I Can't Wait to See You Again

Zoe Murphy kneeled in the wet dirt, her eyes swollen and unwilling to stop crying.

"What'd I do to deserve this? What did any of us do to deserve this." she sobbed, staring with blurry vision at the gravestones in front of her.

She felt a hand softly touch her shoulder. "H-Honey?"

Zoe looked up to see Heidi, Evan's Mom, standing over her.

Zoe's lip quivered and Heidi fell down next to her, throwing her arms around the 17 year old girl.

"I-I miss h-him. B-Both of them.S-So m-m-much!" Zoe choked, her hands shaking uncontrollably.

"I know. M-Mark, Evan's own father, he-he didn't even come!" Heidi shouted, anger rising in her voice. "What horrible, idiot, complete jerk doesn't come running when his ex-wife calls in tears to tell him their son, their only, beautiful, a-amazing s-son is d-d-dying after he got hit by a c-car?" Heidi screamed, her voice cracking as tears streamed down her face.

"That-That's h-horrible." Zoe whispered, staring down at the stone in front of her.

Mark Evan Hansen

"Why-Why'd y-you still have M-Mark engraved on h-his stone?" she asked softly, crying harder than before.

"It-It's what his birth certificate says- s-said." Heidi replied, wiping her nose on her sweatshirt.

"I-I, just, I wish Connor told me h- how much he-he was hurting." Zoe gazed over at the tombstone next to Evan's.

Connor Michael Murphy

"I-I miss him s-so much, and-and I barely kn-knew him. I-I can't imagine how, how E-E-Evan must've felt. His best, his-his only friend killed himself." Zoe choked, her eyes staring pitifully at her brother's grave.

"At-At least they're together again."

Zoe nodded, kissing her hand and pressing it to Connor's stone, than kissing her hand again, and pressed it to Evan's stone. "I love you both. So-So m-much. I can't wait to see you again."
