This was it, they could not lose another person at the hands of this monster.
Seeing that Harry was still walking towards Voldemort, Elias sets himself on fire with fiendfyre, launching himself into the air and landing in the centre of the group, while Nora traps the inferi, and Elias, within a cave that she made out of the ground.
Seeing this happen, Harry is shocked, he had already told Elias never to rush into something that would kill him. Not knowing if Elias would walk out victorious, Harry stops for a moment, taking his eyes away from Voldemort entirely. Seeing that Harry is distracted, Voldemort aims his wand at Harry, who ends up getting hit with a curse named the Markline curse, stripping him of his magic and dropping him to the floor in agony.
Laughing at the boy on the floor, Voldemort approaches him and tells Harry that he was a weak fool. He was no more than ten steps away from Harry, however he took a step back upon seeing the smile on Harry's face.
"Did you really think I hadn't planned for this very occurrence, Tom? I was told long ago that I would have to choose Magic or death, I choose magic." Harry taunted, absorbing his magic back from his sword, with the only reaction from Voldemort being to babble that what was happening was impossible, and in a single movement he looked the Dark Lord in the eyes, petrifying Voldemort and decapitating him.
As it tumbled to the floor, the expression of disbelief was still evident upon Voldemort's face. The last thing Harry saw before exhaustion claimed him was Elias erupting out of the side of the cave, literally melting the rock around him.
The ripple of magic that was felt around the world was so powerful that it would be impossible to ignore. It sang a song that everyone could hear, a song of freedom and beauty.
While those in the waking world were working with wizards from all over the world, rebuilding after the damage that Voldemort had done to Britain and Europe during his lifetime, Harry was meeting with the forces of the universe once again.
"You have preserved through so much, surviving everything that was thrown your way, and haven't resorted to cruelty." Magic decreed once Harry arrived into the beyond.
"I wonder, if given the chance, would you do it all again, knowing what you know now?" Fate asked him, making her voice more persuasive than Harry had ever heard, he imagined this enticement was similar to how a Siren lured men to their deaths.
"No, to do so would render all of our struggles pointless, it would rob every sacrifice of it's significance. A life given shouldn't be ignored, I wish I could journey back with those who gave their lives in this fight, unfortunately they have all become Inferi and are beyond even my reach." Harry whispered the last bit, not wanting to think about everyone who would be unrecognisable as ash piles within the makeshift cave.
"There is one who you could bring back, Blaise Zabini, he was uncorrupted by Voldemort and as a result he could return to his body. This isn't a free offer, if you do this then your immortality is gone. The title of Master of Death will be in name only and once you die, it will be claimed by nobody." Death offered, looking every bit the skeletal figure that everyone associated with Death.
"Deal, I don't want to be immortal, I simply wish to be a normal person now." Harry responded, feeling a hand on his shoulder once he had finished speaking.
"You would give up your immortality for me? The chance to live infinite lives, in exchange for me living a single life?" Blaise asked, incredulous at the idea that Harry would do such a thing for him. "I would expect you to do this for Dudley, or Elias, or either of your parents… not for me."
"Why wouldn't I? The Vipers are all family, also there is the fact that I refuse to allow your son to grow up without a father."
"You know about that… wait you already know that it will be a boy?" Blaise responded, not even knowing that information for himself.
"I am giving my immortality away, make sure your life is a good one." Harry said with finality, hugging Blaise for a moment before the two returned to the world of the living.
"Oh my God, Blaise! You're alive?" Hermione shouted, rushing over to her lover and dropping to her knees beside him. "You were hit with the killing curse."
"Blame Harry for that, he gave up his immortality for me." Blaise remarked, his entire body feeling bruised and broken but crucially he felt alive.
"He wouldn't have had to if you hadn't done something as stupid as diving in between Harry and Voldemort, he could have easily come back and returned to the living." Hermione shouted at him, the stress making her hysterical.
"Relax Hermione, I honestly didn't want to be immortal. I would hate to have to watch everyone I love die." Harry shot in, having been placed amongst the dead by accident. "Besides, you can't blame me for ensuring that your child has both of his parents." Harry added on, with many of those in mourning going over to congratulate her.
Harry looked around for all of his friends, only to find a distraught Luna Lovegood, who had lost her father during the fight. Harry walked over to comfort her but a member of the Order had beaten him to it, he was the Grandson of Newt Scammander, if Harry remembered correctly.
It would take a lot of time, money, and cooperation, but soon the wizarding world would be back to normal and life would continue. The wizengamot and the international Confederation of Wizards were both in session and would be discussing how to move forward.
There were no bodies to bury, as the Inferi had all been inmolated by Elias' FiendFyre, but there would be a grand ceremony to honour those who lost their lives tonight.
Harry knew that the world would be brighter in time, though for now he wished for some simple peace and quiet, pulling the invisibility cloak over himself and walking to find a quiet area of the castle.
