It was a cold winter's day at Ever After High as the students walked the halls on their way to class.
"Why does it have to be so cold?" asked Raven, who was wearing earmuffs and a scarf along with heavier clothes than normal.
"I like the cold, especially when it snows and there is a thin layer on the ground," said Apple who was smiling. She was dressed warmly but her clothes weren't nearly as heavy as what Raven's were. The main doors to the hallway they were in then opened as a girl dressed in a Santa styled dress walked in with a small bag slung over her shoulder.
"Early Christmas presents for everyone!" said the girl who was Merry Clause, daughter of Santa Claus.
"Busy as always, Merry?" asked Raven as she and Apple walked up while the girl handed out gifts to other students who had flocked to her.
"Yep, but I love giving people something so I don't mind," said Merry with a cheerful smile as she reached into the bag and pulled two gifts out for Raven and Apple. The blonde's gift was wrapped in a red wrapping paper and golden by while Raven's was covered in purple paper and a silver bow.
"Thanks, Merry," said Apple as she opened her gift to find a new pair of sparkly red heels. However, Raven took one quick glance at her gift before shutting the box back up just as quick.
"Thanks for the gift," said Raven with an obviously fake smile.
"I'm going to head back to our room, Apple, I'm suddenly not feeling all that good," she said before walking away.
"What was in that box?" asked Apple while looking at Merry.
"I don't know, my magic bag gives me one gift for a person and they have always made the recipient happy," said Merry who felt both shocked and guilty that she had given a bad gift. The bell then rang for everyone to go to class, but Raven was already back at the girls' dorm.
"Miss. Queen, what are you doing here and not in class?!" asked Baba Yaga who was in the lobby.
"I feel sick, so I'm going back to my dorm to lay down," said Raven as she headed for the stairs, a miserable expression on her face that made the older witch think that she was telling the truth.
