Prologue:
Replicator Carter showed Sam the actions Fifth made her commit to see the Tau'ri as the enemy. One was to kill Jack O'Neill. And in that memory, she hesitated and when she did it, she cried behind Fifth's back.
Chapter 1:
The gate shuts down on the Alpha site, Teel'c had fragments of her nanites in his hands. He failed. He failed to capture her. Now it is up to Carter to find a way to beat these tin cans.
Jack sat in his office, he just heard of what happened. He knew he couldn't blame her, if the roles were reversed and there was a Replicator double of him, he would want to know of this guy too. He finally decided to let it slide, but if she turns up again, she to be terminated on sight. He sat there as he waited for the gate to activate and Carter and Teel'c to come home.
And to speak of the devil, the gate activated and he stood up. Walking to his regular spot behind Walter, he smiled lightly when he saw it was SG-1's IDC. "Open the iris." He ordered. He walked down to the gate room to see it was only Sam. He was a little confused so he asked her. "Carter? Where's Teal'c?". Sam sighed. "Teal'c wished to stay behind to help on the Alpha site. Damage is severe.".
Jack shrugged. "Very well. Nothing to report?" he asked. Sam shook her head. "Only that my double escaped.". Jack nods. "How are you doing with this twin thing?" he asked. Sam shrugged. "Atleast it's not a version married to you." She said. Jack groaned. "Don't remind me.".
As he walked out of the gate room, Sam followed him and turned in her gear. Jack was walking to the Mess Hall when he noticed Sam following him. "Sir, I was about to grab a bite, care to join?" she asked. Jack thought about it. Or atleast pretended. "Sure.".
The Mess Hall was quiet. Jack was chewing on some cake as Sam was eating on her blue Jell-O. Jack couldn't help but notice that Sam kept looking at him. Which was odd. "How's Pete?" he asked. Sam looks at him with a questioning look. "Oh, he's fine." She said.
Jack looked at her now also questioning. Her reaction to his question was a little off. She would usually answer immediately. It hurts him to ask her about him, but he wants to know if she was happy. He cares for her, a lot. But something told him that she wasn't who she said she was. But he decided to give her a shot, she is probably just a little shook up knowing there is a psychopath on the loose that looks like her.
He excused himself and went to do his paperwork.
He sat know in his office, he was reading reports on SG-12's latest mission. He was tired and needed rest. So, he decided to go down to see what Sam was doing. He took the next elevator to her lab. He was at her door when he saw her inside. Knocking twice, she turned around and was looking at him. "Whatcha doing Carter?" he asked. Sam sighed. "Just, trying to think. I can't get any work done. That, thing keeps popping in my head." She said.
Jack smiled softly. "I am sure you will take your mind off of it, somehow.". Sam knew he was right. "Well. Thank you sir.". Jack then realized something. Her smile, it wasn't the same. It didn't give him the same vibes as it always gives. He needed to know if it was her or not!
"So, up for some fishing at my cabin this weekend?" he asked. Sam then shrugged. "Sure. I think Doctor Lee can handle things for a day or two.".
That gave him the answer. This wasn't HIS Carter. This is a fake. Stepping back, he faked a smile. "Great. I will just finish up some work and-" but he got interrupted when Walter announced and incoming wormhole.
Jack ran for the gate. Sam or whoever the hell she is was behind him. When he got there, Walter looked at the screen sceptical. "It's SG-1 sir.". Jack turned to the woman next to him. "Who are you?" he asked. But before he got answered, both him and Sam were beamed out.
Walter then opened the iris immediately.
