Author's Note: this is my first story that I have ever written so feel free to comment on what I can make better. Also want to apologize about how the first two chapters were so short. I didn't know exactly how many words I should write in each chapter, so starting in chapter 3 the word count goes to around 1.5k to 2k. I have no beta to proofread my work and offer different ideas so any comment good or bad I'd really appreciate it. All I ask is to keep it professional. I don't mind critiques on my work. I'd just rather it not be unnecessarily rude. Keep it clean please :)
Chapter 1
Several men await outside a house for their new sibling to be born restlessly listening to their mother's cry. The youngest son in particular is pacing back and forth running out of patience, "I am tired Elijah, why can't I go do something else while mother is giving birth. I see not why I should have to stand here and wait for hours."
The Second eldest son sighs in exasperation and replies for what seems like the thousandth time, " Kol it is our duty as men in the house to protect our mother while she is in such a vulnerable state while father goes hunting for food. It is of the utmost importance to make sure mother regains her strength as soon as possible."
Before Kol could reply they hear their mother calling for them to meet their new sibling. Each of them look at each other in nervousness to meet the newest Mikaelson into the world. Finally gaining courage they walk in "Children come great your new brother". They all saw their mother tired and sweaty from the long labor and finally walked up to her. She moved the furs to show them what he looked like and each sibling fell in love with him right then and there.
Esther proudly states her newest son's name, "Meet Henrik Mikaelson."
Athena woke up with a start. She runs her hands over her face trying to wake up and make sense of the dreams of the strange family she's been having. She tries to think of anything she's been doing differently since the dreams started and just shakes her head and mutters, "Come on Athena what are with these strange dreams."
"Athena come quick the baby is coming!"
She bolts out of bed getting tangled in her sheets she hit the ground with a thud. Not letting it stop her from reaching her mother she scrambles out and starts running around the room like a headless chicken trying to find nicer clothes to make a good impression. She ended up running into everything in the darkness of the room. Athena groans internally already knowing the bruises will show themselves in their blue and black glory tomorrow. Finally ready and dressed she ran downstairs to see her mother already in the car.
"Mom lets go hurry" She's not even the one not even the one in labor but is freaking out more than her mother is. Finally getting to the hospital they rush my mother back after seeing her in labor and the abnormal amount of blood running down her leg. Athena sat down to wait for her mother in the waiting room for what felt like hours. The doctor finally comes through the doors and she stands up to meet him halfway.
She can tell something is wrong by the emotion he is projecting. "You are Athena Black correct?" Worried about his emotions but still excited to meet her new sibling she replied quickly in an almost breathless voice while wringing her hands in a nervous habit, "Yes that's me. How is my Mom and new sibling? Are they okay?" He gestures to follow him quickly "Your mother had complications and sadly there is nothing we can do. She has asked for you to come in and name your new brother. I am truly sorry"
She runs into the room he pointed her towards in tears not wanting to lose her own mother so young. Seeing her on the bed looking weaker than Athena has ever seen her broke her heart. She smiles softly and reassuringly as she sees my tears. "Athena, my warrior princess come here." Walking closer Athena can finally see her brother. She grabs Athena's hand tightly and told her something she will never forget. "Today is the day you will remember in sadness and joy. I am so sorry that I am leaving you both so young, but I need you to promise me something, always look out for each other. You both will be the last of the Black family. Magic runs deep in your veins. There are books underneath my bed I need you to read. Promise me you will never resent your brother for my death." Endless tears are running down Athena's grey colored eyes while she tries to contain her emotions and answer in the strongest voice she could muster "I promise." Remembering a phrase from the weird dreams of the family she has been getting and utter, "Always and forever." Athena takes her baby brother out of her mom's arms to take a better look at him and gets shocked by how eerily similar he looks to the baby in the latest dream. "Henrik" she mutters. Looking towards her mom, eyes shiny and puffy from crying, but filled with a determination to always be there for him she replies louder with more confidence "His name is Henrik Mikaelson Black"
