"I-I just don't get it Tikki" Marinette paced across her room frustration etched all over her features. "Why can I use ladybug to get close to Adrien." They've been having this conversation for almost half an hour and quite frankly Tikki was tired of it.
"Marinette, like I said, give me one reason why you think it's a good idea and I'll consider it, and 'Look at his face' isn't a reason'." The deity sighed. She feels like she's been here all day. Getting nothing but silence as a reply she continued " Not only is it not safe for Adrien, think about your happiness, if this does happen to work and lets say you both begin dating." She flies over to the blunette " would you feel secure in that relationship or would you feel like a piece is always missing. "
"But I could fill that missing piece" she objects, "I could just reveal my iden-"
"Don't even finish that thought Marinette! What about Chat? He's been so patient with you, don't you think he'd feel betrayed when he finds out?" "What about Adrien? Think about all the potential attacks he could be susceptible to if anyone finds out - does it not matter to you?"
"Tikki I've been trying so hard!" Marinette semi-shouts still mindful of the other occupants of the house. "I've been grounded three times in the last two months, my grades are dropping to the point I'm stressed everyday that I won't be able to get into my dream school when the time comes. I haven't sewn anything in weeks, I barely design anything." Tears started to well in her eyes, "I've been making so much sacrifices, given so much up to be able to complete this job and I've gotten up to nothing in return. Don't you think I should be granted this one opportunity?!"
"YOU THINK YOUR THE ONLY ONE WHO'S BEEN MAKING SACRIFICES!? I'VE BEEN ALIVE FOR YEARS DOING THE SAME JOB, HOW MUCH SACRIFICES DO YOU THINK I'VE MADE. IF I'M NOT AWAKE RUNNING AROUND STOPPING EVIL PEOPLE OR ANOMALIES I'M LOCKED IN A BOX IN A STATE OF SEMI- CONSCIOUSNESS WITH NO IDEA WHAT'S GOING ON AROUND ME. I'M SO TIRED OF-"
Knock Knock* The tapping on her trap door interrupted her. "Marinette I know it's only around eight but could you keep it down with your phone call or movie or whatever it is your doing. Some of us has to get out of bed early in the morning."
"Yes Papa, I'm sorry, I'll be more considerate."
"I know you will. Goodnight we love you. Your mom would have come up to tell you herself but she's already asleep. We had a busy day today and will have an even busier one tomorrow. Goodnight now."
"Goodnight Papa." Marinette listened to the retreating footsteps. When positive he was out of ear shot she turned back to find Tikki floating in the center of the room a look of complete sadness on her face. "Tikki?" Marinette calls in a soft, concerning tone.
"I'm tired Marinette. I'm tired of meeting new people, growing to care for them only to have to say goodbye and never see them or day light again for years."
"Your right Tikki, I bet it sucks constantly having to start the same process over and over again."
"You know what hurts the most? Getting to always see him just to have to say goodbye after."
"Him?" Marinette perks up "You mean Plagg don't you?"
"Of course I mean plagg" she lightly giggles. "He's my other half. We're like the Ying and Yang. We complete each other." She looked up from the perch she set herself on midst of her mini tangent with a fond smile, "I miss him so much."
"Look Tikki, I'm sorry no one should have to keep giving up the one they love as much as you have."
"There's no need to apologize Marinette, Your only sixteen it's OK for you to feel that way. Plus me giving up Plagg- it's happen so much it's almost normal"
"That doesn't mean I don't feel awful ...I'm going to make it up to you."
"Marinette there's no need to make it up to me, I forgive you, honestly."
"Well," she amends "if you won't take it as an apology gift, take it as a gift for just being you who is completely amazing by the way."
Tikki giggles "Thanks Marinette. All this emotions has tired me out so I'm going to head to bed but you should stay up and finish up your homework before you get in trouble again." She floats over to Marinette kisses her on the forehead, bids her good night,then retires for the night.
The next night Marinette now donning her disguise as her alter ego, Ladybug, sits on the edge of the Eiffel Tower. Tikki outburst yesterday took her mind away from her own inner turmoil but now it all returned tenfold. Marinette admits her idea of Ladybug and Adrien dating to be absolute wishful thinking and honestly she just stood behind the idea yesterday just for arguments sake, but she did actually feel that way. Like she gives up so much and sure there are parades and ceremonies put together to celebrate them but never had she received a genuine, heartfelt 'Thank You.'
The sound of metal hitting metal followed by the sound of boots broke her out of her thoughts. A familiar voice called out "Good Evening Milady, enjoying the evening lights. Before her better judgements Ladybug scoffs. " Is that a no" he muses.
The Paris lights were beautiful sure, for the first few times you saw them. After watching them mostly everyday for almost two years it became dull. "I guess I'm just used to it. Aren't you?"
"The sight of freedom? Never." He sits besides her silence settling over them before being broken by ladybug.
"You know I feel a lot like these lights. They exist, always dutifully performs its job, yet- no one stops to ever tell them thank you. I mean who would, that's what they're here for, they're just objects - tools, but then again maybe that's what I am. A tool."
"That's one way to look at it, if your looking at it in a somber and depressing way. But then you could always look at them the way I do."
She looks at him wistfully, "and what would that be?"
"Well" he stands and gestures to the Eiffel Tower "This would be us; Ladybug and Chat Noir, the unstoppable duo, and all those little lights, he turns around arms stretched wide. They'd be all our superhero friends each and every individual one. Cause everyday a new business or streetlight gets added bringing something new to the streets and everyday someone new is added to our team. And like how one light can't light up the entire city and one of us can't stop someone from being bad, but together. Together we can do anything." He retakes his post and turns towards her the Paris light framing his features and showing her the earnest look in his eyes. "Together we're like a family."
Ladybugs smiles softly "Thanks, I feel a lot better and your right I guess we are like a family." She turns back to the city "too bad about the view, it seems looking at them would always be a little bit dull. I guess it just; almost normal."
"Too bad about that, it does seem really unfortunate not to always look at such a site and enjoy it." Another silence settles over them as they both sit and stare at the view only for the silence to this time be disrupted by Chat. "So what did you call me here for, you know that big favor you've been all mysterious about."
"Right I almost forgot, I need you go grant me the biggest solid, it's for a friend's who I owe so much."
"You know I'll give you anything bugaboo," and there he went giving her that look that she'll die before admitting that it gave her butterflies. The look where his face went soft and his piercing green eyes stared straight into her soul.
"Well what I need is..."
After a long session of planning they both got up ready to part ways. "That about wraps it up" she mocked dusted of her costume. " I guess we can call it a night."
"Your right, time to head home, it's getting late." He turns and smiles,"Can I offer you some advice before I go?"
At her encouraging smile he went on "Just because something is normal doesn't mean you can make it better."
"Your right thanks Chaton, for everything."
"Anytime Bug" and quicker than she could register he pulls her into a hug, pecks her cheek and vaults away leaving Marinette to stand in her spot holding her cheek.
A/N I have started part two and plan to post it by tomorrow so by the rare chance you enjoyed this you can wait for that.
Side note I haven't watched s4 yet mainly cause Idk where to watch it in English so please forgive any wrong information if there is none idk.
