I am new to writing so I would appreciate it if everyone would leave comments with any tips or criticism you might have.
"I'm sorry but, no you can't be a hero." All Might said. 'Sorry kid but you need more than hope to stop villains.' he thought.
Izuku couldn't help but turn away from his hero as tears filled his eyes.
They sat there in silence for a few minutes before All Might spoke up. "Do you need help down, young man?"
Eager to get away from All Might Izuku answered with a small "yes."
After leaving All Might Izuku allowed himself to break down. He knew he should have expected the answer from the hero after all.
You see Izuku was born in a world where everyone is born with some unique power called a "Quirk". There is also a minority of people in the world of powers to be unfortunate enough to be born without a "Quirk". Izuku is a part of those unlucky few.
After talking to the man he looked up to most Izuku decided to walk around to clear his thoughts before he returned home so he didn't worry his sick mother.
Izuku suddenly ended his thoughts when he approached the park where he defended another boy from his childhood "friend" Bakugo. He decided to sit on a bench and just watch as people walked by deep in thought.
Suddenly he was cut from his dark thoughts when he felt a tap on his shoulder. "Do you mind if I take a seat?"
Izuku took a minute to take in the old man's features. He was very tall wearing a dark suit. He looked like he was in his sixties with white hair that is brushed back. He has a kind smile on his face with wrinkle lines that show his age. "No." Izuku said quietly.
The old man took a seat next to him and they sat in silence for a while watching as the world passed by.
The old man shuffled and turned towards Izuku. "Are you alright?". He asked with a concerned look on his face.
"I'm alright but thank you for your concern." Izuku said turning away to hide his grimace on his face.
The old man took a minute to reply. "When you're as old as I am you can tell when something is troubling someone."
Izuku took a minute to decide whether he should answer the old man. On one hand, he knows nothing about this person but, on the other, he needs to get his troubles off of his chest. He decides that he has nothing to lose talking to the old man. "I met the person I admired more than anyone and it wasn't what I thought it would be. He crushed my dreams and I don't know what to do anymore." he said with tears building up in his eyes.
The old man put a hand on his shoulder and asked with a concerned look on his face "what did they say?".
"He said that I can't be a hero if I'm quirkless." Izuku said while looking away nervous to see how the old man reacts to know of his lack of quirk.
"What do you mean child?" the old man said.
"He said since I'm quirkless that I wouldn't be able to be a hero." Izuku said once again.
"Child I have a telepathic quirk that lets me feel all of the people around me. I have a pull towards those with other telepathic abilities and I felt the pull from you. That's why I approached you." the old man said.
Izuku got a startled look on his face. "What do you mean? I was born with an extra joint in my pinky toe. The doctor told me and my mom I was quirkless."
The man thought about it for a bit. "Child, I want you to close your eyes and clear your mind. I also want you to let your emotions go for a moment and focus on this." he said handing Izuku a pencil.
Izuku took the pencil with shaking hands with hope filling him. He closed his eyes and tried to clear his mind but he just couldn't clear his mind. "I don't think this is going to work. I can't clear my mind." Izuku said looking down.
The old man took his hand. "Try again but this time focus on my voice and clear every other thought."
Izuku gulped and closed his eyes again.
"I want you to take away all of your other thoughts and only focus on the pencil."
Izuku kept his mind clear for a minute more. "I'm sorry sir but I don't the-" Izuku opened his eyes and was immediately amazed. The pencil the old man gave him was an inch above his hand. There was also a glow coming from his right hand.
"I knew you had some form of telepathic power when I saw you. The more you use your power the stronger it will get. Think of it as a muscle." the old man stood up and turned around to face Izuku and put a hand on his shoulder. "Young man I think you can be a hero" he told him.
Izuku felt all of his emotions come tumbling out as his eyes filled with tears and he jumped up and pulled the old man into a hug as he sobbed on his chest.
"If you would like I could teach you how to properly use your power and strengthen it. The old man offered.
Izuku still sobbing managed to utter a small "yes" to the man.
