(A/N: This is a sequel for The Queen and the Harvester. I believe that one was favored more than the Reindeer King. I definitely enjoyed writing that one more. If you haven't read The Queen and the Harvester, I recommend you read it first. Last time we were with the characters. Anna made a bold move on Aesir who has plans to join the Royal Guard in order to get closer to Princess Anna. Elsa was pregnant with Joseph and Kristoff was taking on royal duties as the new King of Arendelle so that Elsa could rest more during pregnancy.)

CHAPTER ONE: VOW OF LOYALTY

The day was finally here, the Knighthood ceremony for those who entered training for the Royal Guard three years ago. Queen Elsa sat regally and King Kristoff tried to mimic her as best as he could to not make her look bad. She noticed how ridiculous he looked and giggled lightly to herself.

Kristoff looked over at her, "What are you laughing at?"

"Nothing. Nothing at all," she replied, loosing her smile and regaining her regal posture. She glanced again at Kristoff and greatly admired his attempt to act more royal and although he had three years of experience thus far, the ice harvester she met and fell in love with continued to still shine through. It was perfect, because Elsa didn't want him to change at all. "Relax, Kristoff. Breathe. Hold your head high and…lose the grin. You look silly."

Elsa looks to her side where there son was supposed to be. "Where's Joseph, Kristoff?"

"He'll be here. Don't worry," he replied back. Their eyes were on the palace staff working on last minute preparations and important guests arriving to formally greet them with a reverent bow before taking a seat.

"I gave him clear instruction that he was to be up early and ready. His lateness will be looked upon as rudeness by our guests and will reflect on us as monarchs and parents," Elsa explained regally.

"Relax my love. Our son is just a child. Despite your royal blood flowing through his veins, Joseph will act like any normal child would at his age," Kristoff replied.

"I blame that on your blood, Troll boy," Elsa smiled.

Kristoff smiled at her with surprise. It's been awhile since she used that name. She had many for him, but it was a sign she was starting to loosen up a bit again. Ever since she learned she was pregnant, she retreated into her regal demeanor and Kristoff didn't know why and often made attempts to make her smile and loosen up again. "Don't blame the blood of a Bjorgman, Ice Queen. You're the one that couldn't keep her hands off me."

Elsa's regal demeanor crumbled instantly as she looked at Kristoff with shock over his words, "Excuse me?"

Kristoff smiled, noticing her blush and decided to fan the flames with more teasing, "You met me. A big and strong harvester and your frozen heart couldn't help but thaw. You took one look at my body and your flesh was like, 'Come hither, baby. Take me. I'm yours.'"

Elsa gasped, reclaiming her regal posture and looked away with red cheeks, "I think it would be wise, KING Kristoff, if you became silent before you speak any more foolishness."

"Foolishness, you say? I just call it like I see it. I'll even prove it to you in the Royal Chambers tonight, my love," Kristoff replied smoothly, reaching over and gently taking Elsa's cold hand. She reacted by pulling her hand away. He loved teasing her like this whenever she tried to act regal and proper, because her womanly desires would be awakened and she would start to melt.

Elsa's cheeks were red from Kristoff's boldness. It was hard to see this was the same awkward and shy harvester she met long ago. The more time he spent around her, the more comfortable and bolder he became. This was only magnified when they married and he became King. "What is taking Anna so long? I just sent her to retrieve Joseph. We're about to start."

Anna approached her nephew's door and knocked musically, "Joseph? Your mother and father sent me to get you. The ceremony is about to start." She slowly opened the door and noticed Joseph wasn't there and his royal attire hadn't even been touched. She looked up at the open window and noticed he used tied sheets to sneak out. "Oh, no."

Joseph was in the woods, covered with dirt as he explored all the wilderness of Arendelle had to offer. The various bugs under the decayed log. The birds flying through the trees. The wild animals he stumbled upon. He longed for the wilds greatly and was happiest when he wasn't in the palace and wearing uncomfortable clothing. He saw a skunk nearby and got closer. It was beautiful with its black and white fur that looked so soft and fluffy he reached out to touch it, "Come back, Mr. Skunk!" The birds in the trees all flew above and into the sky as they were startled by Joseph's reaction when the skunk reacted to his touch. "Argh! That was gross!"

Anna headed back to inform Elsa Joseph snuck out again. Please, Elsa. Don't be too upset with Joseph. Someone quickly grabbed her from behind and pulled her into a closet. Anna smiled when she saw it was Aesir. "You should be waiting in the parlor with the other recruits."

"I tried, but got bored. I had to see you again," Aesir replied quietly, drawing closer to her with his lips.

Anna halted him with her hands. "Now's not a good time. Elsa is expecting me. Joseph snuck out again. I have to tell Elsa."

"How long are we going to keep doing this? Secretly meeting each other?" Aesir asked.

Anna was silent. She understood how Aesir felt. "Be patient for a little while longer…please, Aesir. The last guy I introduced to her; she froze the entire kingdom. I'm just waiting for the right moment. I want her to accept you. Being in the Royal Guard will help you earn her trust. Focus on your duties and give Elsa time to warm up to you. Okay?"

Aesir exhaled deeply. He understood perfectly, but that didn't make the whole thing any less frustrating. Anna exited the closet cautiously and Aesir followed and headed back to parlor before Anna could say anything else.

Anna returned with a nervous face as she approached Elsa. "Okay. Don't get mad, but-" She whispered in Elsa's ear. Everyone in the room jumped when Elsa immediately stood, "HE WHAT?!" The room got very cold as Elsa stormed for the door to find their son. Kristoff quickly caught up with her and grabbed her arm and Anna blocked her path. "Out of my way you two," Elsa commanded.

"Elsa, try to calm down," Anna encouraged, holding her hands out before Elsa to halt her.

"It's my fault, Elsa. I told him too many stories about exploring the wilderness while I was his age. It's my mistake. I'll talk to him. Let's just get through this ceremony," Kristoff confessed and gently tried to guide Elsa back to the throne. Elsa calmed slightly but was still cold and regal. "I guess I'm sleeping in the parlor tonight," Kristoff muttered which Elsa overheard.

Anna stood by Elsa in Joseph's stead. City officials and family members of those joining the Royal Guard were gathered. Musicians played ceremonial music with trumpets, informing everyone that the ceremony had started. One by one, each recruit individually came before the King and Queen of Arendelle. Finally, Aesir entered and knelt before the thrones and gave Anna a smile and a wink. Anna blushed with a smile and shook her head, silently telling him to behave himself. Their subtle gestures to each other weren't so obvious to others since no one except Elsa and Kristoff knew the two were secretly dating. Elsa was amused by Anna's attempts to keep their relationship a secret, especially from her older sister. She didn't let on she already knew.

Elsa stood with Kristoff before Elsa drew the royal ceremonial sword and the two faced each other and looked at Aesir as they held the sword together with one hand and tapped his shoulders and head gently with the blade.

"I charge you to be brave and loyal," Kristoff said.

"I charge you to be just and honest," Elsa said.

"Protect this kingdom and those who dwell in it, as it protected you," Kristoff and Elsa spoke together. "Rise, Aesir. Rise a Royal Guard of Arendelle."

Aesir stood and shared a proud smile with Anna. He turned and saw his grandparents clapping and cheering proudly from their spots among the other guests.

Kristoff and Elsa's hands lowered and Elsa walked off without giving Kristoff a second look which made his spirits drop. She's very upset with me. Elsa glanced back at Kristoff whispering something to Kai before leaving. She felt guilty for not saying anything and returned to her office to assign positions to the new Royal Guard recruits. Aesir, especially.

Kristoff walked through the woods, tracking Joseph with one of his dirty clothes that he hid under his bed. Sven gave it a good sniff before following the trail. Kristoff came to a halt and smiled when he found his three-year-old son sleeping comfortably. He sat next to him on the log before poking Joseph in the face with his finger. Kristoff knew how furious Elsa was with Joseph for sneaking out again and knew he had to be stern with him. Kristoff dug deep to harden his heart before grabbing a small rock by his feet and tossing it at Joseph.

"Ow!" Joseph groaned sitting up after the rock hit his forehead. He became shocked when he saw his father looking down at him with an angry scowl. "Papa?!"

"Your mother is very upset Joseph and so am I. As Prince of Arendelle, your mother wanted you at the event. Your presence at important events like that is very important," Kristoff spoke up, allowing his anger to manifest through his upset tone. "When you upset your mother…that upsets me. Do you understand?"

Joseph's eyes began to tear up, "I'm sorry, Papa."

Kristoff looked away to compose himself before reaching down to pick him up and carry him home with Sven right behind them.

In Elsa's office, Elsa sat behind her desk. Her desk was bigger so Kristoff could work on the other side in his chair. Elsa handled most of the royal matters since that is where she thrived. Kristoff aided her whenever he could or whenever she would allow him. She looked up at Aesir who stood before her awaiting his orders. "Aesir, I have a very important position for you. You will be the personal guard to someone I love very much. Their safety will be in your hands. Understand?"

Aesir smiled and bowed his head formally, "Yes, Your Majesty. I understand." Princess Anna's personal guard.

"You will be assigned to my son, Prince Joseph," Elsa said, which caught him off guard. She handed him a document, "This is his itinerary for the week. Ensure he follows it to the letter. You will report to me this time weekly for updated orders. Understood?"

Aesir was silent as he stared at the paper.

"Aesir. Something wrong?" Elsa asked.

"I was hoping-" Aesir began to confess after standing at attention.

"That you could be assigned to my little sister? I think you two have spent enough time together already," Elsa replied firmly, "Dismissed."

Aesir wanted to speak up but held his tongue, remembering very well what she was capable of with those powers of her's. "Your Majesty," he bowed and left the room.

Elsa watched him carefully as he left. Aesir was more subtle about his connection with Anna, while Anna wasn't.

Aesir saw Anna waiting for him outside Elsa's office. Aesir handed her the paper, trying his best to hide his disappointment because he was ashamed of himself. The Royal Guard was perhaps the noblest profession in Arendelle and he joined so he could be closer to Anna. What kind of a man are you? "I've been assigned to Prince Joseph."

Anna could read the disappointment in his body language but quickly shared a silver lining, "This is good, Aesir. Elsa is entrusting her son to you. This is your chance to win her trust and favor."

"She already knows, Anna," Aesir spoke up, "I don't know how she found out about us. Maybe the rumors are true and Elsa really can see everything with her magic. She's trying to separate us. She doesn't approve of me being apart of your life. Never has."

Anna was about to encourage him and assure him everything was okay, but Elsa spoke up from inside her office, "Anna." Aesir left and Anna entered the office. Elsa was looking out the window in a regal pose with her hands joined at her waist.

"You called me, Elsa?" Anna asked to break the silence. Elsa turned to her and smiled a chilling smile before getting close to Anna and exposing the hikey on her neck that she tried to cover. Anna looked into Elsa's eyes.

"Did you really think you could hide your 'meetings' with him a secret from me?" Elsa asked, pulling out some make up from her dress and dabbed it over the love bite and blended it in with the tone of Anna's skin.

"How long have you known?" Anna asked, realizing it was pointless to try and hide it anymore.

"I've been keeping a close eye on you two," Elsa smiled slightly. "It was amusing seeing you two try so hard to keep your relationship a secret. I didn't want to intervene unless I absolutely had to. I love you, sis. I want you to be safe, but I also want you to be happy. I have my happy ending. You deserve one too. I just want the right man in your life. We both know what happened last time."

"Hans. Don't remind me," Anna smiled before they hugged and Elsa whispered, "Take it slow, Anna." Elsa pulled away when she noticed Kristoff standing in the doorway with Joseph who was filthy. Joseph looked up at his father behind him and Kristoff gestured with his eyes to his mother. Elsa softened when Joseph slowly approached him, keeping his eyes on his feet. "I'm sorry, Mama," he sniffled.

Elsa kneeled and hugged Joseph to comfort him, looking up at Kristoff who was also avoiding her eyes. She whispered warmly, holding Joseph's tear stained face, "It's okay. Did you find anything interesting out there?"

Joseph slowly smiled and nodded, feeling better since his mother was showing interest.

"I want to hear all about it but it's getting late. Take a bath and head to bead. Okay?" Elsa said.

"Okay, Mama," Joseph smiled, hugging his mother and kissing her on the cheek before heading out. Kristoff watched his son until Joseph left his sight and smiled. His smile disappeared when he looked at Elsa. Briefly he looked away, then back at Elsa, "I'm sorry too." Kristoff left before Elsa could say anything, which made her cover her face with one of her hands and sigh.

"You should talk to him," Anna advised and Elsa left.

Kristoff went to the parlor and sat on the couth in front of the fireplace, rubbing his tired face. Kai entered, "Pardon me, Your Majesty, but Queen Elsa requests your presence in the Royal Chambers."

"Did she say what for?" Kristoff asked, feeling confused.

"I'm afraid not," Kai replied.

"Thank you, Kai. Have a good night," Kristoff said with a smile.

Kai gave a formal bow of his head before leaving for his own home. Kristoff knocked on the door.

"Come in," Elsa replied.

Kristoff opened the door and looked all over the room as he headed to the bed, not seeing Elsa anywhere. "Elsa?"

He heard the door close behind him and he turned to see Elsa in a silk gown with her blonde hair down. Her walk and expression as she approached him was seductive. "Elsa? What's gotten into you?" Elsa pushed him onto the mattress and climbed on top, moving hair behind her ear. "You said you were going to prove something to me. Well…I'm waiting, Troll boy."
