The patient in the hospital bed slowly open their eyes. Looking around, they realized that they were in a hospital room. Over to their right, they noticed someone asleep in on of the chairs. Squinting, the figure in the chair came into focus. It was Rock.
Rock stirred as he heard movement in the bed.
"Well look who's finally awake?"
"Damn. How long was I out?"
"About 2 days. Had me scared. You shouldn't drink yourself into that state"
"I know, I know. I'm sure Dutch is pissed"
"Why would Dutch be pissed?" Rock asked.
"Because I'm fucking sleeping on the job. Any boss would be pissed at that"
Rock's face twitched before turning to one of concern.
"Becky, Dutch isn't our boss. He's our landlord" Rock replied slowly.
"Did you fucking hit your head. Of course he's our boss. Benny's our coworker, Jane is his skanky girlfriend, and Feng is some dumb bitch we picked up on the streets" Becky replied.
Rock looked even more distraught. He sighed before responding.
"Benny and Jane are the nice couple who live across the hall. They are swingers which is why Jane asked if we wanted to have an orgy with them. And Li Feng is my Ex who lives two floors above us"
Becky starred at Rock like he lost his damn mind.
"But what about Eda, Balalaika, Mr. Chang, Yolanda, that robot maid Roberta and her little master Garcia? Oh, and that damn mini maid Fabiola?"
"Eda is your coworker who has a crush on me and won't stop flirting with me. Balalaika is the nickname you gave you Boss, Mrs. Pavlovena. Mr. Chang is my boss, Bai Ji-Sin Chang. Roberta is the nice lady down the hall who adopted two orphans, Garcia and Fabiola. And Yolanda is the nun who lives on the main floor of our building with her grandson Rico. Are you sure you're alright Becky?" Rock asked, rising and walking to the side of the bed.
"Of course I'm fucking alright. And why the hell do you keep calling me Becky? It's Revy" Revy shouted at Rock.
"You told me to call you Becky when we first started dating. You said you hated being called Rebecca" Rock replied as he pressed a button on the wall and a nurse appeared a moment later.
"Yes?" The Nurse asked.
"The fuck do you want?" Revy asked.
"She is delirious from her coma" Rock told the nurse.
"I'm not fucking crazy, you are!" Revy shouted. "Why can't you remember that we work for Dutch at the Lagoon Company? We're fucking pirates! We run... the... seas" Revy finished, drifting off. What Revy hadn't noticed was that while she was shouting, the nurse had injected tranquilizer into her IV, knocking her out.
"Thank you Nurse" Rock replied solemnly.

When Revy awoke later, her head was pounding. But she remembered... everything. How she had tried to drink herself to death. Her life came flooding back to her, clashing with the dream of her life in Roanapur. Everything Rock had told her was true, she knew this. As she was starting to sit up, holding her head, Rock walked in.
"How are you feeling Becky?" He asked.
"Better, I think" She replied. "Rock. I need to explain something"
"Oh really" He asked, raising an eye.
"While I was in my coma, I had a dream"
And so Becky/Revy told Rock everything about her dream of Roanapur and her time with the Lagoon Company. Rock could only marvel how so many things in the dream lined up with the real life. Eda always being after Rock; Dutch their landlord; Benny and Jane; Jane and her orgies; Mrs. Pavlovena, who ran the Jackpot Pigeon nightclub, whom the staff nicknamed Balalaika (plus her semi secret relationship with Rock's boss, Mr. Chang); Mr' Chang and his import business; Sister Yolanda and her grandson Rico who had recently moved in; Roberta, Garcia, and Fabiola (Roberta was an interesting woman to be sure, and Fabiola often tried to imitate everything she did); even the "Vampire Twins" could be tied to the twins who were abused by their parents on the top floor (luckily Rock had evidence and had called CPS on the parents. The kids were removed). But the one aspect that struck him the most was how Dream Revy felt that Rock didn't want her.
Rock knew Becky had a hard life growing up. Her old man was a drunk, her mom died when she was drunk. Becky was assaulted by a corrupt cop after being picked up for tagging an underpass, but the idiot did it right on a security camera, so he went away for life. To make that day worse, Becky came home to find her father dead from alcohol poisoning. Becky had blamed herself for years, saying how if she had not been out spray painting, then she might have been home to save her dad. This fit with the dream version where she killed him, because she believed she had for a long while. It wasn't until she had met Rock that her life had started to tun around. But their relationship was not without it's challenges. Rock wanted to help more than he could, and Becky would push him away sometimes. This hurt Rock, who wanted nothing more than to help the woman he loved. Becky drank constantly. It was during one of these drunk episodes she couldn't pronounce Rokoro and started calling him Rock. The nickname had stuck. The most recent drinking episode was due to Rock helping Eda (who often stopped by to see Sister Yolanda whom she had met at a laundromat) and Becky felt that Rock was betraying her. So she had started drinking, which lead them here. After she was done, she looked at Rock.
"And that's everything" She finished.
"That's all?" Rock asked incredulously.
"Yeah. I think so"
"Well color me amazed. I didn't realize that's how you felt"
"Me neither" Becky replied, sounding quite small.
The pair sat in silence for a while. It was Rock who finally spoke.
"So, does this change anything between us?"
"How so?"
"Well obviously this dream had a profound impact on you. Do we need to take a break so you can sort through all this?"
"NO!" Becky almost shouted. Rock looked at her puzzled.
"I spent that entire dream pushing you away. Looking back at it now, all I feel is pain from it. I don't ever want you to leave"
"Well then" Rock started, smiling. "I've been holding onto this for a while; unsure when the time would be right. And while I'd love to do this at a fancy dinner or on a romantic bridge, I feel that there will be no better time"
Rock got out of the chair and down onto one knee. Reaching into his pocket, he removed a small box. He opened it, revealing a beautiful ruby ring.
"Rebecca Li, will you make me the happiest man in the world be becoming Mrs. Okajima? Will you marry me?"
Becky's eyes began to tear up.
"Yes, I will marry you Rokoro Okajima!"
A/N: So this idea popped into me head the other day and I figured why not write something short for it. I don't really like upending the entire series like this, but it was a neat experiment in how normal I could make the characters. Plus Dutch as a landlord seemed hilarious to me. Thanks to MrDrP, who's story Just A Dream inspired this little tale. He doesn't write Black Lagoon, but Kim Possible. I was big into the show when I was younger, and this is the result of changes in tastes over time.
If there is anyone who is familiar with both shows, do you think there might be market/desire for a KP/Black Lagoon crossover? It would be a huge undertaking, but could be worth it if done right. Let me know.
