she looked sullen to her sister.

"It wasn't that much really, all i need is some bacon and scrambled eggs and I'm good to go." she declared with a rough voice.

"Besides, how are you so well? You drank a lot more than me."

The blond looked amused. " Well, I'm simply more experienced than you, but don´t worry with time comes endurance."

Ruby twitched under the joyful and loud voice from Yang. "No thanks, I had enough of this stuff for life."

"Glad to hear that, sweety" said her mother Raven from the side."The last time I was drunk like that, I dyed my hair blonde."

"You did a lot more than just that." said Tai with a smug smile.

"Oh shoosh." she countered with a smile back.

"Awww too much infos." the sisters complaints in unison.

Raven rolled her eyes playfully. "Anyway, Ruby, did you pack all what you need for college?"

"Nearly done, all I still need is my laptop and some snacks for the road. Thanks again Yang for bringing me."

"Ohh anfing for my little baby sister."

Ruby looks a bit irritated at that. "Please Yang, I'm already twenty."

"Sorry Ruby, but you are never too old to be my baby sister. Besides, of course I want to bring you to college, it's maybe the last sistertime i get until your winter break."

'Classic Yang' Ruby thought between two strips of bacon.

At that moment Taiyang stood up from his seat and rose his orange juice. " I can't believe my two little girls are all grown up and fighting for their places in the world." It seems that he tries to hold a single tear. "Girls, I'm proud of you two. Cheers!"

"Cheers!" yell all the others.

"But Dad, it's not like you will never see me again. And Yang works in your workshop." she smiled still crocky.

"Ruby, please just let us be proud." plead Raven with a melancholic smile.

"Ok"gulped she her last bit of eggs down the throat and nodded.

"I will go, finish packing. Man, I can't wait to finally meet Penny!" she rose from the table.

"Your online friend with whom you played all these PC-games and you geeked about Hightech Electronic?" recalled Tai.

"I still hope she isn't a fifty years old creep!"

That let Ruby smile again. "Don't worry Dad, she is a real girl… perhaps a robot, but I don't judge." And with that last try to calm her father, she rushed back to her room to pack her laptop and too much snacks for a two hour drive.

After the long drive full with her sister's puns, insiders and a lot of candy, they arrived on the campus of the University Beacon in Vale at 7:30 p.m.

"And here we are, do you really have everything?" said Yang as she came to a hold in a parking lot.

"Of course, I made like three checklists before we drove." tried Ruby to ease her sisters mind in the hope she really didn't forget anything.

"You sure you don't want to sleep in my dorm?"

"Na, you need to unpack and get settled. Besides, I have some work to do in the workshop and I don't want to ruin the union between you and your friend."she said playfull.

"Ugh come on, Penny is just a friend I never met in real life." She sounded a little irritated.

Glad that her sister fell in her trap, Yang smugly raised a brow. "Ohh, who said it was romantic?"

A little blush came to Ruby's face as she climbed out of Yang's 96 FORD F-150 Pick UP. "Nobody has, now come and help me with my stuff please."

"Ai ai Captain." Yang commented with a mocky salute.

And so the sisters follow their way to Ruby's new dormroom.
