A/N: Have you ever watched the extended kissing scene? ;) Everything made soo much more sense after that…

Needed a break from all my musical stuff because I ran out of songs. That's a first, lol. (Perhaps you could stop by and leave me some suggestions?!)

Anyway, I rewatched Santa in the Slush (3x09) today and I think this should have happened. Please tell me if you think so, too! ;)

"Bones, you know that's just outright sick, don't ya?", Booth said calmly yet a little grossed out.

"What are you talking about?" Brennan frowned, suddenly shifting uncomfortably in the passenger seat.

"Kissing your brother like that… I don't know, but that just feels wrong in so many ways." His hand had a loose grip on the steering wheel while he maneuvered the SUV towards Brennan's apartment after they left the diner.

"Oh. That…", she chuckled, "It just slipped out. I might have been a little lightheaded."

"Slipped out?!" Booth turned to face her, shock written over his face. "You mean you do kiss Russ like that?"

"Ew what?" Brennan shuddered and wrinkled her nose. "Why would you think that? I merely wanted to say something to fill the uncomfortable silence and that was the first thing that came to my mind somehow!" She made a brief pause, trying to rationalize this absurd conversation.

"I do kiss my brother, but definitely not like this. You know, anthropologically speaking, while being romanticized in literature and mythology, incest has always been a taboo in almost every culture. Oedipus gouged out his own eyes when he found out he had married his own mother. Myrrha seduced her own father, conceived Adonis and when her father found out who she was, he wanted to kill her. Nonetheless, throughout history sibling incest was quite common within royal dynas-"

"Bones! Please!", Booth interrupted, "can we change the subject? You're putting images in my head that will work as a very safe contraception for the next weeks…"

"Booth, you know that the power of thought will most certainly not replace real protection, right? Besides, you should have told me you were seeing someone you engage in sexual intercourse with. I wouldn't have kissed you, I don't want to cause any trouble!"

Booth laughed softly. How could someone so smart be so oblivious at the same time?

"Figure of speech, Bones. Plus, I'm not seeing anyone. I just wanted to emphasize how much of a mood killer that topic is."

What he kept to himself was the fact that he didn't need to be involved with someone else for her to be the biggest troublemaker around. Since she left in that cab almost four years ago he always knew that they weren't done. A second kiss was inevitable, an imperative, really - it was just a matter of time. He had imagined so many different scenarios, but none of them included coercion by a puckish prosecutor. They have kissed two times now and he hadn't been in charge of one. The first time he started some nervous rambling and she was the one who finally gave in and closed the distance. The second time was initiated by a blackmailing Caroline Julian and ended by Brennan after five sensational steamboats.

Two kisses gave him a taste, but somehow he never got the full meal. He got more and more agitated with every minute he thought about that. His hand gripped the steering wheel tighter, so tight that his knuckles turned white and his jaw twitched nervously when he pulled over and parked the car in front of Brennan's building.

"Thanks for the ride home, Booth", she said as she unfastened the seatbelt.

"My pleasure…" A half grin played around his lips as he looked at her expectantly and she answered his inquiring look by giving him a warm knowing smile.

"Do you have somewhere to be or would you like to come up?" She raised an eyebrow, already expecting him to settle for the second option - and she assumed right. Booth stepped out of the vehicle and closed the door with a loud thump.

They walked up to her door in silence. Something inside him was still twitching. Maybe it was his own lie, telling himself it was just mistletoe, maybe it was his try to act unaffected. Maybe it was the fact that he gave her a little to much insight when she mentioned her crisis and he immediately took a leap towards their kiss - the only thing his thoughts circled around for the last hours. Maybe it was the way she just shrugged it off. "That was nothing."

In some twisted way, she was absolutely right. It was nothing. Two kisses, and he never got to taste her. The first kiss was tequila. The second one peppermint.

"Boohoooth?!" A sharp voice disrupted his train of thought.

She must have wiggled that bottle of Yuengling in front of his face for some moments already when he finally snapped to attention.

"What's wrong Booth? The lights are on but nobody's home?" She chuckled slightly as he took a step towards her, away from the counter he had been leaning against, and took the bootle from her hand.

"Sorry, I was a little lost in thought. Thanks…"

Damn the way she smiled at him. Her eyes sparkled, she seemed so happy. He remembered their first Christmas together. Stuck in the lab, she was the Grinch in person. He only understood when he learned about her past. And now, she had her family back, at least for the most part, and was eager to arrange Christmas for them. She had found closure and it seemed as if she had also found her own kind of Christmas spirit. This reminded him ironically of how tables had turned this year. Christmas wasn't going to be the same without his little boy.

Brennan noticed his mood shift.

"I'm sorry you don't get to have Christmas with Parker. I know how much it means to you."

"Thanks Bones." He took a sip of his beer and smiled at her. "I'll be alright. And I'm glad you chose to make Christmas for your dad and your brother. Although I think you should be there instead of on a plane to Peru."

"Well that's just what I usually do, you know…"

"Yeah, but… circumstances change, Bones, and we evolve. Sometimes we need to stop running from things and accept that there's a new reality that needs to be faced." At this point Booth wasn't entirely sure what circumstances he was actually talking about. His eyes lingered on hers with an almost unbearable intensity that mesmerized her. Unable to look somewhere else but his face, she nodded slightly and pressed her lips together. Tequila lips. Peppermint lips.

Booth placed the now empty bottle on the counter and took another step towards her. He stood so close now, almost as close as under the mistletoe. This moment was his.

"Excuse me, Bones, but I have to do something for my sanity now." With that, his lips brushed over hers briefly while one of his hands settled on her waist and the other on her shoulder, bushing her hair gently back and holding her in place while his mouth continued the gentle assault ^on her lips. After a moment of shock she melted into him, resting her palms flat against his chest and feeling the soft cashmere of his sweater. This time, he was sober and there was no distracting exchange of gum so he took his time to explore her mouth with his tongue in great detail. This time, he was in charge. This time, he got to taste her. This time, she would be the one who was left hungry and agitated afterwards. The kiss was sensual and soft, not as hasty and devouring as the one in her office. He broke away right before he lost all control over himself and took a step back, both hands resting on her waist.

He grinned when he saw the flustered look on her flushed face as she tried to catch her breath.

"What was that for, Booth?", she murmured in confusion, but instead of answering, he just smiled at her. He grabbed his jacket from the counter where he had dropped it earlier and swung it casually over his shoulder as he made his way to the door, walking backwards and never taking his eyes off her. She could tell herself this was sexless and meaningless, but he knew better. He damn well did. This kiss was just what the doctor ordered: a brief taste of her own medicine that would leave her hungry for more.

"Hit me up when you caught up, Bones", he said softly and closed the door behind him.

A/N: Soooo is this a one shot? Is this a first of a multi chapter? I don't know, so you tell me please!
