A/N: This is a one-shot I wrote around the time I had finished the original version of My Father's Wife (the one that was also supposed to be a one-shot). Like all my one-shots, this is a very compressed version of a story. It's kind of how I start all my projects. The breaks are supposed to be separate chapters. I then use this to create an outline for what I hoped would be a multi-chapter story. Seeing that it's been years and I hadn't expanded on this project further, I planned to delete it. Like anything I post here, I figured, "why not post it anyway?" I so rambled, but whatever.

Hope you all enjoy this one, too.

Brittany S. Pierce started her career as a fashion designer before her she even graduated high school. Teen Vogue had interviewed her while enrolled at WMHS after her fashion blog, which featured all her looks, was discovered by one of their journalists. Her Instagram and YouTube channel blew up after her interview, and she gained thousands of followers. Designing and trend-setting came so naturally to her. She didn't even have to think about it. She just went to her closet, put something on, not caring if it matched or not, and off she went. Before she'd know it, she'd already started a trend. Everyone was wearing leg warmers on their arms, and they looked awesome if she didn't say so herself. Even reindeer cardigans managed to become a trend she set. She was also credited for bringing back headbands. Fashion was something Brittany was naturally good at.

She almost forgot about her love for fashion and designing outfits once she fell into depression after her older girlfriend and high-school sweetheart broke up with her when she went away to college. Everyone saw it coming. Brittany was a junior, and Santana was a senior. It was bound to happen. Santana didn't just take away Brittany's heart. She took away her inspiration, too.

Tina asked her to design a prom dress for her. Brittany couldn't say no to her best friend, who only wanted to look perfect for her boyfriend, Mike. After all, Mike was her other best friend too. She designed and sewed every piece, and her final result was flawless. A picture of the dress made it onto Instagram with her name tagged. That post went viral, with many people wanting to know who designed it and where they could get one. It got her some interviews, too.

It was the start of something big because a few designers saw her design. One, in particular, wanted to see more of her work. It was then that she went into a designing frenzy. She spends her time designing, sketching, sowing, and repeating the same actions again and again. He was beyond impressed. He took her under her wing and gave her a paid internship at his company in New York.

She busied herself with new designs. She made a few dresses for some top celebrities. After some time, she even dated a few people. Some were famous and some equally talented as her. Her longest relationship was with a photographer. It ended up not working out because she was busy with her career. She had no time to do anything. She liked it that way because it was the only way to let her mind not wander off into memory lane. Memories of a certain brunette always haunted her.

One night, Tina let her know that Santana was engaged with some girl named Dani. Brittany didn't want to hear more.

Brittany's days revolved around designing, meeting models or clients, and maybe a one-night stand here and there.

Word got out that she was the new and upcoming designer, and her career was off to a hot start. Everyone wanted to have Brittany design clothes for them, and every designer wanted to work with her. So many designers going to school wished they had the talent the blonde possessed.

Because Brittany was a trendsetter, she was a designer who wasn't afraid of using bold colors and fabrics and putting things together that didn't appear to go together. Brittany could make anything look good.

Every design was met with favorable criticism. They thought Brittany was a visionary. Within a year, designs were featured in numerous magazines. Everyone loved her work, but she was unsatisfied with all of it.

"These don't look perfect." She said to herself as she watched the many models getting ready to walk down the walkway of her first runway.

Brittany knows she shouldn't. It's a terrible idea because Santana is only weeks away from getting married, something she heard from Tina, but she can't help it.

She decides to do it anyway.

Santana was surprised when Brittany called her out of the blue for a big favor to meet with her immediately.

Dani, her fiancée, was not happy with the idea. Santana had told her all about Brittany and how much she meant to Santana. Dani remembers what Santan had told her when they met. She recalls how Santana said she missed Brittany but needed to cut contact with Brittany so the blonde girl could flourish and focus on her studies. But, much to Dani's delight, they never reconnected.

No, Dani wasn't happy about how quickly Santana had agreed to meet the blonde. Santana hadn't even discussed it with her. She simply arrived from work to see Santana getting ready and telling her she was getting a ride from one of Brittany's drivers and that she'd call when she could.

Santana's jaw dropped as the driver reached their destination. The door opened, and she stepped out. She felt someone pull on her arm. She did not get to ask one question because a guy named Kurt was telling her that she was going to walk on a runway.

"Wait! What?!"

Brittany had asked her to be a model. She never said anything about a runway.

"I take it, Brittany didn't tell you."

"You think!?" Santana said as she began to panic. "Where is she? I need to talk to her. This is crazy!?"

"Brittany, my dear, is a very busy woman. She's making sure her night goes as planned. She told me to tell you that she appreciates you doing this for her. She also told me you'd got one hell of a catwalk and just to make you pretty."

Santana wasn't sure what was happening, but she was rolling with it. She was next in line, and all these models kept looking at her. She feels so out of place.

"I'm so gonna get her for this," Santana said to herself.

Brittany always drove her crazy. She missed that more than she'd like to admit

Kurt, who she now knows is Brittany's assistant, nodded at her and signaled for her to go.

She walked. Soon, all she could focus on was what was in front of her. It was hard to see; flashes went off.

She felt beautiful. She'd never felt more beautiful than at that point. She could see herself in the panel behind her when she turned and damn. She finally understood why all the models looked at her. She was gorgeous!

By the end of it all, Santana was tired. She didn't realize how tired or hurt her feet were until she sat down. The show is over. She wore so many outfits, and her make-up got touched up a lot. Her hair changed styles a few times, too.

She hasn't felt this incredible in a long time. She closed her eyes and began to breathe deeply. She needed to slow down her adrenaline rush.

"I knew you'd look perfect out there." But then, she heard a very familiar voice say.

She smiled and opened her eyes.

"If I could walk right now, I'd definitely tear you a new one, Britt."

"It's good seeing you too, San." She smiled knowingly.

Santana tapped the spot next to her. Brittany accepted the invitation and sat next to her.

"I see you've done well for yourself, Britt-Britt. I'm super proud of you."

"Thanks. Everything sort of happened overnight. One minute I was designing something for Tina, and the next I knew, Marc Jacobs wanted to see my work. He hired me. Everything is still sort of a blur from there. I meant to reconnect, but I was always-"

"Busy. Yeah, I know. I tried a few times too, but you'd be off somewhere in Paris or some other fashion show. You're a very busy gal."

"I'm glad you accepted and stayed even though I sprung it on you. These other models are great, but you made my designs look the best."

Santana swallowed. The big blue eyes she loved so long ago looked bluer than she'd ever remembered. She hated to admit that she missed them.

"So, I should get going. We should keep in touch." Brittany said as she got up. "I'll be the first to warn you. You did so well out there that there may or may not be a few agents waiting to work with you. Take Mercedes Jones's card. Her agency pays the most."

Santana wasn't quite sure what to say.

"You know, in case you want to be a model. Either way, prepare for fame because your face is going to be everywhere for the next few weeks."

No warning could have ever prepared Santana for how quickly her life changed. She'd gone from working at a restaurant singing music with Dani and Rachel while finishing school to being a model.

Her relationship with Dani had been a little rocky. With Santana flying to places for photoshoots and fashion shows, she had little time to spend with Dani.

Santana's mom was the only one that asked Santana how her relationship was going. Santana downplayed everything. Her Mexican-third eye was telling her that her mom felt something was off. It bothered her that her mom might know something she didn't.

Santana began to question if her being a model was for her. She wants to settle down, not switch careers. However, she didn't think too hard about it because her brother arrived home, and Santana got carried away with a conversation with him.

Santana's agent, Mercedes, informed her that Brittany had requested that she appear in another of her shows. Brittany wanted her to model her work again. It was her first day off since everything got so hectic with photoshoots and modeling shows. Santana knew she should spend time with her fiancée, Dani, but she also had been meaning to thank Brittany for everything she'd done for her.

"Thank you, Kurt. I'll be there tomorrow first thing."

Santana saw the disapproval on Dani's face. She knew this was going to be a long night, and not the good kind either.

"Okay. See you tomorrow."

Santana hung up the phone and knew it was best not to say anything. Dani was the one to break the silence.

"I can't believe I finally got you to take a day off, and you go and take another job!"

Santana sighed as she watched Dani pace back and forth in the kitchen.

"I have been waiting here while you're off working. I hate being selfish with you, but we're getting married. You should be here with me. We should be planning our wedding together."

Santana couldn't figure out what to say to make Dani feel better. She didn't want to say she'd stay home tomorrow because she really wanted to thank Brittany. But, if Santana were sincere, she'd admit that she'd been thinking of Brittany ever since she'd called her months ago.

"Please say something," Dani whispered.

"I don't really know what to say," Santana admitted.

Dani paced around a bit more. She was deep in thought, and Santana swore Dani was trying not to cry. Instead, she watched Dani intently as Dani began to take her engagement ring off.

"What are you doing?" Santana asks.

Dani shrugged. "I am going to stay at my mother's house for a while. I just-I can't wait anymore for you while I cry myself to sleep. I can't put my life on hold while you're out working in places I'll probably never visit. I can't do this."

Santana was trying to process everything as Dani quietly packed two suitcases. Santana saw everything except the silent begging in Dani's eyes, telling Santana to ask her to stay. Dani knew it would be over when she walked out the door, and her pleas went unnoticed. She broke down when she got into a cab.

Santana was still in her spot, wondering how this happened but made no attempt to fix it. How could she fix something that's been fragile for so long?

Brittany was adding the finishing touches to her last outfit. It looked good already, but she knew it would look perfect on Santana. She bit her lip as she pictured Santana wearing it. Dani was such a lucky woman. She was shaken from her thoughts as she heard knocking on the door.

She was not expecting anyone other than Santana, so she made her way over. She opened it and greeted Santana, who was smiling. Brittany explained that she was so thankful that Santana had agreed to model. They get to work, and Brittany alters some of her designs. Brittany noticed no ring on Santana's left finger, but she did not mention it. Secretly, her insides were full of hope at the possibility of Santana being single.

"These are going to be perfect," Brittany said as she finished the last one. Just then, a deep roar could be heard from Santana's stomach. Santana blushed because she only now realized she was hungry. It was not her fault, though. She hadn't realized how much time had passed. Neither had Brittany.

"Shit! I didn't even offer you anything to drink or eat. I'm such a terrible host."

Santana chuckled before explaining that it was okay because she, too, forgot all about eating.

"Come on. I know about this really awesome Thai food place. I need to get my eats on."

They saw each other more. Santana made an effort to meet up with Brittany. If there was a photoshoot out of town or runway somewhere away from New York, Santana made sure to keep the blonde updated. She wasn't alone in her efforts. Brittany did the same. Santana never mentioned breaking off her engagement because she was pretty sure everyone and their mom knew that the engagement had ended. TMZ blamed it on the designer, but Santana denied it, of course. Santana would never have admitted that anyway. It was none of their business, after all.

"I looked so hot, B," Santana said as she FaceTimed Brittany.

Brittany was busy with her designs, but Santana watched her through the screen. Unfortunately, Santana was in Paris, and the time difference meant that she was in bed, and Brittany was busy working at her desk.

Brittany didn't notice how much love Santana's look gave. All Santana could think about was how bad she had it for Brittany. She decided that she would make a move as soon as she got back in town.

"You always look hot. It's like your job." Brittany said with a smirk.

"That's true," Santana said as she yawned.

Brittany sent her off to her beauty sleep. Santana complied.

"Soon," Santana promised to herself when she hung up. "Soon," she said.

They were sitting in Santana's new house. Finally, Santana was making enough money and had decided to buy a home. It was a beautiful residency on the top floor in the middle of New York City. It had a million-dollar view of the city. It had been on the market for a long time, and she was so glad she waited. She saved herself five million dollars on the home once the seller lowered his price. She put an offer in, it was accepted, and Brittany said she'd help her move in all her stuff. She rented out her old place since Dani had taken the rest of her belongings out. She made a steady profit from people wanting to stay in her old home.

"I know I've said this, but this place really does look amazing."

They took a quick break and grabbed a quick lunch at a restaurant a few minutes from Santana's new place. When they returned, the movers were bringing her big pieces of furniture. Santana directed them where to go, and before they knew it, they were almost done. They're down to their last two boxes. Santana's plan was going just as planned. Brittany opened the box that she had purposely left for Brittany to open. It had a bunch of stuff, but more importantly, it had her shoebox, which contained every letter and picture from Santana's high school romance with Brittany.

Santana smiled to herself as she noticed that Brittany had spotted the box from the corner of her eye.

Brittany's heart stopped. She hadn't expected to come across a shoebox with a picture of her and Santana back in high school in the cheer uniform. Her fingers delicately traced the heart frame around it. A hundred flashbacks ran through her mind as she opened the box. She went through them and knew what they were. "You kept them." It wasn't a question. It was a fact.

"Yeah," Santana replied. She was in front of Brittany as she looked at the items with her. "This one is my favorite." She told Brittany as she showed her a picture of a much younger Santana and Brittany.

"It was taken on our first date," Brittany recalled.

"It took me forever to finally ask you out. I was afraid you'd say no."

"I was yours before you even asked, San. I was crazy about you since I saw you at my middle school in the 8th grade when you were a freshman, and the squad was looking to get some incoming freshmen to try out. You're the reason why I even wanted to cheer."

"You did tell me that later in high school, but I didn't know that then. Then, after the tryouts, I just remember seeing you taking a drink from your water bottle. You looked over at me. I thought you were totally hot and so adorable. I didn't think anybody could be those two things at the same time.."

"And you blushed so hard. It was super cute."

"Yeah, yeah," Santana said, rolling her eyes.

"I had so much fun being with you."

"We were so in love," Santana whispered as she tucked strands of hair behind Brittany's ear. This was her chance. Her thumb gently caressed the younger girl's face. "I am still so in love with you."

Brittany closed her eyes as she basked in the feeling of Santana's soft caresses. Heaving heard Santana say she was still in love with her felt a little like being brought back to life. She opened her eyes and stared back at the brown eyes staring intensely at her. Santana leaned in to kiss her.

"I am going to kiss you. If you don't feel the same, please tell me now." She was so close, and her heart was on her sleeves. Thank god, all she heard Brittany say was,

"Please," she practically begged, "Please kiss me."

Santana's soft lips tenderly and slowly met Brittany's in a slow and sensual kiss. It was soft, simple, and so full of love. She was about to pull away when she felt Brittany's hands pulling her into a deeper kiss. Tongues met, and moans were released.

They took their time making love on the floor. They had nowhere else to go, and they had all the time in the world for it. They eventually made it to Santana's bedroom. They spent the rest of the evening and night reconnecting. Santana teared up just as she and Brittany were cuddling up and calling it a night. Happy tears, she reassured Brittany, who kissed them away. They fell asleep tangled in each other.

They were so in love and so so busy, but they were both determined to make it work. They called, texted, and FaceTimed each other. They were ever so careful with the paparazzi who remained clueless, and though they were just friends. Santana and Brittany liked it that way. They wanted to keep their relationship private for as long as they could.

They were together for six remarkable months. It's was quite evident that Brittany was always over at Santana's house. Brittany had many clothes in Santana's closet, a toothbrush, and even some of her drawing materials at Santana's. Santana secretly loved it all. She had hoped this would happen after Santana gave Brittany a spare key to her home. She gave it to her if Brittany felt like staying at her place when Santana was away, and she missed her.

Brittany was staying over more and more that Santana asked her to move in. Brittany accepted. The media went crazy once they realized that Brittany had moved in with the model. They quickly discovered it as soon as Brittany rented out her flat.

They confirmed their relationship, and even though the media did follow them around wherever they went for a while, the media attention eventually faded. They were glad to show just how much of a couple they were without caring about getting caught.

There was a rumor that Brittany and Santana were a publicity stunt. So Jimmy invited them to his show to set the rumor straight.

Jimmy was sitting behind his desk, facing the camera and talking to his audience. "Our next guest is a couple that has taken the fashion industry by storm. Brittany S. Pierce is a big-name designer for her brand, B. Pierce, has been named the most influential designer of the century, while her model girlfriend, Santana Lopez, has become the highest-paid model in just her first year alone. Together they are known as Brittana. So come on out, ladies!" He stood up and welcomed the two lovely ladies onto his stage as the crowd erupted in cheers.

"Oh my God! This is amazing!" Santana said as she sat down.

"Thanks so much for inviting us. We're so happy to be here." Brittany said as she sat down as well. Their hands naturally found each other, and their fingers intertwined.

Once the crowd calmed down, Jimmy began to speak again. "So, there's a big rumor out there that you two are a publicity stunt. Sources say that Brittany helped launch your career, and you've been helping her with her shows to help bring her exposure. So, I invited you on the show to hear what you have to say."

"Yeah, no. Brittany and I go way back."

Just as she finished sharing the small detail, a picture of a younger Santana and Brittany popped up on the screen behind them. The crowd was in awe. Both women turn around to look at the picture.

"We were so cute!" Brittany squealed out.

Santana sweetly kissed Brittany on the cheek because she was too cute for words.

"Santana and I dated in high school. I fell for her from the moment I saw her. But, being the older one, Santana graduated before I did, and we lost touch."

"I knew she wasn't happy. She wasn't the bubbly blonde I fell in love with. We weren't going to see each other for some time, and I needed to set her free." Santana explained. "I tried to reconnect with her after she graduated, but she was busy doing all her amazing designing stuff, and the opportunity never presented itself. So I eventually moved on after I heard she was dating someone."

"So, how'd you two reconnect?"

Brittany smiled and pointed to herself. "I made the first move."

"Yup. I was working and going to school. You know, like most people my age. I got this call on my phone from Brittany asking if I would do her a favor."

"Being the perfect person she is, she said yes."

"Or so she likes to think. She had to convince me. I wasn't sure I was cut out to be a model."

"It wasn't too hard."

"Britt said the cutest thing. Tell them, babe."

"I just told her the absolute truth. That my designs would never, ever, ever look better on anyone." she's interrupted by Santana finishing the rest of the quote.

"-the way they were designed to look at you. You have always been my muse."

The interview continued as the girls let the world know how they ended up back together but, more importantly, how they were not a publicity stunt.

"I'm sure Brittany has a bunch of girls swooning. Don't forget to check out Brittany's latest work. You can find it at the website below or at your local Macy's. Also, check out Santana Lopezin her first movie, "Pitch Perfect: The Sing-Off," in theaters on May 23. When we come back, Santana is going to perform one of her songs from her self-titled EP!"

Santana couldn't wait for tonight. She tied a bow on the cutest little Munchkin kitten she had purchased to help with her plan. She checked the ring to make sure it was perfectly secured. She lifts the little kitten and used a baby voice when talking to her.

"Okay, Hope, I'm going to ask Brittany to marry me. I am finally going to make my biggest dream come true."

She had spent the last two weeks attending cooking school. Brittany had been in Los Angeles working on getting a new contract deal. They've been together for a year and a half now, and they've both managed to make the busy year work for them. However, she feels like perhaps she hadn't put in the effort when she was with Dani because old feelings and dreams came back ever since she had reconnected with Brittany. She had imagined she'd marry the blonde when she was younger, even before she even knew what that stuff meant.

She was sure that Brittany was the person she was destined to be with. Everything up to this day had proven to her that this was true. However, she was shaken from her thoughts when she heard the keys behind the door.

"Let's do this." She whispered as she set the little sleeping kitten on the couch.

She greeted Brittany with a slow kiss before taking her luggage, pulling it indoors, and setting it against the wall by the door. Then, she took her purse and Brittany's hand and took her to the dining room.

"Babe, you didn't have to do this." She let Santana pull her chair before sitting and letting Santana push her in. She could see the plates had been set. "This looks amazing, baby."

"Don't thank me. It might taste horrible. I followed the recipe, and I think I got it down but thank me after you've eaten."

Brittany kept complimenting Santana. It was easily the best meal Santana has ever made. Brittany had constantly poked fun at Santana's ability only to cook eggs and bacon. Santana wasn't sensitive. She knew Brittany loved cooking for her. Brittany simply just loved taking care of her. It's one of the things that Santana loves about Brittany.

"I have one more surprise for you in the living room." She said as she took Brittany's hand and pulled her a few feet away to the living room.

Santana watched as Brittany quickly spotted the little fur ball on the couch and promptly made her way over. She smiled as Brittany took the little kitten into her hands and brought it closer to her face to nuzzle its cute little pink nose.

Santana swallowed nervously. It was only a matter of time before Brittany realized what she was really up to.

"Look at this little furball. Let's find out what your name is?" She carefully turns the heart name tag. Her eyes teared up at the words, "Will you marry me?"

She turned to find Santana bent down on one knee. Santana took Brittany's left hand.

"Baby girl, I've known you since I was 14. I've loved you for as long as I can remember. I broke your heart once knowing that we'd eventually find our way back to each other because you and I-we are just one of those couples that is a couple even when they aren't together. I think that's why my parents asked me if I was sure about marrying Dani and why my mom wasn't shocked to hear that we didn't work out. I know we both have busy lives and that we'll have to miss each other some days, sleep in empty beds some nights, and I know we will fight. I don't want to miss anybody else. I don't mind an empty bed because I know you would want nothing else but to be next to me. I don't want to fight with anybody else. You're the best thing in my life. I want forever and a day with you. Brittany Susan Pierce, please, please make my biggest dream of being married to you come true and marry me?"

Brittany's eyes were full of unshed tears, but she nodded. Santana sprung upward and kissed Brittany sweetly. Brittany whispered a soft, "Hell, yes."

Santana held Brittany close. She felt she'd died and gone to heaven and that she might just float away.

Santana insisted on telling Mama Lopez the good news first because she was their biggest fan. Then, Brittany agreed because Santana was so excited to tell everyone.

They decided to let the public figure things out on their own. Apart from their immediate family, they wanted to have this little secret to themselves for a bit longer. Their little secret lasted three solid months because Brittany and Santana kept it low-key while taking a little vacation. The paparazzi spotted the ring at one of their outings, and soon the news about their engagement blew up. The couple responded to the gossip by posting a picture of the two kissings with Brittany's left hand on Santana's cheek. The caption was simple. "I know you all want to see the ring, and I'm sad because I just want you to focus on how perfect we look in this."

Santana had a show to go to that weekend, and it was the most challenging weekend by far. She promised Brittany she would think of nothing but her. 12 hours later, Santana surprised Brittany by cuddling behind her in bed. She promised always to come home as fast as she could.

They got married six months later. It was everything Santana had ever dreamed of. Brittany refused to follow tradition. She designed Santana's wedding dress for her. Brittany had always loved creating for Santana. Designing her dress was no different. She guessed she would always design with Santana on her mind.

Brittany and Santana have a somewhat private wedding. They've been shooting their whole event and those surrounding a Bravo tv series. Because she was a successful designer, her YouTube show, Fondue For Two, had blown up despite being on hiatus for years. The interest in her show and the popularity of her brand mean that Brittany was able to strike a deal with the cable channel. The ceremony was private because they only had their closest friends and family at the wedding, but not too personal as their wedding was being recorded for the public to see. Additionally, they had done it for charity. They donated all proceeds to the LGBTQ homeless.

Cameras and all, the day was perfect. They learn that the wedding was one of the most-watched-reality tv episodes in recent history that got them their reality tv series.

It was a win-win, as Santana had put it.

Cameras were everywhere. It took some getting used to, but they got used to it pretty fast. Their fan base grew into millions. They were the most successful lesbian couple in the world. The show documented everything, including their struggles with people who disagreed with them for their sexuality or people who thought they shouldn't have gotten their show. Many people applauded them for being so open and showing the world how ordinary and indifferent LGBT people were to everyone else.

They decided Brittany should carry their children. She had less pressure on her, and her schedule was less demanding. They asked Santana's brother to be their sperm donor, and he agreed. They were soon expecting their first child, a baby boy. The entire IVF experience, the pregnancy, and the delivery was recorded for a Discovery series as a partnership with Bravo.

When he was born, the world went crazy for little Marco Pierce-Lopez, but no one would love him more than his two moms. He looked exactly like Santana except for his eyes. He has light tan skin, brown hair, and blue eyes.

"He's a perfect baby," Santana said as she kissed her wife, who had just finished feeding their baby. "Thank you for bringing him into the world."
