And every night is the worst night ever
- I'm Just A Kid | Simple Plan
After the war, their nights are plagued by nightmares. Some are relieving the worst moments of battle, some bring the question What if I didn't make it in time? or What if they died?
Hermione wakes up screaming, once. Another time, Clary finds herself in the kitchen holding a knife after sleepwalking there, trying not to think of herself as a murderer. Not long after that, Ron wakes up thinking his girlfriend and best friend were dead.
Hagrid still hears a whisper (come to die) and a flash of green light (and feels the weight of her body in his arms). George sees the wall collapsing, Fred's still body, a scream -
Pavarti remembers, as if it were yesterday, Fenrir Greyback attacking Lavender. In Neville's dreams, Nagini kills him before he can.
Charlie tries not to remember that he didn't get the message quick enough. Percy still doesn't forgive himself for leaving his family.
Draco thinks he doesn't deserve to be forgiven. Goyle replays Crabbe's dead over and over again.
Dennis hates himself for not wanting to forgive Clary. Ginny remember, vividly, Voldemort telling them Clary was dead.
Angelina and Alicia visit Katie's grave every month, sometimes bumping into Cho. Molly and Arthur once held hands as they watched Fred's hand on the enchanted clock finally fall off, wondering what would happen if Bellatrix killed Molly first, or if Clary didn't save her fast enough.
Andromeda dreams of different ways her daughter could have been killed. Many Muggleborns wake up thinking they're still in Azkaban.
Luna and Mr Ollivander relieve their time in Malfoy Manor. Mr Lovegood just hopes that his daughter wasn't tortured.
Seamus remembers how he got his scars. McGonagall, Kingsley, and Slughorn wonder what if Voldemort killed me?
After the war, their nights are plagued with nightmares. And maybe one of them killed themselves, just to get away from them.
