AN: Well, I guess it was inevitable that I would tackle this story. Again.
I have been considering rewriting Through Her Eyes for a while now. Considering that it is my least favorite Super Koopalings Episode, I wanted to write it in a way that I'll be satisfied with. However, I don't want to take away from my new projects either. So, as a compromise to both myself and you guys, I decided to make it so that this is a side project rather than a main one.
With that out of the way, I hope you enjoy this :)
Chapter 1 Hollow
The castle just did not feel right today. It felt gloomy, lonely, and empty. Maybe this was because of the fact that it was raining outside. Maybe it was due to the fact that, despite it being around noon time, the whole place was extremely dark. Maybe it was because the servants had gone on strike.
Or maybe it was due to the fact that Roy was in a terrible mood.
He had been in a terrible mood for the entire week. Which was odd, considering that he wasn't one to feel cranky. As he laid on his bed, Roy felt like he was going to sink through the floor and fall to the center of the Earth. He let out a dreary sigh and turned over on his side.
"What the World Eight is wrong with me?" he asked himself sullenly. The only answer that Roy got was the pitter patter of rain on his window. He shook his head and sat up. He allowed his shade covered eyes to examine his room. It was a complete pigsty, just the way Roy liked it. Dust and spider webs were accumulating in the corners. There were unwashed boxers and wrinkled up clothes lining the floor. The ruby red carpet looked dull with gunk.
Roy stared at the carpet. The color...he had never noticed it before. It was beautiful. The red was welcoming, easy on the eyes. It reminded him of something. Someone.
"Celia."
Of course. That was why Roy's mood was at an all time low. That was the reason why he couldn't pull himself out of his funk. He missed Celia. He longed for her.
Roy let out a dreamy sigh. Celia. Celia was a human girl that Roy had gone on a journey with. Well, that first part wasn't entirely true. Celia was, technically, only half human. Her father was a Koopa, making her a hybrid. She so displayed traits that made her look like a hybrid. She had hair that was fiery in color, eyes that were like the smooth, shiny, red skin of an apple. She also had gorgeous golden skin.
And she was awesome too. Roy had grown to like her a lot. Unfortunately, when he had asked her if she was interested in going out with him, she refused. She had said that she wanted a chance to get closer with her dad, Singe Marksmite.
That part still made Roy feel a little iffy. He fell backwards onto his bed again. His chest started to rise and fall. He stared up at his grungy, gray ceiling in dismay.
"Why did she have to say no?" he asked. Of course, he knew the answer, but that didn't change the fact that he now felt extremely horrible. It felt as his heart was shedding tears of its own.
That thought made Roy sit back up. This was ridiculous. He shouldn't be stewing in his own misery! He shouldn't be throwing a pity party either! He should be attempting to do something about this!
So, with that, Roy placed his feet firmly on the ground. He started marching his way down the hallway. His mouth was in a firm, confident line. His fists were closed, but not tightly so. Each step he took was so full of purpose that it would make a soldier blush.
Finally, Roy got to the door. He placed his hand on it and took a deep breath. It had been five months since she had seen her. He was excited to see her again. He slowly started to open the door…
"Roy?"
Roy looked back and saw Kamek. He was approaching him with a curious and intrigued expression.
"What are you doing?"
Roy gulped and slowly started to close the door again. He cast a glance at Kamek, then at the door. Kamek, door. Kamek, door.
"I'm...leaving?"
"Why?" Kamek asked. "It's pouring outside; you'll get soaked!"
Roy felt his heart sink. It felt like it was plummeting at a tremendous speed, similar to the raindrops outside. He sighed and took his hand off the door.
"I know. I just...I need to do something."
Kamek slowly approached.
"What would that be? Is everything okay?"
Roy gulped. Should he tell Kamek about Celia. It probably wouldn't hurt.
"There's this girl…" he started. As soon as those three words escaped from his mouth, Kamek laughed.
"Uh oh!" The normally stern magikoopa said with a smile. "Stop the presses everyone! Roy Koopa has found another crush!" He snickered. "What will this be, your 150th rejection?"
"It's not like that!" Roy said. His face felt warm, his tail curled into a knot. He started to twiddle his thumbs. "This girl.. likes me back."
Kamek raised an eyebrow.
"Well, that's news to me." He approached the burly Koopaling. "Are you certain that is the case." When Roy nodded, Kamek put his hand to his chin. "Huh. Looks like we are dealing with a special case."
Roy felt his insides quench up.
"Haha. Now, if you'll excuse me…"
Kamek placed his hand on Roy's shoulder.
"Uh, Buddy," he said. "You're not going anywhere during this storm." Conveniently, when he said that, a thunder cracked could be heard outside. Roy huffed.
"Well then, what am I supposed to do?"
Kamek grinned.
"I think I might have a solution."
…
Kamek squinted at the memory sphere that rested on the pillar in front of him. A gorgeous white glow emanated off of it, giving the normally dark room a very odd vibe. He raised his wand.
"Observus pastel Celia quintet!"
With that, the memory sphere started to glow with a soft, mint green light. Kamek smiled at the impressed Roy.
"Wait," Roy said. "You're seriously allowing me to use this?"
"Yep," Kamek said with a nod. "With this memory sphere, you will be able to see what your girl has been doing over the past few months."
Roy blinked.
"Uh...thanks, Kamek."
"Of course." Kamek replied. With that, Roy placed his hand onto the memory sphere.
