Prologue

The outdoors was enchanting at night.

The black-blue sky was sprinkled with millions of stars, a gentle breeze blew through the trees, and the crickets performed their concert. However, the wind started to pick up a little, making the crickets fall silent and scatter. Soon, the power of the wind only grew as Master Hand whooshed past the hilltop.

He zoomed through the air, "looking" aside from right to left as he did so. A few minutes ago, Master Hand sensed a powerful energy source in the area he was searching now, so he went to investigate and contain it, but he had yet to find it. Finally, he stopped on a grassy plain that stretched out to a beach, tapping his fingers in the air as if he were tapping them on a table.

Where was that energy source? There's no way he could've been wrong . . . is there?

Suddenly, Master Hand's questions were answered as a small, black hole appeared right in front of him. Hand jumped back in surprise, but soon regained his composure and was about to snap his fingers to unleash a powerful attack, when he noticed that the hole was getting bigger!

The hole increased in size in a matter of seconds, sucking in everything around it like a black hole!

Master Hand tried unleashing attacks or energy constraints, but the hole swallowed them up like they were nothing. Soon, Hand tried to fly away from the anomaly, but the force from the wormhole was too great, soon engulfing Master Hand and closing immediately.

Hand shot out of the wormhole on the other side and fell to the ground. He slowly hovered back above the ground and shook himself like one shakes his hand after hitting something hard. He looked around, but all he could see was endless darkness and terrain that looked like some kind of energy or glass.

Before Master Hand could process anything else, he saw a gigantic figure shrouded in mists and darkness hover down from the sky, eyes glowing blue.

"Perfect," it said in a raspy, echoey voice.

Chains of light shot forth from the shroud of darkness like bullets!

One chain clamped onto one of Hand's fingers, but before he could even try to pull away, the rest of the chains soon caught the rest of his fingers and the rest of his hand! Master Hand pulled and yanked with all his might, but the chains would not budge. He then tried to launch some energy attacks and bombs, but the chains held.

"You are mine, now!" the figure boomed. As Hand continued to struggle, he continued, "Now, you're going to help me find something I need . . ."

Flatworld.

Just like the name suggests, everything in that dimension is 2D, from buildings and vehicles to the people who reside there.

One such person, known as Mr. Game and Watch to the locals, stood in the center of a street juggling. A crowd of people who looked like Game and Watch gathered around to watch him, waving or cheering as he delivered one ball to the other hand and then tossed it in the air. Then GAW stopped, catching all the balls in one hand, then produced a bell in his hand, ringing it before transforming into a kid and waving flags. The crowd clapped and cheered, and GAW leaned forward to bow on each side.

However, the celebration was short-lived as a small portal emerged behind him, growing in size and threatening to suck in the whole town!

The crowd screamed and dispersed, but GAW wasn't so lucky.

As Game and Watch tried running as best he could, he slipped and immediately got dragged into the beckoning void.

After emerging from the other side, Game and Watch would have taken time to get his bearings, if it weren't for a large blue light engulfing and paralyzing him. Master Hand continued his ambush on Game and Watch, as the figure held his leash from within his shroud.

"Looks like you were right," said the figure, "The power I seek is hidden within this 2-Dimensional life form, after all. Prepare to syphon the power inside him, there is much work to be done!"

Three months later.

We find ourselves on the Isle of Ancients, which was floating high above in the sky, a large volcano could be seen stretching upwards.

Inside the island, we now find ourselves inside a large technological lab, with what looked like hundreds of strange-looking robots bustling to and fro.

Each of the robots looked the same: Rectangular head with a red light on top, a long, thin body that connected to a flat base, and a square resting around the skinny body that held their arms. One of the robots quickly shoved his way through the others, earning some angry beeps or shouts, but the little robot kept hurrying across the floor. Soon, it reached a large set of doors, which opened automatically for it, allowing it access to a large, central room. The room had long desks with computers, and a robot manned at each. There were also large printers, charts, and a platform on the other side of the room with a humungous screen. The screen displayed sections of the lab, the island, and other charts that a robot, slightly larger than the others, surveyed them.

The robot rushed through the room to the platform, screeching to a halt as soon as it was near.

"Master Robot," said the little robot in a robotic voice, "Results from our inter-dimensional experiments in Section 4-D have finally arrived."

The robot on the platform turned from the screen and looked down at the robot before him. "Report, R.O.B. Unit 254-C." He replied in a similar, but slightly deeper voice.

"Yes, sir. Our efforts to break the barriers of our reality into another were successful. However, we could not manage to open and maintain a portal into the dimension we uncovered, because the process would have resulted in a 96.7% chance of creating a black hole large enough to engulf the island."

The Master Robot looked down in thought for a moment, then looked back at his companion. "Understood. Well done, R.O.B. 254-C, continue experimenting until you breach the dimension."

"There's more news, sir," said 254 before Master Robot could turn away from him, "Though the small opening we created, we detected powerful energy inside, the levels of which go off our charts! Such energy has never been uncovered until now!"

"Fascinating!" said MB gleefully, "If we could harness this power, we could discover a new, clean source of energy!"

"I concur, I believe this kind of power could power the laboratory and the rest of our kind for hundreds of years! But, should we really keep this to ourselves? What about the lifeforms on the surface?"

"They will have to make this discovery on their own. We have made a vow never to interact with any other race, and that law is still intact. Am I clear?"

The little robot hung his head in obedience. "Yes, Master Robot."

"Good. Now go back to section 4-D and continue your experiments . . ."

Suddenly, the whole lab shook! Red lights lit up and flashed while an alarm blared throughout the compound.

"What is going on?" asked Master Robot.

"We are under attack!" replied a R.O.B. at a desk.

"Activate the energy shields!"

The R.O.B.s typed on their computers, and a humming sound could be heard.

"Shields online," reported a different R.O.B.

"Maximum power!" said Master Robot.

The R.O.B.s complied, but soon the lab shook again.

"Warning! Shield levels down to 80%!" said another R.O.B.

"Impossible!" said Master Robot. Then he turned around to the screen to see what could possibly be invading their home, but all the camera feed turned static!

The lab shook once more.

"Warning! Shield levels down to 40%!" The lab shook once more. "20%!" The lab shook again. "Shield failure in 10 seconds!"

"Brace yourselves!"

No sooner than he said that, the lab violently shook for a couple minutes, then settled back down.

As all of the R.O.B.s recovered from the shock, a huge explosion echoed throughout the lab.

"Report!" said Master Robot after he helped a fellow R.O.B. to his "feet."

"Front entrance has been breached!" said a R.O.B over the comms. "What . . . what are those things? I-I've never seen anything like them! Does . . . not . . . compute!"

The line went dead.

"If these are invaders, we must defend ourselves!" said a R.O.B.

"You know as much as I that violence is not in our programming!" replied Master Robot, "We are sworn to science and research, no more, no less!"

Suddenly, the doors to the lab sparked like the one on Princess Leia's ship in A New Hope, until the doors exploded and smoke emerged!

Short, fat green creatures emerged into the room. Some of them had rocket launchers, energy swords, or had metal or red skin, while others were plain green with no weapons. Birds with colorful feathers and long, pointy beaks zoomed in after them.

Primids and Auroros.

Some Primids shot or tackled some R.O.B.s to the ground, while the Auroros plunged to the floor, spearing through other R.O.B.s! The R.O.B.s tried to escape, but the army was too much for them.

Soon, only the Master Robot and a couple other R.O.B.s were huddled in front of the platform. As the Shadow Army gained closer to the cowering robots, Master Robot made his way to the front of his comrades and held his arms out as if to block them.

"STOP!" he yelled.

Surprisingly, the army obeyed and stopped where they were, while the birds hovered in the air.

"I do not know why you are attacking our home, but you have no right! We R.O.B.s are a peaceful race, and have refrained from interacting with any life form for years, so we have no quarrel with you!"

Suddenly, a Primid in the front twitched violently and bent backwards, red eyes projecting an image of a humanoid figure, still shrouded in darkness, making the hologram appear static and glitchy.

"You're right," said the figure from the hologram, "I don't have any quarrel with you or your kind, but I need your island nonetheless."

"Why could you possibly need our facility?"

"You machines have created the most advanced technology like no one has ever seen! You have mastered sciences and energies beyond any normal life form's comprehension! And now, it is in my complete control!"

"We will never share our research with the likes of you!" said Master Robot, "And we will never serve you!"

"Is that so?" The figure nodded to a Scope Primid, who nodded back and shot a rocket at one of the R.O.B.s in the group!

The explosion knocked all the R.O.B.s to the ground, and Master Robot gazed in horror at the scattered pieces of his former comrade.

"That was just a warning," said the figure from the hologram, "I can make your kind suffer a fate worse that they can possibly imagine! However, that is entirely up to you."

The Master Robot looked around at the ruined room. Evil creatures were everywhere, along with the remains of his companions. Master Robot looked down in thought once more, then jerked his head around multiple times in computation, until he finally closed his eyes and sunk his head. He opened his eyes and looked up at the figure.

"We'll do anything you ask."

The other R.O.B.s scooted back in shock, and they were about to speak up, but Master Robot stopped them.

"Good," said the figure in a tone that made him sound like he was grinning, "Now, get to work!"

Meta Knight was flew across the deck of the Halberd and fell hard to the floor. He groaned as he made himself get back up, glaring at his opponent, who stood on the other side of the deck: King Dedede.

Dedede laughed and slapped his stomach, then he said, "Come on, Meta Knight! Make this easy for both of us and give me your ship! If this ship is powerful enough to take on Kirby, then I must have it!"

"I am this ship's only master!" he replied, "If you want to take it, then you'll have to go through me!"

"Ha! Piece of cake!"

Dedede, as fat as he was, charged over at Meta Knight and slammed his hammer down, but Meta Knight teleported out of the way just in time. He reappeared behind Dedede and slashed him with his sword, then charged into him and drove him into the deck.

"I fear it will be harder than you think!" Meta Knight pinned Dedede to the floor, until Dedede rolled over and backhanded him.

Meta Knight stumbled backward and gave Dedede just enough time to whack him with his hammer, sending him flying near the edge of the ship. Meta Knight started to get back up, but then noticed Dedede was charging at him again, so he charged as well, spinning until he slammed into him like a drill.

Dedede fell down to the ground, Meta Knight standing triumphantly in front of him. "You were foolish to challenge me, Dedede! And without your Waddledee army in fact! Now you'll pay for your actions!"

Just as Meta Knight raised his sword to strike down Dedede, a missile shot Meta Knight in the back and sent him crashing across the deck. Dedede looked up in shock, wondering what that could have been.

That's when he noticed a Scope Primid holding a rocket launcher, smoke emanating from the weapon. An army of Primids, Borboras, Feyesh, and other creatures were gathered behind the Scope Primid, while others made their way from the lower levels or climbed onboard.

Meanwhile, back in Subspace, the mysterious figure watched the invasion from a window he opened into reality, but nothing on the other side could see it. Master Hand floated helplessly at the end of his leash.

"It appears invading the Halberd was less difficult than I first thought," said the figure, "Thanks to this 'Dedede,' my forces were able to infiltrate the ship undetected. Now then, I think it is the perfect time to test our latest weapon that the R.O.B.s kindly made for us weeks ago."

Back on the Halberd, the army telepathically received their master's command and parted like the Red Sea, making way for two Primids carrying a huge, yellow, bazooka and aimed it at Meta Knight.

However, Meta Knight regained consciousness and noticed the weapon, quickly flying away before a long, black arrow with yellow outlines, could hit him. The Primids tried shooting him again and again, but Meta Knight dodged each blast. However, he stopped right in front of Dedede, and the Primids once again fired, thinking they finally had their chance. However, before the beam could hit Meta Knight, he teleported out of the way and it hit Dedede instead.

Meta Knight reappeared and watched as the arrow went through Dedede, making him shrink and stiffen until he turned into a miniature toy-version of himself.

Meta Knight's eyes widened in concern but soon refocused on the army. He sped toward the two Primids, slicing their weapon in half and then dispatching them. The army attacked, using their various forms of attack (whether it be fire breath, electric blasts, or energy swords). Meta Knight flew up into the air and dived down, using his drill attack to plow through a majority of the creatures. A Sword Primid appeared behind him, sword raised high above his head, but Meta Knight turned around and blocked its attack, soon slicing it with his own sword and blocking an attack from another Sword Primid. Then he pushed him back toward the trophy of Dedede, which caused it to fall onto its side and roll off the deck and into the clouds.

However, no matter how many creatures Meta Knight could take out, twice as many seemed to take their place. It got worse when some Primids pushed forward some crates, then pried them open.

As soon as the crates opened, millions of tiny, black, shadowy spots flowed out onto the deck. Within seconds, groups of spots piled onto each other and were transformed into more Primids!

Meta Knight tried to fight them off, but he was so busy with a group of monsters in front of him, that he didn't see a Scope Primid prepare its weapon and shoot him again. There was an explosion and Meta Knight was knocked further back, but even then he didn't have a moment to breathe as a Metal Primid sped forward and punched, then kicked him. Meta Knight clutched his stomach area and stumbled backward, barely holding onto his sword.

He stared at the endless mass of creatures that cornered him to the very edge of his ship. He hated to admit it, but this was a losing battle, and he needed to retreat. Meta Knight looked behind himself and saw the sky below him, then looked back at the army.

A Sword Primid drew its energy sword and rushed at Meta Knight, but he jumped off the ship. After diving a few feet, he spread his wings and immediately teleported out of sight.

Some Auroros prepared to fly after him, until they all heard a telepathic voice saying, "Let him go, he is not important right now. We have what we came for. Now, pilot the ship to the rendezvous point and I will give further instructions upon your arrival."

All the creatures immediately complied, scattering this way and that as they took control of the ship.

Back in Subspace . . .

"That was more successful than I ever hoped for," said the figure, "Sure, we didn't capture Meta Knight, but at least we now know the Dark Cannons can neutralize anyone who opposes me. Plus, the test with the Shadowbugs kindly donated from Mr. Game and Watch's person proved to be effective. Wouldn't you agree?"

Master Hand didn't move.

"Nothing to say for the occasion?"

"You . . . will not . . . get away . . . with this!"

Bolts of electricity sparked down the chains, shocking Master Hand and making him twitch violently until he collapsed to the ground.

"I already have," replied the figure, "Nothing will stand in the way of my grand vision for this world!"

A Waddledee walked out from the bushes, soon accompanied by other Waddledees.

This spot outside the forest was where their king told them to meet him after he took the Halberd, but oddly, he was nowhere to be found.

The first Waddledee looked at another one, who did its best to shrug. The Waddledees looked around but still couldn't find him, until . . .

Something hard hit one of the minions on the head. As the poor Waddledee cried and tried to rub its head, the others gathered around him and saw the trophy of King Dedede. One Waddledee looked at the others, who all shrugged or shook their heads. The Waddledee looked back down and slowly reached its hand out to it.

As soon as it touched the trophy, it began to glow brighter and brighter. Soon, Dedede returned to his true form, making all the Waddledees jump or back away in shock.

Dedede rubbed his head and looked up at the sky, expecting to see the Halberd, but it was gone.

He looked back down and panted in fright. "That . . . that . . . that was crazy! If those . . . things have weapons like that, I'm done for!" Dedede thought for a moment, before widening his eyes and doing a poor attempt at a snap. "I got it! Waddledees, follow me! We've got work to do!"
