Hey! Welcome to my first MHA story! I'm not sure how this is gonna go, or if it will work out in the first place. I'll figure out how to go around with this, and this is a character I've had an idea of for a pretty long time. Please enjoy the story!

"Fate is not equal to all."

It should be. It wasn't equal and I knew that, but I still felt like it should be. Even before quirks had emerged, the fact that fate was not equal to all was one of the things that had stayed constant throughout every year of man's existence. I was one of the many who fate was not kind too.

My father was a man in war, and had only come home from time to time when I was a child, but even then I knew that he was one of the best people in the world. My father would bring me souvenirs from all across the world where he had been, and he would be the best father he could be from far. My father was a medium sized but well built man, obviously someone in the military. His quirk was named "Weapon Space", it was able to let my father reach into anything open, whether it be a pocket or even an open wound, and take out anything that could be called a weapon he had previously stored into his pocket dimension.

Then we had learnt that my father had died in the bravest way possible, taking shot after shot for his squad to let them escape from enemy soldiers while he took every weapon out of his space and emptied their magazines into his enemies, and still not letting anyone pass him.

My mother on the other hand, was very quaint and homey, not liking to have me take risks that could hurt me, or being very overprotective of me in general. My mother was also a great mother, and had a great quirk for being one as well. Her quirk was named "MSMD" or, "Monkey See Monkey Do". Mom was never very fond of the name she had made when she was a kid, but she never changed it because it was "too much work". I myself just think she actually liked the name.

Anyways, my mother's quirk was being able to watch something be done, and being able to do exactly the same as the person she had seen doing the action. She could see someone juggle swords on the tv, and then quickly become able to do what she had seen with perfection. This got her to be hired for many things, so even when my father died she would still be able to pay for our things when any money we had left got low.

My quirk is a mutated mix of my parents quirk, which I aptly named Armory. It allowed me to do what you think a human armory could do, as I could create any kind of armor or weapon from any part of my body, and even be able to create them from a small pocket dimension, from my literal pockets. It also allowed me to do something close to my mother's quirk, as I only needed to see the weapon or armor in action, whether it be in a comic book or a tv show, if I can see it in action, I could make it. The only downsides were that the armor and weapons that I could create had to come from somewhere, so it came from the iron in my blood, so I constantly had to have an iron-rich diet. The other downside is that I couldn't get a weapon from only words, so my old experiment with reading books to gain more designs was a no-go.

I actually get a lot of my looks from my mother, as my eyes are as pale as her own, like all the color was just stripped away from them and was just left with something like a mirror. My hair was mostly a bright blonde from my father, but striped with pale blue streaks from my mother.

I was pretty average with my build, and I was around a height of 5'9, though I don't completely remember from my last visit to the doctor. I was slightly muscular with my muscles able to be seen if looked for, but not prominent on my body. But I also have multiple circular scars littered across my torso and both arms, seventeen scars to be exact. Three on my left bicep, two on my right, then there were five on my stomach, and finally seven on my chest. But we aren't talking about that for now, for now I have to tell you a story.

The story of how I became a hero with my friends.

Oh, I forgot to tell all of you but my name is...

...

...

"Teren Awai! Wake up!"

Teren suddenly bolted up and fell out of his bed, making a loud thump to be heard by his caretaker in the orphanage.

'Ah, damn...that dream again…'

The boy grunted and placed a hand on his face, taking in a shaky breath and letting it out before he sat up and shook his head.

'No need to worry about it for now..'

Teren sighed as he stood straight up and started getting ready, putting on a pair of jeans (with a Best Jeanist logo on it), a cyan t-shirt that plainly said 'I'm tired' with black print on the front, and added on his plain black sneakers. Perfect for today.

There was another yell from downstairs from his room and he sighed. 'Looks like Caretaker's already not having a good day. I better go help my siblings.."

The part-blonde yawned and headed down the stairs to go placate the energetic caretaker of the orphanage, and as he did he heard his energetic siblings squabbling again.

"Oi! Everyone, get to the dining room so we can start breakfast! Hurry it up!" Teren yelled out to his siblings, who immediately quieted when they heard the boy's voice. "We can deal with whatever has got you guys so riled up this early in the morning after breakfast.

He got an instant reply.

"Okayyyy!" One of the children groaned out, accidentally making all the other kids groan out with the same annoyance.

Teren only chuckled and shook his head, letting all of the kids file out of their rooms before he followed them into the big dining room. Waiting there with a small scowl on her face was Caretaker, as they all were supposed to call her. Nobody actually knew Caretaker's name, not even Teren, even though Teren had been there the longest, for a full nine years.

Caretaker was a pretty big woman, around 6 foot, and decently muscular as well. She was imposing and almost always had a scowl on her face, but she was always gentle with the kids, and she usually had a smile when she was having a good time with the kids around her.

Teren shook his head to get his head out of the clouds and started watching the kids get down into the seats they normally sit down in, then once they were all settled down he grabbed a platter and started handing out food. Since Teren had been sent here all those years ago the teenager had been doing this day by day, taking care of his siblings and watching said siblings get adopted one after the other. Nobody would take him anymore, he was too old and people thought he was just a random rowdy teenager with a dangerous quirk.

But this sat fine with Teren, as he liked it here. He could help everyone in his self-christened family.

Once he had finished handing out food to everyone, even to Caretaker and himself, he sat down and put his hands together.

"Ready everyone? What do we say?" Teren rhetorically asked the children with a slight smile. He counted down from three before taking a breath in and almost yelling,

"ITADAKIMASU!"

The part-blonde chuckled at the kids enthusiasm, then he started eating for himself as well after murmuring the well known phrase for himself.

"Teren-nisan! What high school are you planning to go to? Shiketsu? Ooh! Maybe UA!" After the kids heard the name of the prestigious high-school they all turned to Teren and bombarded the poor boy with questions.

"When is the examination for UA?!"

"Are you really going to be in UA, Nisan?!"

"Do you have to train for UA?! How hard would you have to train?!"

"Isn't that like...really really hard to get into?"

"Nisan's gonna be a hero? I wonder if he'll meet All Might!"

"Aren't I looking amazing?"

That last one came from a slightly haughty looking child, one that had a pretty...interesting personality. His quirk is that he could create sparkles that can come from anywhere on his body.

Teren sighed at the complete craziness of the children he calls his siblings, then he put a hand up, silencing the kids quickly.

"I don't know what school I'll be going to, and nobody has given any sheets or forms for me to show what school I want to go to. But...if I do, I'll promise you guys that I'll try my best to get into UA. If nothing else, I'll do it for you guys."

Teren gave a small smile, as the children cheered and went back to eating, talking about their favorite heroes. Teren didn't really care about heroes that much, they didn't help from keeping these kids with their families. There was only one hero who the teenager really cared about, but he didn't even know his name. All he could remember was the man had long black hair and looked ragged, he was dressed in all black and had a weird looking long scarf wrapped around his neck. The scarf was the most prominent out of anything about him.

He saved Teren, and even though he wasn't able to save his mom, he was able to save the blonde boy. So, the boy respected the hero for trying his best to save his family.

Teren was knocked out of his thoughts of his hero by Caretaker softly bonking him on the head with a stiff hand.

"With a promise like that, you can't let that go to waste now can you Teren?" she chuckled. For the first couple years of the blonde kid being in the orphanage, Caretaker had always called him

'Awai-san' then it was 'Teren-kun' and now that they had known each other for so long it was just 'Teren'.

"Yeah...I'll have to try my hardest for them." The young boy agreed then he smiled at Caretaker and continued eating, not seeing the small frown that flashed across her lips.

After breakfast all the kids had to be dressed and gotten ready for school, and of course the teenaged boy was helping all of his siblings to get ready and onto the buses for school, only just finishing getting ready himself and quickly walking to school.

School was an...unpleasant experience for Teren. His quirk was good and versatile, but who would want to be friends with a kid who makes weapons?

That was all they focused on. He made weapons, that's it. They always forgot that Teren had another side to his quirk, or his armor part. Nobody ever thinks about the part that can protect people, only something that attacks.

Who would ever want someone like that right..? Who would want a kid who's quirk only inspires violence?

That is what Teren was made to believe by his classmates, and even though he knew it wasn't true, the words still got to the young boy and sometimes Teren believed it himself. That he was a villain. That he had gotten his mother killed, and that's why he was living in an orphanage.

It wasn't true-

It can't be true-

But it didn't matter much. Teren could take anything they could dish out. He can protect as well as attack right? He'll make good on his quirk, and show everyone that they were wrong about him.

"It's time to pick what high school you guys go to! Or well, since I know you all want to be heroes, pick out a hero school for the future!"

Or...maybe after he gets out of this class. He'll show everyone later.

After a couple of minutes everyone finished up with the small sheets of paper and had handed it in with the teacher silently reading over all of them over while the teens in the class chattered away, with Teren reading his comics in the background of the class.

People all over the class were showing off their quirks, some were mutations, like a chubby and round guy named Tsubasa who was flapping his scaled red wings, and some others were emitter types, like the pale brown haired kid in the middle of the class as he sat around showing off his quirk that let him shoot out small pellets from his fingers. Even the transformations were getting some love, with a couple kids switching body parts into different things, like a robot arm or an animal limb.

Nobody really bothered Teren today, they were all too happy to even notice the so-called 'villain' as he minded his own business.

Suddenly the teacher unfocuses from his work and chuckles before nodding his head.

"I was right. All of you want to go to UA and become heroes!" He laughed, putting his open hands up to the ceiling while Teren's classmates cheered and celebrated -for what? They weren't even in the hero course-. Then the kids slowly stopped laughing and came to a realization all at the same time.

'That means the villain wants to go to UA too!'

Teren on the other hand got a really bad sense of foreboding buzzing in his head before he looked up from his comic and into the faces of his many angry and scared looking classmates.

"...Yes?"

And with his question the room exploded into furious chaos, all at the one teen who did nothing wrong, and was wrongly judged.

"You think you can try and get into UA with your quirk, villain? What the hell?!"

"Stay away from the hero school or you'll get arrested, Villain."

"Or maybe, go there to GET arrested you fucking criminal."

Villain, Criminal, Arrested. All bad words, directed towards me.

Villain. I'm not a Villain. Villains killed my mom. Villains killed my dad. I'm not a villain. I'm not. Not a villain. No. Not at all.

A villain. Villain. VillainVillainVillainVillainVillainVillainVillainVillainVillainVillainVillainVillainVillainVillainVillain-

Teren was shot back into his anxious reality by the bell ringing, and with him literally being saved by the bell, he stood up, grabbed his stuff from the side of the desk and almost ran out of the room.

The poor boy was hyperventilating and seemed on the verge of passing out. Luckily for him, he didn't need to go very far because that was the bell of school ending, and he quickly got out of that suffocating place.

Teren shuffled away and stumbled into an alleyway, gulping in the air and sitting down, trying his best to breathe slowly and get it under control.

Suddenly there was a very warm hand on his shoulder and a calm voice trying to get him to calm and breath. After a few minutes, Teren slowly calmed down and got his breathing under control. Then he looked up at the helpful person who had helped him though one of his worst panic attacks and felt his eyes widen.

It was a guy.

A guy with a lot of scars.

The guy was tall, and was covered in what seemed to be burn scars, warped and off-color skin wrapped around his chin, neck, and even stretching almost down to his chest. It was even under his eyes, almost like he had constant eye-bags.

He was wearing a worn down black jacket, a ripped t-shirt, baggy jeans, and worn down dress shoes.

And then Teren reacted.

"Ah...thanks for helping me there...uhm.."

"Dabi."

"Dabi-san...cool, uhm...thanks for helping me out there, and I'm sorry for intruding on anything, if you were doing anything." Teren mumbled, letting his panic fade away as the newly christened Dabi snorted slightly.

"It's not a problem, kid. Used to get those when I was younger too, so I know how to deal with 'em. Also, look at me kid. What do you think you could have intruded on?" The burned man chuckled.

"Well...erm...fair enough I guess. I'm Teren Awai. Sorry for not introducing myself quicker." The blonde and blue haired boy stuttered, seeming to get one more chuckle out of Dabi.

"It's fine, kid. I've had my fair share of panic attacks. It's nice to have someone help out right?"

"Yeah, you're right! T-thanks Dabi-san!"

Slowly the boy made it to his feet and finally examined his possible friend. Now that Teren was actually looking at Dabi closely he could see the burned man's bright turquoise eyes, and he could see how gnarled and burnt Dabi's purple skin was.

"You okay now kid? I kinda wanna make sure before I go."

"...You don't look like a guy that gets told this much, but thank you Dabi-san. Thanks for helping me. You didn't have to, but you did. Thank you." Teren thanked his savior with a small smile.

Dabi's eyes widened slightly and the burned man nodded slightly, the look in his eye appreciative, but slightly awkward.

"It's..not a problem kid. I'll see you later I guess?"

Teren nodded immediately and vigorously, happy to possibly be in contact with his new friend. Dabi smiled slightly at the blonde and walked away into the dark alleyway, throwing a waving hand over his shoulder.

After that interesting interaction Teren headed back to the orphanage, now in a happier mood than before, and had a nice dinner with Caretaker and the rest of his siblings. Suddenly the blonde stood up at the dinner table and took a breath before declaring his reason to be a hero.

"Everyone! I know you have your expectations for me to become a hero, and so I'll try and live up to those expectations as much as I can! Thank you for believing in me!"

There was silence for a moment, as the usual big brother of the orphanage would always be more on the quiet side, only being commanding when he had to actually take up a professional persona and get his siblings to listen to him, but now he was showing a new side to himself. A side where he is actually excited and completely serious about doing something (slightly) for himself.

After the shocked moment of silence from the children and Caretaker there were cheers all around the table at their brother's declaration, much to Teren's shock and happiness.

The next couple of months were...hectic to say the least for the blonde and bluenette, with news of a green haired teen, who looked to be the same age as himself, running into a situation to attempt to save another kid (a blonde one this time) from a villain who seemed to be made out of sludge and slime.

Teren's classmates were horrible, and school was just as miserable as always, but with a fire burning in his heart to become a hero, he blotted out the increasingly more violent and angry comments and threats from his classmates and focused on his studies and training.

The blonde teen's experience with Dabi had helped him immensely, as having a person help you from a panic attack and even be friendly afterwards did wonders for his happiness, but even though he could never find anything about his savior, Teren always hoped that he could talk to the burnt man once more.

There wasn't a lot going on with the blonde and bluenette, aside from training in abandoned warehouses and trying his best in his normal day to day life, before a very odd day occurred for the boy.

Teren was jogging around town as a cooldown from his exercising of the day, when he heard sounds of clanking and metal being dragged around in another abandoned warehouse, though this one was filled with, you guessed it, metal and machinery.

The teenager decided to inspect the slight disturbance to the usual quiet of his city of Musutafu, and what he found was not what he expected. What he expected was something shady going on, or even just some people paying for metal, but what he actually found in there was a pink haired girl with her back turned away from the teenager, and was frantically going around, grabbing metal and adding it onto a machine of some sort.

Then Teren walked inside of the warehouse, looking confused as he did, and wondered who this mysterious girl was. The teenager coughed into his hand, prompting the pinkette girl to freeze and whirl around, yellow eyes locking onto the boy's pale ones.

"Hey! Who are you and why are you here?" She then looked closer and glared. "It's not to steal my babies is it?" At this, the girl almost growled. Teren was confused, and rightfully so.

"Wha- babies?! Why would I ever want to steal children. Also, I came here because I heard sounds that don't normally come from an abandoned warehouse. So before I introduce myself, who are you and why are you here in the first place? And why the hell are you talking about babies in the first place?" The blonde pelted then pinkett with loads of confused questions, which the pinkette, to his utter surprise, took all of those questions in stride.

"Hmph! If you're not here to steal my babies then fine. My name is Mei Hatsume, my quirk's name is Zoom, and I'm here because it's the only place I could find that would let me work on my babies in peace!" The newly christened Mei Hatsume stated with slight pride. "Now tell me who you are!"

"Well alright then. I'm gonna guess your babies are your inventions. Odd. but okay. My name's Teren Awai, my quirk's name is Armory. Nice to...meet you I guess." The blonde and bluenette shrugged

Mei studied him for a moment then suddenly had a manic grin on her face, like she just had a great idea.

"Armory!? That sounds like a great quirk that I can use! What does it do?"

"That you can- eh?! So blunt! Fine, fine. My quirk allows me to create weapons and armor of any type and kind as long as I visually see it in combat or just in use."

Mei almost had stars in her eyes now as she grabbed the teenager's arm and started dragging him, personal space be damned.

"That's perfect! My babies count as armor, but with extra capabilities! Yes, you're perfect!"

Mei cackled like a madwoman and Teren wondered for the first time what he was getting into, and he would soon be wondering about it constantly.

Yes! First chapter is finally done! It took a couple weeks to do this, mainly because I'm lazy as all hell and I had no motivation. I'll try and update this as much as I can, but I'm going to finish this one! I actually have plans for this story sometimes!

Also, not sure how beta readers work, so if someone could explain sometime, that would be great! Anyways, thanks for reading this and I hope you like the next chapter! I'm already working on it, and I'm aiming for each chapter to be longer than the last. Have a good day everyone!
