FADING MEMORIES
Chapter One
Jesus he couldn't believe he was going to be 89 years old as his memories had been fading on him for the most part. Retired Leroy Jethro Gibbs was going to be watching his 21 year old son Shane Jackson Gibbs will be heading into basic training for Camp Pendleton in California. He had never been more proud of his son anxious to be leaving for the plane with his brothers and one sister watching his plane taking off from the glass of Dulles International airport.
Both Gibbs and his wife of 23 years married were saying goodbye to his son that looks exactly like his father at that age. Leroy Jethro Gibbs has been watching his son Shane to grow up after the first few years of his life was in turmoil with his mother and father embroiled in so much pain all caused by the Paraguay Cartel.
His brothers Nathan, David and his sister Catherine Ann wanted to say goodbye. But they were told to stay back with their parents saying goodbye.
There father the past few years has been losing ground with his health with his memories making it hard for Loreile to cope at times remembering always to the death of Shannon dying at the nursing home in Ct. almost twenty years ago. It was a complete during the 34 years for where Shannon and Kelly still alive living in Orlando, Florida with her husband Major James Hawkins working for the Witness Protection Program.
If it wasn't for the Witness Protection Agency both Shannon and Kelly back then would be dead. When she had found out about the contract hit on the both of them. Instead it was agents taking their back taking their place.
However they weren't able to say a damn word to Special Agent Gibbs of NIS/NCIS Until the year 2021. Kelly Gibbs Hawkins wasn't to arrive in time with her step brother Shane to be flying to California for basic training. He already had said that he wanted to be a long range sniper like his father. Though he is currently without a wife or girlfriend to make it easier on him with traveling.
She did called last night at the house with everyone gathering since all of the children accept Catherine Ann were living on their own. It was a strange conversation with her father picking up the phone from sitting on the new couch all black leather that was brought by Loreile. "Hello Buddy how are you doing little man?" Gibbs said remembering what he used to called when he was a year old or younger having to be talking at six months with help from Phineas now living overseas as a reporter for the Paris Gazelle for the past ten years. His adopted parents had passed away eight years prior. Every now and then he will stay in contact with Leroy Jethro Gibbs and the family.
Even though he was saddened that Gibbs had been suffering with memory lost. His doctors and including Doctor Cyril Taft still working at the hospital. He's been working with other specialists and the lab on how to improve memory lost. Along with Gibbs is scheduled for a brain imagery test to see where there is any damage to his brain stem and other areas of the brain. Maybe they might be able to help his health improve with his remembering both short and long term.
This test is schedule for two days from now. While Taft knew that his son Shane was heading for California and the basic training...
Back to the conversation with Shane and Gibbs. "Dad I am no longer a little man. Did you forget that I am a big man going into the marines just like you?" he said feeling bad for his father that he loves a great deal.
"Ah! Yes son I did forget. I am truly sorry to not remember. This is not easy thing for me. I just wish you all of the best Shane. I want to be very proud of you just like your mother." he stated with Loreile watching him talk shaking with his right hand due to the constant beatings he's taken over the years on the job and taking on the Cartel.
He had done the right thing with retiring in 2021 to work 16 hours a week for the Academy and gun range while working a few of the OFF THE BOOKS missions.
"Dad I need for you to take good care of yourself while I am gone. Mother is trying her best to cope with your illness. Maybe the tests that you're taking in a few days will be able to help with saving your life and your soul."
"I will try is all I can say on the subject. We will be seeing you take off tomorrow at the airport. Good night and don't over sleep like how you used to do for when you were a child?"
"Dad that wasn't me it was David. Anyway bye!" he said with going back to finish up his packing and ordering Chinese food one last time. No doubt when he gets to Camp Pendleton he won't be having this kind of meals?
Loreile looked at her husband sitting back against the couch with rubbing his right hand like he always did years ago. He was so vibrate until the years started to pass him by and many of his team members going on to other positions as with Director Leon Vance to take over as SECNAV.
While a woman Jackie Wilkinson taking over for NCIS A VERY STRONG WOMAN that knows her job extremely well. Currently Supervisory agent Timothy McGee taking over for Special Agent Gibbs for the past 18 years. While Eleanor Bishop had married and left NCIS to be a teacher in Languages, while her husband Nicholas Torres married to Eleanor with Dane as their son now 21 years old going to be joining NCIS as a trainee.
Gibbs had closed his eyes resting them his tiredness of both his body and mind. His wife came over to him to rub his temples like always ever since they had been married and prior.
She was around prior to getting married at NCIS Lake of the Naval Yards having to been a double ceremony with Kelly and Colonel James Haskins.
He opened his crystal tired blue eyes that she loves the most. He gets up to have her sit first while he could lay on her lap with the TV down low. His hair still short as ever and having to be her SILVERFOX husband. She had begun to rub his temples liked always making him feel so better with his head thinking too much of the past.
"Loreile...I love you...I am sorry for putting you through too much over the years?" he said it softly with his demeanor.
"I love you two Jethro forever time!" she stated with the tears falling down her cheeks for the past years like always. She was hoping with the tests with the doctors will be able to find a way to help him with his memories and other conditions. She been praying that part of their life will not end as with their intimate life even though he remembers that all of the time...
