Chapter 1: A New World

Deep inside an unknown forest a bright light flashed and from it, something emerged, this thing looked to be a young teenager, a human female and considered cute by some. She had crimson red eyes, black hair that was cut short, wearing a dark red hoodie, black shorts and black army boots.

This human that came from the light was not weak by any standard, in comparison to most beings, she might as well be a god, her technological prowess beyond anything imaginable by the habitants of this earth like world.

She opened her eye upon arrival and looked at its surrounding area, scanning for anything that may have posed a threat. After determining nothing had a wish to kill her, she sighed.

"Where the heck have I ended up?" She asked herself, both in curiosity and annoyance. Looking around again, she sighed a second time before her eyes slightly lit up for a second, somehow making a pump action shotgun appear out of thin air. "Lets go." She began to walk in a seemingly random direction.

\\\

"How big is this freaking forest I have been walking for forever!" I screamed into the air, I was sick and tired of this place, it was a big ass forest, not so much that i'd want to go back to the battlefield, but still really annoyed. "Hey ATLAS, how long until we reach an exit?" I asked my A.I.

"Based on the speed we've been flying and where the nanobots found the city place, like 10 minutes, somewhere around there I guess?" A.T.L.A.S, A Totally Legendary Artificial Someone, that was the name I gave him, my little artificial intelligence I found.

"Oh come on!"

He had azure hair tipped with black, sky blue eyes, short sleeve blue shirt, baggy jeans, sneakers, glasses, and had a digital look on him making him look like a hologram. "Alright fukko, just take the obvious solution, you know we could just fly really high and super fast to get to the village we saw, right?" He could be a dick sometimes, but was generally nice.

"You know why I won't fly, okay, what if this world has a form of radar?" I set my argument on the table.

He rolled eyes at me. "Axion, listen, the most advanced place the nanobots have scanned is that huge town with the big tower in the centre I told you about. It was quite literally the only city with a structure of that magnitude."

I attempted to interject "Bu-"

He cut me off. "And plus, we've scanned like, 4% of the planet's total surface, and while nanobots can't physically pass through matter, they can scan for things like technology, we've found nothing, no radar anywhere, no high leveled shit that would suggest overpowered chemistry, nor anything related to space or anything computerlike, so that forces a satellite out of the picture." His rant went on.

My eyebrows crossed. "ATLAS, until 100% of the planet has been explored, I will not take any chances, not after last time." I was starting to get annoyed, for an A.I ATLAS way too lifelike sometimes.

"Okay fine, stay on the ground pussy." There is not a word in existence on how much I hate and love him, but he irked me to no end. "Anyway, there are some things about this world I've found strange and also interesting."

Well, that piqued my interest, there weren't many things an A.I would find interesting. "Whatcha got?"

He continued. "This universe has some interesting evolution, specifically about the humans here." This was getting good.

"How is that interesting, humans adapt to climates all the time." There are better things to talk about, why this?

"No, not like that, they have extensions, like bunny ears, cattails or scales. Better hearing and balance, natural armour, stuff like that." He went on, explaining the different ways humans went in evolution. "There are even people whose genes allow them to look young for a long time, as in, looking like a child up into their late 40s, maybe even more if I complete my analysation."

Wow, holy shit, people have it good here, think of all the crap you could hear with cat ears. "Anything else of interest?" The stuff here is similar to what you'd find in an anime, I watched a lot of anime back in the day. I miss earth a lot, good old earth, we didn't even make it to 2022, we were so close to christmas as well.

Along the way to the city, ATLAS informed me of the world's quirks and technological standing.

"For real, so it's like an MMO RPG, that's how their magic works?" I asked, fangirling all over the gamelike structures. "How do I get this magic stuff?"

He paused, almost hesitant to speak. "Well the thing is, you need to talk to a god." I stopped walking, something deep within me started to boil. "Hey, are you okay, Axion your epinephrine levels are spiking?"

"Gods?" Memories from my not so recent past started to rise, fucking gods, those pricks thought they were so suppereor to everything else. Killing all that wasn't 'perfect' for them.

"Axion! They aren't like them!" He shouted at me.

I snapped out. "Sorry, I was thinking, what do they do with that kind of power?"

"When people talk to a god, they talk to a god for a falna, MMO RPG powers if you will." He explained. "From there they become adventurers, and kill monsters for these crystal things in exchange for the local currency, I.E Valis." Well, okay then, it's basically a job. "Oh yeah, and by the way, were closing in on the forest exit."

I raised an eyebrow, oh right, that's why we were walking. "So what is the tech like here again?"

"Well, it ain't a hunter and gatherer tribe, they've got blacksmiths and shit. So we should expect bladed weapons."

I smiled, no threats, yay, I wanted to get away from fighting for a while. I could see the end of the forest, past it lies a big ass tower over a wall. "Time to go…"

ROOOOAAAAAARRRR

I turned my head, a big fat green thing with a club was running towards me. "What?" I wondered what it was. "If you keep running towards me, i'm gonna kill you." It kept running towards me.

ATLAS tuned in. "It's fine to kill it, pretty sure it's called an orc from what I've learned, no idea what its doing out the dungeon thought, it should turn into ash and drop a purple stone after you kill it and I don't think there are any repercussions for killing it."

"Really? Okay then." I cocked my shotgun and dashed towards its face, after laying a foot on its neck I put the shotgun at point blank in its mouth and fired. A loud bang was heard for a single mile around, after firing, I backflipped off the still standing body and landed feet first, while the green thing's body fell backwards and landed on its back. "Wow, that was easy."

A taste of the battle returned to the back of my mouth, and vomit, I guess I was still sick of the battlefield. "What do you expect, you have the technology of every civilization in your inventory, you can't even die properly!"

I wondered if everything else would be that easy as the monster instantaneously vaporised into black ash with slight embers and dropping a purple crystal stone thingy. Then a thought came to mind. "Wait a second, why didn't you tell me something big was approaching me?"

"Well, how do I put this, our currently nanobots are circling the globe. I can only see the direction you're seeing because I see through the scientific lens in your eyes." There was a large DUH sound in his voice.

"Eh, whatever." I then planted my feet on the ground and took a long walk to the city…

As I approached the gates of the place ATLAS informed me on, Orario was its name, it was amazing, there was no smell of shit on the floor, if the view from the forest didn't make it obvious this place was cool, this sure did. "Holy crap, they have indoor plumbing and a sewer system." People don't smell like shit and have good hygiene, I thought this place was supposed to be medieval?

I heard a facepalm coming from ATLAS. "There is a giant tower in the center the size of a skyscraper and you're gawking over the fact they have toilets?"

Oh yeah right. "How the heck did they build that thing in the centre, they shouldn't have that kinda stuff yet" I said, amazed at their structural feats.

"It might have something to do with magic, or the fact they have gods, from what the bots could gather, the gods they get falna from, are literal gods that descended from heaven, wherever that is. If they are gods, they might have knowledge on how to do this kind of thing."

"Yeah, I guess so..." I walked through the gate and stopped expecting something to happen, looking over to the side, I saw a sleeping guard. "What amazing border control." I started to walk into the city again.

While going down the road, I took it all in, the place was certainly lively, loads of different people with culture to share, tons of genetic variety, food stands, sacks of fruit I've never seen before and a feeling of happiness in the air. The architecture was alright, houses here were mostly made from wood, some stone was there and each roof was tiled.

A useful thing I found out was that people wore jewelry and precious metals like gold, that means I could sell some of the stored items in my pocket dimension.

Now to find a place to sell my stuff…

\\\

Conveniently, everyone here speaks english, which is really weird, because this is a different universe.

After a relatively long time of searching, I found a place to sell some of my gold and plat, for a grand total of 142,000 Valis.

I have no idea whether I've been scammed or not, but it sounds like a lot. "Think I've been scammed ATLAS?"

"Based on how the economy looks? No, you've been paid fairly, though it's a bit on the lower side of things..."

"And you didn't tell me this why?" I could feel him shrugging at me with a cranky smile on his digital face. "Eh, screw it, you know I'm kinda hungry." I stop and look around at the busy streets.

I see a big wooden building with windows, tables, chairs and 5 people eating inside, ATLAS speaks out. "That's a restaurant of some kind."

I look at the sign. "I can't read anything."

Confused, ATLAS asked me. "You can't read english?"

"That's not english."

"Yes it is, it's just a font, can't you tell?" I look at it again.

Unable to figure it out I ask ATLAS. "Can you change the font to something I can understand with the lens?"

"Alright, fine you lazy fuck."

My eyes glow for a moment before my vision changes a bit. "Thanks." Hostess of Fertility, pretty good name.

As I talk to myself staring at the restaurant, someone approaches me. "Hello, would you like to come in for a meal, nya?"

I look to my side, It's a person with brown hair, cat ears, short brown ankle boots, black leggings, a white apron over a green dress thing with an orange ribbon under a white collar and a white headband. Also, did she say nya? "Um, sure. Do you have preserved table spots for reserved customers or..?"

She smiled and winked at me. "We take reservations but not one has done that for today, and we just opened so there are many seats, nya!"

I walked into the place and sat down on a stool near the counter, laying my shotgun on the floor, a big woman walked up, she was like 180cm, somewhere around there. "Hello there! You're a fine young woman aren't you? So what will you be having!"

I had a look at the menu, there were a lot of options so I couldn't really pick, I looked at her, after awkwardly not talking for 3 seconds, I said. "I'll take whatever you recommend to me, I'm a little new to Orario…"

"Alright then, I'll go grab ya something." She walked into the kitchen, while waiting for the food I looked around the Hostess, wondering how popular this place was, there were like 5 people in this place total, but I guess that's because they just opened, also, now that I look at this place, it's more like a pub then a restaurant.

I looked back at the counter and a huge plate of pasta had magically appeared in my face. "That was quick." I picked up the fork and dug into the pasta, It looked good, smelled good and tasted good. Damn this place has some nice food.

The big woman walked up to me again and placed down a drink, ale I think. "So, you said you're new to Orario right?"

"Yes, I am, why?"

"Nothing too much, did you come to enter the dungeon and become an adventurer?"

"Not really, I'm sick and tired of fighting at the moment, I may have done some things and I'd like to find a different profession." I continued to bite into my pasta, my mind went back to the battlefield, a place of death and war, and I was at the center of it, I killed so many people in there, death felt normal to me, I didn't even flinch at a corpse anymore.

"Would you like to work at our pub? We'd love to have a cutie like you here." She offered me a job.

I stopped mid chew, my jaw stuck in place from the stunting question, me, a barmaid? I look back at her, who was smiling at me, a smirk on my face appears while I swallow my food. "Haha, yeah no, I'm not cut out for that kind of work and I don't think you'd want someone like me here…" I trail off into my drink, yup, its ale.

"Are you sure? We'll employ, even if you have a shady background, we don't judge, you seem like a nice honest girl"

Wow, adding more to the table are we? "Lady, i'm fine, I'd rather own a bakery." That wasn't a bad idea actually, I used to bake a lot at home, before my interactions. "I never got your name by the way, mind telling me? I'm Axion."

"I've never heard one like that before, Axion, that's an unusual name. Names Mia Grand, but people here just call me Mama MIa."

"Huh, okay then Mama Mia." I could feel the italianness, no wonder the pasta.

/

After leaving the pub and experiencing Orario for the entire day, I came to a few conclusions:

One, I was not leaving Orario, I was gonna integrate myself into this place because I liked it here.

Two, I was gonna open a bakery, after leaving Earth, I never got to finnish of my passion for baking because of war.

And three, it's safe, after the nanobots circled the globe and came back, no technological advancements that could pose a threat had been discovered. I also got them to study the strongest people here, all they're magic and shows of strength, ATLAS came to the conclusion that nothing could kill us.

Even if the gods had some supernatural power that could destroy the planet, black holes mean death.

"A baker, really?" ATLAS asked.

"Hay, I used to do something before I acquired you!"

"Yeah yeah, whatever, when are you gonna set up the satellites and kinetic bombardment stations in space?"

"Soon ATLAS, soon." I've thought about my situation dozens of times.

This world was the first earth like planet I've found, they don't have anything to kill me, all my previous enemies have been destroyed. The government seems to be working properly, corruption exists, but nothing I can't fix, nothing too complex would pop up.

I like it here and I'm staying.

Nothing could possibly go wrong, nothing.

Chapter 1: New World

Chapter End

Okay, first time, I'll see where this goes, also, to those who find a point where the story contradicts itself, please tell me, I will edit accordingly.

Furthermore, I'm trying to mimic how the original characters of DanMachi act, so please tell me if I'm doing it wrong in the form of tips, pointing it out to me or something similar.

I would also appreciate any writer rules I should keep in mind, stuff like Chekhov's gun.

Hopefully I don't drop this, as a reader of many fanfiction, I know the feeling when someone stops a good story.

I hope you enjoy whatever story I can come up with, because if i'm being honest, I'm not exactly one of the most creative people. Life is kinda boring and I wanna try something new.

Have a great day.
