A (not so findable) moment just for us
Peter Carlisle, now renamed Singy, never expected such incredible and extraordinary events in his life.
If someone had predicted that one day individuals with faces so eerily the same as his own had kidnapped him by deception, Peter would have laughed at him.
Even more so if they had told him that he would end up making friends with each of these strange individuals, not to mention the extraordinary, super-technological spaceship that hosts them.
The same spaceship that then led them to meet that actor who in a certain way gave life to all of them.
If someone had told Peter that one day he would have a big crush on a colleague of his, he would not even have been too surprised.
But that the object of his attention in addition to his own profession in common also had the same features as his, only a little older in age ... Well, Peter could never have imagined this, not even in his most fervent fantasies .
Yet it happened, Alec entered his life, thanks to a clever ruse put in place by those who now he considers his friends.
Peter was attracted to him right away, even before he met him, when he saw him fill his role, leading his team.
He doesn't even have a team, he only has a young assistant towards whom he feels almost like a father, perhaps this is why he sees Alec as a role model to follow, a better version of himself that he would like to become.
Maybe just a little more gruff. Okay, no: much more gruff.
Yet Peter is convinced that he has found his way to the older''s on the mend heart and that under his rude appearance there is a pleasant person to discover.
Very pleasant.
His heart has already sung to him and he knows that Alec has not remained indifferent to him.
Just as he was not indifferent during that day spent with SweeTown.
How he was not indifferent during his dance on the roof.
Technically Alec just addressed him rather abruptly to reproach him, but Peter also caught a hidden message and said hidden message makes him chuffed to bits.
He didn't even miss the way Alec watched him dance.
It's all this set of considerations and memories that woke Peter up that morning, giving him not only a great desire to start the day, but above all to spend as much time as possible with Alec, perhaps trying to test the ground a little more with him, to understand if there can be more things in common, beyond the profession they carry out.
At David's and his wife Georgia's home it was a continuous succession of new things to discover, new people to meet and various events, so spending moments only between the two of them was mostly impossible.
He hears a knock on his door.
-Oohh, maybe my adorable grouch has the same urge to spend more time together.- he smiles to himself, going to open the door.
Too bad his expectations are disappointed.
The one in front of him doesn't even have the same face as him.
"My good friend, are you also looking forward to testing our two gifts together?" Aziraphale welcomes him joyfully, waving his gift in front of him, that is a very special multi-plate oven, capable of facing any type of cooking, the perfect match for Singy and his recipe book with all the most typical delicacies of each universe.
"Well, yes, but there will be time to prove something .." the young detective tries to make him desist.
"Yeah, angel, he's right, you can do more interesting things with me!" pouts Crowley, who seldom parted from him. "But then why the Paradise did you call 'my good friend' someone you have known since yesterday? Literally!"
"Yesterday is a bit exaggerated ... you have been here with us for at least three days, then the fact that the trip to David and Georgia lasted an eternity is just an impression, the TARDIS is good at making you lose the conception of time!" Peter explains to them, smiling.
"Actually yes, we are still a bit confused, but it's a beautiful confusion!" approves the angel, before turning to his beloved. "Anyway, I called him that because there is a demon I know who would freak out if he heard me call him 'my dear'," Aziraphale justifies himself.
"Who issssss thisssss demon you hang out with? Why don't I know anything about thissss matter? " Crowley hisses annoyed, before awareness hits him. "Oh, wait, that'ssssss me!" he hisses, but this time with satisfaction, smiling as well.
"And anyway, I don't see why we couldn't become good friends, we have so much in common!" the angel smiles affably at the human.
"I'm already a very good friend of a wonderful spaceship, I don't see why I can't become friends with an angel," Peter smiles at him in the same way, while the TARDIS indulges in a purring sound after his compliments. "And a demon." he immediately adds, realizing how bad Crowley is glaring at him.
"Oh, well, if nothing else I like you because you play music!" the red shrugs.
In his room, Alec is also preparing to face the day, more or less with the same intentions as Peter.
That young dancer, singing and talkative detective, with contagious enthusiasm, fascinates him more than he wants to admit, he almost feels younger and more carefree when he is with him.
And with a teenage daughter in a fluctuating mood, a marriage he has tried to mend without success, a delicate heart operation he has just undergone and a case that has re-emerged from his past that does not give him peace, Alec has way too many thoughts.
-Peter is a vacation from my life and God only knows how long I haven't been on vacation!-
He would like to spend another day in his company, like the one on that absurd planet full of sweets and then on a mission on the rooftops.
- I almost suspect that the Doctor makes it on purpose to always leave us alone. Not that I mind ...-
He adjusts his blue jacket over his white shirt, without a tie and left open on the first buttons, to look less rigid.
As soon as he walks down the corridor he runs into someone who always has a rigid air.
Killgrave flaunts a double-breasted jacket that flows from ocean blue to periwinkle purple, without even one of his hair being out of place.
His elegance is almost intimidating, but not only that.
"Good morning, detective," he greets him cordially, but with a cold cordiality.
"I don't know if it's a good morning ... you're the one who makes me do weird things." Alec mutters uneasily.
In response, Killgrave bursts out laughing.
"If smiling is a strange thing to you, then you have a serious problem, my friend. Not that you and I are friends. " he rushes to clarify.
"A point on which we are extremely in agreement." Alec barks, before remembering who he is dealing with and making an effort to change his attitude. "Were you going to have breakfast too?"
"Yup. Peter got up before me and I have no idea where he disappeared, but I don't like it when it happens. " snorts the persuader.
Alec flinches for a moment, but then he makes up his mind and remembers that Drinky actually has the same name as his singing detective.
"However, I have chosen not to limit his freedom. I don't even see the little thing around and, you know, with an alien, a powerful wizard, now also an angel and a demon, the list of who I can control in here is very small ..." Killgrave continues his speech and Alec feels a shiver run down his back.
"Me ... do you want to control me?" he asks, nervously arranging his tuft of hair.
"Yes, but only a little bit," Killgrave teases. "Answer truthfully: your sworn Nemesis comes to you swearing that he/she wants to change for the better for you. Do you believe him or her? "
"No." is Alec's dry reply.
The icy calm of Killgrave gives way to utter despondency.
"That's it, do you see it? If you say such a thing, let alone Jessica! But what's wrong with all of you detectives having to reason with such a closed mentality?" he complains. "This trip made me understand many things, my desire for change is sincere and Jessica must understand it!"
"Who is Jessica?" Alec frowns.
"What does 'who is Jessica?' means? Weren't you there when I asked David and Georgia for advices? " Kevin questions him, but the other shakes his head negatively.
As a matter of fact, with all the coming and going of people, children and everything that happened in that house, perhaps it wasn't so easy to always be able to stay all in the same room.
Only then does Kevin realize how poorly informed Alec is.
"Breakfast can wait." the persuader decides. "I'm going to tell you a long story and you will listen to it."
"I'll listen to it ..." Alec repeats, dazed.
When he and Kevin finally reach the Cake Room to his deep disappointment Alec does not find Singy, to tell the truth there is no one left.
As soon as Kevin sees Drinky he hurries to finish his buttered toast, grabs a jar of chocolate and rum cream and gets up from the table.
Alec prefers not to ask himself why. Even without Peter explaining everything to him, he is noticing certain dynamics on that ship by himself.
-The Doctor and the deranged wizard ... Killgrave and the other Peter ... even if I don't understand, he talked to me for almost two hours about that Jessica who he loves so madly ... the angel and the demon, oh, c'mon, they must be a couple for real! Then, oh well, David remains in love with his wife, even from a distance, only Peter and I would be missing to complete the picture ... if it really needs to be completed!- the handsome austere detective worries, upset by his own feelings, so unfamiliar to him.
He thinks he has visions when, about twenty minutes later he sees Peter Carlisle trotting in his direction, with the lightheartedness that distinguishes him.
"Hi Alec, finally! I waited for you for a long time this morning at breakfast, " the youngest confesses without filters.
"I was detained by reasons of force majeure ..." Alec points to his temple to let the other know who he is talking about. "And now I know the life, death and miracles of a girl doing the same job as us, but in a totally different way."
"Oh, if Killgrave told you about Jessica, I'm surprised he let you go so soon…" Peter chuckles.
Alec is about to tell him that even that was due to reasons of force majeure of a very different nature, when a voice behind them interrupts them.
"Just the two I was looking for!"
Of course, with the exception of a Companion, everyone has the same voice, but this one is particularly recognizable for its slightly higher pitch and the enthusiasm it brings out.
David.
They both turn to the actor.
"Didn't you come down to lunch with the others?" Singy asks him with a note of disappointment in his tone; he was convinced that they were left alone.
"No, I was fine, there was a breakfast that was even bigger than the banquet in the Great Hall!" David chuckles, but the other two look at him perplexed.
"Barty would have understood!" snorts the actor, before taking a chair and positioning himself between the two. "I still don't believe what is happening to me, but you will understand that I want to reap all the possible advantages. Tell me about your emotions. "
"I beg your pardon. My...what?" Peter frowns.
"I played you, but you are somehow alive now, and you can tell me what I don't know. Let's start with you, Peter, do you notice when you're about to sing? "
"Oh, well that interests me too." Alec smiles.
"Yes and no ... I mean, I don't hear the music, as it happens to you, nor do I think I'm singing, dancing or whatever, what is certain is that I feel like I'm going into a trance and that for those two, three minutes or how long the song lasts, I won't be fully master of my actions. " confesses the youngest of the group.
"I've always imagined it that way too," David winks at him, then moves on to Alec. "Let's see, can I ask you ... was there a second date after that blind date?"
"After my ... what ?!" Alec's eyes widen.
"After his ... what ?!" Peter reacts the same way.
"Oh yeah, it's true, you didn't want any previews and you didn't tell me what season you're in ... as unspoken!" David shrugs nonchalantly, then changes the subject. "Rather, tell me, you don't have the… sexual drives that my other characters have with each other, do you?"
Alec and Peter both shake their heads negatively.
"Oh, well, not that I don't find it a nice thing, but you'll admit it's a little weird too, right?"
Alec and Peter both shake their heads, this time in the affirmative way.
"Well, guys, now I greet you, I'm going to go around the TARDIS a bit, I mean, when we were shooting, there were yes and no three, four rooms recreated, but this is the real TARDIS, wow! " he goes away, all high.
Alec and Peter look at each other with complicity, the second giggles as well, for the first it would be too much.
"He didn't notice anything. But how the hell did he manage to play a detective? Indeed, two. " Alec asks, thrilled.
"To be fair, three." Peter reveals to him.
"And who the hell is the third?"
"Such an Emmet something ... a kind of bad copy of you, but American."
"I'd rather numb my tongue than make a stupid American accent!" Alec grumbles, disgusted at the very thought. "But how do you know?"
"The Doctor told me, but don't worry, he's not on the list. Then, oh well, if you're so curious you can also ask David ... "
" Naah, I'll keep my curiosity, "replies the older. "Let me be clear, I like David, a lot, but sometimes he's so talkative!" he snatches a laugh from the youngest, before he pulls the chair closer again.
"Well, well, now we seem to be alone ..." winks Peter, licking his lips in a way that Alec almost finds hypnotic.
Noises can be heard from the other side of the TARDIS.
Evidently everyone else must have returned from lunch.
"Today it is destiny that we cannot have a moment for ourselves, spring chicken." Alec sighs in resignation.
"If we kepp silent no one will notice that we are here." Peter suggests.
They hear the sound of footsteps, doors opening and closing, perhaps everyone must have entered their room.
This is before hearing another type of noise, between metallic and electronic.
"The Doctor will be building something," Alec deduces.
"Mpf ... but, my Lord ..." Barty can be heard muttering in the distance.
"Oh come on, Barty, you knew I would have done it..." the Doctor replies.
"Yes, but .." the other moans.
They can't say why, but both Peter and Alec have a bad feeling.
"Siingyyy, Aleeec!" he calls them together and the two just have to reach them.
Following the voice they understand that they are in the room where the Slot Machine is, the reason for Barty's bad mood.
There is also David there with them and by the way he's looking softened at Ten and Barty it doesn't seem to find the mutual attraction between the two so strange.
"Oh thank goodness you are here, Drinky, Kevin, Crowley and Aziraphale have sort of evaporated," the Time Lord comments.
"Who knows why ..." Alec mumbles, sarcastic.
"This stubborn wizard does not want to convince himself that nothing changes if I add a few more combinations, as it should be," explains the problem Ten, pointing to an annoyed Barty, while with his sonic screwdriver he updates the Slot Machine .
"And this is where you come in handy: when I'm done, it's not long before that, you two and David should play as much as possible, so this stubborn wizard of mine understands that his face, as well as mine, will continue to appear with a fairly satisfactory frequency. "
Barty approaches him sulkily.
"My Lord, do you really have to call me that?" he mumbles against his ear.
"Yes, if you are so stubborn." replies the Time Lord. "And anyway you always remain ' my stubborn wizard'," he murmurs, kissing him, before finishing his modifications.
David is the first to make his shots at that game and then the other two follow, until Barty gradually begins to convince himself that although with less ease than before, he sees his face or the Doctor's face quite often, with the related backgrounds.
Alec and David observe, slightly intrigued the first, totally fascinated the second, the photos and backgrounds that the Doctor has chosen for their additions: Alec stands out against the background of his cliffs, with his long raincoat and his hair blowing in the wind, David is holding one of his countless awards, with a background made from a miniature collage of all the characters he has played, most obviously not on the Doctor's list.
"Okay, David, since this is going to be long, would you tell us more about Emmet?" Singy surprises him with his request.
-
Even dinner doesn't seem to be a suitable moment for the two detectives to be alone, as Peter Vincent is entertaining them with his tales of how he spent the afternoon.
"I don't want to give you the details, but let's just say my brain-fucker has found something far more satisfying than a fucking slice of bread, to enjoy the rum chocolate it took away," the illusionist whispers in their direction, while his beloved is busy talking to Barty.
Alec looks at him dismayed, his namesake instead, perhaps thanks to his young age, shows a lot of interest, almost as if it were a porn film.
"I don't think it's necessary to add that he can be very creative in bed and the brain hasn't been the only part of me he enjoys fucking, not anymore!" Drinky grins proudly.
"Bloody hell! Luckily you didn't want to give us details! " Alec grumbles, scandalized.
"Oh well, the banger''s eyes shine more than usual, what is it? Maybe you would like to get some practice, too?" Drinky teases him.
- Yes, but going gradually, of course ... if only you all would leave us alone for a while! - Singy ponders, exasperated, thanking his lucky stars for not feeling any trance sensation, because to reveal his feelings with an unequivocal song there, in front of everyone, it's the last thing he needs.
After dinner, after the usual chat, it's time to go to bed.
Alec accompanies Peter Carlisle to his room.
"Who knows, maybe tomorrow we will have more opportunities to stay a little more in privacy ..." starts the speech the younger.
"Just as it could even be worse than today," points out the older, leaning against the wall.
"While now we would have the mathematical certainty that no one would disturb us." Peter casually comments.
"Hey, sping chicken, are you perhaps suggesting me to stay with you and ... relax a little?" Alec winks, while the other opens the door.
"Only you are up for that," Peter smiles, tapping the blue sheets in invitation as they both take off their shoes.
"You can decide if we have to obey it or not." Alec murmurs, already lying on his side of the bed.
"To obey what?" the younger one raises an eyebrow, perhaps he has already understood.
"The naked rule. I mean, if the Doctor set it up, we were exonerated for a while, but it seems rude to persist in doing so… "Alec continues, reaching out to Peter's white shirt which he begins to unbutton.
"Very rude, indeed." approves Peter, doing the same with Alec's. "And then how is that saying 'Places you go to... clothes you lose!'!"
