When Lucy had seen the invitation from Jiya and Rufus, she had laughed herself to sleep that night; for their anniversary party, Jiya and Rufus were throwing a costume party, a 1940s themed party, and Lucy was almost certain that Rufus had played a role in choosing the time period; he knew how special that time period was to Lucy, to Wyatt and Lucy hoped that her boyfriend found it as amusing as she did. She and Wyatt were living together, but Wyatt had been away on a mission for the past 2 months.

Since Rufus had told her about the party, Lucy had been dedicated to finding a dress that was identical to the one she had worn to the party in 1941, the mostly white dress, with pieces of gold. She loved thinking about that dress, thinking about that night and how Wyatt's blue eyes had sparked against the pool's glow. Now, it seemed very fitting that it had been the first time she and Wyatt had been intimate. The day before Wyatt returned, she found such a dress, one which was almost identical to the one she had worn, as well as finding a suit for Wyatt which was just the same, including the black bowtie. It was a 1940s party, so she wanted it to be perfect. Little did she know that Wyatt had been in touch with Rufus, with regards to his own plan to make the night perfect and he was trusting Rufus to keep this secret from Lucy.

As soon as Wyatt stepped into their flat, Lucy pulled him into a tight hug and kissed him, passionately, and Wyatt returned this, wanting to hold her so close and never let her go. "Easy there, ma'am, you're going to choke me to death!" He joked, chuckling, with his Texan accent very clear, his eyes glowing with his love for her.

Laughing, Lucy laughed. "I'm sorry, but I missed you. Guess what? Rufus and Jiya are having an anniversary party at their house tonight!" Wyatt did his best to school his features, to be totally surprised by what Lucy was telling him, but he smiled to himself, secretly. "And guess what? It's a themed 1940s costume party and I found costumes very similar to the ones we wore in Hollywood, in 1941!" Her enthusiasm was great to see. She was so happy.

Feigning ignorance, Wyatt raised his eyebrows. "You're kidding, right?" Without another word, Lucy led him into their bedroom to show him what she had found. He led out a dry laugh and shook his head, putting his hands on his hips, "Lucy, I'm not wearing that."

Looking between her boyfriend and the clothes, Lucy rolled her eyes and laughed. "Wyatt, you have to! It's a costume party."

"Parties aren't my thing. You know that."

Lucy titled her head to the side and smiled, wrapping her arms around his neck. "You don't remember the last 1940s party we went to, because I'm pretty sure we both had a good time, didn't we?"

Wyatt nodded and chuckled. "If you insist, ma'am." They both started to laugh and Wyatt smiled to himself as he held Lucy, because she had no idea what he had planned.

Later that evening, Lucy and Wyatt changed into their costumes and made their way to Rufus and Jiya's house and Lucy noticed that Wyatt seemed to be a bit nervous. He didn't normally get nervous, so she assumed that it was because he had only just returned from a mission. Just before they entered the house, Wyatt touched Lucy's elbow and murmured, "You look beautiful, Lucy."

As soon as they were inside, Rufus and Jiya walked over to them. "Lucy, I love your dress and, Wyatt, you're looking dapper as ever!"

"Thanks, Jiya. You look wonderful!" Lucy turned her attention to Rufus. Her friend was just grinning at her and Wyatt, with a very happy look in his eyes. "Rufus, you ok?"

Carefully, Wyatt jabbed Rufus in his ribs and looked at him, with a hint of humour in his eyes as the other man replied, "Fine, Lucy. Good, thanks. Wyatt, why don't we go and…." He trailed off and Wyatt just laughed before following him. Jiya knew what was happening, but she distracted Lucy.

Half an hour later, Jiya told Lucy that there was a historical artifice she wanted her to look at in the library and, suspiciously, Lucy went upstairs, only to find that the room was decorated with candles and, when she looked closer, she could see that the room had been made to look like the room she and Wyatt had stayed in that night. In Hollywood, in 1941.

Wyatt stepped out of the shadow of the candles and passed Lucy a blue box. All he said was open it, in a whisper and when she did, she saw a baubles from 1941 and next it to was an engagement ring. Tears filled her eyes and when she looked back at Wyatt, he was on the floor, on his knee, with tears in his own eyes. "Lucy, this place is very much like the place where I realised I loved you. If I could take you back to 1941, I would. 1941, that night, was one of the best nights of my life, because I was with you. I just looked at you and I knew: You were my reason for wanting to live. I remember being in that room with you and seeing and wanting only you, for the rest of my life." He looked into her eyes and stood up, looking deep into her eyes, as he whispered, "Lucy Preston, will you marry me?"

Unsure of how else to answer, Lucy placed the ring on her finger and then just as she had done that night in 1941, allowed Wyatt to kiss her first, before she broke the kiss, looking into his eyes. Smiling with all of the joy and love she was feeling, she nodded. "Yes, Wyatt, I'll marry you. That was the night I realised I loved you, too." Wyatt smiled back at her and she wrapped her arms around his neck and they kissed passionately, just as they had done in 1941 and neither of them had ever been happier, knowing that they had the rest of their lives together.
