Chapter 1
A strong warrior sat atop of a Chocobo as its feet hit the ground in a smooth rhythm. She was dressed in silver and golden Valkyrie armor; her skirt was adorned in white Chocobo feathers and her shield on her left arm. Her pink hair flowed freely as she rode.
The warrior kept her pace as the ground thudded, causing her to look back. Giant paws thudded as a behemoth took pace. She kept riding, slapping the reigns as her bird took off faster, as the horned beast took chase. Behemoths always took chase and were extremely dangerous. Her mouth opened in surprise as she snapped the reigns as her bird knew they needed to escape.
'Don't look back,' she thought. The bird probably was thinking the same thing as she knew looking back would only slow her down. She showed no visible fear on her face, but the anguish was growing in her chest.
She kept her eyes forward as she snapped the reigns. Her Chocobo kept its speedy pace as she tried to grab her blade from her bird's saddle.
Her bird careened to the side roughly as it ran up the trail into the mountains. Rocks shifted under its feet as she tried to turn enough in her saddle she could grab her sword.
The horned behemoth followed; saliva dripped from its mouth as it found its next meal. Its sharp weapon and giant clawed feet making ease of the ascension of the mountain. The warrior knew she was approaching the top of the hill as the pressure changed, and her bird kept its climb. She looked back as she managed to grip the handle of her precious blade once they made it to the top of the mountain. The long bridge towards safety was there, and she saw the behemoth blocking off her exit.
The beast stomped its feet as it let out a mighty roar, the sound carrying across the mountains in a loud echo. The beast stood still, saliva dripping from its massive maw. However, it slowly rose to its hind legs removing the weapon from its side as it stood with a revving chainsaw-like weapon. It took one step towards her as she countered with her blade. She dismounted from the mighty Chocobo as she slapped it by its hindquarters; as the bird took off towards safety, she attacked.
Her attacks did minimal damage as she was hit by the blade, which cut into the softness of her skin.
She didn't falter, but the giant hulking beast continued to swipe at her. Both blade and warrior became tired until something dark appeared in the sky.
"LEAVE HER ALONE!" a feminine voice yelled. The warrior looked as a massive dragon swooped down from the sky. The newcomer looked down at the scene and was shocked to see a behemoth had a woman down.
"Bahamut, let's show them!" the woman yelled as the dragon swooped down, and before the warrior could react, the newcomer had jumped down on the behemoth using a double-bladed lance to drive it through the beast's skull. The behemoth disappeared in the dust of glittering gold as the warrior lay feeling defeated and useless.
The woman looked at the warrior who held an arm to her wound; she didn't make eye contact with the woman who saved her. This newcomer was dressed in a dragon scale-like armor adorned with fur and pelts. She looked down at the warrior once she stored her weapon, securing it behind her. She reached down towards the warrior, who looked at her hand.
"Are you okay?"
The question caught the warrior off; she looked at the extended hand.
"Come now, don't be shy." She smiled, "You're injured, and I just saved your hide. At least let me help you up."
The warrior felt defeated as she let out a small sigh, "Thank you…" she said rather meekly. It was quiet and different from her usual demeanor. Often cocky, arrogant, and firm, the warrior sighed and looked up at the extended hand once more as she took it. Pulled to her feet, the warrior looked at the woman who gave her a smile.
"You're strong if you can control a dragon," the warrior said.
"Yeah, I've been around a lot. Not often do I find a warrior dressed in Valkyrie." the woman smiled.
"Well, what do they call you?" The warrior asked.
"I'm Fang," the armored woman smiled.
"Lightning," the warrior said.
Fang reached into her satchel pack and retrieved a spool of bandages. "You're bleeding. At least let me stanch and stabilize your wound."
Lightning looked at Fang and nodded slightly, watching Fang make quick work of her wound, as she felt Fang's mouth close to her arm as she ripped a piece of the bandage tape. She quickly tied the ends of the wrap as Lightning looked at the brunette as she checked it over. She pulled away quickly. "Don't get used to it. You might've saved me from that behemoth, but I don't need you worrying about me anymore."
"Well, it's not often I find a strong Valkyrie. I'd love to join you on a quest. You see, I may be a strong warrior, but I often travel alone. I'd rather travel with someone I can depend on, but also travel with someone who makes my time better. You're sort of mysterious, and I actually want to get to know you better," Fang smiled.
"I'd like that. Not every day do I play this game with someone new, let alone a strong player like yourself. I suppose that's fine," Lightning smiled back.
"I play Eidolon Warriors every day around this time. Maybe we could start a guild together," Fang offered.
"Well, that could happen long as you add me, Fang," Lightning smiled.
"Alright, will do. I'm surprised players like you live dangerously, but not many come to the mountain terrain because of the behemoths. You're crazy. I'd like to get to know you better."
"I'll let you add me then," Lightning responded in her headset microphone, awaiting the new girl Fang's voice to travel through.
She sat back in her computer chair, and within minutes she noticed a friend request pop up on her computer, as she was quick to click accept.
