There it was. As pink and magnificent as she always imagined it would be. Alfea. Samara took a deep breath and stepped through the gate. The square was buzzing with the noise of nervous and excited girls.

"Okay where to sign up…" Samara muttered to herself.

She looked around until she saw a small line forming in front of a not so nice looking woman.

Taking a good grip on her suitcase, she was just about to walk up there. A blow to her shoulder made her tumble forward.

"Hey watch it!"

Two girls who had bumped into her looked back for a second before running along, giggling loudly.

Before Samara had any chance to move, her phone rang. She answered the call and the face of a young man showed on the screen.

"Hi Sky." Samara sighed.

"Wow you look particulary happy on your first day of school." Sky said. "And don't call me by my own name, you know it's Brandon now."

Samara rolled her eyes. "Sorry I forgot, Brandon." "I still don't get why you two are doing this."

"I just want to be normal during my time at Red Fountain." Sky said.

"We are the prince and princess of Eraklion Brandon." "We don't get to be normal." "Now listen I have to sign up, I'll call you back later."

"Okay, but seriously, you had such a hard time convincing our father to let you go to this school, try to have fun okay?"

"Okay I will." Samara said with a small smile.

She shoved her phone back into her pocket as she joined the line.

"Name?" the woman holding a clipboard asked sternly."

"Samara of Eraklion."

There was a few seconds of silence.

"All seems to be in order, please join the other girls in the front of the school and wait for the Headmistress."

Samara nodded and did as she was told. There were a lot of other girls already crowded in front of the main entrance.

"I sure hope they have a greenhouse here." One girl with long light brown hair said. "I tried to look it up but there isn't much to find about Alfea."

Oh thank god, seems I'm not the only one who doesn't know a thing about this place.

"Your attention please!" The woman with the clipboard said.

The rumour died down almost immediately. Everyone looked towards the main entrance. Slowly the doors opened and an elderly woman walked outside.

"Welcome girls, welcome to Alfea school for fairies." The elderly woman said. "My name is Headmistress Faragonda." "You have already met Miss Griselda."

The woman with the clipboard bowed her head by the mentioning of her name and looked around with a stern face.

"She is Assistant Principal and Head of Dicipline." Faragonda continued. "Any violation of the rules and you will be reporting to her."

There were some whispers going through the group of fairies but one stern look of Miss Griselda and it died down immediately.

"Now for the rest of the staff…" Faragonda said.

The sound of footsteps made everyone turn around to see a small group of people making their way up to the front next to Faragonda. Headmistress Faragonda began introducing everyone but Samara noticed that she wasn't paying attention anymore.

Her eyes kept wandering to the same person each time she tried to focus on the introduction of the teachers. There was a man standing amongst the teachers. He was small, with long brown hair. She was certain that she had never seen him before but still, there was something about him.

Suddenly Samara felt a hand on her shoulder.

"Did you hear me?"

She forced her eyes to break contact with the man to see the girl with the long light brown hair staring at her.

"Sorry…"

The girl smiled. "I asked if you want to go in together." "I hate large groups of people…"

She eyed the entrance nervously. Everyone was now pushing their way into the school. The teachers were already out of sight.

"Yes no problem." Samara said.

"I'm Flora by the way."

"Samara."

She nervously waited for a response but there was none. Flora was too busy scanning the large information board for her roomnumber.

"Oh how wonderful, we are in the same dorm." Flora said.

"Really?"

For the first time since she had arrived Samara actually felt her nerves calm down.

"Yes, come on let's meet our other roommates." Flora said excited.

She took Samara by the hand and together they searched the halls for their room.

"It should be somewhere around here." Samara said while looking at the number of each door they passed.

"This is it." Flora said as she opened the door.

"Hello everyone!" Flora said.

She was met with silence.

"Seems we are the first to arrive." Samara said.

"Oh well, that gives me time to settle my plants." Flora said.

"Your wha…"

Before Samara had a chance to finish her sentence, Flora snapped her fingers. Three large trunks appeared out of nowhere, filled with all sorts of flowers and plants.

"Okay than…"Samara said.

Flora walked through the living room, reading the signs on the outside of the doors out loud.

"Musa and Tecna…" "Stella of Solaria." "Oh they don't mean the princess of Solaria do you think?" "Could you imagine a real princess in our dorm?"

She turned back to Samara expectantly but when she did not respond went on reading the next sign.

"Samara of Eraklion…"

Samara felt her cheeks turn red. A few seconds of silence went by.

"Flora and Varanda of Callisto." "Oh my…I am sharing my room with the princess of Callisto."

"Better get your plants sorted out before she gets here." Samara said. "Wouldn't want to scare away your roommate the very first second she steps through the door."

She pointed at one of the larger plants which had its vines slowly reaching for Samara's feet. Flora quickly grabbed the pot of said plant and walked into her room, muttering angry words.

"…told you to behave!"

Samara smiled and walked towards her own room. She was glad that she had a room of her own, but wouldn't have mind sharing a room with Flora. God she hoped the rest of the girls were equally nice. She threw her suitcase on top of the bed and opened it.

"Oh you've got to be kidding me!" Samara said.

On top of her regular clothes lay a dress. A dress that Samara had tried desperately to leave back home. She grabbed it and pulled it out of the suitcase. It was big, had different shades of blue and gold…it was big.

She threw the dress in the back of the closet and continued unpacking.

"…told you it would work."

Samara stopped for a moment and peeked through the door. Two girls had entered the living room. One of them she recognised immediately. It was Stella, princess of Solaria.

The other girl looked around with big eyes.

"Oh hi." Flora said as she walked out of her own room. "Nice to meet you, my name is Flora."

"I'm Stella." The princess said.

"Hi I'm Bloom…uh I mean Bloom is a pretty name but not mine…" the red haired girl stammered. "My name is Varanda."

Samara frowned.

"And this is Samara." Flora said while dragging her to Stella and Varanda.

"Well as you are already introducing might as well join in." A blue haired girl said as she walked into the living room. "I'm Musa."

"And I'm Tecna." A purple haired girl said as she came in just behind Musa.

"Well I guess this is everyone." Flora said. "We better get a move on if we want to finish unpacking before the ball starts."

"The ball, what ball?" Samara asked.

"Uh the welcoming ball." Tecna said. "To welcome the new students from Alfea and Red Fountain." "Headmistress Faragonda talked about it during her speech."

"Yeah about that…" Varanda said. "I need to find a dress…"

"You don't have anything to represent your home planet?" Stella asked.

Represent your home planet? How much of this speech did I miss?! Samara thought.

"I have my dress all ready to go, but to prove how much of a good friend I am, I will go shopping with you." Stella said seriously.

"I will come too, I need an upgrade for my phone." Tecna said.

"Can't start the schoolyear without the latest tech can you Tecna?" Musa asked with a grin.

"Oh like you aren't tagging along for a new set of headphones."

The two girls left the room laughing with Stella and Varanda following them.

"Are you coming?"Flora asked. "It might be nice hanging out with the other girls to get to know them."

"No thanks, I have to call my brother, let him know I settled in alright." Samara said.

Flora closed the door behind her.

Samara grabbed her phone, fell on her bed and dialed her brother. Seconds later the face of a different guy showed on the screen.

"Brandon?" Samara asked. "Why are you picking up Sky's phone?"

"Oh hey Samara, Sky is a bit busy right now…"

Brandon turned the phone showing Sky busy trying to pull a suit over his head.

Samara laughed. Brandon turned the screen back to him.

"Is that your Royal Guard suit he is trying to get into?"

"I told him it wouldn't fit."Brandon said.

"So I guess you are wearing Sky's costume tonight?" Samara asked.

"Yep I'm afraid so." "But not before we discover Magix, wanna come?"

"No thanks, I'd rather discover Alfea first." "This place is huge."

"Okay, see you tonight."

"See you tonight Brandon."

The screen on the phone went black. Samara tossed it aside and looked at the clock on the wall. Three hours before the ball, that gave her plenty of time to roam a bit around the school and see what it had to offer.
