What's up, everyone! This is GKC here bringing you a crossover between Cardfight Vanguard and Yu-Gi-Oh: Arc-V.
*SKRRRRRRRRRRRRRRT!*
Okay, okay I can already feel the skepticism from here. Hear me out, will ya?
Now think, Vanguard has a lot of impressive creatures that would make regular Duel Monsters look like chumps. That's not counting the different opportunities for it. I don't think there's any crossovers like this anyways. So, let's call this an experiment and see where this goes.
Now for the disclaimer: I do not own, except my OCs, Cardfight Vanguard or Yu-Gi-Oh. All rights belong to their respective owners.
Now let's get this party started… BEGIN!
Chapter 1: New Duelist in Town
Maiami City.
One of the most popular cities in the world. Why, you ask? Because it was home to some of the best Pro Duelists in the game of Duel Monsters. When one thinks of Pro Duelists, the first few that come to mind would either be Yugi Mutou or Seto Kaiba, others like Edo Phoenix, Jun Manjoume, or Ryo Marufuji also come to mind. Or how about the likes of Yusei Fudo and Team 5D's?
Well, unfortunately, those names don't exist in Maiami City. Instead, the one person who is known all around is the Pro Entertainment Duelist, Yusho Sakaki.
Thanks to the revolutionary technology known as Solid Vision, the popular game of Duel Monsters has been taken to the next level along with the latest version of the game, Action Duels. Not only are monsters given form but they can now be physically touched by Duelists even showcasing emotions like living breathing creatures.
But it was this very technology that led to the decline in many other trading card games, especially one very particular popular card game: Cardfight Vanguard.
This popular card game used to take the entire world by storm and people from around the globe have taken a liking to it. It was so popular that it became a part of daily life. It was a card game for all ages. Young or old, strong or weak, professional or amateur - it didn't matter. It was something that everyone could enjoy.
Unfortunately, this sparked a sort of rivalry between Duel Monsters and Vanguard. Players of both games would claim that the cards they played were better than the other. Sometimes this ended in physical fights that police would have to break up. However, the Card Game Cold War came to an end with the use of Solid Vision, something that Cardfight Vanguard couldn't replicate. Thus, the game lost its popularity.
Due to this, Vanguard became a thing of the past. Card shops that once sold those cards were forced to not sell them anymore and anyone caught with these cards were either ridiculed or in rarer cases beaten down just for owning it. Thus, Vanguard had been destroyed and Duel Monsters became the number one card game on the planet.
However, rumors had spread that the Tatsunagi Foundation, which had a hand in the production of Vanguard cards, made a deal with Industrial Illusions to create one-of-a-kind Decks of Duel Monsters composed of the many Clans from the Cardfight Vanguard game. This of course, had caused major controversy amongst the community that Vanguard is desperately trying to leech off of Duel Monsters in order to save itself from obscurity. But members of the Tatsunagi Foundation denied these accusations, claiming these rumors as false. However, some Duelists were actually expecting to see such Decks one day. Chief among them were those of the Leo Corporation.
And it just so happens that three of those Decks were just about to be sent out.
"So this is Maiami City…" A youthful masculine voice spoke as a pair of ocean blue eyes took in the sight of the city. The owner of the voice is a sixteen year old teenage boy with long blue hair with a right hair bang and light skin. He wore a dark red t-shirt with a light blue hoodie and the symbol of the Royal Paladins stitched on the back of the jacket in white. Tan trousers with a brown leather belt and his Deck Holster, a pair of white-red sneakers, and blue-white gloves that resemble VF Gloves. On his left arm was an older model of a Duel Disk that resembled a futuristic blade with a blue and white color scheme and red gemstone. "Looks a lot brighter than on the brochure."
"Tsubasa, can you come down here? I need help unpacking a few of the boxes." A feminine voice called out.
"And just like that, reality sets in." The boy, Tsubasa, mumbled before calling out, "On the way, mom."
This was Tsubasa Sendou, a descendant of the great Aichi Sendou, who was an amazing Cardfighter, Master of the Royal Paladin clan, his Avatar being Blaster Blade, and team leader of the famous Team Quadrifolio, or Team Q4 for short. Tsubasa grew up hearing the stories of his ancestor and the fabled Royal Paladins, finding the history of such amazing warriors to be fantastic. He was disheartened though that Vanguard had lost its popularity even when he grew up playing the game nearly all his life. But after that day, he never touched his Vanguard deck again. That is until one day he received a package with no sender and inside was a Duel Monsters Deck composed of the Royal Paladins. At first, Tsubasa thought it was a trick but after testing it on an old Duel Disk he bought, the cards were completely legit. This excited Tsubasa because now he could play with his favorite Clan once more along with a few of his favorite units.
But for now, he will deal with that later, right now he has to help his mother unpack for the new house they were living in.
As he walked down the stairs that led up to the second story of the house, Tsubasa entered what was soon to be the living room and found an older woman rummaging through an open box.
The woman was in her late thirties with long blue hair that reached her back but it was in a lighter shade than Tsubasa's own, ocean blue eyes, and milky white skin. She wore a simple white blouse, a knee-length dark blue skirt, and pink slippers.
This woman is Kyoko Sendou, Tsubasa's mother.
"What did you need me to move, mom?" Tsubasa asked.
"Oh, Tsubasa. I just wanted you to take this box. It has all of your father's things in it." Kyoko answered with a bright smile.
"Sure." Tsubasa nodded, as he approached her and took it off her hands before walking off. "Where do you want this?" He called out.
"The Master Bedroom, your father can unpack those when he gets home from work." Kyoko told her son.
"Got it, mom." Tsubasa nodded with a smile of his own, marching back upstairs to place the box in the largest bedroom of the whole house. A few of his own things were still in boxes such as his clothes and personal items. But there was one thing he could never part with; his Deck.
His old Vanguard Deck. In fact, it was the very same deck that his ancestor Aichi once held. It was a miracle in itself that the cards were kept in pristine and mint condition, despite the number of decades that passed since Aichi's time. Tsubasa never had the stomach to throw out these cards like other Vanguard players. He couldn't explain it but if he had thrown out the cards, he would have lost a part of himself.
Tsubasa took out the Deck and looked at the old cards, a small smile appearing in his face as he stared fondly at the Royal Paladins like they were old friends then his eyes lingered on two particular cards that he felt a strong connection to. Blaster Blade and Soul Saver Dragon. He didn't know why but just looking at these cards made him feel like he was whole. Like they were meant for him.
"I'm sorry I haven't played with you guys for so long. But… I hope the Duel Monster versions of you will be more than enough to know that I still care about you all." Tsubasa told his cards. He received no response but for some strange reason, he believed they understood him. He set his old Deck back into the box then placed it in his closet.
For the next two and a half hours, Tsubasa and Kyoko continued to unbox and move worldly possessions into their proper places. Soon enough, their new home started to look like an acceptable place to live.
Tsubasa rubbed his forehead to wipe off any sweat then smiled, "Almost done. Just a few more boxes and I can take a nap."
"Tsubasa," His mother called, making the boy pause as he looked over at Kyoko, who was in the kitchen, putting away her cookware. "Since we're almost done, why don't you go out and explore the city for a while?"
"You sure, mom? I don't wanna leave you to finish this all by yourself." The blue-haired teen offered.
"Oh, don't you worry about me. I can take care of this by myself. Besides, you need to get familiar with the city, right? Well, go on out there and explore." Kyoko told her son with a smile.
"Well okay,"
"Just make sure you don't get lost. I don't want your dinner going cold by the time you get home." Kyoko giggled.
"Mom, that was just one time." Tsubasa groaned.
"Hmmmmmmmm~?" Kyoko smiled slyly. "Are you sure~?"
"Yes, I'm completely sure, mom. I won't get lost."
"Then I'll see you home by dinner time, okay?"
"Alright, I'm off then, mom." Tsubasa replied as he made sure his Duel Disk was secured then left his home, a two-story house that was situated in a relatively nice neighborhood. He took in a whiff of fresh air and smiled, "Okay, new city and new Duelists! Let's go!"
"I'm totally lost…" Tsubasa groaned.
For nearly an hour, he had been walking aimlessly within Maiami City. He had been lost in thought over the whole setting, looking at the buildings with awe and amazement then realized he had gotten lost. Now he was hopelessly on his own without any way to tell where he could possibly be.
"Can this get any worse?" He mumbled to himself.
"Hey, leave me alone, you jerks!" A young feminine voice shouted.
"Come on, pretty thing like you shouldn't be wandering around this place alone, y'know." A gruff masculine voice assured.
"And I had to jinx myself…" Tsubasa groaned. "Okay, I better go help before this gets ugly." He followed the source of the voices to see what the situation was all about. He walked down an alleyway and could hear the voices getting louder before he came to a clearing of rundown warehouse buildings and spotted a peculiar sight.
The first was a girl, who has blue eyes and dark pink mid back-length hair, which she wears tied up in pigtails, clipped down by blue, spherical hair clips. Her hair also features two lighter pink bangs that fall to the side of her face. She wore a sleeveless light-blue and white shirt with a green musical note on the right collar, along with a pink tie, which she wears with a maroon skirt, dark stockings, and pink sneakers. She also wore a bracelet with a pink gem. Her Duel Disk was the latest model with the color being a chalky white with a pink blade.
On the other side were three grimy-looking men. One looked like a stereotypical meathead dressed in the attire of a gang leader with a piercing on his earlobe and a mohawk shaped like a row of spikes. His Duel Disk was black with a green blade. The man to his left had the face of a rat with dirty blonde hair and narrow eyes along with buck teeth, dressed in ratty clothing that looked a size too big for him. The man to the leader's right seemed a lot less threatening save for the wicked sneer on his normal face while dressed in a dirty cowboy outfit.
Seeing as how these thugs were threatening a defenseless girl, Tsubasa quickly interjected, "Hey, it's not nice to pick on girls, you know!" He shouted.
"Huh? Who the hell are you? Buzz off, punk!" The leader of the thugs told the blue-haired boy.
"Sorry, but I don't like it when bullies pick on others!" Tsubasa shouted back. "So you're gonna have to answer to me!"
"Hey, you don't need to help." The pink-haired girl told him. "I can take care of these thugs myself."
"Sorry, but I can't do that. There are few things that get me mad. Bullies is one of them." Tsubasa apologized to the girl before glaring at the trio. "So if you wanna get to her, you gotta go through me the only way we both know how." He brought up his Duel Disk to state his point. "Duel Monsters!"
"Ha! You suggest Duel Monsters with that crappy Duel Disk?" The leader of the thugs laughed mockingly.
"Old and used is a lot more reliable than brand-spanking new." Tsubasa stated. "Besides, you're gonna be in for a rude awakening when I kick your butt with the deck I'm using! And if and when you lose, you're gonna be the talk of town in a really bad way."
"Oh yeah? How about we make things interesting then." The thug snarled. "Winner gets the loser's best card. How about that? Think you got the guts to do it?"
Tsubasa smirked, "I've got guts and more. I'm not going to lose this Duel. Now are you all bark and no bite or are you gonna put your cards where your mouth is?"
"Che… you think you're all hot stuff, but people that talk a big game ain't! So fine! I'll take you on!"I'll Duel you then when I get your best card, I'll rip it in half right in front of you!" The thug snarled, bringing his Duel Disk up.
Tsubasa pulled out his Deck and placed it into his Duel Disk, the auto-shuffler rapidly moving his cards for him as the blade jets out and a rainbow light shimmered beneath the frame. "I'm ready. But before we begin, we should tell each other our names."
"Fine, I'm Goro Mishima!" The thug said.
"Tsubasa Sendou. Now…" The boy grinned after drawing his five cards.
"DUEL!" They shouted in unison.
Tsubasa: 4000
Goro: 4000
"I'll take the first move if you don't mind." Tsubasa told Goro. "Boku no T-an!" He said, examining his hand before he took a card from it. "I summon Royal Paladin - Barcgal in ATK Mode!" Appearing on Tsubasa's Field was a robotic-looking dog colored silver and indigo with a long white mane while holding a dagger in its jaws (4/ATK: 1200/DEF: 200).
"Royal Paladin?" Goro asked, before smirking dangerously upon realization. "Lookie here boys, we got ourselves a Cardfighter." His lackeys all laughed at the blue-haired boy as well as his monster.
"Don't dismiss my monsters just because they came from a different game. They're a lot stronger than you think. I'll prove my point by activating Barcgal's effect! When he's successfully Normal or Special Summoned, I can Special Summon one Royal Paladin - Flogal from my Deck in DEF Mode!" Tsubasa explained as Barcgal's eyes flashed then a card in Tsubasa's Deck popped out which he took then played on his Duel Disk. "Come on out, Flogal!" Appearing beside Barcgal in a flurry of wind was a pink female dog in red armor with pink hair in pigtails (2/ATK: 300/DEF: 800). "I set one card face-down. T-an endo."
"Then it's my turn! Draw!" Goro said, drawing his sixth card. "Heh… get ready, but you're gonna be in for a bad time. I'll start by activating the Field Spell, Colosseum - Cage of the Gladiator Beast!" The setting around both Duelists and their spectators suddenly changed into a massive colosseum used only in ancient Roman Gladiator matches.
"So this is the archetype you play. Gladiator Beasts." Tsubasa said, narrowing his eyes. "It figures a bully would use warriors meant only for one's entertainment."
"Wait til you see this! I summon Gladiator Beast Andal in ATK mode!" Goro said, slapping a card onto the tray. Appearing on the Field against the Royal Paladins was a humanoid one-eyed black bear clad in indigo gladiator gear while wielding two forearm length knuckle dusters (4/ATK: 1900/DEF: 1500).
"That monster is way stronger than his Royal Paladins." The girl said, concerned for the blue-haired teen.
"Now rip Barcgal to pieces!" Goro shouted, pointing at the silver-armored wolf. Andal roared as he charged at the Royal Paladin beast, rearing his right fist back before throwing it forward, slamming it right into Barcgal's muzzle. The armored dog released a pained whine before shattering into yellow particles.
Tsubasa: 3300
Goro: 4000
Tsubasa grimaced, "Sorry, Barcgal…" He said to his fallen monster.
"Hah! Just like that dog: all bark and no bite!" Goro sneered.
Suddenly, Tsubasa leveled a glare at the thug, "You can mock me all you want but don't you dare mock my Royal Paladins." He snarled.
Goro merely huffed, not at all intimidated by the boy's anger, "I'll place two cards face-down and end my turn. Your move, punk."
"Boku no T-an. Draw!" Tsubasa drew his card and looked at it, a grin appearing on his face. "I sacrifice Flogal in order to Advance Summon, Royal Paladin - Knight of the Harp, Tristan!" At his declaration, Flogal is engulfed in blue light and appearing in her place is a young man clad in armor wielding a sword while also carrying a harp in his other hand (5/ATK: 1900/DEF: 800). "Next, I activate a Spell Card from my hand. Rear Guard Call! If I have one monster on my Field with a certain number of Level stars, I can Special Summon two monsters with the same or lower Levels from my Deck. Tristan has five Level Stars, meaning I can Special Summon two Level 5 or below Monsters. The monsters I choose are Royal Paladin - Knight of Silence, Gallatin and Royal Paladin - Little Sage, Marron!" The two cards popped out of Tsubasa's Deck, allowing him to take them and play both monsters on his Duel Disk. Two yellow magic circles appeared on the Field.
On Tristan's left side came a man with wild purple hair, his eyes covered by a red blindfold, and clad in light armor with his attire similar to a samurai while wielding a straight-edge katana sword that was currently sheathed (5/ATK: 2100/DEF: 700).
On Tristain's right side came an androgynous individual with blonde hair and blue eyes which had a pair of red-rimmed glasses sitting on the bridge of their nose. They were dressed in blue-white mage attire along with a cap while carrying a red spellbook in their hand (4/ATK: 1500/DEF: 800).
"I activate Little Sage, Marron's effect! When they're successfully summoned, I can draw two cards from my Deck. I add one to my Hand and return the other card to the bottom of my Deck." Tsubasa said as he drew his two cards, checking which one would help him in the Duel before adding the left card to his Hand and placing the last card to the bottom of his Deck. "Now get ready for my Royal Paladins' assault! Gallatin, attack Andal!" The Knight of Silence released a grunt before charging at the black bear gladiator, taking a firm grasp of his sword to deliver the killing blow.
However, Goro only chuckled. "Heh… you're an idiot, I activate my face-down, Gladiator Beast Charge!"
Tsubasa flinched in shock, "Not good!"
"Yeah, for you, because for every Gladiator Beast on my field, I can destroy a face-up card! Since I only have one, guess who's on the chopping block?" Goro grinned.
Gallatin released a battle cry as he slashed at Andal but the Gladiator Beast suddenly brought up his left arm, blocking the knight's attack with his left forearm knuckle duster. Even though the spectators couldn't see, they could tell that the Royal Paladin was surprised his opponent stopped him. It was the last thing he ever thought when the black bear retaliated with a powerful jab that slammed right into Gallatin's face, sending him flying before he vanished into yellow data particles.
"No, Gallatin!" Tsubasa cried out in shock to his fallen warrior.
"Wanna try again?" Goro goaded the Royal Paladin user.
The blue-haired teen gritted his teeth. He could have Tristan attack and use his special effect but the chances of him getting the card he needed for it to work was against him. Marron wouldn't be able to put up much of a fight either. He'll have to go on defense for now. "I switch Tristan and Marron to DEF Mode then I place one card face-down. T-an endo." He said, reluctantly. Both Royal Paladins crouched on one knee, bringing up their weapons in a form of defense while a card appeared beside the other hidden card.
"That's what I thought. My move!" Goro said, drawing his card. "From my hand, since I have a Gladiator Beast, I Special Summon Test Tiger in ATK mode!" Appearing on Goro's Field beside Andal is a bengal tiger clad in armor as it released a warning growl at Tsubasa and his Royal Paladins (3/ATK: 600/DEF: 300).
"Why would he summon a monster with less ATK?" The pink-haired girl questioned.
Tsubasa frowned, already realizing what was coming next. "Because Test Tiger has a dangerous effect."
"That's right! Using its effect, I can tribute this card to send a Gladiator Beast to my deck, shuffle it, and Special Summon another Gladiator Beast, as if it were Special Summoned by the effect of a Gladiator Beast!" Goro smirked as he continued his play. "So say goodbye to Test Tiger and Andal," Both monsters disappeared then a card jets out from Goro's Deck which the thug takes and plays on his Duel Disk. "And say hello to Gladiator Beast Laquari!" Emerging from a blaze of fire is a humanoid tiger with a dark red mane and burning yellow eyes while clad in orange-red armor while a ring of flames surrounded it (4/ATK: 1800/DEF: 400). "Laquari's effect activates. When he's Special Summoned by the effect of a Gladiator Beast, his ATK becomes 2100." (ATK: 1800-2100)
"Not like that's going to do much. Both my monsters are in DEF unless…" Tsubasa's eyes went wide.
"That's right. I had a plan to deal with DEF monsters. I activate my other face-down card, Stop Defense!" Goro declared, revealing the other face-down to be a Spell Card with an image of a warrior defending but with a big white X on the image.
"Stop Defense?" The girl repeated, confused as to what the card could be.
"A magic card that forces a DEF Mode monster into ATK Mode for one Turn only." Tsubasa explained. "Never thought you'd have a card like that in your Deck."
"Well there's more to come. So now I'll have Marron stand!" Goro sneered with the pun intended as the blonde-haired Spellcaster was forced from their defensive position and got into an attack stance. "Now Laquari attacks Little Sage, Marron." The thug ordered as the tiger gladiator roared before going in for the attack. "Burn that little runt to ash!" Laquari threw out the ring of flame which slammed into Marron's stomach, the Royal Paladin releasing a cry of pain before shattering into particles.
Tsubasa: 2400
Goro: 4000
"Wait, hold on, how come he lost more Life Points?!" The girl asked, confused.
"Heh, you two are so slow on picking that up. Since you didn't notice, I'll tell ya. This Colosseum isn't just for show! Anytime that any of us Special Summon a Monster, a Counter is placed on the Field. And for each Counter, my Gladiator Beasts gain 100 ATK!"
"Which means if I Special Summon any more of my monsters, the Gladiator Beasts only get stronger." Tsubasa said with a grimace.
"I should thank your Gallatin and Marron for that extra 200 ATK." Goro smirked. "Adding to Laquari's own Special Summon, that's another 100 so that's another 300 for a punishing grand total of 2400 ATK." (ATK: 2100-2400)
"And since your Battle Phase is over, you get to Special Summon another Gladiator Beast from your Deck since Laquari battled this Turn." Tsubasa added.
"Bingo and that'll add another Counter to my Colosseum! Take five, Laquari." Goro told the tiger gladiator as it vanished, returning to its card which Goro placed back in his Deck, which shuffled, then a new card popped out. "Now, say hello to one of my strongest fighters in my Deck! Welcome to the Field, Gladiator Beast Augustus!" Rising from the ground is a purple humanoid dragon clad in black-silver armor with red gemstones while wielding a straight-edge sword (8/ATK: 2600/DEF: 1000). "And because Augustus was Special Summoned due to a Gladiator Beast's effect, I can Special Summon a Gladiator Beast from my hand in DEF Mode. However, I have to shuffle it in my Deck once my turn is over. I choose my Gladiator Beast Bestiari!" Appearing beside Augustus is a green humanoid red-crowned amazon bird with mechanical wings and grappling hooks mounted on their shoulders (4/ATK: 1500/DEF: 800). "Now Bestiari's effect activates! Since he was Special Summoned due to a Gladiator Beast's effect, I can target one Spell or Trap card on the Field. And the only other active cards on the Field are your face-downs, Sendou!"
Tsubasa gritted his teeth, hoping that Goro wouldn't destroy the one card he needed to help him win.
"I choose the card on the left!" Goro declared.
Bestiari aimed its grappling hooks at Tsubasa's left face-down card and launched them, skewering the card as it shattered into yellow particles. Tsubasa didn't even flinch when his card was destroyed.
"Since I already did my Battle Phase, I can't attack but the Special Summons I did gave me two more Counters for my Colosseum." Goro smirked. "Augustus gains 500 ATK!" (ATK: 2600-3100)
"Guessing this is where you end your Turn?" Tsubasa questioned.
"You guessed right. I end my Turn. Now I shuffle my Bestiari back into my Deck." Goro said as the bird disappeared and the thug returned the card to the Deck, which shuffled.
"Boku no T-an. Draw!" Tsubasa drew his card and added it to his hand, letting him hold three right now as he took a card from his hand. "Tristan, it's time to retire." He looked at the Knight of the Harp, who nodded in response. "From the halls of the United Sanctuary! The Knight who wields the Sword of Light! Advance Summon! Stand up, my Avatar! Blaster Blade!" He announced, playing his card after Tristan was used as the Tribute. Standing in his place is a young man clad from head to toe in white-navy armor that had a sort of futuristic appearance while wielding a large two-handed white blade as his cool green eyes glared at Augustus (7/ATK: 2500/DEF: 2100).
"B-Blaster Blade?!" One of the lackeys cried out. "H-Hey Boss! T-That's the legendary Blaster Blade!"
"What of it?" Goro frowned at his goon.
"H-He's that legendary cardfighter's relative!"
"Huh? What's that supposed to mean?" Goro rubbed the back of his head in confusion.
"Let me help you with that. I told you my last name was Sendou. Think about it." Tsubasa told the burly man.
The girl behind him suddenly gasped, "You're related to Aichi Sendou!" She exclaimed.
"WHAT?!" Goro gawked.
"That's right. Aichi Sendou is my ancestor." Tsubasa nodded. "Blaster Blade was his partner and now he's mine." Blaster Blade brought up his blade as if agreeing with him.
"P-Pah, so what?! Just because you're related to that old fossil doesn't mean squat!" Goro snapped.
Tsubasa smirked, "Actually, it does because if you know about Blaster Blade from Vanguard then you must know about his unique ability."
Goro's eyes suddenly shrunk in fear, "You don't mean-"
"Blaster Blade's special effect activates! When he's successfully summoned to the Field, I can select one Monster on your Field and send it to the Graveyard." Tsubasa interjected as Blaster Blade aimed his sword at the only Monster that Goro controlled. "And the only Monster you have is Gladiator Beast Augustus. Burst Buster!"
Blaster Blade released a blast of blue energy that struck Augustus, who released a pained roar before vanishing into purple particles.
"Tch… you still have a long way before you can try to OTK me!" Goro shouted.
"That's what I intend to do."
"What?!"
"Huh?!" The girl got out surprised.
"You see, I had to get that card out of the way so that I could play this one on my Field. The Spell Card, Double Summon! This card allows me to perform another Normal Summon." Tsubasa said after playing the magic card. "Then I play the last card in my hand. I summon Royal Paladin - High Dog Breeder, Akane!" Emerging beside Blaster Blade is a young woman with long red hair and brown eyes while dressed in a white-blue outfit that resembled a school uniform but with a military esthetic while she wielded a whip (4/ATK: 1500/DEF: 1200).
"She's pretty…" The girl murmured with a slight blush on her face.
Tsubasa grinned when he noticed how much Akane liked the comment, "Hey, now, don't think she's just another pretty face. She's got a pretty handy ability. Akane, if you would?"
Akane nodded with a wink as she cracked her whip and brought two fingers up to her lips then released a loud whistle.
"When Akane is Normal or Special Summoned, she lets me Special Summon one Beast-Type "Royal Paladin" from my Deck in DEF Mode." Tsubasa explained as a card popped out of his Deck, which he took. "And the card I'm gonna summon is the ever faithful Royal Paladin - Wingal!" Appearing beside Akane is a blue-white furred dog with wings instead of ears, a mane of reddish-pink hair, and a red scarf (4/ATK: 1200/DEF: 800). "Wingal's effect activates. Since he's face-up, a Royal Paladin Monster with Blaster in their name gets a 1000 ATK power boost! And guess who gets that power boost!"
Royal Paladin - Blaster Blade (7/ATK: 2500-3500/DEF: 2100)
"No way… you…" Goro looked dumbfounded.
"This is game over for you." Tsubasa stated. "Battle! High Dog Breeder, Akane! Blaster Blade! Direct Attack the player!"
Akane was the first to attack, lashing out with her whip which smacked Goro right in the butt as he yelped in pain while holding his aching rear.
"Hey!" He shouted.
Blaster Blade was the last as he charged at Goro with a battle cry then swung his sword down, hitting Goro in his chest as he cried out in pain.
Tsubasa: 2400
Goro: 0
WINNER: Tsubasa
The Solid Vision disappeared as Goro stood there flabbergasted and utterly in shock. It didn't make any sense to him! He lost to a bunch of obscure cards that were clinging by a thread! "No way…! I lost?!"
"Remember our deal?" Tsubasa pointed out. "I get your best card. Then again, I'll just settle for you leaving and never bothering this girl again."
Goro growled at the boy then gestured at him, "Don't think that I'll forget about this! I'll Duel you again and I'll win next time!"
Tsubasa smiled, "That's cool. I look forward to it."
"Tch, lousy Royal Pain in the ass… c'mon, let's get out of here." Goro clicked his teeth before grumbling as he walked off. His lackeys looked at each other before following him.
"Geez, they're the ones that's a pain in the butt…" Tsubasa sighed, before turning to the girl. "You okay?"
"Uh, yeah. Thanks for the help. Your name's Tsubasa Sendou, right? Is it really true? Are you related to Aichi Sendou?" The pink-haired girl asked.
"Yeah. It's true." Tsubasa nodded, before looking up at the sky. "Though nowadays people forget about what he and Team Q4 did…"
"Sorry to hear about that. I guess since that Vanguard game lost its popularity, not a lot of people would care to remember." The girl said before gasping, "Oh right, I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Yuzu Hiiragi."
"Nice to meet you, Yuzu. By the way, why were those guys harassing you?" Tsubasa asked.
"Oh, I was cutting through here to get to the You Show Duel School but then those losers stopped me." Yuzu answered.
"Duel School?" Tsubasa repeated in confusion.
"Oh right. There are these special schools all over Maiami City that teaches different styles of dueling and the one I'm going to specializes in Entertainment Duels."
"Like… a circus?" Tsubasa blinked
"Uh, I guess you could say that. But it's really a lot of fun." Yuzu told him. "You know, you should come over. The kids there would be amazed to see a Duel Monsters Deck composed of Vanguard cards."
"Huh, I never thought of going to a Duel School before." Tsubasa thought about it before smiling. "Alright, I'll come over but, uh, I don't know where it is."
"Huh?"
"I recently moved here not too long ago, and… I tend to get lost sometimes." Tsubasa scratched the back of his head nervously. "So uh… mind leading the way?"
Yuzu giggled, "Sure, just don't fall behind." She said with a grin. And with that, she took the lead with Tsubasa following. This might be a good day all things considered.
"You are sure of this?"
"Yes sir, we've located the Royal Paladins."
Within a darkened chamber, a pair of dark eyes hidden behind a pair of glasses looked at a screen which showcased images of the Royal Paladin cards that were played.
"So, the Tatsunagi Foundation's dark secret finally rears its head. Who is the Duelist that holds them?" The owner of the glasses inquired.
"They go by the name of Tsubasa Sendou."
The dark eyes widened. "Sendou… hmhmhmhmhmhm… it seems the hands of fate are turning…" The voice spoke as they crossed their fingers together. "I want all eyes on this Tsubasa Sendou. Those cards they possess are powerful. I wanna know how powerful."
A/N: And that's the end of the chapter. Little short but I hope you all enjoyed it as well as the Duel.
In any case, the Royal Paladins have come to play and someone wants to know all about them. But who exactly could it be? We shall see in the future.
Review and comment on this chapter. Love it, hate it, but just know that you read it.
Peace out, everyone!
