Rescue Me
::Prologue: The Party::
Happily walking down the sidewalk, Usagi smiled as she looked down at the slip of paper that had a handwritten address. Pressing the slip of paper against her chest as if it were the most precious thing she possessed, she smiled over at her best friend before speaking. "I can't believe we're going to a high school party." She excitedly squealed, unable to contain her excitement as they took their usual route home from school.
"I know! What are we going to wear?" Naru excitedly responded as she thought of all the clothing options in her closet. "We're going to a high school party, Usagi-chan! We need to make sure we look fabulous tonight." She added in her excitement, watching her friend eagerly nod in agreement. "You need to look hot, we both do." She insisted, then gasped as she thought of an idea. "Come over tonight, we'll help each other get ready." She suggested, taking her friend's hands into hers with excitement, as she gave her best friend the most pitiful pleading look she could conceive. "Please, it will be so much fun!" She urged.
"I don't know if I can, Naru." Usagi frowned, remembering she was supposed to help her mother with some chores that evening.
"The party is tonight, Usagi. You're going to have to sneak out if you're going." Naru sternly stated. "Just tell your mom we have a project that we need to work on this weekend. See if your mom will let you spend the night." She pleaded.
"What about your mother?" Usagi worriedly asked.
"Don't worry about mama, she's going to be out of town this weekend with my oba-san (aunt)." Naru replied, mischievously smiling.
"I feel bad lying to my parents though." Usagi muttered, nervously fidgeting with the slip of paper in her hands.
"Will your mama and papa let you go to this party if you ask?" Naru bluntly asked, watching her friend frown before shaking her head.
"No." Usagi pouted as she softly sighed.
"What are you two up to? You look awfully excited about something." A masculine voice casually asked, causing the two girls to squeal out in shock.
"Mamoru-baka!" Usagi snapped, immediately turning and glaring up at the dark-haired high schooler. "What are you doing eavesdropping on us, baka!?" She accused watching him raise his brow and smirk before he wryly spoke.
"Trust me Odango, I have better things to do than listen to middle school girls gossip." Mamoru retored while cockily arching his brow at the blonde. Seeing the blonde anger at his comment, he tried to hide his amused smile knowing how cute she looked when he was able to get the best of her. Clearing his throat to hide the smile, he quickly stepped between the two as he continued his way down the sidewalk. "Later, Odango-atama!" He causually stated in his departure, unable to resist one final glance back at the boisterous blonde.
"My name is Tsukino Usagi! Not Odango-atama!" Usagi shouted, her face turning a bright shade of pink as she shouted at her nemesis as he walked away. Noticing him briefly glance back with a cocky grin and a wave of his hand, she huffed in her frustration, arms crossing her arms across her chest. Turning her attention back towards Naru, she noticed the redhead was trying to contain her smile. "What?" She abruptly demanded.
"You like him, don't you?" Naru teased with a giggle.
"What?! I do not!" Usagi incredulously shrieked. "I- I would never be interested in that- that baka!"
"Alright Usagi, if you say so." Naru casually replied, trying to hide her smile, knowing the two had chemistry but were too oblivious of the feelings they had for one another due to their constant bickering. "I'll see you tonight, try not to be late." She teased, as she crossed the street going the direction of her home. "Bye Usagi-chan!"
"Bye Naru-chan!" Usagi called out as she waved to her friend.
(Later That Night)
"Why are we here?" Mamoru grumpily muttered as he allowed his best friend to lead the way through the overcrowded house where high schoolers were using the living room and any free space to dance to the overbearingly loud music blasting. Recognizing some of the teens from the arcade, he abruptly looked over at his friend in surprise. "Are those middle schoolers?" He demanded.
"Yes." Motoki stated, glancing at his friend. "You see why I wanted to come, I wanted to keep an eye out in case-" He stated, abruptly turning his head at the sound of a familiar laugh. "Is that-"
"Odango?!" Mamoru abruptly asked, watching the blonde squeeze her way through the tight group of high schoolers. Looking her over, he blushed slightly at how much older she looked wearing a short black pleated mini skirt with a baby pink low-cut blouse. Her long golden hair was down from her signature buns, spilling around her in golden waves, giving her a more mature appearance. Seeing she was wearing black kitten heels, he watched her light up when spotting someone. Following her every movement with his gaze, he watched her soon meet up with Naru. "This is what they were so excited about earlier." He muttered.
"What?" Motoki asked, abruptly looking at his friend.
"Nothing." Mamoru quickly stated, then frowned, noticing he'd lost sight of the blonde and her friend as he turned his gaze back to where they had just been standing and chatting. "Where did they go?"
"They're fine, let them have some fun." Motoki chuckled, resting his hand on his friend's shoulder as he ushered him forwards once more. "We were their age, Mamoru-chan, when I dragged you to one of these." He reminded his friend, smiling at the memory.
"I know, and do you remember how many close calls we've had." Mamoru retorted, hearing his friend chuckle more at the comment. Glancing back to where Usagi had been standing moments before, he frowned slightly, wanting to go in search of the exuberant blonde. 'We can take care of ourselves, but those two are so naive.' He worriedly thought.
"This party is so damn boring, Kazan-chan." A blonde stated, standing at the top of the staircase looking down at all the girls dancing. "Have you picked one yet?" He grumbled in his boredom.
"Not yet, Ren-chan." Kazan sneered, looking down at the crowd once more, then smiled as he laid his eyes on a petite blonde following a redhead. "Her." He said with a nod of his head.
"The redhead?" Ren asked, raising his brow with interest.
"No, you baka, the blonde." Kazan snapped with irritation, turning his gaze back down to the blonde once more, lust shining in his green eyes "Did you bring it?"
"Of course I brought it." Ren retorted, removing a small baggie from his pocket.
"Go, I'll distract the other one If I need to." Kazan ordered, watching Ren nod as he made his way down the stairs calm and collected. "She'll do just fine." He muttered, wickedly smiling.
Making his way down the stairs, Ren smirked as he neared the blonde and her friend who were engrossed in laughing and talking. Using the opportunity, he adjusted his step making it look as if he avoided someone in the overcrowded room, knocking into the blonde her cup slipping from her hands.
"Hey!" Usagi cried out in shock, glaring up at the blonde.
"Excuse me, I was avoiding someone." Ren apologized, lifting the cup from the floor. "Allow me to make it up to you and get you another." He requested, disappearing into the crowds going the direction of the kitchen.
"He's so cute." Naru gushed, looking over at her friend to see she was pouting at the wet spot on her blouse. "It's fine, Usagi-chan, it will dry." She assured her friend with a giggle.
Watching the blonde return moments later with a new drink, Usagi shyly smiled up at the blonde for the kind gesture. "Than-" She started to say, then frowned as the blonde abruptly turned and disappeared into the crowd once again before she could thank him. "I didn't get to thank him." She muttered, sighing in exasperation.
"Look at that!" Naru excitedly beamed, taking notice of a drinking game happening in the game room. "Let's go watch." She urged motioning her friend to follow.
Taking a drink of the bitter liquid as she followed behind her friend, Usagi scrunched her nose as she looked down at the cup of alcohol. 'This is gross, why does it taste different than my last one?' She thought knowing how much she wanted to abandon the bitter drink. 'I can't refuse this or Naru will tease me for not drinking.' She thought frowning as she forced herself to take another drink.
(Twenty Minutes Later)
Feeling the room beginning to spin, Usagi frowned as she rested her hand against her head as she felt her stomach beginning to tightly twist and churn. "I don't feel so good, Naru." She muttered, watching her friend worriedly look over at her.
"Are you going to be sick?" Naru worriedly asked, watching her friend miserably look over at her, silently nodding. Noticing how pale her friend looked, she quickly glanced around wondering where the bathroom was. "Let's go outside for some fresh air." She suggested instead, as they began navigating through the crowds once again.
Noticing her friend beginning to stumble no longer taking balanced steps, Naru frowned, suspecting something was wrong. "Are you going to be alright?" She worriedly asked, quickly wrapping her arm around her friend's waist to help steady her. "We're almost to the door, please don't puke in here." She begged as she opened the door for her friend.
Stepping outside into the cool night air, Naru watched her friend immediately scramble from the porch, dropping to her knees near a shrub, emptying the contents of her stomach.
Feeling her own stomach churn at the sight, Naru gently rested her hand against her friend's shoulder as she spoke. "I'll be back, Usagi-chan. I'm going to go find you a cool cloth or something to put on your face." She assured her friend, watching Usagi miserably nod and wave her away as she threw up once more.
"Thank you, Naru-chan." Usagi miserably muttered, raising her head to see her friend was already gone. Shakily exhaling, she tightly wrapped an arm around her queasy stomach. "I want to go home." She miserably muttered, wishing she had not agreed to go to the party. Tensing as she heard voices approaching, she blushed in embarrassment as she heard some snickering sound behind her.
"Can't hold your liquor blondie?" One of the high schoolers asked, causing his friends to laugh as they entered the house, the loud music briefly escaping into the night air, before being muffled by the door closing moments later.
Blinking her tears back, Usagi groaned out as she felt another wave of nausea hit as she leaned forwards, retching once more. 'This is so embarrassing.' She miserably thought, stray tears streaking her cheeks. 'I just want to go home and sleep this off!'
Lifting his bottle of water to his lips, Mamoru chuckled as he watched Motoki and Reika dancing amongst the crowded living room. Glancing around for Usagi, he caught sight of Naru weaving through the crowds without the blonde. 'Where's Odango?' He curiously thought, briefly looking across the room.
Frowning when he didn't see Usagi, he called out to the redhead watching Naru turn and look at him with relief. 'Is something wrong?' He worriedly thought, snapping from his thoughts as the middle schooler reached him. "Where's Odango?" He casually asked, not wanting to give away that he was worried for the younger girl.
"Outside getting some fresh air." Naru responded, frowning as she blushed to look up at the high schooler embarrassed about their predicament. "I think she's had too much to drink, she's -"
"Here." Mamoru interrupted, immediately understanding what the girl was struggling to admit to him. "Follow me, Naru-san." He instructed as he slid off the counter, motioning the younger red-haired teen to follow. Stopping at the counter closest to the sink, he began to rummage through the drawers smiling when finding a dishcloth. Running it under some cool water, he squeezed the excess water out before handing Naru the cool cloth. "If you need a ride home later, let me know. I don't mind giving you two a lift." He offered, watching Naru give him a bright smile before she spoke.
"Thank you, Mamoru-san. I'll see how Usagi-chan is feeling then, we'll get back with you." Naru happily stated, turning and leaving the kitchen to go back to her friend.
Watching Naru soon disappear into the crowds once more, Mamoru debated with himself wondering if he should go check on the blonde. 'No, it will just embarrass her, if I see her like that.' His mind urged, not wanting to risk pushing her away. Deciding to wait until the two came back into the house, he knew he could 'bump into them' and check on the blonde then. 'I can't believe she's drunk!' He thought, a lopsided grin forming as he chuckled with amusement.
Feeling her stomach painfully twist, Usagi tightly shut her eyes to the pain, stray tears streaking her cheeks as she remained hunched over from the nauseating pain. "I feel so dizzy." She groggily muttered, trying to fight the powerful urge to close her eyes and sleep. Unaware of a presence behind her, she felt her cry of shock muffled as a hand tightly clamped over her mouth. Too weak to struggle, she felt a pair of strong arms lift her, dragging her away from the front of the house, around to the side. Grunting out in pain as she was roughly shoved onto the ground, she cried out from a sharp, painful blow to the back of her head, darkness consuming her as she slumped to the ground.
Tucking the tire iron under his arm, Kazan wickedly chuckled as he kneeled and lifted the unconscious blonde into his arms. Noticing Ren was still waiting for him in the car, he cautiously glanced around to make sure no one was outside making his way towards the dark blue sports car. Nearing his car, he watched Ren quickly get out and open the back passenger door.
"Did you have any trouble?" Ren asked while getting out of the car, preparing to open the back passenger seat.
"No, I want the bitch in the trunk, I don't want her getting blood on my seats." Kazan snapped, not noticing his friend look at him with surprise.
"B-blood?" Ren stammered, going to the back of the car to pop the trunk for his friend. Grimacing as Kazan roughly placed the unconscious blonde into the trunk, he noticed the back of the blonde's hair was beginning to stain red. "How hard did you hit her man?" He angrily demanded. "I told you the stuff was going to knock her out, you just needed to be patient and wait."
"It doesn't matter, we're going to get rid of the bitch as soon as we're done anyway." Kazan shrugged, glancing over at his friend with an amused smile. Tossing the tire iron into the trunk, he shut the trunk's door, motioning his friend back towards the car. "Get into the car, we need to get out of here." He demanded, nervously glancing around to ensure they were not seen.
Pulling the door shut as he slid into the driver's side, Rend brought his gaze up glancing into the rearview mirror. Noticing the red-haired middle schooler return and glance around for her friend, he smirked as he started the ignition. 'She's mine now, sweetheart.' He wickedly thought as he quickly drove away to their destination.
Walking through the crowded house, Mamoru softly sighed wanting to escape the overbearingly loud music. Stepping outside to get some fresh air, he looked down hearing the sound of soft sniffles. Noticing Naru sitting on the porch steps, he watched her abruptly wipe her tears away as she turned her embarrassed gaze from him. "Naru-san? What's wrong?" He worriedly asked, wondering if she and Usagi had an argument.
"I can't-" Naru tearfully spoke, pausing as her voice wavered. "I can't find Usagi-chan anywhere. I've looked everywhere, she's gone, Mamoru-san." Wiping her tears away once more with the back of her hand, she tearfully looked up as Mamoru silently knelt beside her, his hand resting gently against her shoulder. Blushing at how close they were, she could see why her friend was attracted to the older teen, as she looked into his worried gaze.
"Did you check upstairs?" Mamoru asked, watching her blush more as she silently nodded, her voice coming out a nervous squeak as she spoke.
"Yes, most of the rooms were being 'used'." Naru explained, watching him blush before nervously chuckling.
"Right, so we know she's not upstairs." Mamoru confirmed, thinking for a moment. "Have you checked everywhere outside?" He asked, smiling with amusement at the thought of the blonde passed out drunk. 'I can give her a hard time about this on Monday.' He thought, snapping from his thoughts as Naru tearfully spoke.
"Yes." Naru tearfully sniffled, nodding her head. "I've looked everywhere, Mamoru-san, she's not here." She insisted, worry evident in her voice.
"Did you two come here with someone else? Could she have gotten a ride home from another friend?" Mamoru suggested, his unease growing as Naru insistently shook her head before speaking.
"No." Naru tearfully responded, vigorously shaking her head. "We walked here, it's not that far from where I live." She explained, before bursting out into more tears. "I'm going to get into so much trouble!" She wailed. "I wasn't supposed to be here, Mamoru-san, neither of us was! Usagi-chan lied to her mama and told her we were working on a project for school! This is all my fault!" She cried out, lunging forward and clinging to the high schooler as she cried against his chest. "I'm so worried about her." She whimpered through her tears.
"I came here with Motoki and his girlfriend." Mamoru explained to the younger teen, watching her raise her tear-filled gaze up to meet his worried gaze. "I'll help you find Od- Usagi-san, alright?" He assured the girl, his brows rising in concern as the redhead began to sway slightly.
"Naru-san?" He worriedly asked, watching in shock as the middle schooler suddenly grew limp, collapsing against his chest, face first. "Naru-san!" He cried out in shock. "Can you hear me?" He worriedly asked, soon relaxing when noticing she had passed out. 'She must have had too much to drink.' He thought, shaking his head in exasperation, gently resting the girl against the wall so he could return into the house to go in search of Motoki and Reika for help in locating the missing blonde next. "I need to get them home." He worriedly muttered, suspecting Usagi was in the same state as Naru, drunkenly passed out somewhere in the house.
(Forty-Five Minutes Later)
"She's not here." Motoki worriedly stated as he stepped out onto the porch where Reika was sitting with Naru who was still passed out. "I've been through that house four times and in every room, she's not here."
"Where else could she be though?" Reika insisted, watching her boyfriend kneel beside her, worriedly looking at Naru. "She still hasn't woken, Toki-chan." She worriedly sighed, brushing some strands of hair back from the girl's face.
"Something isn't right?" Motoki muttered, glancing up when he saw headlights approaching, Mamoru's car soon parking. "Any luck" He called out, as soon as his friend was close enough to respond.
"No, I've driven around the entire block twice, I even went to the Osaka Jewelry Store to see if she made her way back there." Mamoru responded, his face conveying his worry. "I didn't see her anywhere, Motoki-chan." He stated, his stomach nervously twisting at the endless scenarios going through his thoughts. "She wouldn't have left with someone else, would she?" He asked, hoping the blonde wasn't naive enough to do something so foolish.
"No, that's not like Usagi-chan." Motoki worriedly stated, turning his concerned gaze towards Naru once more. "Something doesn't feel right, Mamoru-chan, she should have already woken up."
"Could someone have slipped something into the drinks?" Reika worriedly asked, her eyes widening in alarm at the thought. "I've had two drinks tonight."
"Let's call the police." Mamoru suggested reaching into his pocket for his phone. "No one will know it was us." He stated, watching his two friends nod in agreement to the plan. "I'd feel better knowing we overlooked Usagi-san once everyone begins to scatter from the police." He explained as he dialed the number on his phone.
Watching his friend file a noise complaint, Motoki glanced over at his girlfriend, watching her glance back at him with a knowing smile. 'I wish Mamoru-chan would just admit he has feelings for Usagi-chan already.' He thought with frustration, knowing how deeply his best friend cared for the cheerful blonde that frequented the arcade.
Placing his phone back into his pocket, Mamoru nervously chuckled as he looked over at his two friends. "They should be here in ten to fifteen minutes." He warned the couple. "You two go ahead and leave, I'll stay here with Naru-san and Usagi-chan, once I can find her."
"No, we'll stay here with Naru-san." Reika insisted with a smile. "We came here together, we'll take the fall together." She said with an amused giggle.
::CREAK::
Feeling a chill run up his spine, as the door creaked open, Ren shivered from the creepy, unnerving vibes the abandoned hospital gave off as they began their descent down a set of wooden stairs leading to the basement.
Cringing under each moan of protest the wooden stairs would give against their weight, he nervously exhaled wanting to turn and leave and wait until daylight before encroaching the basement. "Fuck, this damn place gives me the creeps." He snapped, his stomach twisting and heart racing from his overactive imagination, the deeper they went into the dark basement. "Why don't we just use one of the upper floors, I don't like it down here." He grumbled.
"Quit being such a pussy." Kazan sneered, sighing as he adjusted the blonde in his arms. "Hurry up, we need to get her ready before she wakes."
"Alright, damn." Ren muttered as he hurried his pace down the old creaky wooden stairs. Shining the light on the old metal hospital bed, he moved the light over to the center of the room, smiling with relief when spotting all the supplies were still sitting where they left it nearly a week prior to their last visit.
"Hold on." Ren instructed, lifting the battery-operated lantern from the bed where he'd last left it wanting to have quick access to light. Clicking the switch and easing as the room was illuminated, he noticed Kai was about to lie the unconscious blonde onto the mildew-covered mattress. "Wait man, I don't want to catch something that might be on these mattresses." He cringed in disgust, quickly walking over and grabbing a blanket from their pile of goods. Draping the blanket over the aged mattress, he watched Kazan roughly drop the blonde onto the bed. "Is this bed going to support our wei-"
"It's going to be fine, fuck, will you stop this worrying over everything?" Kazan snapped as he walked over to the pile of supplies removing a package of zip ties. Going back to where the blonde was lying on the bed, he grabbed her wrist tightly securing her wrist to the first metal-framed bedpost, repeating the same process with her other wrist. "Damn, she's quite the catch." He huskily spoke, lustfully smiling as he ran his hand up her smooth thigh, her skirt raising and exposing more skin. "I can't wait to make this bitch scream." He wickedly chuckled, raising his hand from her smooth skin and lifting the package of zip ties, removing a couple more. Adding one more zip tie to each of her bound wrists as an extra precaution, he turned and walked towards their box of supplies tossing the package back into the box.
Looking down into the box, Kazan smirked with amusement as he lifted a ball gag from the box, ripping the package open as he walked back towards the unconscious blonde. Forcing her mouth open once he reached the bed, he roughly placed the ball in her mouth as he secured the strap. "That should help muffle her screams." He said, chuckling as he glanced over at his nervous friend. "Alright, we'll come back in the morning." He instructed, hearing a relieved sigh from Ren before his friend walked forwards.
"Hold on." Ren stated, pausing his step, turning, and going back to where the blonde lay bound and gagged. Reaching into his back pocket, he removed the blindfold he'd tucked into his pocket while Kazan had been busy binding her wrists.
Watching Ren blindfold the blonde, Kazan smirked knowing his friend was still nervous about going forward with the plan. "It doesn't matter if she sees us." He snapped. "We're getting rid of the bitch after we have our fun." He reminded his friend with an amused chuckle. "Let her see us, who gives a fuck."
"It will make it easier." Ren argued, turning his head to glance at his friend. "She won't be able to fight back as easily if we take away her sight." He explained, watching his friend nod with agreement and understanding to the use of a blindfold.
Watching the paramedics place the stretcher into the ambulance, Reika tearfully looked over at Motoki and Mamoru who were still speaking with the police officer who'd responded to the noise complaint. "Wait?" She requested, watching the paramedic look up at her. "Can I ride with you?" She worriedly asked, watching the paramedic turn and look at her. "I don't want Naru-san to wake alone at the hospital." She explained.
"Yes, that's fine." The paramedic stated, waving the older teen forwards. "We need to leave now."
Glancing back at her boyfriend, she motioned to the ambulance, watching Motoki silently nod, signaling his acknowledgment of her leaving with Naru.
"We'll be there soon, Reika-chan." Motoki called out watching his girlfriend nod as she stepped into the ambulance, the doors abruptly closing behind her before the vehicle sped away.
"Do you remember what she was wearing?" The officer asked, looking at both of the older teens standing before him, mindful of their body language when they would respond. Watching the darker-haired teen nod and respond he turned his full attention on him. 'This one seems to know the most information about the missing teen?' He suspiciously thought.
"She was wearing a black skirt and light pink blouse." Mamoru responded. "She had her hair down tonight, she normally wears it up in buns and pigtails." He said, not noticing the brief smile from Motoki.
"Eye color?" The officer asked, as soon as he wrote the description down. "Also hair color and any distinguishing marks you may no of, such as birthmarks, freckles, moles."
"She has blue eyes and golden blonde hair." Mamoru responded, watching the officer nod as he took down the notes. Feeling his stomach clench as his worry grew more with each passing moment, he nervously exhaled running his hands through his unruly hair from his consistent nervous habit. "We're wasting time, we need to be looking for her." He insisted, gaining an annoyed look from the officer as he looked up from his notes and spoke.
"Do you know if Tsukino-san was with anyone else besides her friend, Osaka-san?" The officer asked, watching the two young men exchange glances and shake their heads.
"I don't think so." Motoki said, rubbing the back of his head as he shrugged unsure.
"They weren't supposed to be here, Naru-san told me they lied to Usagi's parents about working on some school project so they could come here tonight." Mamoru explained, watching the officer nod and write the information down.
"Alright, final question. Do either of you know where the Tsukino residence is? I need to confirm she didn't somehow make her way home before I file the report." The officer explained, watching the blonde nod.
"I know where the Tsukino residence is, but I don't know the address." Motoki responded, feeling Mamoru's gaze bore into him. "I've given her a ride home a few times in the past when it was raining." He explained, glancing over at his best friend to a brief flash of jealousy in Mamoru's gaze.
"Alright, I'll have you two lead the way and I'll follow in my patrol car. You're both free to go once we reach the residence." The officer instructed, watching the two teens nod. "Let's go."
Reaching into his pocket for his car keys, Mamoru nervously exhaled hoping Usagi had managed to find her way home. 'Where are you, Odango?' He worriedly thought, looking up at the full moon that illuminated the late-night sky.
(Later at the Tsukino Residence)
::DING DONG::
Frowning as he adjusted his robe, Kenji tiredly exhaled as he descended the stairs making his way towards the front door, wondering who would be visiting them in the middle of the night. "What time is it?" He grumbled knowing it was well past midnight. Tiredly yawning, he stopped and turned when hearing his son's bedroom door open.
"Papa?" Shingo tiredly asked from the top of the stairs. "What's going on?"
"Go back to bed son, I'm not sure who it is." Kenji instructed, watching his son tiredly nod before turning to return to his bedroom.
::KNOCK KNOCK::
"Who the hell is here?" Kenji muttered in his irritation as he walked towards the door once more, prepared to give whoever was behind the door a piece of his mind.
Passing his mother, Shingo watched her smile at him as she passed him, securing her robe as she walked towards the stairs. "Mama?"
"It's alright, go back to bed sweetie." Ikuko urged, watching her son from and nod before walking in the direction of his room with a slight pout. Descending the stairs, she noticed her husband reach for the light switch, turning on the porch light.
Turning on the porch light before opening the front door, Kenji felt his irritation turn to surprise when noticing a police officer standing on the porch "Can I help you, officer?" He asked, confusion laced in his voice.
"Is this the Tsukino residence?" The Officer politely asked, watching the dark-haired man nod as he adjusted his glasses.
"Yes sir, can I ask what this is about?" Kenji inquired, turning his head when feeling a hand on his arm.
"Kenji, what's going on?" Ikuko worriedly asked, looking at the officer standing on their porch with confusion.
"I'm not sure." Kenji replied, wrapping his arm around his wife's waist drawing her closer into his embrace as she stood next to him.
"I'm Officer Nakasone." The officer introduced, before continuing. "Do you have a daughter, Tsukino Usagi?" He asked, watching the couple immediately grow worried.
"What happened? Is she alright?" Ikuko worriedly asked, her stomach nervously twisting with worry for her eldest child.
"Are either of you aware she was attending a party?" Officer Nakasone inquired, watching the mother cover her mouth, a gasp of surprise escaping lips while the father immediately angered at the question.
"Party?" Kenji angrily demanded. "She was supposed to be at a friend's house tonight working on a school project."
"Osaka Naru?" Officer Nakasone confirmed, watching the couple immediately nod at the mention of the other teen's name.
"What's going on? What are you not telling us?" Ikuko demanded, tears shining in her eyes. "Where's my baby? Where's Usagi?"
"Your daughter was reported missing by some friends when they couldn't find her after our arrival from a noise complaint follow-up." Officer Nakasone grimly explained, seeing the pain in the couple's face as they processed the information he was giving them. "Does she have a boyfriend, someone close she may ha-"
"Missing?!" Ikuko interrupted, her heart dropping in her chest as she felt her world crash around her the more she thought of the officer's words. "No, this has to be a mistake." She insisted, tears welling in her eyes as she felt her stomach nauseatingly twist.
"She doesn't have a boyfriend." Kenji insisted, worriedly glancing at his wife as he could feel her shaking in his arms, tears streaking her cheeks in her worry. "Please, come in, I think it's best if she sits." He insisted as he motioned for the officer to enter the house as he led his wife towards the kitchen to sit.
(:: One Hour Later:Hospital::)
"Do you think Naru's going to be alright?" Reika worriedly asked, her voice wavering through her tears. " Glancing over towards the nurse's station from where they waited in the waiting room, she noticed a doctor quietly standing at the nurse's station going over some reports with the charge nurse.
"I hope so." Motoki responded softly, turning his worried gaze towards Mamoru who was silently sitting a few chairs away from them, a taut frown on his face, still deeply lost in his thoughts. "Mamoru-chan?" He carefully asked, watching his friend snap from his thoughts turning his tormented gaze towards him. "What is it?" He urged, never seeing his friend look so distressed.
"Somethings not right, Motoki-chan." Mamoru snapped, unable to shake the sinking feeling in the pit of his stomach. "We both know Odango well enough, drunk or not, she wouldn't have left without finding and telling Naru-san."
"He's right, Toki-chan." Reika gently responded, resting her head on her boyfriend's shoulder with a worried sigh. "I may not know Usagi-chan as well as you two, but she doesn't seem the type to just leave on the spot and cause others to worry."
"That's because she wouldn't." Mamoru snapped, running a hand through his hair in frustration once more, surprised he wasn't bald as many times he'd run his hand through his hair in his worry and frustration during the night. 'I should be out there looking for her.' He worriedly thought, wanting to search the city until he found the missing blonde instead of sitting at the hospital. 'Where are you Odango?'
Snapping from his thoughts as he heard hurried footsteps, Mamoru glanced up as he and the others quietly watched two women with red hair hurrying towards the nurse's station.
"That's Naru's mother." Motoki stated to Reika as he silently watched the charge nurse and doctor give the two women an update of Naru's condition. Watching an officer soon approach the woman, he watched as the middle-aged man began to explain the situation, Naru's mother soon bursting into tears as the other woman wrapped an arm around Ms. Osaka's shoulder offering her comfort and support in her distress.
"What do you think they said?" Reika quietly asked, growing more worried by the woman's reaction to what the officer had told her.
"I don't know." Motoki softly replied with a grim shake of his head. 'Something must be wrong.' He worriedly thought, his stomach nervously twisting as he thought of Usagi who was still missing. 'Where are you Usagi? Are you safe?' He guiltily thought, wishing he had listened to Mamoru's concern at the party and made the two younger teens leave the moment they saw them. 'I'll never forgive myself if anything happens to her.'
(Tsukino Residence)
"Do you know of anyone that would want to hurt your daughter?" Officer Nakasone calmly asked, briefly glancing down at the photo of the smiling blonde.
"No, well, there's a girl at her school, but it's always been harmless teasing, nothing physical." Ikuko tearfully explained, watching the officer nod while taking a note. Turning her tearful gaze towards the photograph she'd given the officer, she burst out into fresh tears. "My baby...th-this can't be hap-happening." She woefully stated through her tears, her form shaking as she tried to muffle her crying.
Deciding to give the mother a break, the officer turned his attention towards the pre-teen sitting at the table, unshed tears shining in his eyes. "Shingo-san, is there anything that you know or would like to share? Any small details could give us an idea of where to begin searching for your sister?" Officer Nakasone asked, watching the boy silently shake his head before speaking.
"No, we don't really talk about stuff that's going on with school since we don't go to the same school." Shingo quietly explained, wishing he had pried more into his sister's personal life so he could help the officer locate his missing sister. 'Where are you onee-chan?' He worriedly thought, glancing over at his worried father and distraught mother.
"It's too soon to file a missing person report, since there is no real evidence of a threat or any kind of imminent danger towards your daughter." Officer Nakasone calmly explained. "If she has not returned home, or made any contact with you within the next eight hours then we will go forward with the missing person's report."
Unable to contain her emotions, Ikuko abruptly burst into more tears as she buried her face into her hands heartbrokenly crying. "My baby, what- what if something terrible happens within that time?" She grimly asked.
"I wouldn't worry too much, Tsukino-san." Officer Nakosone responded with a polite smile. "I've seen this happen too many times with teenagers. They have too much to drink, leave with someone random and returns home or to a friend's house the following morning hungover and full of regrets." He said with a soft chuckle. "Don't worry, I'm sure she's somewhere safe sleeping off the effects of her drinking." He explained as he stood. "Here's my contact information, when she shows up in the morning, give me a call." He stated, wanting to remain positive for the family's sake.
"If she doesn't?" Ikuko worriedly asked, watching the officer flip the card over and write a name and number onto the card.
"If she doesn't, please contact Investigator Keisa. He will be the one assigned to your daughter's case." Officer Nakasone explained watching the couple silently nod with understanding. "I sincerely hope it doesn't come to that."
"Thank you." Kenji softly stated, watching the officer nod as he gathered all his notes and information from his questioning.
Watching his father quietly stand and walk the officer out of the kitchen, Shingo frowned as he looked over at his mother in worry. 'Where are you, Usagi-baka?' He angrily thought, angered that his sister was putting their parents through so much worry.
(Later at the Hospital)
"Naru." Mayumi softly stated in relief, watching her daughter begin to groggily stir. "I'm so glad you're alright, sweetie." She tearfully stated, raising and pulling her daughter into a relieved hug. "I've never been so scared or worried." She sighed, happy tears streaking in her eyes.
"Mama." Naru groggily stated, her mind still groggy and fuzzy. "Satomi-oba." She smiled when noticing her aunt tearfully sitting opposite of her.
"You gave your mama and I quite a scare." Satomi gently scolded, resting her hand over her niece's hand.
"Usagi-chan? Did Mamoru-san find her?" Naru tearfully asked, tears shining in her eyes. "Where's Usagi-chan, mama?"
"Oh, sweetie." Mayumi gently stated, before tearfully shaking her head. "The police have already spoken with the Tsukinos, they couldn't find Usagi-san anywhere after the police arrived at the party."
"Mama." Naru whimpered, tears streaking her cheeks. "Where's my friend? What happened to Usagi?" She desperately pleaded.
"I don't know sweetie." Mayumi softly stated, abruptly sitting on the bed and drawing her daughter close into her embrace as Naru heartbrokenly began to cry. "It's going to be alright, Naru. They'll find her, I promise." She gently soothed. Tightly closing her eyes, she protectively tightened her hold around her daughter, fresh tears streaking her own cheeks. 'I'm so glad you're safe with me.' She thought with relief, her heart breaking for the Tsukinos, knowing the family had to be distressed and anxious over their daughter's sudden disappearance. 'They'll find her, they have to.' She desperately thought.
