Hi again,

I'm sitting up alone at home, waiting for my sister to come home from a nightclub so I decided to write this

I'm sorry if the characters seem a little OOC, but I wanted to explore what form the boogeyman would take it faces with Lucifer and Diavolo, and somehow this was the end result

This was written on a spur of the moment again (sorry) so I'm really sorry if there are any mistakes, if I spot any I'll correct them as soon as I can

I'm probably going to (try) and take a little break from writing fanfics for a little while as I know my workload is about to get pretty heavy and I won't be able to keep on top of everything, but hopefully I'll be back again soon :)

Thank you so much for your support guys, you've all been amazing

I hope you enjoy this fic :)

An Urgent Request

Thud. Thud. Thud. Thud.

Heavy, frantic knocks echoed throughout the House of Lamentation.

Lucifer heaved a sigh as he hurried down the staircase, already cursing the demon who dared to pull him away from his work let.

Thud. Thud. Thud.

Lucifer scowled as he reached the bottom of the stairs and crossed the entrance hall, "this better be important," he muttered under his breath as he opened the door and opened his mouth, ready to give whoever was knocking at this late hour a piece of his mind.

He froze as he found Diavolo standing on the doorstep; instead of his usual excitable demeanour, Diavolo wore a troubled expression.

"Lucifer!" A flicker of relief flashed across the demon prince's face. "Thank goodness!"

"Lord Diavolo?" Lucifer's anger quickly slipped away, only to be replaced with confusion and unease. "What's wrong? Did something happen?"

"I accidentally summoned a boogeyman at the castle," Diavolo told Lucifer in a murmured voice, "I… um… I need your help."

"A boogeyman?" Lucifer gave Diavolo a bewildered stare.

"Please Lucifer, I can't face it on my own." Diavolo frowned. "Will you help me?"

"You're the strongest demon in the whole Devildom, surely you'd be able to handle something as…" Lucifer's sentence faltered as he watched Diavolo avert his gaze and ruffle his hair sheepishly. He cleared his throat with a cough before he spoke up again, "I understand, let's go."

Lucifer stepped out of the House of Lamentation, closing the front door behind himself, and walked beside Diavolo down the path towards the cobbled street.

"How in the Devildom did you accidentally summon a boogeyman?" Lucifer finally asked.

Diavolo gave a nervous chuckle, "I borrowed a game from Leviathan - Doji Maji Memorium, do you know about it?"

"I'm familiar with the game, yes." Lucifer replied stiffly as memories of his time in the virtual high school came flooding back into his mind.

"Well, when I put the game in my Ghenna Station and turned it on, I was playing some sort of horror game instead," Diavolo explained, "I must've forgotten to shut the game down properly and the next thing I knew a boogeyman appeared."

"So this is all Levi's fault?" Lucifer scowled again as he clenched his hands into fists. "I'll deal with him later."

"I think he just put the wrong game away in the wrong case," Diavolo added quickly with another nervous laugh in an attempt to defuse the other demon's anger, "it was probably just an accident."

"An accident that has become yet another problem," Lucifer shook his head disdainfully as rubbed his forehead to help relieve some of his tension.

Lucifer paused for a moment as another thought crossed his mind.

"What about Barbatos?" He asked, quickly falling back into step beside Diavolo. "Surely he would've been able to make light work of this boogeyman?"

"Barbatos went to the human world earlier this evening, we're expanding the Corvo Hotel to another location so he'll be meeting with contractors and going over building plans for the next few days, it's all been planned very suddenly — I was actually going to speak to you about it before tomorrow's council meeting."

Lucifer nodded slowly with a thoughtful hum, "I see, then there's just one more thing I'm confused about. Why did you come all the way to the House of Lamentation? Why didn't you just call or text me?"

"I dropped my phone when I saw the boogeyman," Diavolo admitted with a sigh.

Lucifer regarded the prince with a surveying stare.

What form could the boogeyman possibly take to leave someone as powerful as Lord Diavolo this shaken?

Lucifer tried to shake the thought from his mind.

Lucifer and Diavolo ascended the stone steps of the Demon Lord's Castle.

Lucifer placed a hand on Diavolo's shoulder to stop him as the prince reached for the door handle.

"You should wait outside," Lucifer said in a serious voice, "I'll be back as soon as I've dealt with the boogeyman."

"I can't let you face that thing on your own!" Diavolo protested.

"Lord Diavolo, there's no reason for you to—"

"I'm coming too," Diavolo cut across the other demon with a determined stare.

After a long and searching stare, Lucifer relented with a nod and waited patiently as Diavolo opened the castle doors before he followed in the prince's footsteps.

The pair stepped into the castle's entrance hall with caution as they cast their eyes about themselves in search for the boogeyman.

"Where did you last see it?" Lucifer asked.

"In my bedroom when I was playing the game."

Lucifer nodded in acknowledgment as he began to ascend the marble staircase, "we'll start our search there then."

They shared a glance before Lucifer opened Diavolo's bedroom door and stepped over the threshold with Diavolo close behind him — they stared about the room in anticipation but found no sign of the boogeyman inside.

"It must've moved to another room." Lucifer murmured under his breath as he stepped further into the room, stopping only to stoop down, grab Diavolo's D.D.D from the floor and inspect the device for any damage.

"I wonder where it went." Diavolo's voice was uneasy.

"I doubt we've already passed it," Lucifer mused aloud as he returned to his full height and handed Diavolo his D.D.D, "I'm sure it would've tried to attack us by now if we had." Lucifer pivoted on the spot, crossed the threshold again and began to walk down the hallway while Diavolo hurried to fall into step beside him. "We should keep searching this way."

The pair froze as a low growl emitted from one of the guest bedrooms further along the hallway.

"Looks like we've found our boogeyman," Lucifer nodded towards the door where the growl had sounded from.

He pushed the door open before he and Diavolo peered inside; darkness and a strange fog filled the room, and another rumbling growl came from within.

He spared a moment to quickly recompose himself before he crossed over the threshold, the second he entered the room the fog began to swirl and take shape until it resembled a bright beam of glittering light.

Father. Of course.

A figure materialised within the beam of light and Lucifer's eyes widened in shock as he stared back at himself — it was almost like he was staring into a mirror, the only difference was the six large white wings, celestial garb and halo that his likeness adorned.

"Tch." Lucifer glowered at the angel.

He felt Diavolo moved closer to the other demon's side with an awed expression.

"Lucifer, that's —"

"— nothing more than a bad memory." Lucifer said bluntly. "Let's get this over with already."

Before Lucifer could make his next move, the angel-likeness in front of them burst into flames as it began to twist and morph.

"What the—?" Lucifer shielded his face with his arms as a blast of hot air flew past them, making Lucifer and Diavolo stumble back a few steps.

The two demons watched in astonishment and horror as the angel turned into a towering mass of swirling fire that rose higher and higher to the ceiling — Lucifer could see a pair of glowing eyes and large horns protruded from the centre of the flames as a loud roar filled the room.

Could this be—?

Lucifer's mind quickly connected the dots as he glanced at the other demon over his shoulder.

—Lord Diavolo's!

"Lord Diavolo, step back!" Lucifer yelled as he held out his arm to offer the prince some protection and glared at the fiery mass. "That's quite enough from you!" Lucifer adrenaline coursed through his body as he mustered all of his power; he could feel himself subconsciously shift into his demon form as he did so. "Evil spirit, sinister and foul! Return to the darkness from whence you came! Witness my power and behold your doom, from ashes to ashes, dust to dust…!"

Static filled the air and a purple light emitted from Lucifer's spell, hitting the very centre of the fiery mass.

The boogeyman gave a final roar as the spell connected, making the boogeyman dissipate as embers rained down in the room and fizzled out.

Lucifer shifted out of his demon form as he let out a relieved breath and slowly turned to face an ashen-faced Diavolo.

Diavolo ran his hand through his hair and let out a shaky laugh.

"I'm sorry, Lucifer." Diavolo murmured quietly as he cast his eyes downwards.

Lucifer stared back at the other demon with a perplexed expression, "for what?"

"You confronted that boogeyman so easily… I must look pathetic right now… and to think that I'm supposed to be the future demon king."

Lucifer's expression softened as he surveyed Diavolo closely.

"That last form…" Lucifer spoke in a gentle voice, "… what was that?"

Diavolo remained silent for a moment.

"That was my father." Diavolo admitted in a barely audible voice. "That's why I couldn't face it alone."

"I see," Lucifer gave an understanding nod.

"What about you?" Diavolo asked, finally meeting Lucifer's gaze again. "Are you scared of your past?"

"No," Lucifer shook his head, "I'm scared of ascending to the Celestial Realm and facing my father again."

Diavolo nodded slowly with a pensive expression as they shared an understanding look.

Lucifer withdrew his D.D.D from his jacket pocket, unlocked the device and began to type out a message.

"I'm just texting my brothers to let them know that I won't be returning home tonight," Lucifer explained with a soft smile as he spotted Diavolo's quizzical stare, "I doubt you'd want to be alone after dealing with the boogeyman, after all."

"You're right as always," Diavolo gave a small chuckle, already sounding happier at the other demon's words, "thank you for everything, Lucifer."
