Chapter 2
AN: Hello Peeps. Its has been so long since I have written or updated anything for some time. Glad to still have the passion to write and continue the stories I have in my head of our favorite anime pair. I had this story in my head for a long time from another fanfiction story called the Asylum. You need to go check it out if you have some time. It's a really good read. Anyway, here is another chapter. I hope you are enjoying it as much as I am writing it. Read and Review for more chapters! Enjoy!
The rain was coming down lightly in the autumn season making it chilling this particular morning. As she drove up to the gate of the maximum-security prison, scanning her key card at the gate and drove on through the parking garage. Pulling into a parking spot, she put the car in park. Taking a deep breath to steady her nerves as she brushes her stray black hairs from her face before grabbing her duffle bag in the passenger seat. She collected the keys from the ignition and exited the car before shutting the car door.
She walked the long distance of the car garage in perfect time to see the prison ward exiting the building from working a late shift. She gave the older male a good look over and could see the worry and exhaustion in every cell of his structure. "Good morning, Warden. Another late night at the office again?" She spoke up startling him from his thoughts. "Morning, Higurishi. I didn't see you there. Am I to assume you are here on the case I sent to your father?" He questioned while receiving a nod in return from her. "Yes sir, but I have many questions on the matter." The warden sighs in understanding while placing his aged hand on the bridge of his nose feeling a headache starting to form from the little sleep he had been getting lately. "Come with me, Higurishi and let continue this conversation to my office, please."
She nods her head in agreement and lets him lead the way in to the concrete facility. After different levels of stairs, few swipes of key cards and security check points they made it to the warden's office. His office wasn't anything special out of the normal type business office she has seen over the years: a few decent office guest chairs in the middle of the room, couch up against the wall and big wooden desks with office desk chair behind it. The warden extends out his hand in the air for her to sit while walked behind his desk. They both sit in their chair comfortably and look forward to address each other.
She reaches into her bag and pulls out the folder previously given to her by her father and opens it up to take glance at it again before addressing him. "How long has prisoner 0000 been staying here at this facility?" She asked him making direct eye contact with the warden. He blinks a few times before starts to explain with his chin resting on his hands and his elbows on the desk. "The demon has been here for quite a few decades from what I know. I know I have been employed here at this prison for 40 years and he has been here for at least that long. He is unstable, Kagome. He speaks in tongues and unclear thoughts like riddles or something of that sort. I have never heard of a demon going insane before but I would say even they aren't invisible. I want you to observe him and see what you can make of this. Are you up for the challenge?"
Kagome blinks a few times before beginning to filter the information while taking another glance at the paperwork in the folder. Over looking the pages, she takes notes in her head about some of the key words in the reports. "It states here that he might be schizophrenic. Can you elaborate on this?" She questioned looking back up at him. She could see the fear and uncertainty in his eyes while swallowing the lump in his throat. "The demon is talks to himself and sometime appears to have conversations with others in the corner in his cells. Talking about its all his fault and everything he touches dies. He likes to call himself the Killing Perfection."
She narrows her eyes at this information while glancing again at the reports trying to make sense of this. She pulls out a photo from the folder for the ward to see. "The demon is known as The Western Lord of Japan from the feudal era. His character is one of nobility and honorable actions. He is a strategist of the bloodiest wars and fair ruler of everyone he governs. His birth name is Sesshomaru." The warden gasps at this information, eyes bulging out his head. He would never would have thought someone like this demon was still living and breathing to this day but then again, he did know of old nobility demons were still around.
Composing himself, she continues, "I would like to observe him myself and see what can assist him anyway I can." He nods in agreement pulling out a remote was his desk draw and turns on security motors to his right. In the middle large one was live surveillance from his cell. She blinks a few times still watching the screen. There is was like he has aged a day since she last saw him. The long silver hair, the pale skin, the magenta marks on his cheeks of the crest moon on his brow and the piercing golden eyes in the dark are just like she remembered. For moments on ends he sat on his bunk in the ceil with cell feed being quiet when he softly spoke in that calm chilling voice give shiver up her spine. "I killed everyone single one, the blood never disappears. They never desired their fate but they got it anyway." He began to chuckle when he looks up at the camera with the eyes of a killer who has lived through the horrors. Its scared her to the bone. Something was seriously wrong with him. In all the time she has known him she has never seen this before and she was determined to get to the bottom of it all.
No breaking eye contact from the motor, she states, "Take me to him right now." The warden gulped, "Are you sure, Higurishi? I know what is follow in his behavior…." She interrupts him, "Now!" She stands from her chair making eye contact with him daring her to argue with her so he stood up and walked out of the office in tow.
Entering the elevator down the hall from the warden's office, he clicks the basement level and doors close behind them both. The chimes from the elevator's floors seemed to last forever when finally it came to the basement level and the doors open. They exit calmly entering the concrete hall of the heavy guarded level. At the end of the hall the warden pointed at, "That the cell he occupies. The guards will assist you from here." She turned to him with a questionable look in her blue eyes. "I will not be joining you but I will be watching from the guard station nearby for security measures."
She nods her head and continues down the hallway without him. She holds up her government id to the facility guard posted as the prison's cell door. They hesitate once looking her over questioning the liability of her before unlocking the door letting her enter.
The cell was cold hard and barely let any light in the square box the demon called home for many years. It took a moment for her blue eyes to adjust to the darkness, but it didn't matter because his 6'3'' body structure for where he sat on his bed bunk. His hand was clapped together under his chin and supported by his elbows on his knees. Its was so odd seeing him wearing a modern white shirt with the number 0000 on the front right corner the shirt and white pants. His golden eyes glowed in the dark piercing her blues eyes while her ear picking up him lick his lips before asking quietly, "Tell me what brings a human visitor to my quarters today?" She quivered slightly from hearing him in person speaking to her. He was quite horrifying even worst now then he was in the feudal era. Back then at least he was sane not he seemed unhinged and unpredictable. Pure instinct to kill.
She let her instincts guide her with every foot step she took. They haven't let her down yet and she wasn't stop listening to them now. She slowly paced the cell around him looking at the atmosphere while being alert of anything he did, "Trying to figure out what's a creature like yourself cooped up in a place like this? She spoke calm to him letting him hear her velvety voice for the first time. He smirks a little surprised that she heard him and she spoke back with confidence. He chuckles, "Everyone wonders this girl and no one really knows the answer."
She had a feeling that he might not remember who she was so she took note of it know how dangerously destructive of a being he was. She approached him while he sat still and bent down to his eye level to look at him directly being a foot away from him. They stared at each other just studying each other letting him get a sense of her aura as a person. She could see his nostrils flaring taking in her scent and his golden eyes becoming bolder. "Why would you allow yourself to stay in a place like this, Lord Sesshomaru?" He let out a growl at her in warning but not speaking so she continued. "Why would you leave your lands unprotected?" Watching him carefully she saw his golden eyes burn through with blood color she remembered from the battle from so long ago. When suddenly he pounced on her, taking her to the floor by the grasping her throat while sitting on top of growling loudly. "Do not ask questions girls that will get you killed Girl! This Sesshomaru is sure you want to live to an old age." She grabs his wrist with both her hands stare fiercely back into his face; not flinching. "Kagome…my name is Kagome. Even after all these years, I still don't address me by my true name. You are like your brother after all." He hissed back at her, "Don't compare me to that half breed. I will never be close to what he is." She finally decided to release her reiki to gently caress him starting with his arms and down his body; having him growl in the process and eyes widening. "Miko…how?" He questioned her finally realizing her sense and aura. His mind begins to process the memories from all those years ago. His growls soften starting know who she is but not understanding how she was here to this day or where she has been all this time.
"We all have secrets in our lives, Sesshomaru. Mine was I was born 500 years in the future with the jewel of fours souls in my body. I was destined to return it to the feudal era and vanquish it from existences and making sure demon race served. But it would seem I still failed because the Western Line is non existences. So, tell me…. why are you hiding?" He let out quiet mad man chuckle as his eyes bleed blood red all the way through give off the teal outline around the pupil she noticed from the corner of her eye as his head lower to the side of her chin. His long tongue snaked out his lips, sliding over her jawline up to her ear as he whispered darkly, "Because, Miko, they were destined to die due to being tied to me. Everything had to die. That's the way of the demon society. Strong survive and the weak are exterminated. Even with something to protect I still am weak."
As she listened to him speak in her ear, she felt the prickling of his claws raking over her side. "But enough about the past. I can't help but wonder what your blood tastes like or how your limbs with sound when I try to break you. She felt his tongue give another flick on her ear, grazing down her throat when she snapped. Her blue instantly glowed purple and her aura lashed out at him stunning him enough to release his hold on her neck. She ceased the moment rolling their bodies so she was on top of him with her hand clinching around his neck. Her long raven hair was now loose running down her back as his blood eyes roamed over her from below. She was breathing heavy trying to rein in her aura because she let loose more than she normally does. "Well fuck, the beasty in you decided to come out and play Sesshomaru." She stated while staring down at him. "The little miko has become quite the Alpha Bitch, children!" He chuckled out when he shifts his eyes to the corner of the room and he continues. "No…. I am not cheating on your mother…quite saying that!" He roared out suddenly throwing Kagome off him and hitting the concrete wall.
She was stunned with shock from his outburst trying to get her bearings as he paced the other side of the cell shouting. "Quit saying that! You know better than to say that me." Kagome thought for a moment she could hear whispering in the cell with them but she couldn't be sure while trying to get her stable on her feet as she watched. Sesshomaru finally turned to her enraged, "Fine…. you want proof…. here your proof!" He launched himself at Kagome claws dripping with green poison she remembered from so long ago. Her instincts kicked in placing a barrier around her; keeping him from her. He continued to lash out against the barrier, growling and snarling when Kagome drew an ancient symbol in the air with her finger; repelling him backward crashing into the wall behind him. Before he could get back up, she rushed to the cell door, banging on it until the door handle unlocked from the guards. They pulled her through the door way and slammed the door shut. Putting her hand on the door, she said an incantation while drawing another ancient celestial symbol on the door; making is glow a pink outline around the door and all four walls of his cell.
The warden came rushing down the hall at an alarming rate up next to her. He tried to call out her name but she didn't hear him at first few times so he placed his hand on her shoulder. "Kagome…are you alright?" She jumped giving a spark in her aura while breathing hard looking at him with glowing purple eyes. "I'm sorry. I sealed him in his cell. He won't be able to leave unless I personally remove it. Such an ass!" She grumbled out. The warden's eyebrow raises up a little while letting out a breath of his own. "No, its alright. As long as you are ok and it helps with the situation." She nods her head as he continues, "Let get you up to my office and we can have you relax for a moment." She shakes her head, "No I will be collecting my things and I would like to see his things that was collected when he was emitted here in lock up. The warden waves the guards back to their post and waves his hand for her to follow, "Very well."
Following him down the hall and back in the elevator, she revisited the recent situation that just happened in her head. Letting her brain map out one moment seeing a cold calculated old friend to the crazy psycho he was reported to be and she could help but think something more was at play then just him being crazy. Maybe after reviewing what was in lock up of his things, she will be able to piece together more answers than questions.
