A/N: Another Teen Wolf story pretty much written because I wanted to write about these two and there's hardly any stories written about them together. It's also my first Isira (which sounds really pretty as a ship name) story.
Warnings: There is the occasional swear word. Also this story is unbeta'd so future apologies for any grammatical mistakes.
Disclaimer: I do not own Teen Wolf and make no money from writing this.

If she was being honest, it all started with lacrosse.

"This is so stupid. I don't see why you don't just say something." Malia remarked in irritation as the two watched the lacrosse practice sitting from a high spot on the bleachers. Kira tried not to focus on a specific player, but her eyes inevitably drifted toward one in particular watching, as he carried his lacrosse stick across his broad shoulders. He watched unimpressed as Scott dragged Stiles over to wheeze and nearly gag away from the other players in peace.

Biting back an irritated sigh Kira went to her number one distraction technique, a conversation change with bright manufactured enthusiasm. "Hey! How's that math tutoring with Lydia going?"

"Boring and don't change the subject. If you don't want to say anything, fine but I don't understand why you don't want me too either. You smell like sad longing and it's distracting. You either find out he's just as interested or if he's not then you seek out a new mate. It's simple."

"No Malia! It's not that simple." Feeling her lacrosse stick creak in her hands as she quickly reigned in her temper. "I don't have a lot of experience with dating, and the experience I do have isn't...great. So I'm not looking to rush into anything or even for him to know. Just...please let me work this out on my own."

She didn't even have that many interactions with him, but ever since he caught her from falling down the stairs which sadly wasn't her first experience with falling down stairs. Kira couldn't deny that her heart had started beating a little faster around him. Despite how abrasive and sarcastic he was with most people, she seemed to be one of the few he reigned it in around.

After a minute or two she felt Malia still staring at her as if working her out and believing this puzzle known as Kira Yukimura might eventually come clear to her. She must have given up, because she said nothing and the two shifted their attention back to the practice. A new freshman was turning out to be surprisingly good giving Scott, Stiles, and Isaac competition. Scott seemed to be trying to hold back his enhanced abilities, while Isaac had no such qualms.

Kira silently cheered to herself, when Scott blocked another shot from getting through. For as rough as the practice had started for him, it seemed like he was turning it around, and it was kinda nice to hear Garrett get shut down and silenced after his mocking comments to Scott earlier.

However that didn't last long, when the new freshman got one in. This encouraged Malia to stand up in protest.

"That was luck!"

Kira let out an embarrassed groan and hid her face behind her lacrosse stick's net. She hated that people were now looking over at them.

"Do Over!" At some point she was just going to have to get used to the things Malia did but that wasn't going to be today.

"Sweetheart this is practice, there are no do-overs." Coach said, casting a quick glance at them.

"10 bucks on Scott and Stiles."

"I'll take that action." He countered pointing at Malia causing her to smile. "Get back in there Liam!"

What happened next had her wincing in sympathy as Liam got completely flipped and landed hard on his back. Scott and Stiles volunteered to help him off of the field and bring him to the nurse, while coach started barking out running drills to the other players, getting so frustrated. That he hurled the ball he was holding randomly straight into the bleachers. A direct path for Malia's face.

On instinct Kira quickly brought up her stick to catch it. Malia and Kira kinda stared at each other in surprise along with Finstock, before he called out for her to pass it back. Kira did it with a bit more force then she thought she used and nearly hit him with a gut shot if it wasn't for someone catching it at the last minute before it could land.

Isaac took the ball in his hand, studied it for a second before tossing it up to catch it then turning to look at Kira. "Nice throw." He acknowledged with a smirk before handing coach the ball, breaking him out of his stunned state.

"Hey, someone ask her if she's ever played lacrosse!"

Joining lacrosse is definitely...interesting. On the one hand she loves that she's kinda great at it and gets to hang out with Scott and Stiles. On the other it means having close up interactions and playing with Isaac who so far interactions had tended to end with her either embarrassing herself or making her ramble even worse. Not to mention dealing with Rick, a senior she's discovering rapidly is pretty sleazy.

"Hey Kira," He said, wrapping an arm around her and smirking, as the two were the last ones walking off the field once practice had wrapped up. "If you ever want to change in our locker room just let me know. I'll keep the others away." Kira felt instantly uncomfortable and tried to slide out underneath his arm.

"Um thanks Rick, but I can change in the girl's locker room."

He moved to place his arm back. "Oh come on don't be like that. We're now teammates aren't we?"

Suddenly he was ripped away from her and pushed back as someone moved between them. Kira felt like she barely blinked, before there was a new person stepping in front to cover her.

"Hey Kira. Is there a problem here?"

Kira gulped trying to defuse the situation. "Uh no problem. Just was going to head home for the night."

"Yo what the hell Lahey? What was that?" Rick snapped walking up to him.

Isaac laughed without a trace of humor staring straight back. "That's funny because I was thinking the same thing."

"Isaac, it's fine. Everything's cool. Let's just go." Grabbing his arm and hoping that would work and it seemed to as he let her tug him forward by the forearm, until Rick had to get in the last word.

"Is he getting like a private show or something?"

Kira could only freeze in dread, breathing stopped for a second. This...was not going to end well. It was two days before the full moon, and from what she heard from the others Isaac while he had an anchor. He didn't always execute the best control. Glancing quickly at his now golden eyes as they flashed she realized she just witnessed the push over the edge.

Believing she had to act before he did anything, Kira immediately tackled him hard, luckily catching him off guard by the unexpected give of his body. She then moved to sit on his chest while bracing both her hands on either side of his head. She bent her head down low trying to keep Isaac's partially transformed face from showing using her long hair as a curtain and therefore keeping his secret from being revealed.

"Please don't change." She urgently whispered a silent plea with wide eyes. "Just focus on your anchor." 'And maybe not trying to kill me,' she added in her head.

A fierce growl ripped out of his throat and his body tensed, but Isaac didn't move, remaining where he was. Kira continued pinning and staring at him hoping he'd stay down and not throw her off. If Rick spoke up now to antagonize him, she wasn't sure this wouldn't turn ugly real fast.

"What the HELL are you three doing?!" Coach Finstock's voice cut in to interrupt them booming across the field. Kira nearly loosened her hold and sagged in relief. "I have a TV dinner waiting for me at home, and I'm not getting paid to supervise whatever the heck this is. So get off the field and go home! You have 3 minutes before I shut off the lights."

Kira stayed where she was, but when she glanced down Isaac was back to normal and Rick was grumbling and stalking away. Jumping back and flushing from her position she offered a hand down to Isaac which he silently took.

"Come on, we should go." Pulling him up while re-grabbing her stuff moving further along toward the exit he still continued to let her lead. It was only once they were off the field, that she dropped her hand.

"I'm sorry." He admitted strangely subdued wrapping his arms around him protectively. "I snapped again. I told Scott I'm working on it around the full moon."

"Hey it's alright! I can't say I blame you. Nights like this have got to be hard to maintain control. Are you okay?" She asked, staring up at him in concern. He gave her another humorless laugh looking tired.

"Pretty sure I should be asking you that."

"I'm fine. You didn't even fight me." 'Thank goodness.'

"I meant for his harassing filled commentary. I'll make sure to punch him next time, when it's not near the full moon."

"Oh," Kira commented feeling surprised. She had actually forgotten about those. "I was just going to ignore him. It's just not worth it to pay people who don't matter that much attention. My dad used to say by feeding into a reaction you give them exactly what they want."

Isaac looked thoughtful before responding. "I really don't have fatherly wisdom to pull from. The best I got is creative threats regarding what he would do to me, if I didn't bring my GPA up or finish every chore on time. I always thought wanting to run me through a cement mixer was one of his more creative ones."

"I'm-"

"Don't apologize," Raising up a hand. "He's dead, and I'm working through it."

Biting her lip Kira was suddenly hit with an idea. "Hey! Do you like Japanese food?" She didn't wait for an answer before continuing. "My parents are making their traditional home made favorites this Friday, and you'd totally be welcome." She was then hit with the thoughts. 'Oh God I just asked him out accidentally without meaning to. I wasn't going to do that, until I knew if he liked me or not!'

When she glanced up at him to gauge his reaction he was smirking slightly. "Is this a date?"

"Um..."

Chuckling softly he leaned down and gave her a quick kiss on her forehead. "Text me the address and time for dinner. Bye Kira."

She was both blushing and smiling. By the time she made it out to wait for her dad before seeing Scott and Stiles leaning back against the jeep and smiling even wider than her. She knew instantly that they'd heard every word, Scott at least looking slightly sheepish at being caught eavesdropping.

"I'm sorry. I gave him the spark notes version. Once I realized what was happening, and that you guys were okay."

"Which isn't even the best version but whatever." Waving a hand dismissively through the air before exclaiming. "Because look who's got herself a date! Up top!"

Kira descended into giggles high fiving the both of them almost too elated to fully believe it herself.

"Of course I fully believe you could do WAY better than Isaac." Ignoring Scott's immediate side glare at that Stiles continued. Kira kept quiet that she'd heard Isaac say the same thing about Lydia doing way better than Stiles. Kira respectfully disagreed, as she thought they complimented each other and were both great. "We should still celebrate with congratulations tacos! You in?"

She smiled, adjusting her duffle bag before reaching for her phone. "Let me text my dad and see if it's okay otherwise that sounds great."

Epilogue*

"I can't tell if it's impressive or disturbing like I mean it feels like it should be gross, but it's also strangely cute so freaking weird." Stiles whispered to Scott, as the two were looking over the backs of their seats at Kira and Isaac the two behind them. Kira who was fast asleep with a flood of drool descending and soaking Isaac's shoulder. The latter who appeared completely unconcerned playing candy crush on his phone.

"If you two idiots wake her, I'll kill you." He mumbled distractedly trying to get to another level.

"You seriously don't care that your shoulder is under flooding alerts?" Stiles asked. Isaac opened his mouth to respond, but Scott beat him to it smugly.

"He doesn't because he finds it adorable." Stiles snickered quietly. They listened to Isaac mutter more threats about running them through with Kira's katanas and if he killed them then he'd get to be the new alpha and a much better one.

"No worries dude secret's safe with us. Just name one of your fox / wolf babies after us and no one will know a thing."

From there that descended the two into a discussion about whether there could be a natural born wolf with kitsune powers. Isaac simply rolled his eyes and glanced fondly down at his girlfriend snoozing on him before kissing her forehead. They were right, because she was adorable.
